"Nothing." I lied "Bullshit" Aaron said as he looked down at me with a raised eyebrow and pursed lips. "If nothing is wrong, then why are you suddenly acting nervous and holding on to me with a death grip?" "I'm just really scared" I said ruefully as my eyes darted away from him. "Tuck, look at me" I looked back into Aaron's eyes and he wiped some of the water away from my face that was starting to collect there from the shower. "What" I said while giving him my pouty lip face. "What?" Aaron laughed sarcastically mocking my pouty look with an exaggerated one of his own. It made me smile and I relaxed....just a little bit. "Tucker, don't you know that I will never hurt you?" He said I let go of Aaron and turned my back to him and faced the shower head. "Don't make promises that you might not be able to keep." I said quietly "What the fuck is that supposed to mean?" Aaron said. He was getting angry and it was obvious from the tone of his voice. "Can we please talk about this out of the shower?" I pleaded. "Fine!" Aaron snapped and started to get out of the shower. I turned off the water in the shower and looked back just as Aaron was stepping out of it. I know that we were fighting, but I couldn't help but look at him. My god he was beautiful. It wasn't the first time that I had ever seen Aaron naked, there had been plenty of times in the past, but this was the first time that I consciously surveyed him and took the time to appreciate just how absolutely gorgeous this boy really was. His skin was so smooth, and the summer months spent swimming and lying out at the pit had turned his skin to a golden tan with no obvious tan lines. His body was thin, but definitely in shape. He had a towel wrapped around him, so I didn't get a chance to look at his cock, even though I was dying to see it. He had a small waist with a perfectly round ass, and of course there were those perfect, beautiful green eyes staring right into mine. Pools of emerald that were focused right on mine........ "Hey!" Aaron practically yelled. "Stop daydreaming and get out of the shower, I'll be in your bedroom." Aaron said as he stomped off out of the bathroom. Oh yeah, I forgot that he was pissed off at me. Quickly I toweled myself dry and put on a clean pair of boxers and a T-shirt and padded across the hall to my bedroom. Aaron was dressed and sat on my bed looking out the window. He had turned on the radio and I think it was Elvis Costello's "Everyday I Write the book" playing. I turned down the radio a bit. "Don't turn it down, I like that song" Aaron said in his whiney voice. He still wasn't looking at me. "No you don't, you don't even know who Elvis Costello is?" I said to him sarcastically Aaron got up from the bed and walked to the other window in the room and leaned forward resting his hands on the window ledge. "Yes I do." He mumbled. I walked across the room and came up behind him, slowly wrapping my arms around his waist. Aaron didn't move, he just continued to peer out the window, but he didn't push me away either. I rested my head on his shoulder and looked out the window with him for a few moments. "Babe, I am so sorry if I hurt your feelings." I said Aaron didn't respond, he just kept looking out the window "Did you know that your glasses looked just like Elvis Costello's?" I whispered in his ear. "I used to think you looked so handsome in them." "Liar" He said. He was trying not to smile, but it wasn't working out very well. Aaron can't ever take a compliment without blushing and getting all "aw shucks" like. "It's true" I continued. "I used to see you coming down the hall at school and I remember thinking to myself, Elvis Costello reincarnate." Aaron started laughing a little bit. "I swear it." "I even used to hear this song in my head when you walked by." "What a crock of shit!" Aaron said laughing. I started laughing too. Slowly we stopped laughing, and Aaron took his hands off the window ledge and laced them into my own. He leaned back against me and I nuzzled into his neck. After a few moments Aaron turned around and grabbed my hand and led me to the bed. He sat down at the edge and motioned for me to do the same. "Why don't you believe me when I say that I won't ever hurt you?" He asked. "Oh honey" I sighed "I do believe that you don't ever intend to hurt me" "But?" "But we are only sixteen Aaron, can you honestly say that you know what the future holds for us?" "This is the first time either one of us has ever dealt with something like this, and I for one am still getting used to the idea of it." "I can barely think past what is going to happen next week, much less forever." "So what are you saying then? You think that we aren't going to last?" Aaron asked "I'm saying I don't know the future." "I want it to last, I love you and you know it, but I have no idea right now, it's still so new" "What I am saying is that you can't tell me never because never is a promise Aaron." "I can deal with lots of things, but I take promises seriously and I don't know that I will be able to handle another broken promise." "My dad promised that he would never leave me, and look what happened with that." "I'm not your dad, Tucker." Aaron said "When are you going to realize that not everyone is like your dad?" "Maybe if you talk about what happened...." "I don't want to talk about it" I said. My dad had left my mom and me some years back. He was my hero, and when he left us my entire world was shattered. I put on a brave front and pretended that it didn't affect me, but it had eroded my entire sense of trust. Aaron and some of my other friends had tried numerous times to get me to open up and discuss it, but I just couldn't find a way to do that. "There's a shocker." Aaron said irritatingly. "You don't know how difficult it is for me!" I yelled at him "You're right Tuck, I don't." "Ask yourself why, because it sure isn't because I don't want to know." Aaron said. I started to feel tears coming on and I tried to fight them back. Aaron was relentless and continued on. "You know what your problem is?" He said I looked up at his face. "You love like a coward, keeping everyone just far enough away so that they can never really get too close to you, never become too important because that way you don't get hurt, but the sad thing is that by keeping everyone at arms distance you deny yourself to really feel just how loved you are and how important you are to everyone in your life." I started bawling. Aaron came closer to me and wrapped me in his arms. I turned my head into his chest and continued to cry. "I'm sorry" I choked out. "Please don't leave me" "I'm sorry too" Aaron said and I could tell he was crying also. "I'm not going to leave you Tuck, don't ever think that ok. I just get frustrated sometimes." "Sometimes I just don't know whether you love me or not, because you are so guarded all of the time and I just want you to let me in, you have to allow yourself to be loved." "I just need some time, some more time to get used to the idea of us being a couple, and I'll try to let down my defenses." I said "That's what I want Tuck, for you to put down your walls." "I'll try to, I love you, please believe me." I said "Lets talk about this later; I think we have had enough for today alright." "Ok" I said, still worried that he might be upset with me. I wiped the tears away from my eyes and Aaron took my hands in his and looked at me. He didn't even have to say anything. I could see it in his eyes. He loved me. He leaned in and kissed me softly on the mouth. I closed my eyes and took in everything about that moment. The feeling of his lips against mine, soft and sweet, the smell of his clothes, the music in the background. It was a moment of bliss, our moment of bliss. I kept my eyes closed and let the moment linger long after his lips had departed my own. "I could never tell you how much I love you, or how much you mean to me." Aaron said "What did I ever do without you?" I said dreamily to him. "Your guess is as good as mine." He said and we laughed. "Let's not sit around here all day babe, why don't you finish getting dressed and we'll enjoy the day. It is our last day before school you know." Aaron said and started putting his shoes on. Oh yeah, School. Fuck. Life was going to be very interesting. All comments are welcome at wideeyedone@hotmail.com
