Date: Thu, 2 May 2013 14:14:38 -0700 (PDT) From: Mack Thomas Subject: heartbroken (part 3) Today was a good day, want to know why? It's because it's the last day of school before Christmas break. As expected none of my teachers gave me any work and we just sat around talking, or watching movies. Nothing really interesting happened until the last bell rang. As I collected my things I was stopped by Ms. Pennyworth to congratulate me on my improvements. I still wasn't giving my all, but it was enough to keep her happy. After depositing my books in my locker I received a text from Christy. "Hey love I have to fill in this weekend at my parents restaurant this weekend. We have to get together on Monday though!" I text back a quick "Okay" and made my way to the exit until I heard arguing. Being the nosey person that I am I went to check it out. I turned and saw Devlin and his girlfriend who's name I don't remember arguing. "Why were you talking to him?!' Devlin asked, well more like screamed. She just rolled her eyes and tried to walk away, but he grabbed her. I started to walk away, but I saw her slap him. I was shocked, but I was even more shocked when he drew back his arm and punched her in the face. She fell to the floor and he kept hitting her. He started assaulting her, and I pulled him away. I tried to calm him down, but before I knew what happened he hit me. The punch didn't connect fully it kind of grazed the side of my face and before I could swing back he had me in a headlock while I swung wildly at his head. He wasn't really hitting me, but was caught off guard when one of my wild punches connected to his jaw. He let go of my head, but grabbed a handful of my dreadlocks and pulled. He was too strong and I had a hard time keeping my balance while he maintained his grip. Once again I got lucky and caught him with an uppercut knocking his head back, and releasing his hold on me. Again he fell, but before I could capitalize Dylan ran in and separated us. Forgetting about Devlin I ran to his girlfriend and checked on her. She was pretty swollen, but not as bad as I assumed it would be. While I was checking on the girl when devlin rammed me into a locker from behind and I saw stars. My vision got blurry, but I saw Dylan put Devlin to sleep before picking me up. I was fading in and out of consciousness, and I noticed the hallways we were passing. He continued to carry me all the way to what I assumed was his car. I couldn't tell what type it was, but I could tell that it was white. As we were in the car Dylan kept asking me questions, but I couldn't focus on anything. We pulled up in front of my parents house and he started to carry me out of the car is when I spoke. 'Not my house.' I said in a very weak voice. 'Yes it is don't worry, you just hit your head.' 'They don't want me.' I whimpered slowly fading again. I remember giving him my address before going to sleep again. I have no clue how long I was out, but I could vaguely hear a voice every once and awhile. I woke up in someone else's house, but I could barely move so I stayed in the bed. The room was extremely large and was painted white. The room was decorated with trophies and posters of models like an average teenage room. About a minute later Dylan came in looking distraught. He seemed really worse for wear as he sat on the bed. 'How are you doing?' He asked. 'I'm...dizzy, and sore.' I said trying to sit up and failing. 'Matt I'm so sorry' He whispered. 'W..why?' I asked bewildered. 'Your parents' was all head said before dropping his gaze sniffling and looking away. I almost went into shock at the fact that he dropped his gaze first. Dylan NEVER shows anything but dominance. At that moment I really knew it was killing him since he outed me to them, and I tried my best to comfort him. Apparently I was still exhausted because the next thing I remember was awaking in his arms, and I slowly got up to check the time. It was eight in the evening and I knew that I had to get home before it had gotten too dark. I was about to head out when I heard Dylan mumble something in his sleep. It felt so brutal trying to find my way out of his house. It wasn't even a year since I had last been here, but my head was throbbing and my vision was blurry. As I finally reached the steps to head downstairs I hesitated. Apparently I had taken too long, because I had heard Dylan's tired voice behind me. `Where are you going?' he asked. `H...home' was all that I could manage. `I don't think that is a good idea. You're hurt and you need someone who can keep an eye on you.' I just shook my head no, but that was a big mistake as I started to feel light headed and almost fell down the steps, but he caught me. 'Home...I want to go home.' I mumbled, but Dylan wasn't hearing it. 'No' he stated firmly. I looked up at him pleadingly, but he wouldn't budge. `There is no way tat I could leave you alone in this condition.' As we were headed back to his room Dylan's parents Donna and Lawrence came home. She looked at me for a moment as if trying to remember who I was, and then I saw it dawn on her. She practically flew up the stairs and gave me a big hug before turning to Dylan. 'By the grace of God you actually were able snag my God son and bring him back!' She squealed. 'You see I told you if you stop crying, and talk to him he would forgive you'. His father stated. I'd never seen Dylan go so red so fast. Donna and Lawrence were trying to catch up, but besides hearing a few compliments on my weight loss I didn't remember anything else. In the midst of conversation donna had an idea. 'This calls for a celebration, Matt we already had plans with your parents so why don't you join us?' It genuinely surprised me how my parents had managed to avoid letting anyone know that I hadn't been living with them for practically a year. 'He can't mom he got hurt today, and he hasn't been feeling well' I was glad Dylan stepped in. I was still groggy, and I was sort of out of it. Donna reluctantly complied, but I knew she wasn't happy about it. Donna and Lawrence left again soon after to meet my parents for dinner, while Dylan and I headed back into his room. We started watching T.V. and he must have noticed I was still pretty dazed and fighting for consciousness. He pulled me over into his lap and wrapped his arms around me. I curled up into a ball, and lay my head on his chest with a long sigh. I had expected his body to be uncomfortable because he was so muscular, but he was actually warm and pleasing. `T...thank you.' I mumbled snuggling closer trying to get all of the warmth that I could. Throughout all of this year no one, besides Christy had shown me any affection and I had no clue that I desperately needed it. He wrapped his arms tighter around me muttering something about Devlin. 'Dylan... I'm really hurt' I said. Id never been hit like that before. Even when Dylan hit me it was before he was an athlete. Devlin was going to pay for that sucker punch.'I know matt I wish I could help' 'You are right now' he really was helping I just needed someone to hold me. I slowly started to fall asleep. I awoke in Dylan's arms. This had become a ritual since Christmas break started as I awoke to his smiling face. 'Hey sleepy head!' 'Good morning.' I said and he started to get up, but I pulled him back down. 'Can we lay here like this a little longer?' I know I sounded like a baby, but I hadn't been held in like a year. He smiled and wrapped his arms back around me. 'As long as you need me.' He said and it felt just as good as it felt all those years ago when we were two and decided to sleep in the same bed whenever we were at the others house. After another ten minutes I reluctantly got up. 'You sure you want to get up?' He asked. 'No but if we stay like this I'm never getting up' 'That's fine with me, I'm comfortable' 'No besides we have to get ready for our birthday party in a few hours.' I said. I called Christy and told her to get dressed so the three of us could go get stuff for the party. I heard my phone ring, and it was Jacob. Jacob still had not spoken to me since that argument so long ago so I was surprised to receive a call. I thought back to the day we started having problems and I realized that it was when he wanted me to have him I wasn't ready, and he accepted that for a little while. Then he started to get aggressive, and we fight every time we talk. He keeps accusing me of cheating on him with Dylan. (Crazy right) and went so far as to push me down after an argument. He didn't mean it, but I still would never tell Dylan or Christy for that matter. Dylan's not even my type, but Jacob just won't listen. We had a nasty argument last week, and haven't talked since. I reluctantly answered the phone. 'Hello' I said. 'Hey matt I'm so sorry about what I said' He sounded genuinely sorry. 'Its okay' I consoled him over the phone. 'Where are you?' He asked. 'Dylan's house' 'Again?!' I just rolled my eyes. He hadn't talked to me in the last three weeks and now he's upset that I am at our friends house. 'Jacob I have to get ready for my party' 'Whatever!' he said and hung up. Dylan looked at me and shook his head. 'You could do so much better.' 'Yeah let me just go down my list of eligible candidates.' I said laughing. 'Seriously Matt he's a jerk' 'He's not that bad, besides isn't he your friend' 'Yeah, but that doesn't stop him from being out of line the way he talks to you' 'Thank you for caring, but I'm a big boy I can handle myself.' We met Christy at her house, and went to the mall. We needed a lot of supplies since Facebook spread this party like a wild fire. Even on Christmas people were texting me for details. (It's funny how people are. One minute they hate you, the next they act as if you've been friends for years). After we bought everything in the store we went to Dylan's house to set up. His parents were on a business trip so we had the house to ourselves. I tried to leave Christy alone with Dylan as much as possible because she had developed a crush on him. (We've come a long way since her threatening to cut him). Oh and I found out it was pepper spray in her purse, anyway back to the story. Dylan seemed uninterested which was crazy because she was gorgeous. She had all the guys falling to her feet at school, but she couldn't get him. I think it would be a great idea for my two best friends in the whole wide world to date, but he wouldn't budge. We forgot to pick up alcohol so I quickly volunteered to get it. I know I know I'm only sixteen, but its my seventeenth birthday tomorrow, and its our first party with no adult supervision. Plus I wanted to give Christy the time to put the moves on Dylan. After I flirted with the cashier, and got the alcohol I saw free fortune cookie stand so I walked and grabbed one. I read my fortune that said. "One good deed can lead to a lifetime of bliss." (Hmm I want a lifetime of bliss). I looked around for someone to help when I saw Devlin picking on this kid who looked really familiar. He was five foot five with shoulder length raven black hair, dark brown eyes, and fair skin. They pushed him on the ground and walked away laughing. I walked over to him, and helped him up. I looked at his face as he fought back tears. He was cute, and I smile at him. He quickly looked away from me. 'Thank you' he said quite timidly while looking at the floor. 'No problem I'm Matt Valentine by the way' 'I know we have six classes together' he said still not making eye contact. (Six! Damn how could I have not noticed him). Then an idea hit me. 'Hey, Dylan and I are throwing a party tonight. Want to come?' To my surprise he looked me in my eyes, but he looked pissed. 'Why so you guys can pick on me too?' He said tears rolling down his face. 'No I just wanted you to be my friend.' I said shocked at his response. He looked shocked as tears continued to fall from his eyes. 'I've never had a friend before' he admitted. It took everything I had not to pick him up and take him home with me forever and ever. He was too cute, and at that moment he no longer had a choice, he was going to be my friend. I grabbed his hand and led him back to Dylan's house. He put up a little fight at first, but he gave up soon enough. The one thing I hate about living alone is that since I'm only sixteen my parents have to sign for me to get a car. We walked through the front door, and I released his arm. 'Geez all you had to do was ask.' he said giggling. Like I said too cute. Hell he might be cuter than me, and that's really hard to accomplish. His face was still a little damp from crying. Dylan and Christy walked in and looked at me funny. 'I got the drinks, and made a friend' I said. 'Uh huh what's his name?' Christy asked raising an eyebrow. (Shit I forgot to ask).'T...tommy' he answered. (Hell even his name was cute). We sat down and talked for a minute, and they fell in love with him as quick as I did.'Well as long as your with us no one especially Devlin going to hurt you' Dylan said. All I could think about was how Dylan knocked him out last week. We finished up our decorations as soon as guests started to arrive. It has been a tradition since birth to have our parties new years eve, and bring in the new years/birthday partying. By ten o clock the party was in full effect. I smiled when I saw Christy dancing on Dylan. All of a sudden someone slapped my ass way too hard. I turned around pissed until I saw Jacob smiling. We danced and everyone was having a great time until Jacob got one too many shots in him. He saw me talking to tommy and started an argument. It was my day so I refused to argue with him as I continued to have fun while he stormed away. When it got close to new years countdown I started looking for him. I walked upstairs and into one of the bedrooms where I heard thumping. I opened the door and saw Jacob having sex with someone. I could only see the back of her head as she rode him her blonde her moving wildly. I expected to be pissed, hurt, broken hearted, or something. I felt nothing I simply left and headed towards the pool. I stripped down into my swimsuit and jumped in right as the new years countdown started. I left last year in a relationship, and started the new years single. The party ended around three in the morning as it was only Dylan, Tommy, Christy, Jacob, and I were left. Jacob was trying to be really nice and sweet, but I knew why. 'Hey Matt I'm about to go I love you.' He said as he leaned forward and tried to kiss me. 'I love me too.' I said coldly turning my face away from him. This was the first time he'd said that, and he'd expected a different response. 'Why don't you go and tell that bitch you fucked upstairs you love her. She might actually believe you.' I said walking off. He called after me but I heard Dylan make him leave. Dylan and Christy tried to comfort me, but I told them it was okay. I wasn't hurt because I didn't love him. Dylan drove Christy home, while I tried to wake tommy up. He'd passed out about an hour ago. Apparently he'd never tasted alcohol, and he liked it. Dylan and I drove him home, and he slurred his thank you and gave me his phone number. I assumed Dylan was going to drop me off at my place so I was surprised when we got back to his. He looked at my surprised face and said. 'Last year we didn't see each other at all pretty much, so this year we are going to spend the whole day together.' (This is going to be an interesting 17th birthday.)
