It's Gonna Be Love - Chapter 3 By Matt417 There was a month left of summer. Ryan and I were back together, making the most of our month together. Both of our houses were free from parental units, so it was easy to just come over. My mom was on a business trip, which really isn't a rare occurance. Ryan's mom is rarely around either. I think we could both understand why our parents worked so much. Well, they were both single moms. I think they felt uncomfortable spending time with their teenage sons. They'd both been working so much in the past, that my mom barely knew me, and Ry's mom barely knew him. My mom is an RCMP officer, so she travels around the country alot. Ry's mom is the vice president of something at RBC. We mostly stayed at Ry's place because he has a pool. He's obviously rich. He doesn't like to admit it and his family doesn't act like it, but I know that they've got tons of money in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. And they have a pool. I saw his bank balance once and it completely blew me away. It was a very large 5 digit number. And this is money that he can spend, not money that is closely monitored by the parents. It probably shouldn't have surprised me, though. Ry's mom gives him money as if it were candy. He just never spends it. I also think he got a lot of money from his dad. His dad still pays child support, but Ry never talks about his dad. And Ry has a pool (he's so rich). "CANNON BALL!!" he yelled. I was totally unprepared for it, and I ended up swallowing some water. We were swimming in his pool (he's so rich). I swam over to Ry and splashed water in his face like a madman. "Ahhh!! Stop!" "No!" He wasn't gonna get away easy. "I'll do anything!" he screamed. I stopped. "Anything?" I asked. "Yeah. Well, no, maybe not anything. But what do you want?" "You." I could feel myself getting harder and harder. He looked down at me, and just laughed. He swam around me, and held me from behind. He ran his hand over my stomach, making me shiver. "Maybe later." he said softly. Damn, that boy was such a tease. We had tons of fun in his pool, and also some other kids of 'fun' which I won't get into right now. His mom came home once in the middle of the week, so I got to actually meet her in person for the first time. She seemed nice enough, but a little distracted by work. It was quite obvious that her work ruled her life, and that made me feel sorry for Ryan. At least now we had each other. The days were scorching hot. Both of us got a good tan as we rode shirtless on our bikes down Lakeshore a lot, and sometimes when no one was around, we'd stop and lie down on the beach watching the sunset. One night, we were doing just that when Ry asked, "Where do you wanna be a year from now?" It was a good question. I hadn't thought about that. I knew that I would go to university as long as I took as little sciences as possible. But what if Ry and me had different plans for the future. What if we went to different colleges? "I wanna be with you. But I still don't know what I want to study after high school. What are you gonna do?" "I wanna go into medicine. I'll go to whatever university you go to though." "Why don't you try to get into McMaster for health sciences?" I asked. It was the best program in the province. "I'll go wherever you go." he said. "I don't wanna think about it. I'll just see what I like, see what appeals to me." "Do you think after high school, things will be different?" he asked. "Different how?" "I mean, will we still be together? Are people in college gonna be different from high school?" "Yeah, we'll be together. Don't worry 'bout that. Don't worry about college, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it." "I'm just worried that people will be, you know..." "They're not gonna torture you, ok? What's there to make fun of? You're awesome." "It's just hard to forget." "I got some advice for you, Ry. Don't look back, don't even look forward, because everything is right in front of you." I said. Our last month of summer flew by quickly. Like I said, we rode our bikes a lot, we swam in Ry's pool, watched a bunch of movies, went downtown, hung out with our friends, stuff like that. Close to the end of summer, I decided that I needed to get a job. "I should've kept that McDonald's job," I joked. "Haha, you know... I hated that job." "You put together that Big Mac pretty well." "The thing is, you never get used to the smell there. And plus, I burnt my hand on the grill way too many times." "Aha! And you called me an idiot when I burnt myself." He turned a bright shade of red. "Hey, I was just being an ass. I'm sorry." "Naw, it's okay. Don't worry 'bout it. That's behind us now." I ended up working at Tim Horton's. For those of you who don't know what it is, it's kinda like a restaurant, but more like a coffee and donut shop, but they have a breakfast and lunch menu. Very homestyle. And if you haven't heard of Tim Horton's, either you live outside of North America, or you live in a bubble. Ryan teased me like crazy. He called me, "muffin boy" and "timmy" and all sorts of names that lack wit. "Hey, I'm doing it purely for the money, ya know." "Right, Kyle, the money. OF course. You need money?" "Not like you'd know how it feels." I pointed out. "Hey, I live 'comfortably'. I'm not rich." "Ha, don't gimme that bull. I saw your bank balance. And I know your PIN." I said. "What? How do you know?" "Oh... ya know. My sources are reliable. You know what, let's just call it source X." "Fine, what's the PIN?" "******" "Wrong." he said, smiling. "It's right. I know when you're lying. Your eyes move left, and then you smile." "You've got me all figured out, don't you?" I started working at Tim Horton's the last week of summer. They trained me well, and my co-workers were all nice to me. I knew some of them from school already. "One medium coffee and a toasted bagel, please." I looked up from the cash register and saw Ryan. I smiled. "How would you like your coffee, SIR?" "Hmm.. I want some CREAM in my coffee." "That may take a while for me to get, sir. The machinery works, it just takes a while. You'd think for equipment that large, it would come out easier." "You know, you're sick. Seriously, I want cream. Normal cream. Doesn't take a source X to know that." I handed him his coffee and bagel and he said at the table closest to the register. He ate, while staring at me. There was no one else around since it was midnight. "You know, it's just you and me here." I said. "This could make for an interesting scenario." "Don't even think about it. There's security cameras." "Awww, have a little fun in your life. Gimme the cream cheese." "Now who's the sick-minded one?" "No, really, gimme the cream cheese." Though confused, I passed him the cream cheese. He took his plastic knife, smeared it with the cream cheese, went over to the camera and pasted it on the lens. Then he came over to me, kissed me, and the rest I'll leave up to your imagination, because you'll probably have a really good idea of what went on. The next week, school started. Bummer, I know. I had Law, English, Economics, and Calculus for the first semester. I had Law, English, and Calculus with Ryan. We both went to the guidance office so that we could have at least 3 classes together. Economics was probably the worst class because Ry wasn't there. Barbie was in two of my classes. She didn't speak to me, though I grinned like an idiot at her. I made a lot of new friends in Calculus. I, like I said, am not a math/science person. So Ryan helped me out, but I felt guilty going to him all the time, so I had to make some connections. There was a guy who helped me out, his name was Cameron. He was a really cool guy. Played on the basketball team, too. We became close friends over the course of the semester. Lunch was usually Ryan, me, Cameron, and three other friends that really aren't important to this story, but are good friends of mine. We talked about a lot of guy things, like sports, cars, girls, the latest parties, stuff like that. When we talked about girls, Ry and I enjoyed just pretending. I tried to make him laugh, talking about Sarah Monroe and saying how "sexy" she was. "Oh yeah, that girl is DAMN fine." I said. "Definitely, look at that ass. That is just HOT," said Ry. "I would do her any day, MAN." "Yeah, DAWG." "Props, YO." We started cracking up, but no one else knew why. We laughed for five minutes straight, forgetting that it really wasn't that funny. When Ry laughed, I started laughing. And when I laughed, he couldn't stop laughing. It was times like that when we had our other friends convinced that we were addicted to coke. After fifth period, I saw Barbie in the hallway. "We need to talk," she said. "'Bout what?" I asked. "Just come outside." I followed her outside. She looked around to see that nobody was around. "I know your dirty little secret." Each word struck a blow to my mind. No! How could she know?? How did we slip up? Ry and I made it completely secret in school. No one was supposed to know that we were gay or that we were together. "When all is said and done, does she love you the way that I do?" she asked. "She?" "Yeah, Michelle Brown." Michelle! She thought I was going out with Michelle. Wow, old rumors still live apparently. "Oh! Umm.. YEah! She loves me." There was an awkward silence. I could almost hear the crickets chirping. "For the past month and a half, I've been hurting, you know! The hurt is so physical! I can't let you go, I can't get out! You know what, I've said enough by now. You and your little girlfriend are gonna be history!" "Umm.. ok!" "By the way, she looks like an oober-dyke!" "Cool." I said, not knowing how to respond. When I told Ryan what happened later on, all we could do was laugh. We laughed until tears came to our eyes, and our stomachs ached. We were literally exhausted just from laughing. When our we finished being idiots, we lay down on his couch with him on top of me, and just stared into each others' eyes. He had beautiful blue eyes. They were magnetic, I couldn't take my eyes off of his. "You know, if I were with anyone else, this would be so awkward, just staring at each other, not saying anything. But with you, this just feels right." he said. "Your eyes are really expressive, you know that?" "K, then what am I thinking?" he asked. "You love me?" He looked surprised. "Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking! Seriously though, how did you know?" "I told you. Your eyes give it away." "Yeah, that's possible. Or you could be... a witch! Burn him! He's using witchcraft!" he yelled. "Shhh... it's our little secret," I joked. "You're casting a spell on me, aren't you?" "Mmm... could be a love spell." "Well, it's working." he said. "Prove it." "Well... I've been saving something for you." he said, putting his hands on my shoulders. "Oh yeah? And what is it?" "It's a secret." "Tell me." "No, I think I'll leave it up to your source X to find out." he laughed, and looked down at me smiling. I loved it when he lay on top of me and looked at me like that. "I'll tell you a secret if you tell me a secret." I said. "Okay, you first." "Okay. There is no source X. Your turn" I said, smiling. "I love you." "Hey, that's not a secret!" I said, gently punching his arm. "Yeah it is, unless you want me to tell everyone else." "No, that's okay. Fine," I grumbled. "Tell me another secret," he said, giving me his puppy dog eyes. "I think you're the hottest, most beautiful boy with the strongest and sweetest personality in the whole world. Your turn." "The very first thing I thought when I first saw you was that you have wicked muscles." That made me blush. I had been working out for a long time. I wasn't a hulk or anything though. Just a bit built. "My turn again?" I asked. "Yep." "Okay," I said. "You're the first person I've ever gone out with." "Really??" "Yeah." "Cool." "Your turn." I said. "Okay, get ready for this." "No." "Why not?" "I love this position. When you're just lying on top of me, talking." "I'm not saying we have to move. Just get mentally prepared," he said. "Okay." "I've been saving up money to get you something. Here, I've got it in my closet." He got up and opened his closet, taking out a box. "Open it," he said. I opened it, and found a digital camera. "Wow thanks! This is giving me some kinky ideas. Are we gonna use this to take pictures of us in strange positions??" "Haha, no. Good idea, but no. We'll have lots of pictures to take, though." "So what's the big deal? What are we gonna take pictures of?" I asked. "You. And me." "I see..." I said, still not understanding. He dug down in the box and handed me a brochure. Book your times now, call 1-800 yadayadayada and enjoy a beautiful vacation to... Hawaii!! "Holy shit," I said. "I know!" "When are we going?" "Christmas Break." "Have I told you how much I love you?" We talked about our trip and planned out what we would do. Our parents were okay with it, I don't think they really cared, but that's okay. The trip was 3 months away, so we had tons of time to prepare. At school, things were going fine. Barbie didn't say much to me. I felt kinda sorry for her. But I knew that it didn't matter what I said to her. She wouldn't listen. Michelle pulled me aside at lunch to talk to me. I think I knew the gist of what she would say. "Kyle! Baby, I haven't seen you in a while!" "Yeah, umm last time I saw you was at Josh's party. Good times, eh?" "Oh yeah. I remember. That's a night I'll NEVER forget." "So how you been?" I asked. "Actually, do you know Barbara Wilson?" "Yep. Barbie doll." "Hehehe! I thought the same thing when I heard her say her name was Barbie! We're like, so meant for each other, Kyle! How many other people would think the same thing? I'm telling you, we have a mysterious connection." "Uhh right. Maybe we're like siblings or something." "Oh, no. I was thinking something else... but anyway, this girl, Barbie, she's head over heels for you, Kyle. She left a note in my locker that said, 'Think twice before you touch my boy'. And then, in vocal class, she told me that you two are going out. Is that true?" "No, it's not. You know how much I love you!" I don't know how I said that without laughing. She blushed. "I love you too, you know. By the way, you might hear something about me and Chris Howard going out, but... um... that's not true. So you wanna go out Friday night?" The bell rang. "Whoops, gotta go to class, don't wanna be late, ya know? Talk to you later, Michelle." The next day, neither of them (Michelle or Barbie) talked to me, and I didn't see them anywhere. "Hey, dude, your girlfriend's got a black eye! Who'd she fight with?" said some guy I don't even know. Holy shit! The two of them must've gotten in a fight. Haha, that's hilarious! "I think it must've been Barb Wilson," I said. "Awesome! DUDE! I would've paid to see that." he said. I admit, I would've too. That's a once in a lifetime thing. A catfight between two girls that want you! Ryan and our other friends found out the news on their own. Apparently, it was the hottest rumor in the school and probably would be for the next week at the very least. Ryan and I decided that the best course of action would be to tell them both that I had no interest in either of them. This didn't work, of course, as both of them came to me and told me that I was in denial. So Ry and I just decided to let them do what they want. We both found it funny how clueless they were anyway, and concluded that it was okay for them to drool over me because it would boost our reputation, and it didn't even cost us anything. The september sun set earlier every day. The temperature dropped gradually and very slowly. I hated to see Ryan stop wearing his sexy sleeveless shirts, but I loved cuddling up to him for warmth. The colours of the leaves changed, and that's one of the reasons why I love living in Canada. I love taking walks in the park with Ry and watching the leaves turn into the colours of fire, blazing in the sun. The breeze feels cool on my skin. When no one's around, I can hold Ryan close to me and just make sweet-talk. When I look up at the sky, I remind myself that this moment will never return, so I savour the moment and give Ryan a sweet kiss on the lips. It's days like this that I know I'm living the best days of my life.
