I try to speak, but all that comes out is a choked cry. I feel myself slipping; I can't hold on any longer; the pain's too much. The voice says, "Everything's gonna be OK." My eyes roll back into my head and everything goes black. I cannot see, I cannot hear. "Max? MAX!!" Crawling in my skin; these wounds will not heal Fear is how I fall Confusing what is real There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface Consuming/Confusing This lack of self-control I fear is never ending Controlling/I can't seem To find myself again My walls are closing in [Without a sense of confidence and I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take] I've felt this way before So insecure Discomfort, endlessly has pulled itself upon me Distracting/Reacting Against my will I stand beside my own reflection It's haunting how I can't seem To find myself again My walls are closing in [Without a sense of confidence and I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take] I've felt this way before So insecure -Crawling (Hybrid Theory) by Linkin Park Ite. That really hurt. I take in my surroundings; a dense fog around me, and stars above me. Wind is blowing in all directions, making it very hard to see. "What's going on?" My voice echoes infinitely. 'Am I dead? This doesn't feel right...' "Rei!! This isn't funny!" At this point, I'm thinking this is some kind of joke, as I turn quickly several times, trying to catch a glimpse of her. She's not there. I laugh weakly, "Rei! If you come out now, I promise I won't hurt you...much..." I turn on the heel of my foot quickly when I hear a noise, and spot a shrouded figure in the dense mist. I run to the figure, really getting agitated. "Rei! You know, I am getting REALLY tired of your..." The figure emerges as the mist fades, only it's Tyler and not Rei. In a soft voice, "...jokes." Long pause. "Tyler, what are you doing her..." Once again, I'm interrupted; Tyler had put a finger to my lips. I raise an eyebrow slightly. "Don't speak. Just enjoy the moment." I am getting very angry now. "WHAT mome..." " Shh." "What is going on with you?!" He's inches away from my face now; his hot breath is tickling my neck. I'm staring up at him, and him back at me. "I thought this is what you wanted, Max." 'How did he know?!' "Tyler, it is but..." There's that finger again. "Then that's all that matters." He leans down to kiss me, and I feel myself not resisting... Our lips were just about to touch, and- The feeling of cold water awakens me on my forehead. I jump up, a wet cloth falling off my forehead. I feel pain shoot throughout my entire body. "SON OF A BITCH!!!" Then a hand touches my chest, gently pushing me back down. "Shh, you're pretty hurt. Just lie back and relax." I nod, my breathing labored, and I lie back down, wincing at the pain. As soon as my eyes focus, I look up and I see Tyler's handsome face. "Tyler?" I managed after a moment. "What happened?" "You don't remember? You were jumped in the parking lot of the baseball field..." I regained my senses very well after that. "Those BASTARDS!! I'm going to maim them, one by one!!" Then I remembered. "My sp- my book, where is it?!" "It's right here." He's holding the blue tome, with obviously fake silver and black stones set into it, with 'Shoujo' written on the center of the cover in gold leaf. He slides it over to where I'm lying. "Thanks. How long I been out?" "About 4 hours." I calculated the current time given the information that it was just after midnight. "4 hours?! I gotta go!!" I stood up despite the pain, and made my way to the door. Tyler came in between it and me, though, and tried to stop me. I try to use my arm to move him out of the way, but he grabs it, leaning in really close to me. I have to fight myself hard to keep from kissing him. Me being the person I am, I kept my tough facade going. Through gritted teeth, "Let me go." "Max, I'm not letting you go anywhere." "LET ME GO." "No, Max! You're hurt! Look at you, you can barely walk, not to mention the fact that you were nearly killed by those guys! It's LATE. Just lie down, and get some sleep. I know for you it's bad, but I'm pretty sure a few hours at a 'prep's' house won't kill you." I look into his eyes and see nothing but endless concern and I just melt...AGAIN. 'He's worried about me?' We stood there for what seemed like ages, staring into each other's eyes. I seemed to find my voice again, and playing the contemptuous one... "Fine, but don't think we're like, friends or something." "Fine by me. I'll be right back." He left to get some pillows and blankets. I sit on the floor, and I grow tired, so I yawn and stretch, curling up on the floor. I think about the day's events and a smile (which is rare, I hardly ever smile) comes to my face. 'Maybe this day wasn't so bad after all. I guess I should thank Tyler or something. Hmm...' And with that, I fall asleep. Comments to sunkamen@netscape.net, or IM at Hyabuso Yuriyko.
