Oh, and I do not condone the use of narcotics and in fact aim to provide a more enlightened view of their use at points in this story. So on with the show.....

It was almost midnight on a Friday and seventeen-year-old Scott had nothing better to do than check out a party at his...well, his friend's place. He hesitated to call Toby too much more than a friend since they didn't have that much in common anymore. But he still owed him a lot of memories - they'd seen a lot and done a lot together in the hectic social whirl of their teens. So even though they weren't as close as they had been, Scott still felt a common bond that was hard to shake.

At one time, maybe only a few years ago, they had been almost inseparable. It was the sort of friendship that transcends all boundaries and opinions. As he walked through the dark and uninviting streets, Scott cast his mind back to they day they had first met...

Saturday. Nothing too special though since there didn't seem to be much to do. It was the middle of summer so Scott was hanging out at the seafront, on the stretch of sand that the town laughably called a beach. It was the sort of town that probably could have been better, cleaner, bigger, more.. exciting... if it had been somewhere like America. But this was England and so got classified as a "seaside resort".

Scott chuckled under his breath as he scanned the people on the beach. Definitely not like on TV! Instead of the tanned and rippling bodies that should have been there (at least in the boy's mind), there was only screaming kids, ugly families and only two types of skin colour - flour white or lobster red! No wonder Scott felt like bursting - he was a thirteen year old kid with raging hormones and what seemed like no-one cute to ease his frustration! Not even someone he could fantasize about while stroking his semi-stiff cock through his flannel shorts. Life sucked.

As he was staring out at the scenes of anti-Baywatch in front of him, Scott felt a tap on his shoulder. Turning round, he saw another kid around his age looking at him expectantly. His heart lurched suddenly and his shorts twitched as he stared at the boy in front of him. The newcomer was dressed like a skater kid, with baggy trousers slung just below his crotch and a bright red pair of tight trunks reaching up to his navel. Since it was hot, the kid was shirtless, which gave Scott a great view of his tight and toned body and perky little nipples. But the kid was talking and all Scott could hear was the blood rushing through his ears and around his head. Both heads!

"Hey man, you got a light?"

For some reason that completely escaped him but could be related to the pressing need in his groin, Scott just stared dumbly at his fantasy, opening and closing his mouth but unable to make a sound.

"Goldfish moment, huh?" said the vision

"What .. er .. oh! Er, no, sorry I don't smoke", Scott managed to splutter out, suddenly feeling like a complete idiot.

"Does that mean don't smoke or won't smoke?" said the other boy, grinning widely as he pulled a small joint from his pocket.

     "Oh, er, I never really..."

"That's OK man, just thought you might need some company. Not that you need some, you're obviously real into the whales and stuff..."

Scott's blood finally started circulating to a level somewhere around normal and his brain kicked in.

"Whales? Oh, you mean all them!" he said, swinging his arm at the beach. "OK, got me. Do I really look that bored?"

"Let me see... yeah. But if you're not into hanging out..." said the kid, waving the joint meaningfully, "... then that's cool, I can just take off."

Scott weighed up his options - stay here and go mind-numbingly crazy or hook up with this - admittedly VERY fit - stranger. A fraction of a second later, he reached out his hand.

     "I'm Scott, hi"

"Toby, and this here is Mr Dooby. We're on very intimate terms!"

Scott laughed at the other kid's terrible sense of humour. But corny as it was, it was also appealing. Scott had never met someone who didn't seem to be uptight about school or money or something. This town must do it to you. But Toby seemed different, as if he couldn't care less about what people thought of him. And quite frankly, Scott found that rebellious streak a turn-on!

So it was that they ended up in the park, down by the small duck pond. Although it was still officially a public place, no-one seemed to venture to this corner of the park anymore. Not since the new play area and cafe had been built on the other side, away from where the two boys now sat.

On the way, Toby had scrounged a cheap throwaway lighter off a passing stranger. Scott admired his cheek in persuading the guy to part with his lighter. Maybe it was his confidence, or his winning smile, or the way he looked so damn cute! Scott could tell that he was going to have a hard job keeping his eyes to himself and his dick from popping a boner every few seconds.

"Man, that's better" Toby sighed as he blew out a large lungful of pungent smoke and passed the joint to his new friend.

Scott took the spliff tentatively and put it to his lips, breathing in as he had watched Toby doing just a minute ago. Suddenly he felt like his throat was on fire and his lungs were trying to escape from his chest. His body was wracked with coughing spasms as he fought to breathe and spit flew from his mouth.

"Whoa man, take it easy!" Toby smacked Scott on the back and pulled him upwards, allowing fresh air to enter his throat. He held the novice smoker in his arms as the coughing subsided and everything returned to a state of normality.

"So I guess you never smoked before huh?" he asked.

"Was it that obvious?" Scott managed a weak smile as embarrassment welled in him and his face turned a brighter shade of red than it had a minute ago.

"Sorry man, I didn't realize. Sometimes I get so used to puffing that it's easy to forget that not everyone's as big of a drop-out as I am!"

"You're not a drop-out! I mean, you might be, but, well you don't look like one. Not that you don't look great and all, but, oh shit I don't know" Scott stammered as he tried and failed to mask his nervousness.

But to his relief, Toby only laughed and hugged him again.

"It's OK fella, I think I know what you mean," he smirked. "Maybe you should take it easy."

"No, no really, I want to. Just give me a minute will ya?"

Toby nodded and took the joint back, sneaking small tokes on it while Scott recovered.

The rest of the afternoon passed in a haze, the sun beating down on the boys and the effects of the summer heat mixing with the smoke to produce a floaty buzz that relaxed them completely. Scott even worked up the nerve to take his top off, something that he normally wouldn't do since he was self-conscious about how he looked. To be fair, he wasn't bad looking but since he wasn't into sports like most of the other kids his age were, his adolescent body had never really gained definition. He wasn't chubby much anymore but he still lacked the taut outline of his peers, and especially the gorgeous young guy next to him.

And it was Toby's body that provoked the wildest response from his hormones. Every once in a while, Scott would sneak a peek at his friend and allowed his eyes to drift over the smooth, tight skin, taking in every detail of its seeming perfection. He didn't know whether it was the effects of smoking or not, but he was finding it hard to contain himself. More than once he had to shift his position so he could surreptitiously re-arrange his growing bulge to make it less noticeable. Sure, he fancied the boy like crazy, but Scott felt afraid to show it in case Toby freaked or ran off or beat him up or something. Kids could be cruel sometimes.

Demons raged in his head and body, his fear of rejection (and maybe worse) wrestled with his growing need for satisfaction. Scott had never even kissed another person, let alone someone as hot as this kid was! Sure, he had fantasized about it for a few years, ever since his body had woken up to the idea of being close to another boy. And he was desperate to do more than just think about what it would be like, as he lay alone in his bed every night, squeezing his dick until shudders wracked his frame. But could he risk this new friendship? He liked Toby and felt like he wanted to know him better. Not just because he didn't have any close friends but because he saw something in the boy that he wanted to be with, and be like.

But this was driving him crazy, and his thoughts were racing around in his head as he stared at the semi-naked body beside him, reclining on the grass, lost in reverie with eyes closed. Before he knew what he was doing, Scott leaned over and pressed his lips softly against Toby's, feeling his warmth flood into his soul.

Toby's eyes flew open and he bolted upright, knocking Scott backwards in surprise and shame.

"What the fuck!" Toby's eyes stared at his companion, trying to focus through the smoke-haze, his mind shaking off the effects and trying to comprehend what had just happened.

Scott's heart raced and he thought that he'd blown it, that things were definitely not good. He jumped to his feet and screamed an apology as he ran, tears springing from his eyes and clouding his vision as Toby sat staring at the retreating figure of his companion.

******* That's all for now folks. To be honest, I wasn't going to go into too much detail about how Toby and Scott met but I just got carried away! So I'd better take a break while I get things back on track. But I will write some more as soon as I can cos I want to find out what happens as much as you guys hopefully do! *******
