Okay, time for the regular disclaimer:This is a story of mature themes (at some points at least). This may include some sexual acts. Be advised that if you're not 18 or older, (or whatever it is where you live), you shouldn't be reading. But if you defy this, it ain't my fault.

Well, welcome to my first attempt at internet fiction. This is the main branch of this story, following Kel. There are future plans to expand this story to talk about other characters, but for now Kel isthe narrator. This story really isn't designed to be an literary orgy, more a story of relationships, friends, and dreams. The chapters may seem a bit on the short side as of yet, but that's because I'm still new to actually writing down my story ideas. I'm open to any comments.

The place this story takes place is a fictional town in Central New Jersey. There will be references to other areas that happen to be real places.

If you are offended by the opinions expressed in this story, just remember they are those of the characters, and do not necessarily reflect those of their creator (ME).

August 5

I have to admit I detest August. First off, I'm not exactly a fan of extreme temperatures. Unfortunately, living in New Jersey means I have to deal with both extremes of hot and cold. Secondly, when it's August it instantly brings about an aura that school will reopen soon. My birthday is August the First, but I prefer to call it July 32nd. That way I don't feel so bummed about going back to school.

This is finally the first summer where I have some freedom in what I can do. Sarah turned seventeen five months ago, so she finally has reached the age for a license here in Jersey. My parents won't get us a car (but Sarah and I are working on it), so we've had to use the car of Sarah's boyfriend Greg. Look, before you start getting any ideas, I will tell you that I hate the son of a bitch and the only reason I tolerate him is because we need his car. He's a self-centered brat, and a complete asshole to boot. Spoiled rich bastard, I mean Greg, lives in the rich part of town where kids get there cars before they can even drive.

Despite my misgivings for my sister's choice in men, we all decided to go down the Shore. Drew would come along, since I absolutely needed someone to stop me if I felt the urge to punch Greg right in his mouth. We decided on Point Pleasant, a boardwalk community full of all the splendors. Carnival games, beach side grills, arcades: the whole nine yards. I like going there because I have gotten a knack for these games. I have spent more than enough of my parents' money to learn the secret to games of skill. No one can beat me in a water gun race, unless they cheat somehow (believe me, Drew and Sarah are both guilty of this). It has become the best way to get on the twins good side: give them crappy $4 stuffed animal that I spent forty dollars trying to get.

After an agonizing drive (lots of traffic), we finally settled in a parking spot. We headed for the beach, paid for our badges (New Jersey: the only place in the world where you have to pay for the damn beach), and set up camp.

I took off my shirt to work a bit on my tan. I noticed a few girls looking at me once I was barechested. I guess all my running and working out have paid off. I'm a member of the school track team, and I run a lot. I'm a bit modest, but most people would admit I have a good body. I'm of average height 5'11", a fit build (not really muscular, but you can see some definition). According to Sarah, my best feature is my eyes, a unique gray color. My features are pretty average. My hair is a unique dark auburn, worn pretty much like everyone else.

Tanning can be a bit of a bore after awhile, so eventually I needed to get something to eat. I recruited Drew to come with me. I couldn't convince Sarah to come, she wasn't all that hungry. Even if Greg was on the verge of starvation, I knew he would refuse in order to get alone time with my sister. Not surprisingly, as soon as Drew and I starting walking away, he pounced on my sister.

Drew and I ordered enough food for the daily calorie requirement of three days combined. For some odd reason, I can't resist greasy boardwalk food. Hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, and the king of all fatty foods, the funnel cake. while we were eating, the two of us began talking about the upcoming year. I had a very good academic freshman year, and I just needed to add some more transcript boosting activities. The only things I really did were track and the school chorus (I have a great singing voice). I had always loved writing, so we talked about joining the newspaper. Most of the people are considered to be 'geeks,' but I don't give a shit about judgements of others. After we finished our foods, I needed to get some action in. It's Game Time!

I was killing as usual at the water gun game. Drew played, but I noticed around the third game he started squirting the water at himself. Soon as I finished getting my gigantic stuffed dog (good bribe for the gruesome twosome), I feel Drew punching my arm.

"Hey Kel!"

"What is it Drew?"

"Those two girls. They've been watching you for about ten minutes."

"Okay." I stared at them. They weren't knockouts, but they were kinda cute.

Now Drew didn't knew about my secret. To my knowledge, Sarah is the only one who knows. I wasn't about to out myself on the beach, so I went along. In my opinion, I really thought they weren't all that nice. They just didn't do anything for me. Fortunately, they were from New York, meaning I probably would never have to see them again. I was ready to go back to camp to break up the lovefest.

Sarah welcomed me back. "Hi, Kel. So what did you guys do?"

"The usual. Eating, games." I decided to talk about our conversation, "We met some girls, but they were pretty much bitches, so we came back."

Greg pulled himself up to respond, "Maybe you should have stayed with them. Maybe then you could get some tail." Typical Greg. Sarah had probably told him I was a virgin, so he has "made it his mission" to get me laid. To be honest, I don't think sex is all that important at this point.

I'm one of those "sex is for people who really love each other" people. Adversely, Greg was a horny bastard who hated the fact I got in the way of doing my sister a lot of the time.

"Greg!" Sarah yelled back. "What he does is his choice. Not everyone is you." Quick! Go for the kill! Dump him! When that didn't happen (probably better: we would have been stranded), I just decided to take a nap.

"Kel! Wake the hell up!" Drew was yelling at me.

Sarah added, "It's almost 6:30. If we're gonna get home by eight, we have to leave."

We got back in the car and headed home. Mom and Dad demanded we be home by eight, since they had to go out for a dinner. They felt better that we were home when they left.

So we dropped of Drew, and Greg, Sarah, and I headed for our house. As I expected, Greg was staying here to get with my sister.

I retreated to my room. Went on the internet for awhile, then I decided to send Greg home. I called his mom and dad to tell them we have arrived home. Apparently, he didn't give them a time they would get home. Much to Greg's chagrin, they came to pick him and his car up. He knew I called them, but I don't care if he know I want him out of my sister's life.

Later that night, my sister came into my room. She wanted to talk.

"Kel, I have a question. Why do you hate Greg so much?"

"First off, he's a total asshole. Then, he just want to get into your pants."

"You're last point is about the motive of every boyfriend in the world."

"Well, what about what he did to Mark last year? Don't you remember that? You're boyfriend's a bigot."

"He's changed."

"No he hasn't. If he found out I'm bi, he would pummel me into intensive care."

My sister didn't respond.

"Sarah, you can get better. You're beautiful, sweet, and smart. Don't let Greg fool you: He's still the same jerk you started with. I know

he has money and a car, but they don't mean shit if he's not worth it."

I can sense she is starting to agree. "You're probably right. But-"

"But nothing. Do you love him?"

"No."

"We have to get you a new boyfriend."

"Okay. But while were at it, maybe you could manage to look."

"Huh?"

"What do you expect to do? Just wait around until a flamer falls into your lap? The only way you'll find a guy who won't signal a big rainbow flag about your sexuality is to look hard for a closet case."

"I know you're right. I'm just scared."

"But you have me. I'm always there for you Kel."

And I know that's true. That's the kind of girl she is. Hopefully, we'll succeed at finding a better life.
