Date: Wed, 19 Feb 2003 08:45:31 -0500 From: Stan Unknown Subject: Chapter 8 of Obsession "Hello?" "Mr. Anderson?" Justyn asked. "Yes?" "This is Detective Jones of the Atlanta Police Department," Justyn answered. "Ok. What can I do for you, Detective?" "This may sound really strange, but a package containing car tags from a 1969 Camaro registered in your name was thrown through a window of a house here in Atlanta. I was wondering if you had any idea how that could have happened," Justyn answered. "Sure I do. The mother fucker that murdered my son stole them off my boy Billy's car right before he killed him. Our idiot police know all about that. Why don't you contact them?" "I'm sorry. What did you say?" Justyn asked. "I've been over and over this with our police. No one believes me. Why should you be any different?" "Try me, Mr. Anderson," Justyn answered. "Someone snuck up here in the middle of the night and cut a brake fluid cable on my boy's car. We live at the top of a mountain. Whoever did it knew that Billy would be driving hard down the mountain to school. He always did. He got that from me. Yes sir, he was murdered. There ain't no way in Hell that he ran off that road that he had been driving since he was 13 at the speed they said he was going. He never would have done that." "I'm sorry, sir. When did your son die?" Justyn asked. "He was murdered about two months ago. I knew you would be like everyone else. Goodbye." "Mr. Anderson, please give me a chance. I believe you. I think we have a really sick man out here that I'm hunting," Justyn pleaded. Justyn didn't hear a dial tone, so he knew Mr. Anderson was still on the line. "What's this about, anyway?" "I have a potential stalker after a sixteen year old boy here," Justyn answered. "Same age as my Billy. Go on." "He threw a threatening letter wrapped around a brick through his brother's window last night. It had your son's car tags in it. He had been spotted driving with the same tags on his car," Justyn answered. "Is he after that other boy? Sexually, I mean?" "This is classified, Mr. Anderson, but I think so," Justyn admitted. He didn't want to give out any details of his case, but sometimes you had to trade information to get information. "God! I was afraid of that. FUCK ME!!!! Billy, what had you gotten yourself into?" Mr. Anderson cried. He didn't get off the phone, but Justyn could clearly hear him sobbing. "Mr. Anderson? Look, I'm sorry if I upset you," Justyn said. "Just give me a minute, will you? God Damn pushy cops," Mr. Anderson exclaimed. He was silent for a little bit, but finally said, "So, what do you want from me?" "Can I be honest with you, Mr. Anderson?" Justyn asked. "A cop be honest with me? That'd be a switch. Sure, go ahead." "The package was thrown through the window I told you about around 3:45 this morning. A friend's car was also trashed that same night at a movie theater. It was disabled on purpose, I think. That's all I have to go on, other than your son's car tags. I need your help," Justyn answered. "Isn't that special? After all I did to try and convince our police that my son was murdered, I have an out of state cop calling, begging for my help. Why should I help you, Detective?" "Because if you help me, you might help bring your son's murderer to justice," Justyn answered. There was silence on the line for a long time. "If I help you and you catch him, can I be at the trial?" "Yes sir. I can promise you that," Justyn answered. Another long silence. "If he is ever convicted and sentenced to die, will you promise me that I can be there?" "Yes sir, I'm sure that can be arranged," Justyn said. Silence. "You have a deal, Detective, and I never go back on my word. But if you want me to help you, you come to me. I've been laughed at for the last time by our police force here. If you know my phone number, you also know where I live. Call before you try to find me and I can give you directions," Mr. Anderson said, then hung up. Justyn stood, listening to the dial tone on the receiver. He had to convince his boss to let him go to Charlotte, even if he had to drive there to do it. ***************** Mike finally woke up the next day. It was lots later than he had anticipated. He had no idea when Detective Jones would be over, but it was 11 o'clock already. He decided to go and wake the boys and then take a shower. It was too late for breakfast, so they would just have to eat a big lunch. They could get take out somewhere and make sure someone was home in case Detective Jones came over. Mike didn't think about knocking. He knew the boys would be asleep. He opened the door, but wasn't expecting what he saw. The boys didn't have any cover over them at all. Their naked bodies were wrapped tightly around each other. Mike didn't have to be bi to know what had happened. But his eyes got wide in surprise. He backed up, closing the door. Then he knocked heavily on it. "Guys, time to get up. We have to be ready when Detective Jones gets here." Both boys shot up in the bed in surprise. They each gasped as they lost a little body hair that had stuck together. They were both terrified that Mike had seen them together. Rob even reached down and pulled the sheet up, covering them both. "He didn't come in," Brian said. "God, I hope not," Rob replied. "Are you sorry we did it?" Brian asked. Rob looked at Brian and then smiled. "I don't think so. Are you?" Brian grinned back. "I've been dreaming about that for a long time. You know the commercial about the boy looking in the toy store window, looking at a shiny new bike that he knows he can never have?" "Yeah," Rob answered. "Well, you were like that bike to me. I knew you were straight, and I could never have you. Well, this morning was like Christmas to me when I was a little kid. If you don't ever want to do anything like that again, I'll still remember this morning for the rest of my life," Brian said seriously. Rob stared at Brian, seeing him like it was for the first time. A tear actually came down his cheek. "That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me." "I love you, Rob. I always have," Brian said, as he leaned over and kissed Rob lightly on the lips. "You know something? I've always loved you too. I just never knew how to express it. Now I do," Rob answered, as he attacked Brian once more. ****************** "Chief, I really need to go," Justyn said. "Ok. Slow down. Explain to me why you think you may have a serial killer on your hands when all you have is a brick thrown through a window and a trashed old car?" Chief Williams asked. "It fits. I believe Mr. Anderson. All I want to do is go there and talk to him," Justyn answered. "You know what they've done to my budget. I don't have money to spend on hunches," the Chief answered. "I'll drive up in my own car. Mr. Anderson is willing to talk to me. I really feel strongly about this, Chief," Justyn said. Justyn didn't hear anything for a few moments. "Ok. I want to see all of your expense receipts before you turn them in. You'd better be right, Justyn." "Thank you sir. I hope I'm right, too," he said, as he hung up the phone. He didn't waste any time. He could be in Charlotte before dark, if he hurried. ***************** Mike had given up on the boys coming down after he called them. There was no way they would be down so he could go out to a drive through place and get lunch. He knew what he had seen and didn't want to interrupt anything that might be taking place. So he had brewed a pot of coffee for himself, got out eggs, bacon, mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions and had started omelets. Mike was a good cook and enjoyed what he prepared for Brian. He guessed that he had two to prepare from now on, rather than one. The boys finally had gotten up and taken a shower together. They had enjoyed each other one more time there. Soap is a wonderful thing. They each were looking kind of sheepish as they finally walked down the stairs. "Morning, guys. Sleep well? Mike asked. Neither said anything. They both just nodded their heads. "Either of you want coffee?" Mike asked. They both shook their heads no. "Either of you want to explain what I saw when I walked into Brian's room this morning?" Mike asked bluntly. Both boys blushed terribly. "Look, you know I don't care. If anything, I'm really glad you found each other. That's what happened, right? You're boyfriends now?" Mike asked. Brian and Rob hadn't talked about being boyfriends yet. There hadn't been time. They stared at each other for a moment, and then Rob answered, "I want to be." Brian's eyes got really big and he said, "I do too. More than anything." They reached over and quickly kissed in front of Mike. "Excuse me? Rabbit boys? We have kind of a problem here. Can you control your hormones for a few minutes?" Mike asked with a smile on his face. "Sorry," Brian said, as he blushed. Rob did the same. Mike just smiled at them. "I've thought this through before you both came down. After Bill did what he did to Rob's car, I think it would be better if we all stick together until Bill is caught. That means you will be roommates until then. Is that all right with both of you?" Mike asked with a straight face. Both boys looked quickly at each other and then quickly nodded their heads yes. Both had big grins on their faces. "I'm not finished. Wipe those shit eating grins off your faces. I know what you've done, or close enough. But if I do this, you have to promise me you won't make anal love until all of this is over. You can do anything you want, but that's off limits. Is that a deal?" Mike asked. Both boys went as crimson as they could get. They couldn't have blushed any more than they were right now. "We ...... we weren't going to do anything like that," Brian sputtered. "Geez, Mike. We never even thought about anything like that," Rob answered. "Fine. But that's part of the deal. We're going to have to go over and talk to your parents, Rob. We have to explain what's going on and you have to decide to tell them about you and Brian. I'm not going to tell them. That's your decision. But I would rather you told them yourselves," Mike said. Both boys looked at each other, then looked back at Mike. They nodded in agreement. ***************** The music was blaring in the Jeep as it drove up I-75. An old Steppenwolf song was playing and Bill had it cranked all the way up. The name of the song was "Born To Be Wild". 'Very appropriate', Bill thought, as he headed north. He was less than an hour away from Chattanooga, Tennessee, which was right over the Georgia border. His Jeep had served its purpose. It was time to trade it in for a new car. Bill sang along to the old song as he thought about where he could get Brian and his new boyfriend alone. He felt along the side of his leg and got his knife out. This had to go into the bag he had beside him before he drove into the used car lot. He couldn't raise any unnecessary suspicions until he accomplished his mission. Bill almost felt like a Ranger again. And like a good soldier, he always completed his mission as planned. To Be Continued Comments can be sent to stan992001@hotmail.com.
