He stared out the window at nothing in particular, but made the slightest movement to look at his watch. 11:48PM. He shook his head doubtfully and took a drag of the cigarette. Exhaling, the smoke gracefully flowed from his mouth and out to mingle with the various other scents in the night air. He let his gaze fall to the floor and his satin black hair fell, framing his beautiful face. He sighed loudly and began to hum to the radio that could barely be heard. I stepped forward a bit to find a better position and a twig snapped. I froze in place as I felt his eyes lock onto me in the dark. "Jay," he said in an unsurprised voice, "where the hell have you been, man? I've been waiting for the past hour." He lifted up the screen and it fell to the ground below. I shook my head in disappointment for getting caught. "I've been around." I said as I walked into the light cast by his desk lamp. "Sorry for the wait though. It took me a while to get it." I grinned and he held out his hand. Without effort, he pulled me into his bedroom like so many nights before. He shut the window without replacing the screen. "Then you got it?" He asked as he put out his cigarette. I nodded and took off the backpack I had on and sat on the bed. He grabbed the backpack from me and unzipped it. A wide grin fell across his face and he saw the DVD he'd been wanting to see for ages and my laptop. He took out the DVD and tossed the laptop onto the bed, which I caught quickly. "Why did you bring that?" He asked. I pretended to wipe some dust off the top of it. "'Cause...I thought maybe I could write some tonight while you watched that." This time there was a surprised tone in his voice. "You're not gunna watch it?" I shook my head and shrugged quickly. "I've seen it a million times already. Besides, I wouldn't want to ruin it for your first time." I pulled myself up and backed against his headboard, making myself comfortable. He shrugged and walked over to his DVD player. "Why'd it take you so long to get it anyway?" He asked while he turned off the radio and placed the disk into the player. I looked up from my now-booting laptop and said, "Because. You know my dad won't let me take the DVD's out of the house. I had to wait till he was asleep and I have to get it back tonight before he gets up." He stood there and waited for the menu to come up. "Did he go to bed later than usual?" He asked me this because I took longer this time than the other times I snuck out a DVD. "Yeah," I lied. "He was up working on some project." My dad is an architect, so that was highly believable. But the truth is, he didn't have a project and he didn't go to bed later than usual. He went to bed at 10:00PM and I just walked out the door. I didn't stop anywhere either. I came straight here and, before he even had his window open, I sat down in the grass behind the only tree in his yard, staring up at the emptiness. I heard him talking and my attention snapped back when he hit my arm. "You ok, Jay?" He asked as he sat down next to me. I nodded my head quickly. "Yeah, I'm fine." I lied again. "I'm just thinking." He looked from the TV screen to me for a second. "Anything serious?" He asked and I shook my head in response. "No. Just how much I want to get into your pants." I began to laugh as hard as I could fake. Him and I always said stuff like that 'cause, well, it's funny. He just never noticed that I really did want to get into his pants. Let me fill you in on some things before we go any further. My name is Jay and I'm seventeen about to be eighteen. I'm gay and have been since I was thirteen. The guy whose house I'm at is Chris. He doesn't know about me though. He's my best friend and always has been for as long as I can remember and since puberty, I've fantasized about him. Even when I had sex with my ex I'd think about him. He was the most beautiful creature to walk this planet. Picture, if you can, a nicely built man about five foot nine and only about 160 pounds. His hair has always been the same length: right at his jaw. It was stark black. No shades. Just black and it flowed like silk. It was perfect for him. His eyes were a dark olive green. Just looking into them would make you forget about everything going on around you. His skin was dark, even for an Italian. It almost made him look Latin. His mouth was perfect in every way. Which, to me, was amazing considering the fact he'd been smoking since he was seven. I've only seen him naked once and it was such a blessing. He was very well endowed. (We were skinny dipping... What can I say? Of course I looked.) He had no tan lines at all; just an unbroken caramel color all around. He had very little body hair. I mean, he had pubic hair and the like, but he wasn't hairy. Ok. Anyway...to get back to the story: He laughed at my remark and said, "Oh yeah, huh?" "Yeeeah!" I said louder than I had anticipated. He held up his arm and let his wrist go limp, mimicking a flamer, "Well lets do it honey. Mmm hmm." And he snapped his fingers in my face. We both laughed. "Funny." I mumbled as I felt a hard-on begin in my jeans under the laptop. I opened Word and began to work on the story I'd been writing for almost a year now. He grabbed the remote and pushed play. "Hell yeah. This better be good." He said before he lit another cigarette. "IWTV? Oh yeah, it's good. One of my favorites." I said and looked up to see the title screen. 'Interview With The Vampire.' With Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, both very good-looking men. So, of course it was good. I looked back to the luminescent screen and began to type away. Before long, I had written three more pages. Then I realized that the movie was paused and Chris was staring at the screen, reading what I was writing. I instantly reached up and pulled down the screen. It was silent for a moment, but before I could break the silence, he did. "Jay, you're gay?" My jaw dropped, but I covered it with a quick laugh. "Naw man. I ain't gay. My character is." I said avoiding his eyes, but he ignored what I said. "You know, man," he said looking straight at me. "If you are, it's cool. I don't care." He laid a hand on my shoulder and began to rub it. "Really. It is." My heart began to beat so fast I was sure he could hear it and I was having trouble breathing. I jumped off the bed, and put my laptop in the backpack. "I-I gotta go, Chris. Umm..." I said looking anywhere but at him. "Enjoy the movie." I said quickly and opened the window. He didn't have time to get to me before I was outside and running. He didn't yell, or, if he did, I didn't hear it. At home and in my room, I began to panic. What had happened didn't register and I was freaking out. I kept asking myself, 'Why did he do that? What should I have done? Did I do that right thing by running? Was he hitting on me?' In all the time I had known Chris, he was all about girls. It was his favorite subject. He never once talked about guys. Sure, we kidded around about it, but it would never happen. Right? I threw my hands up in frustration. I couldn't believe this was happening. I suddenly stopped where I stood. Maybe he didn't mean it like that. Maybe, just maybe he was being sincere. Chris? Sincere? Those two words should never even be used in the same sentence. "I can't deal with this right now." I mumbled out loud and took my clothes off. I slipped under the cool sheets and my mind flooded with thoughts. 'Could my fantasies actually come true? Is he gay? If so, then why the act for so long?' I pushed my hand against my forehead as if trying to stop the thoughts. 'Of course he isn't. I was such an idiot for leaving.' I sighed and shook my head. I rolled over and realized it was only 12:30AM. "Fucking hell," I cussed my clock and rolled back over. As I was falling asleep, the phone rang. I jumped up and grabbed the receiver before it woke anyone. "Hello?" I said madly. "Jay?" It was Chris. I covered the mouthpiece and cussed. "Yeah?" I asked. He was quiet for a second then said, "I'm sorry if I scared you off." His voice trailed off and I could hear Metallica's 'Nothing Else Matters' playing on his radio. I didn't say anything. I was too scared to. I bit my lip and put on a pair of boxers. "Jay, I'm gunna come over, ok? Wait for me." He said quickly and hung up. I held the receiver to my ear for a few seconds, not believing what he just said. Coming over? Why? It took me several minutes to actually realize what just happened and before I knew it, I was sitting outside on the front steps. I saw the tip of his lit cigarette before I actually saw him. He was walking on the far side of the street. He stopped across from me and stared for a minute. Flicking his cigarette to the ground, he crossed the street and the moonlight caught his hair. It glimmered like it had thousands of diamonds in it. He walked as if on air. Not a single flaw in his movements. I just sat there unmoving, staring at him. He stopped no more that five feet from me. He looked away for a moment then back to me. "Jay, look, I don't know what happened earlier, but I know what I wanted to happen and it didn't happen." He sat down next to me, but looked at the empty street ahead. I began to shake. Not only from his words, but because I was still in my boxers and the night air was biting at my bare skin. He looked at me and said, "What did happen, Jay?" I couldn't answer. That was something I'd been thinking about all night and I couldn't answer it. I opened my mouth gaping for words like a fish out of water. Without hesitation, Chris leaned forward and laid his lips on mine. Fire shot from his mouth to the rest of my body like a raging out of control blaze, burning me to the very center of my being. The urge I got was to kiss him back and wrap my arms around him. It's what I wanted so badly, but I did the opposite. I jerked away from him and stood up, my now-hard-manhood saluting to the moon. He looked at it for a second and almost said something, but I broke in. "Chris," I shook my head. "What are you doing?" I almost yelled. He quickly stood up. "What do you think I was doing, Jay? I've known for years that you were gay. I mean, we are best friends. It's not like it was hard to see it." I was still gaping like a fish. Not a single word came to mind. So, I did the next best thing. I made a sound. Chris leaned forward and said, "Come again?" All I could do was shake my head. Chris sighed and pulled something out from behind him. "Fine...Here's your DVD." He tossed it to the ground and began to walk off. I glanced and it then yelled after him. "Wait! Chris!" He stopped, but didn't turn around. I walked over to stand in front of him and said, "We need to talk about this." My voice was barely above a whisper. He turned away from me as if he were about to leave again then sighed and nodded. "Yeah," He replied. I looked at the ground for a second then back to Chris and he was looking at me. >From the corner of my eye, I saw someone standing at the door. I turned quickly to see who it was and the yard was quickly flooded with the incandescent orange of the porch light. I squinted my eyes for a second and I could see someone step out. Then the deep voice of my father called out. "Jay, what's going on?" As I began to grab for words, my dad asked another question. "And why are you out here by yourself?" My eyes had adjusted to the light and I looked behind me. Chris was gone. I exhaled the breath I had been holding and I looked back to my dad. "I--I thought I heard something so I came out here to check." My dad looked around and down the street. "It's probably just the raccoons or something. Go shut the trash can and go on to bed." He walked back inside and turned off the light. I walked toward the end of the driveway and heard the door shut. "Chris, Where are you?" Only the crickets answered. I began to cry as I shut the trashcan and sat on the curb. Chapter 2 An annoying buzzing sound was pulling me from my sleep. I tried to resist it, but I couldn't. I opened my eyes and looked at the ceiling which swirled around. I forced myself to focus on the world around me and then I realized that the buzzing sound was my alarm clock. Reaching over to turn it off, I realized that it was 8:00AM. "Mother fucker!" I cursed out loud as I jumped out of bed. I ran into the bathroom and splashed my face with cold water, which pulled me faster back into reality. I ran back into my room and threw on a pair on Kik-Wear and a Billabong t-shirt. As I reached for my backpack, the phone rang. "I don't have time for this!" I almost yelled. Walking over to the phone, I sprayed on some cologne and answered. "Yeah?" I said in a rude tone. "Jay..." It was Chris. "Umm...hey, I was wondering if you could come over in a little bit?" I rolled my eyes and said, "Chris I gotta go to school. I--I'll call you when I get home. Bye." I hung up the phone and ran down the stairs. As I was about to open the door, the phone rang once again. I hit the door with my fist and ran to the phone. "Hello?" I asked almost calmly. It was Chris and he was laughing his ass off harder than I had ever heard. "What's so funny?" I yelled at him, "That I'm going to be late as hell?" He continued to laugh and I said, "Fine. I have to go. Bye, Chris." Right before I hung up, I hear him yell my name. "WHAT?" I yelled back. "Jay..." He managed to say through his laughs. "It's--it's Saturday, you dope." I stopped pacing and looked at the calendar. He was right. It was Saturday. I groaned loudly and shook my head. "Jay, you there?" Chris asked without a single laugh added in. "Yeah. I'm here, but I feel like an idiot." "Hey, it happens to everyone, right? So...will you come over later?" His voice trailed off. I took a deep breath as I let my backpack fall to the floor. "Look, Chris, I don't think it'd be a good idea for me to come over be-" He interrupted me and said, "Jay, if you think that I'm going to try anything, I won't. I promise." He had me there. In all the time that I've known Chris, he's never broken a promise. I was pacing back and forth, almost burning a hole in the rug. I didn't really want to answer, but I had to. "Yeah, but not right now. I have to take a shower and eat, ok?" "Yeah. That's fine. So, I'll see you..." "Probably in a few hours." I finished. "See you then. Bye." I hung up the phone and slowly went back to my room. Still feeling stupid, I stripped my clothes and realized that I still had morning wood. I always released my 'tension.' I laid on the bed and let my mind wonder. Instantly, I started to fantasize about Chris. He was kissing me and worked his way downward. Kissing and licking my neck, still moving downward. Pinching one nipple and sucking on the other only to do the opposite. I ran my fingers through his hair and it flowed between my fingers like water. It was cool, soft, and still beautiful. He continued his kissing-licking journey down my happy trail, teasing me with each lick. Finally, he made it to my erectness. I could feel the energy building up and became tense. I opened my eyes, jumped off my bed, and ran into the bathroom. Quickly pulling up the lid on the toilet, I went, the whole load. I exhaled loudly. As I was about to get in the shower, I heard someone knock on my door. Sighing a little bit, I put my robe on and opened the door. My mother, smiling as wide as she possibly could, said, "Well, good morning to you, Jay!" Right then, I knew that her and my dad had had sex. I quickly forced the thought out of my head and managed a "Morning." She crinkled her face and said, "What would you like for breakfast, sweetheart?" I became embarrassed. "Mom," I began. "I'm not a kid anymore. Don't call me that." She sighed, and, in a more serious voice said, "Fine. What do you want to eat?" I shrugged a little and said, "I guess whatever you're having." I mocked a smile to satisfy her. She nodded and walked downstairs. I shut my door and threw my robe onto the bed, ready to get in the shower. "I'll be back later, mom." I yelled to her as I left on my way to Chris's house. He didn't live far, but my thoughts made it seem miles away. When I was sure that I was out of sight from my house, I reached into my pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes that Chris had given me almost 2 months ago. It still had seven cigarettes in it. Pulling my lighter from the pack, I brought the cigarette to my lips and lit it. It calmed me down a bit, but I was still nervous as hell, and before I had even gotten half way through the cigarette, I reached his house. I took my last drag and held the smoke in for a few seconds longer. Letting it seep from my mouth, I continued, trying to not shake. I was standing at his back door and just as I was about to knock, the door swung open. "Took you long enough." Chris said with a ragged grin on his face. I raised an eyebrow to return the sarcasm. "Come on," Chris said moving out of the door way. "Shut the door behind you." I stepped inside and shut the door. I listened and realized that there wasn't a single sound in the house. Considering that it was almost 12:oo o'clock, it was extremely weird. "Why's it so quiet?" I asked almost in a whisper. "Hmm?" Chris said as he opened the refrigerator fishing around for something to drink. "Oh. I forgot to tell you, I'll be home by myself for almost two weeks. Mom and dad went to Jamaica to celebrate their 25th anniversary. Whoo-hoo, right?" He nervously laughed. I was shocked almost. Chris was even more nervous than I was. He was still looking for something to drink, even though he had only two or three options. Finally, he pulled out a Vanilla Coke and shut the fridge. He turned around and stared at me. This is when I truly saw how nervous he was. His once masculine face was now boyish, his posture sagging, and his eyes were red. At first, I though he had just had another allergy attack, rare as they are. It wasn't allergies. He'd been crying and on top of it all, he looked like shit. He hadn't brushed his hair or changed clothes. "God, Chris," I began, "You look like crap." This was my attempt to break the tension, but it didn't work. His face went from boyish to pissed off. "Yeah, well you stay up all night freaking out about what happened, crying your eyes out like a fucking baby, chain smoking your ass off, and tell me you wouldn't look like shit." I bit my lip in uncertainty. He opened the Vanilla Coke and took a sip. Letting his eyes linger from me, he left the room and I followed. We went into the living room. He chose to sit on the sofa and I chose to sit on the recliner, opposite of him. "Sorry. I didn't mean-" He held his hand up in protest and shook his head. "It's fine." I left it at that and started to wonder what to say next. I opened my mouth to begin, but I still couldn't figure out what to say. He noticed and said, "Yeah, same here." We both laughed, but it was strictly from being so nervous. "I'd been waiting for the right moment to tell you," Chris began. "But, it never came. Don't get me wrong, Jay. I'm not gay. I'm bi. And...to be honest, I've been," He narrowed his eyes and wrinkled his brow, as if he were having trouble finding what words to use. "Err...obsessed with you for a long time now." Before he started talking, I had reached into my pocket to get another cigarette, but now I was sitting there wide-eyed with the cigarette half way to my mouth. He slightly smiled and continued. "I promised myself that I was going to tell you last night and when I started reading your story, I decided that was the time, but you caught me off guard, Jay. Like I said, I know what I wanted to happen, and it didn't happen." Now I could think of something to say. Something that I had been wondering about since it happened. "Then, what did you want to happen?" I lit the cigarette and he followed. We both had taken a hit before he began again. "I wanted to just tell you, I guess, and see what happened. When you caught me off guard, I panicked and forced myself to do something. And I'm sure that you know it wasn't what I wanted to do." He finished and took another sip of the Vanilla Coke. It made a strange kind of since now. I was feeling stupid again because I was right. He didn't mean it the way I had taken it. "When you left," he started again, "I thought I had just killed everything we had built as friends. That's why I came over, Jay. When that didn't go good either, I went home and fell to pieces. I kept thinking about how we'd never be friends again and how if we had any chance to start a relationship, I had just shattered it. I was too scared to sleep just in case you called and I didn't answer." He paused to calm himself down before he started to cry again, but it was too late. Half way through what he was saying he had started to cry. I almost felt like laughing. I mean, I thought I had overreacted big time and it turned out that he was the one who overreacted. "Chris," I said calmly and smiled. "There's nothing in the world that could break our friendship up." I grinned a little, then said, "And the chance of us having a relationship it still there." I smiled again and he looked directly into my eyes smiled back. I got up, walked over to the couch, and knelt down beside him. Holding my arms open, he leaned forward and hugged me tight. I wrapped my arms around him and we both began to cry. He whispered in my ear, "I've been wanting to do this for so long." His voice was shallow and torn by his tears. I closed my eyes and whispered back, "Me too." We hugged tighter and sat there for what seemed like hours. After spending almost three hours talking about what had happened, what we both want, and what should be done, we ended up in his room watching the Matrix, one of our favorites. We were cuddled up on his bed. His arms were wrapped around my waist and I was laying with my head on his chest. Everything felt so right for once. Before the movie had ended, I fell asleep and I had no dreams, at least, none that I could remember. I slowly woke up and smiled, remembering where I was. I rubbed his chest with my hand before opening my eyes. 'If only we could stay like this forever,' I thought to myself. I opened my eyes and looked up at Chris. He had fallen asleep too, but my movement woke him. He rubbed my back and smiled as he opened his eyes. We laid like that for several minutes. Not talking, moving, or making the slightest gesture that either one of us wanted to get up in fear that we would spoil this perfect moment. "If only I could wake up to you every day," He finally said. "Yeah...that'd be great." I said, still in a hazy waking world. He lifted me up and gently put me on the other side of his bed. I groaned in protest, but he got up anyway. He walked over to the television, turned it off and went into the bathroom. I took this opportunity to go get something drink. I was thirsty as hell and wasn't about to kiss him with cottonmouth. On my way to the kitchen, I finally realized what time it was. I quickly walked to the phone in his kitchen and called home. My mom answered. "Hello?" She asked. "Hey, mom." I said relieved that she hadn't gone to bed yet. "Jay, where in God's name have you been? Your father and I have been worried. Do you know what time it is?" She yelled. "Ugh...yeah I know what time it is. Sorry. Chris and I started this tournament and before I knew it, it was 10:30. Sorry." I lied. I tried to never lie to my her, but sometimes you just have to. "Yeah, I bet you are. Your father wants to talk to you." Now I was in deep shit. I heard her hand to phone to him and pulled the phone from my ear. It was a good thing I did too. "Boy, when you get home, I'm going to beat the living hell out of you!" He yelled at the top of his lungs. "Dad." I began. "I don't want any excuses!" He argued back. "Dad," I tried to get his attention, but it didn't work. "I want you home right now, Jay!" I heard him slam his fist on something, probably the coffee table. "Yeah, right dad. Look, I'll see you guys tomorrow. I'm spending the night over here. Talk to you then! Tell mom I love her. Bye." I said as fast as I possible could and hung up. I exhaled loudly and rubbed my face with my hands. I couldn't believe what I had just done. My dad would kill me for sure now. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if he walked over here and made a scene. I put it out of my head and stared in confusion. Remembering why I was in the kitchen in the first place, I walked over to the fridge and took out a Vanilla Coke, one of my favorite drinks. The cool liquid brought my mouth back to life and also woke up my stomach. It had been almost twelve hours since I had last eaten. I walked over to the pantry and browsed through the foods. Finally, I decided to just munch. I wasn't really in the mood to cook, so I took out a bag of Doritos and went back to Chris's room, but he wasn't in there. Author's Note: There is one more installment of this story. I have yet to add any more due to being extremely busy. However, I can be persuaded to hurry up. Hehe. Just let me know if you want me to keep writing, and I will. BUT, if no one tells me to finish this after I submit the next section, then I will not finish the story. I'm too busy to waste my time...and if no one wants to read it, then it's a waste of my time. :-p Sorry to be so blunt, but that's how it is. Also, if you send me an e-mail and rag on me, you will not recieve a reply. Don't bother or it'll be a waste of YOUR time. :-p
