This meant that they could load it straight into the coach and get themselves into the air conditioned atmosphere inside the coach. Fortunately the other teens were not late either and the coaches left on time heading out for Thessaloniki. Chapter 164. The coach trip was fairly long and uneventful with most of the passengers catching up on some more sleep by the time they were half an hour out of Polichronos. Most of the snoozers slept until the coach pulled up to a stop outside the airport. J was the first off the coach and called for the occupants to get their luggage onto trolleys and move inside the airport as quickly as possible. Once they were inside the building where it was cooler, J had them all gather in a group around him. "Ok, now I am sorry that I don't know all your names and it is not favouritism, but rather making it easy for me and so I will ask guys from my dorm to help me to sort all of us out." J began. "I want you all to stay together here as a group and get your passports and travel documents ready while I go and get some assistance. Please do not go off until I find out how much time we have and then I will let you know how where and when we need to be to get to our boarding gate on time." J explained. "Sean and Chuck, you two are in charge for now and are to keep all of you together for a few minutes while I am away." J ordered, and then simply walked away from the group heading over to the British Airways help desk. J spoke to the girl who was manning the desk and explained who he was and the help he needed. The girl smiled at him, and told him that they were expecting him and asked him to wait while she got the assistance he required. Picking up the phone she punched in a few numbers which obviously were for an in-house extension and then spoke in Greek into the mouthpiece. A couple of nods later and she hung up. "Matthew will be along shortly to help you." She informed J and then went back to working at the monitor in front of her. J stood there for just a couple of minutes when Matthew came walking up to the desk. The girl behind the desk indicated J and Matthew got a surprised look on his face and then extended his hand in a greeting. "Sorry, I was expecting an adult to be helping the group." Matthew said, smiling broadly. "I'm Matthew and I will be with you now until I have seen you all safely onto the aircraft." He greeted J. "It's ok. I was also expecting an adult but got the job myself because the adult who should be here had to fly home urgently for a family matter. I am J and am glad you are going to help us all the way through." J said, as his eyes took in the man before him. Matthew was not more than twenty to twenty-two years old and had blond hair to his shoulders framing a face that was lit by two piercing blue sapphires for eyes, He was neither skinny nor fat, but was more on the slender side in a comfortable way. Of course J knew that there was no hope of anything happening, but he did store some of the view away in his memory to help his dreams. "Right let's go and meet the group and get things going." Matthew said. The two of them walked over to the group all of whom were behaving themselves and just quietly chatting in little groups within the main group. "Ok, all, listen up. This is Matthew and he is going to help us till we are on our plane." J introduced Matthew. "Thank you, we have made a good start by being all together. We do not have a lot of time before the plane leaves so what I would like to do is to collect all your docs up and we will get them processed and you all through security. So I think the best thing is for us to get over to the check in desk and as we check our hold luggage in, I will collect up your passports to take you on through the immigration checks and on to the departure lounge. So get those trolleys moving and follow me." Matthew said. Being an EU state and that they all held British passports; made it a bit of a breeze going through immigration. The security checks took a bit longer because there were things in some of the bags that showed up with need to be checked on the X-Ray machines. But even then the fifty plus of them were through to the departure area with their boarding passes and hand luggage a mere forty five minutes after Matthew had joined them in the airport lobby. "Ok, you now have only half an hour before you will be boarded because you will board first. It is helpful having a big group like yours. There are some preferential treatments given, for numbers like yours. So you can go and wander around the shops, but when you hear the public address listen out and when they call your flight come straight away back to this very spot. Ok?" Matthew told them. "Your flight number is 137" J added. Fred came up to J and quietly asked, "Do we have to go and look at the shops. I haven't got any money left and so it will be boring." "No, of course you don't Fred. You can do whatever you want to, but make sure you are back here as soon as the flight is announced." J assured him. "Thanks J, you're the best." Fred said with a grin splitting his face. "Do you want to go and look at the shops?" Matthew asked J. "Yeah, I wouldn't mind. I would like to see if I can find something for my parents and my little brother and one or two other things." J added. "Ok, go ahead and I will wait here so that the kids know where to come back to." Matthew offered. "Thanks." J said and took off in the direction of the shops. J struck it lucky and fifteen minutes later he was back with Matthew clutching a few small parcels in his hand which he began to pack into his cabin luggage. "So how come someone as young as you look gets to be in charge of over fifty teens on a fairly long flight?" Matthew asked. "I was accepted as a dorm leader for the last couple of camps and when Jeff had to fly home for his mother's funeral, it left only me this end. Jeff will be meeting us in the UK and will take over from there." J explained. "So what made you apply for a job looking after disadvantaged kids?" Matthew asked some more. "Well I have been attending these holidays since I was nine and I just felt like I wanted to give something back." J told him. They continued on discussing different issues about being fostered and the holiday camps and while they were doing this the kids kept coming back and checking with J how much time they had left. Even the kids who were not from J's dorm still came and asked things of J rather than Matthew and showed him more respect than they showed to a lot of their teachers at their schools. "You have obviously got these kids eating out of the palm of your hand. Clearly you have a gift for doing this sort of thing. Do you think you will take it up as a career when you leave school?" Matthew enquired. "I am not sure yet. I have had a wonderful time helping the kids and learnt a lot about myself in the process. It is something that I am going to have to think about very hard." J admitted. "Well, I wish you all the best whatever you decide. I have been helping group bookings for a couple of years now and yours has been the best behaved of the lot of them." Matthew confided. "That's because J makes us want to behave." Sean was standing behind the two and had obviously been listening in on the conversation. "How does he do that?" Matthew asked Sean. "By setting the example and letting us see how and why it is better to follow his route rather than the silly ones we were heading along." Sean replied. "But you have only been with J for a couple of weeks. How did you know you should trust him and follow his way in such a short time?" Matthew continued to question Sean, who had been joined by Max during the asking of the question. "Because before we even got to our dorms J sorted out two guys who were being mean and right arseholes in such a way that they have changed completely and they did that without even talking to each other about it first." Max explained. "And because J has shown us how to accept all types and not hold some preconceived ideas about different people, but rather to learn what the individual is like." Sean added. "So you mean like accepting a gay person as a friend even though you are straight?" Matthew asked. "Yeah! That sort of thing among others." Sean agreed. "He taught us to show respect to all people and basically give them the benefit of the doubt until they showed by their actions that they should be viewed in another way." Max said. "That is some lesson coming from a seventeen year old gay guy." Matthew said. "Actually it is sixteen." J advised. "Damn! I got that one wrong!" Matthew said. "Well not all wrong. I am gay." J consoled him. "Ok. But I also missed out the mature, wise and kind bits too." Matthew said. "And intelligent, friendly, cool, and great." Max added. J was blushing scarlet and said, "Awe, come on guys, enough is enough, you will be getting me embarrassed with all this praise." "Oh and definitely modest as well." Sean quipped. They all chuckled at that and then Sean leant forward and said, "J, one thing is for sure, at the next camp they will be queuing up to get in your dorm." "That is if I do a next a camp, you mean!" J said, "You will have to do another camp. In fact you will have to do a lot of camps so that you can help a lot of people just like you helped all sixteen of us in the dorm this camp." Sean said with a note of shock in his voice at the idea of J not dorm leading on another camp. The PA system cackled to life and announced the flight to Stansted, London and within two minutes all the campers were back with J and Matthew. "Man! This is phenomenal! I have never, not had to go in search of someone from a group flight before." Matthew said as soon as they had confirmed that there was no one missing. "Well done! Now follow me and let's head off to the right gate." Matthew called out to them. A few moments later and a three person wide crocodile wound its way following Matthew to the boarding gate.
