Both father and son bolstered together to face the onslaught of Emily. She was very angry and impatient with the progress of things during the divorce proceeding. She was becoming dismayed with the ruling. Apparently, she had her lawyer to ensue in obtaining millions of dollars from Cornelly. However, it backfired as the truth be told in the courtroom. She's having these idiosyncratic beliefs that she was entitled to all the demands. She adjudged it was opportune as part in the divorce settlement. She was, in reality, desperately in needs for the money to continue her luxuriant lifestyle. Ever since the separation, she fell into a budget constraint without Cornelly's hand out, and had decided on making an ostentatious assertion for herself, denying the accusation by Cornelly's lawyer on her characters. However, when the truth was told, she faltered with disgraced, and she lost the case. Predominantly defeated by a single letter that she had signed, as an agreement made between them before they got married. Its concern with the ownership of their respective assets where should the marriage failed down the line. All this while, she assumed that Cornelly would have unremembered, misplaced or even lost it. She did always wonder if they're ever going to stay married for a very long time. During her marriage to Cornelly, she had been living in a well-suited lifestyle. He would unquestionably give her any amount of money needed to upkeep her opulent way of living. It undeniably gave her a fulfilling and rewarding life. However, she made a grave mistake when she had forced Nick to get engaged to Amy. That it was the apogee of everything that could go wrong. Nick was incandescent with anger against his mother, and it created an emotional strain that could explode into ruthlessness at any time. It orchestrated to a loud argument and disagreement of words between them, right in front of Emily's friends. It only ended with Cornelly castigate her, for the very first time in their marriage life. In the end, she's been exposed as a liar and cheater, finding her sexual fulfillment with other men, behind Cornelly's back. She felt humiliated and shamed with the disclosure, and that was the downfall of her and because of it, she had lost everything. The event in the courtroom was still fresh on her mind. The Courthouse. "Your Honor, what we have here, is a direct cause of divorce that my client had enforced upon the claimant. Which is not supposedly be put on trial for whatever reason that the claimant had? It clearly stated, documented and agreed upon with the prenuptial agreement letter, signed by the claimant. Whom herself brings the case against my client, in this court of law, before they got married. It was as a condition set, if they want to go ahead and get married. It was subsequently, bear witness by two lawyers, representing both parties, with two adult witnesses, which are the father and mother of my client. There is nothing more to say about it, in this entire instance, then a request, for it is dismissed." That was the opening speech made by Cornelly's family and Cornelly's personal corporate lawyer, Abraham Hardy. Abraham had been the assigned trusted lawyer for the Cornelly's family and his main law adviser for his firm for the last twenty over years. He was a young lawyer back then, when the elder Cornelly's engaged him to draft out the prenuptial agreement for both Cornelly and Emily to agree on before they got married. It was a request from Cornelly's parents' insistence, to safeguard the Cornelly's wealth. They were not very fond of Emily back then. Nevertheless, Cornelly had been insisting in wanting to marry her, against his parents' wishes. "But your honor, my client is not refuting the divorce as per presented by the defendant. She was only asking what she was justifiable after marrying the defendant for the last twenty years. As per my client submission of her requisition, that was all she asked for." Shantel Hardy the lawyer who representing Emily proclaimed. "I indubitably believe that my client deserves what is being asked. It was stipendiary at the time; she was a Mrs. Cornelly." Shantel Hardy was a young lawyer, who just took over the case from her late father, Gregory John Hardy. He was the actual presiding lawyer who was present when Emily signed the agreement. Emily chose Shantel, in spite of her inexperience in the family courtroom. Nevertheless, it was by gut feeling, because she was the daughter to the late Gregory Hardy. "Counselor, the way this case is proceeding, it is totally out of line. We are all regulated by law and to law, to make this country a safe place to live in. Your client had known what is the percussion in signing the prenuptial agreement, and it is by law-abiding, that she had to follow." Judge Judy Clement retorted. She was one tough cookie to handle. In the sitting gallery, seated quietly were, Hayden, Nick and Mikael. Hayden tried so hard to stay positive and not to portray any look of worries. He wanted to constantly have a smile upon his face. Occasionally, Cornelly would turn around to look at Hayden, and he will without fail be smiling towards his man. The two boys were different; both gotten worried over the outcome to the case and had comforted each other by intertwining each other a hand. "Your honor, I would like to call on my first witness, Miss Emily Granger." Emily startled when she got called as a witness by Cornelly's counselor. She rose from her sitting position and walked slowly towards the stand. After she took the imprecation of to speak the truth and nothing but the truth by the court clerk, she seated herself poise behind the witness stand. "Miss Emily, are you a good wife to my client and a pleasurable mother to your son?" Cornelly's lawyer began. "I object, to the asked question, your honor. The counselor is trying to implicate character profiling to my client. It got nothing to do with this case." Shantel unhesitatingly sprang into action to disagree. "Counselor, what do you expect to come out with this question?" Judge Judy questioned Abraham. "It has everything to do with this case your honor. It will show that my client, and his son had been silently being controlled and emotional abused with the way the claimant had treated them." Abraham stated clearly. "We are not trying to portray the defendant in any way that is not right before the court, but it needs to know the truth of what has actually been going on in the house." He continued. "Objection denied. Miss Emily, please do answer the question." Emily appalled when Judge Judy looked at her straight, in her eyes. She knew then that she was not able to get away from answering the question. She took a deep breath and speaks, "I am a competent wife and a good mother to the two unappreciative people." Emily began with an austere remark. "I object to the remark your honor. The witness is trying..." Abraham was abruptly stopped mid-sentence by the judge. "Miss Emily, please just answer the question. I forbid to any degrading remark is to be said in my courtroom. Do you understand what I am saying?" Judge Judy was kind of pissed off with Emily at that moment. "Like I say, I am a good wife and mother. If not, why would I be living with them for the last twenty over years?" Emily replied arrogantly tittered while looking indirectly at Cornelly. She smirked when she noticed that the judge had a looked of consideration on her face. She was overly confident that she could win the case and be rich for life. Even so, she's taken aback when the judge turned to Cornelly lawyer to speak. "Mr. Abraham, I need to address your client." Abraham nodded to approve. "Mr. Cornelly, you stated here, this divorce proceeding was due to the claimant's uncharacteristic behavior. Why does it take twenty over years to do this, if I may ask?" The judge then turned to Emily and said, "You can go back to sit with your lawyer." Emily walked away from the chamber with her nose held up high and got her seated beside her lawyer, Shantel. Instantaneously, Cornelly turned to looking at the three remarkable people of his life at the stand. He prolonged his gazed when it came to Hayden, as he felt collected and composed whenever he got to see the smile on Hayden handsome features as he slowly turned to facing the Judge while standing up straight. He straightens up his blazer and looked directly at the judge. Succinctly, Cornelly began his speech. "Your honor, first I would have to thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak." He took a deep breath and turned to looking at Hayden again for comfort. "The marriage lasted for over twenty over years, simply for one very obvious reason your honor. That is for my son not to grow up without a mother. And nineteen over years, I had seen and witness the way my wife; ex-wife had treated him with lots of controlled and dictatorship if I may recall." It was not easy for Cornelly to continue, as he began to choke from the build up emotion. However, he had to do it for the sake of his son, Nick. "But the last straw came about a few weeks ago. She lambasted him for being who he is and forcing him to get engaged to someone he was not in love with. She did also accuse me of not being a good husband after all the things I have done. I've been working hard to provide for the family and especially to her luxurious expenditure throughout our matrimonial life." "He turned himself into a queer, a fag and all of it because of that fag queen!" Emily shouted on top of her lungs, startling everyone, including the judge. "Listen here Miss Emily, one more time you outburst like that in my courtroom, I will not hesitate to charge you with contempt in court. And I would not procrastinate to send your sorry self straight to jail. Do you understand?" Judge Judy was furious with Emily's outburst and reprimanded her. "But your honor..." Emily tried to state her argument. However, she was immediately shut off by Judge Judy. "There's shall no more argument coming from you. You are in my house. I expect you to follow every rule and regulation adhere. Do you understand what I am saying?" Judge Judy sighed heavily and was gesturing for Cornelly to continue. In her mindset, she was pretty adamant against what the outcome of this proceeding. "Your honor, I do not want to waste your time any longer then it supposed to be. I simply want to move on with my life with my new family." He looked back at the sitting gallery stand again. Hayden was all smiles listening to what Cornelly had said. "There, sitting in the gallery stand, your honor, is my son Nick, his boyfriend Mikael and my soul mate, Hayden." Emily was beyond shock to hear the divulgence of Cornelly and Hayden's relationship. "What does this all mean? All this while I am married to a queer?" Emily was blowing fumes through her nose in detestation "These are so repugnant and absurd. It's never in my life, did I ever imagine marrying someone like you." Emily spoke callously towards Cornelly. She managed to get everyone to startle with her outburst. Cornelly totally ignored the unwarranted remark from Emily. He wanted to keep on delivering his speech. "Your honor, that man, sitting in the stand, did not change me into a fag or gay, as he was not a homosexual either. However, he had me change into a better person, a man who I'm supposed to be in the last nineteen over the years." He paused for a little breathe. "He made me to realize that I am capable of loving someone whole heartedly. I am now, becoming a man who is full of compassion and life." "Your honor, we fall in love knowing who we are and not what the society dictated us to be. He shows me what true love is and how to love passionately." He shed a few tears as he made that beautiful speech. Hayden was silently crying at the stand. "I need him more, than he ever needs me, your honor" Without Judge Judy realizing it, she had tears cascading from her eyes. She was seen wiping it away with a tissue that the court clerk had passed to her. "So, what are deducing, concerning to this case?" She spoke with a slight cracked in her voice. "I am not a man without a heart of commiseration your honor. After all, she is still a mother to my son. As much, I want to uphold the prenuptial agreement and would not want to give her any single cent, this is my offer for consideration." He straightened his blazer and carried on. However, he turned to looking at his new family as he smiled widely at the three of them. Hayden was gesturing for him to continue to speak to the judge. "I am considering giving her three hundred thousand dollars as a separation gift." Cornelly took a very deep breath. The view from the stand, Hayden could see Cornelly's chest expanding and pumping in a slow motion. "Further to that, your honor, I am not ever going to contest to the money she had already taken, worth four hundred thousand dollars from the home safe box, including all the jewelry. Which she owned and bought with my hard-earned money. It's estimated at a value of three hundred thousand dollars. All of that she can keep your honor. However, with regard to the abode, it is still and always be my abode, and I would not be handing it to her as I had decided to demolish it and to build a new home for my new family, your honor. That's all I've got to say." With that, Cornelly sat down and breathed deeply, Actually, before the court proceeding, Cornelly and Hayden had a lengthy discussion. Together, they came out with a sum of money to give to Emily. However, it was never being discussed of the outcome in the house. It was a beautiful house to begin with, and just to destroy it will be a waste. Nevertheless, Hayden knew that Cornelly must have a deep thought about it and no matter what, he will support his man ever decision. "Does your client or you have anything to say Miss. Shantel?" The judge was looking to her right side of the claimant table for any objection. However, all was silence. Emily looked dejected, and she knew that it was not ever going her way. She succumbed to her defeat and just remains silent. "No, your honor." Shantel replied. "Is there anything else to add on the defendant side?" She looked at the defendant's table. It was totally two sets of different emotions could be seen from the two tables. She knew what her verdict will be and do not want it to prolong any longer with much hesitation. "No, your honor." Abraham replied. "Alright, in regard to the case 1482, Granger versus Cornelly, I'm deducing a verdict of a non-challenge to the defendant and for the claimant to abide by the prenuptial agreement. Further, to that, I am summoning the claimant two thousand dollars for the courtroom outburst and for it be paid immediately." Judge Judy hit the gravel on the pedestal three times before she left the courtroom. "All rise for Judge Judy, and the court is dismissed." The court clerk commanded out loud. There was a sense of relieved in the courtroom. However, before Cornelly left the table. He gave a manly handshake to his lawyer for a job well done and passing him the prepared check and given it to Emily's lawyer and immediately left to meet his family. He unhesitatingly ran into the stand area and grabbed hold of Hayden, sinewy him in a tight embrace while silently sniffling on Hayden's shoulder. He felt so serene when holding his man in his arm as Hayden gently rubbing his back. After a while, they parted from each other, and Cornelly changed his attention to Nick and Mikael. He tightly embraced them as close as possible. They all knew; from that moment, everything will be alright and their lives together will always be blessed by GOD. Finally, they could be happy and secure in the knowledge that they would be with each other that night, and every other night, for the rest of their lives. Is it really over now...only GOD will know. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ I have created a mailing list.
