Chase McPhee % It was sometime in the middle of late evening when Dr. Azayzeh returned to the waiting room. Gone were the support of Alex's friends, except the new one he made this afternoon. "Can I see Kyle now?" Alex asks, expectant of a negative response. Without the exuberance he had earlier on today, Alex stood, Chad taking after his lead. "Right this way," the kind doctor held the door open. He smiled at Chad, passing through. "Thanks," Chad replied, returning the lip-bender. "Where to?" Alex asks, now impetuous. He turned one way, circling his hands, fingers pointing, then the other. "This way." Chad and Alex trailed Dr. Azayzeh, as they headed down the hospital corridor. Bubbly, Alex says, "Isn't this great? We finally get to see Kyle!" It had been on Chad's mind to leave, but when Alex put it in the plural he decided to go along. After all, he was dreading going home to the apartment he shared with Jake. Strange thing, he loved Jake, but right now he didn't care to be with him. All afternoon and evening he's been `paired up' with Alex and by way of their conversation he found Alex to be something more than Jake ever was. Sure, Jake had his good points, but Alex seemed to have so much more going for him. There was a short interval in their evening where he felt kind of `jealous' of Kyle, but quickly dismissed his feelings, because along with this came the urge to touch Alex, to be closer to him, even to kiss him. For sure, a new friendship was developing here and he didn't want to blow it. "Yeah, Great," he replied to Alex. But Alex didn't stop there. All through their travels Alex would not shut up, talking about Kyle, talking about Chad, telling him he was going to like Kyle. Chad didn't doubt this, since he was already liking Alex a lot. In conversing with him he found Alex madly in love with Kyle. And too, he became envious of their relationship, but in a nice way. In the times when Alex stopped talking, started to nod off, Chad wondered if there was going to be `life beyond Jake`. At least he was taking this as Jake leaving him, going off to France without him and falling head over heels in love with some suave, French hottie. % Sitting in the police station, Adam and Jordan waited. The officer whom Jordan thought of as their `rescuer', Alejandro Coronado, told him they would hang around, rather than come back tomorrow. However, today was slowly slipping into tomorrow as Adam kept track, his eyes visiting the clock every now and then. Rising up from his sleepy head resting on his own crossed arms, supported by his thighs, Adam says after a yawn, "When is Ale going to come take our statement Jordan?" "Don't call him that. We don't know him. Show him some respect!" Jordan busted his brother. "Yes, father!" Adam replies sarcastically. He wasn't really perturbed over Jordan's comment. Time and time again Adam has reminded himself if it wasn't for Jordan caring for him he would probably be some druggie on the street, or worse. Getting back to Jordan, he smiled to himself, thinking of how Jordan seemed to step out of character as they followed `Officer Coronado' down the stairs of their townhouse. His second smile infected his senses and along with his thoughts made him giggle! "What are you laughing at?" Jordan asks, poking him with his arms. "Oh nothing." He really did want to voice his opinion, start up a chat with his brother, so contradicted himself, "You know you're a real brown-noser?" Slowly Jordan turns his head, giving Adam the dirtiest look. "What-the-fuck is `that' supposed to mean?" "Nothing," Adam replied, but then went on to say, "other than if I wasn't with you when `Officer Coronado' drove us down to the precinct, you would probably be all over him!" "Fuck you!" Jordan replies, turning his head back and minding his own business. However, if Adam could read his brother's mind he would have been right on target. All Jordan could think about was the first time he laid eyes of `Ale', how something more than his heart started thumping more pronounced. With two hours behind them, nothing much to do, Jordan let his mind runaway with his thoughts. At one time he fantasized about `Ale' walking out from behind the security façade of the police station and stripping down in front of him. Now his thoughts returned to the dreamworld and after having Coronado `strip in front of him', Jordan imagined becoming tangled up in his arms, some heavy kissing, French or otherwise. He smiled when he thought of the pleasure he was getting out of Ale `stripping him', how the police officer sank to his knees and allowed his lips to tease his cock. He got all the way to bending Ale over the counter when Adam slapped him in the stomach with the back of his hand. "C'mon `brown-noser'!" He could have responded harshly, but before Jordan could, Officer Coronado was standing there before them. The two got up. "What's up?" Jordan asks. It was more business than pleasure, Coronado asking, "Do you have a neighbor by the name of Knapp Dryfiss?" Gulping, Jordan said with reluctance, "Um... yeah. I know Knapp." When another cop showed up Adam got bad vibes. He didn't say much other than, "This will be an ongoing investigation. Please," and it seemed more genuinely heartfelt than a simple `reading of rights', "don`t think of taking any out-of-town vacations?" "Um, sure," Jordan replies, "You got it." While Jordan conversed with Officer Coronado, his eighteen year old brother decides to make light chat with the other officer. He opens with, "Problem officer?" "Who me?" the cop slaps his chest with the palm of hand, turns his head around as if someone was behind him. Right out, Adam speaks his mind, "Well yeah, like you're here with Ale and you're not doing anything, dah?" "Oh," the cop chases Adam's idea away with a wave of his hand. He then explains, "I got this idea after joining the force, if I'm there when things are being explained then maybe I can learn from it and when it comes up then I'll know what to do!" Adam thought it strange, as he entered high school four years ago, he began taking a-liking to older men. Not too old. Well, Luigi seemed to be twice his age, but the cop standing there before him couldn't be much older than himself. Forwardly he asks, "Are you a rookie?" He answers, "I graduated from the academy last fall, but didn't start here until three months ago." Their chat was abruptly interrupted, Coronado calling, "Hey Cade, you want to sit in while I take a statement?" Already Adam was thinking of how dreamy the rookie was, even though he seemed a little goofy at first. Now he had a name attached and repeated, "Cade?" "I didn't introduce myself?" "Nope!" Adam replies as they follow in Jordan's and Ale'a footsteps. Rigidly placing his right arm over his left, Cade extends a hand and formally acknowledges, "Officer Cadel Dapper." Adam turns to his right and shakes the hand, thinking how corny, the way it was said, but the extended greeting held more than an introduction, in all respects. "Adam Blair and that's my brother Jordan." "Nice to meet you... and your brother," Cade replies. Way back to where Officer Coronado made his entrance with the rookie, Adam kind of had a feeling. Weird Adam thought, long ago, that when he first met `any' guy the first thing to pop into his mind was whether his gaydar was true to what he was feeling. He found he had `the gift', 99% of the time, his predictions proving true. He didn't have any doubts about what he was feeling for Cade. "I think Cadel is a cool name." Cadel replies, "I like it myself. I can't see the big deal." Adam thought there was more coming and when it didn't he asks, "With?" "Cadel and Cade. It's only one letter. It's not like I have a `lo-o-ong' name like... like..." "Alejandro?" Adam beats him to it. "Yeah. Alejandro. It even `looks' like a long name." Adam shares, "Call him Ale. C'mon before we get locked out. He leads him and Cadel to the room where his bro and Ale have already disappeared into. % "Alll-la-ex," Kyle said like he was drunk. As Alex rushed towards the bed he ran into Dr. Azayzeh's arm. "Sorry, but you cannot make contact at this time." "Oh," Is all Alex said, disappointed to say the least. Instead he exchanged eye contact and words, "How you feeling, baby?" All along Chad was comparing notes. He began to analyze the `whys' to how he loved Jake. He thought to himself like he was having a conversation, `Jake never talked sweetly to me like that!' His eyelids heavy, Kyle tried communicating but his words came out sloppy and slurred, "I go-o-home me`an you?" Acting as a translator, Dr. Azayzeh tells, "It will be a few days to maybe a week before Kyle is ready to leave the hospital." "Oh," Alex's demeanor went from bright to dull. As encouragement he adds, "Kyle is still coming around. You will see. By tomorrow," he glances to his watch, "rather later today, he will be so much better and you can talk normally with him." "When?" Alex asks impetuously. "Why don't you go home, get a good rest and come back around noontime?" With Kyle dozed off, Mohamed's hand to Alex's shoulder, ushers him back towards the door. "Are you sure I have to wait that long Dr. Azayzeh?" The doc changes his mind, "Ten o'clock, but no earlier." "Okay. That's cool," Alex replies, but still dissapointed he has to wait so long. Outside the room, Mohamed leaves the two standing there. "Hey, you want to get some coffee? A bagel? My treat!" "O-o-o-oh!" Alex says out loudly, placing his hands behind his head and stretching. His tee shirt hiked up a little in the front because he bent backwards a little. Chad noticed that Alex noticed he noticed the gap between his shirt and belt, most likely taking in the sight of Alex's dark-haired treasure trail! With Chad saying nothing, Alex knew he was thinking of `how awkward`, so he volunteers, as he smooths his tee shirt over his pecs and abs, "Checking me out?" Seriously, Chad tells him, "Oh I wouldn't call it that. Believe me Alex. I know you're... are you two partnered?" It was a last ditch effort, however futile Chad thought of it to be, remotely possible their relationship wasn't more than occasional friends. As they walked towards the hospital exit, Alex fills him in, "Kyle and I have been deeply in love with each other almost since the day we met." He thought of asking Chad the same, but hesitated on account of Chad`s falling out with Jake. After a brief silence, the two stopped in the hall when Chad lightly puts it, "I `was' checking you out Alex!" Putting his arm around Chad's shoulder, acting like pals, Alex asks, "Since you offered I think I'll have five cups of coffee, a bag of bagels, a bi-i-i-i-g vat of cream cheese... you know, with the little raisins in it?" Chad laughed and it felt good because it took his mind off of Jake. "Bummer!" Alex said when one of Chad's morning hangouts was closed. "I know of another place?" Chad offers. With rash decision, Alex chooses, "How about my place?" "I don't know Alex," Chad seemed skeptical even though he didn't have a desire to return to his own abode. "We probably don't have any bagels, but we've got coffee!" And he didn't give Chad a chance, taking his arm and leading him towards the subway. % Copyright 2009 T.
