The boys were loving and gentle to others, to a fault, but when they saw each other hurting, they would automatically try and take the hurt away. Pat was a prime example of this. John was still recovering from his injuries, and was in a wheelchair. To him, it was bad enough to be driven everywhere. What was worse that Pat was there, every minute of school, trying to help him. He knew that Pat meant well, and he loved him for it, but it was driving him CRAZY!! It seemed that before he got injured, Pat hadn't been that bad before. And so, John worried, and this worry tore him apart. His parents noticed it, too, and they called him on it. "Son," said John's Dad, "Can we talk to you in the den?" He went with his parents into the den, and they took a seat. "Johnny, you haven't been looking well, lately. Is there something wrong?", asking his Mother, gently. As she asked him that question, she looked into his eyes, knowing that she would find the truth. John began sobbing, and huge tears began streaming down his cheeks. "Oh, Mom, I need advice real bad, or I might hurt Pat," John whispered. John explained how Pat's good deeds were stifling him at school. "It's bad, Mom. I see him every minute at school, during therapy at the Hospital, here, in bed, and we run around together in our free time. I love him so much, but don't I get any time to myself, anymore? I mean, except for the bathroom and shower, that is?" John's Mother smiled. "Johnny, when you two were babies, we parents knew you were going to be the best of friends. But that changed when you became committed to each other. Now, I will admit that Pat's not giving you a moment's rest at school is a little much, but remember, he DOES love you so, and I'll ask him nicely to let you have a little more space. There is one thing you need to remember, too. Remember how you would be his protector when you were younger? He's re-paying what he feels is an old debt. He'd fight the biggest bully for you because he loves you. If he must help you, let him." John was feeling a little guilty and somewhat selfish now, but he knew that his Mother was right, so he resolved not to get mad, but he was also going to talk with Pat. Pat was going to visit the cemetary where his parents where buried that next Saturday, and John asked if he could come along. Pat laiad the roses at his parents' graves and cried for a moment before begging John, "Please hold me." John held him as he cried, and soon, John was crying, as memories came flooding back of his second set of parents. When they managed to stop crying, and dry their tears, they smiled at one another and laughed. Pat looked deep into John's eyes, saying, "I'm sorry I've been such a bother to you at school. That's why you came here, to tell me to back off, isn't it?" John just stared at Pat, silently. "John, I'm not stupid. There are comments about it being made all over school. If you want me to back off, I will. You're still my brother and my lover, nothing will change that." By now, John had the courage to reply. "Pat, trying to bring it up was killing me because I didn't want to hurt you. I knew you were doing those things for me, and I really appreciated them, but at times, they were a bit much. But, let me show you how much I DO appreciate your kindness." John heaved himself out of his chair, grabbed Pat on his way down, and passionately kissed his lover. "I'm sorry I was such a jerk this last couple of months, Pat." Pat answered John's apology by driving John wild with more of his kisses. Realizing that this was not a day for wild reckless sex, They finishing their making out, and went home,
