Monday. 7:00am CST (8-1/2 weeks since being discharged from the hospital...) Max squinted, looking up at the sun, a hand shading his face; he sighs. "Ah...a good day." A voice from in front of him calls out. "Max, hurry up!" He lowers his head back to eye level, looking at the small group of people standing on the sidewalk in front of him; A slightly shorter boy with black hair and blue eyes, wearing jeans and a black pullover, a black/Latino girl with curly brown hair in a red bandanna, a slightly taller girl with white skin and straight black hair, her blue eyes almond shaped (she's part Korean), and another boy, a good 2-3 inches taller than the rest of them with short cropped black hair and brown eyes. Max raises a hand in the air, calling out happily. "Haaaiiiii!!!! " He goes full speed ahead and into the center of the small group, linking arms with the shorter boy on one side and the white skinned girl on the other. The shorter boy, Brian, looks down at Max and smiles. "Someone's sure happy today!" The pale girl, Rei, smiles at Max, laughing. "Yeah, Bri-chan's right. Why so cheerful?" Max breaks away from them, standing in front of the group. "I'm so happy that we passed the entrance exams this year...and that now we're all attending the same school!" He says giggling, moving over to Brian, hugging him and resting a head on his shoulder. "Oh man..." The black/Latino girl, V, moans. "If I have to see you guys grope each other in public one more time..." She cracks her knuckles. (She's a VERY aggressive person...) The tall boy, Kyle, speaks up. "Cool your jets, V. And yeah, I'm glad we're all here together now too; but if we continue to stand here chatting and..." He glances over to the couple kissing by a nearby tree and clears his throat loudly, breaking them up. "...Fondling, we'll never make it to school before the late bell." All of us simultaneously looked at our watches and cursed. "SHIMATTA!! " Somehow we had to make a 2 mile distance in less than 10 minutes or suffer detention for the 3rd time this week. So begins the daily marathon to Helena High! We take off, running at breakneck speed. Tsk...oh, but Rei had a lot of homework the night before, so her extra weight is slowing her down...she soon falls a bit behind. "WAIT--AAH!!" In her haste to catch up, she trips on a crack in the sidewalk and hits the hard pavement, and much to her displeasure, we keep running. "How can you just leave me here?! Comou yarou!! " She shouts, trying to get up from the pavement, but we ignore her. We reach the front gates just as the 1-minute warning bell sounds as we dash across campus to our homeroom. We burst in the door, taking seats in the back, catching quite a few odd stares. Max sat next to Brian, Brian next to V, and V next to Kyle. No sooner had we had done so did the late bell ring. Our day had only started to begin. That's the first part of chapter one of Colors of Love! So, how is it? Is it good, bad, whatever? Email me at sunkamen@lycos.com, or give me an IM at StarhealerXv!
