Date: Mon, 8 Mar 2004 18:18:09 -0800 (PST) From: Rhys Cary Subject: Running through Blind Part 3 As I started doing in chapter 2, I have to do this whole tribute to a Nifty writer who I thought was amazing. Well, today's is going to be Shattered Glass and Street Lamp Shine, the writer of the story which is in the college, university section. Beautiful. Dear God. That is a talented writer. You know thinking back on my actions, telling people about all these great writers which may lead them to read it, then compare mine to theirs and drop mine like a (insert something thats repulsive you would tend to drop) may not be such a smart idea. Schmeh. Anyway, back to that story. Its so well written, so poetic, so beautiful, so uncomfortably perfect, that it makes me feel so self conscious mentioning it. So, if your looking for a good way to spend your time reading and excellent story, well then go there to read it. God its good. Sorry still can't get over its goodness. OOO and if your reading this story, Shattered Glass and street lamp shine author, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE continue it. I literally cannot get enough of it. Well now I'm guessing that ll my readers are currently sitting at their computers kinda scratching their heads and thinking nervously, how odd this writer is. ... heh heh... sorry. I get rally wrapped up into things and tend to rant, much as I may just about do. Doesn't it just suck when you know your going to rant and you don't want to but you do anyways! Yeah probably only happens to me. I guess its just my way of saying I love me. Alright yes, back on topic. To the story!. TALLY HO! Running Through Blind Part 3 Rhys sat quietly in Kyle's car. The scent of leather filled his nose. The car was a pretty spiffy. But then again they were at a stupid elitist boys school. Go nice cars being the norm! The radio played softly in the background as he drove. Rhys watched discreetly his new friend. Every so often, Kyle would push back his silken goldish-brown hair back behind his ear. The light played against his ivory cheeks, dancing against his skin. Beautiful... "Hey, Space cadet, you awake?" startled, Rhys gave a little jolt. "Huh, What, Who, sorry just a little tired. Actually realy tired." "Didn't sleep well?" asked Kyle "I wish, try didn't sleep at all, well maybe a little, but very little." "O really, and whats a little, 8, 9 hours?" "I don't know how lucky you are, but try like 2, 3 hours max" "Heh, harsh. And why exactly are you sleeping so late?" "Work I guess." "Ah, i got me an overachiever." "Yup thats me!" "Well were here. Welcome to my humble abode." "I wouldn't exactly use the word humble in this context Kyle..." The house could only be described as a modern day castle. Well not that big, but overwhelming at least. It had white washed walls with large bay windows. Oak trim on the windows, and a luscious green carpet of grass for a front lawn. The rest of the world was cut off from the house because of its well groomed hedge of massive bushes on steriods. "This way Rhys." Kyle opened the large oak doors. The interior was furnished impeccably. Lavicious and obviously expensive, yet still very warm and comfortable looking. Kyle led Rhys to a kitchen filled with stainless steel appliances. But yet still it was comfortable looking and inviting. "Hungry?" Kyle asked. "Well aren't we the proper host. Mother must have taught you well." "Very. So again hungry?" "Not really. But have you got anything to drink." "Yeah sure. Anything in particular?" "Just water." "Help yourself, glasses are over there and you can just fill it up at the tap over there." "Thanks." Kyle busied himself pulling out assorted packages from the fridge as Rhys stood against a counter watching him. When he was finished, Kyle pulled out two plates and placed two sandwiches on them. "I said I wasn't hungry. Its ok., I don't mean to impose." "Shut up and eat, I know your hungry, I saw you eyeing the food while I was making it." "Well I wouldn't go as far as to say I was eyeing it as much I was just appreciating your work and ..." "Just shut up and eat." "If you insist, shit this is really good." "Why thank you. I take pride in my roast beef sandwiches. Its all in the copious globs of mayo that I put in." "that could explain it." The two boys continued to chat and eat and after finishing, they cleaned up and Kyle led Rhys through the house giving him a tour, concluding with his room. "Nice room." Rhys commented upon entering the room. The room, like the rest of the house, was yet again also very laid back and comfortable looking. Kyle's bed was a large queen sized bed which looked obscenely cushy and cozy. However the greatest highlight of the room were the large westward facing windows. The light stream through bathing the room in gold. Kyle took a seat against one of the walls, watching Rhys walk through the room and look out the windows. The sun shone brightly against him. His dark hair blew light wind from the open windows. The light gave his face an angelic glow. Kyle gasped softly. "Its beautiful isn't it?" His window opened over a cliff. From it you could see the mountains to one side, the forest and city, and to the other side, the ocean. "Gorgeous. Takes my breath away. How can you study Kyle?" "It is indeed. Sometimes I just sit here. Looking out. Out towards the world, the future... When I'm lonely or sad I just look out and think." "Wow thats deep..." "Shut up! Thats it. Outta my house." "Touchy." "I was opening up to you and you make fun of me. GET OUT!" "Whoa. Sorry Kyle, I didn't mean to I was just joking, I sorry," Rhys quickly picked up his bag and started to walk out as he heard Kyle collapse laughing behind him. "What type of spaz do you take me for Rhys?" "Well judging by your face, a big one." "Ouch low blow." "Just kidding, your face is nice..." "You ain't so bad yourself..." "Well enough of that Boy meets world moment..." Rhys said with a sly grin both boys looked away. "wanna watch a movie or something?" "Sure, what you got?" "Why don't we go down and see." "Uhh Kyle, you have a perfectly good TV. Right here? Kyle? Wait. I might get lost. KYLE!!!" Rhys ran down after Kyle had bolted out of the room. He followed him down to the basement and into a room. "Your not some weird psycho stalker who likes to kill people and bury them in the basement are you? Kyle?" The basement was dimly lit and Rhys quietly walked down the hall looking for Kyle. "Kyle this isn't funny. Where are you?" No answer "Kyle, as much as I enjoy cliched scary movie situations, this isn't the time or place. Kyle!" He felt something behind him. He quickly turned around. "When I find you I'm going to kill you. You know that right?" Suddenly someone grabbed him from behind. Spinning around quickly, Rhys spun his leg up and connected with his assailant's face. All that came out was a groan. Looking for a light switch or any way to turn up the lights, Rhys finally found it and discovered Kyle smothered on the floor. Sitting on his bum, and nursing and soon to develop bruise on the side of his face. "O shit Kyle. I'm so sorry." "S'ok I kinda deserved that..." "Yeah you kinda did. Here we better get back up to the kitchen to put some ice on it before it starts to swell." The boys walked up the stairs, Kyle, partly supported by Rhys tried to lead the way. "I'm really sorry Kyle. Well kinda of sorry. But you really did scare me. You can't blame me for natural reaction." "Well how was I supposed to know you could kick that hard. And be that fast. And how did you learn to kick like that." "Dunno, a few years of karate and jui jitsu here and there, nothing serious, just enough to defend myself." "Point well taken..." "Here get up on this stool." "Yes mother." "That's another story entirely, how are you going to explain this to her. My new friend came over and he kicked me in the face for fun??? Points for me?" "I could just say I got klutzy and walked into a wall. A blunt moving very hard wall. And I was running." "Suit yourself Kyle..." Rhys got out a dish towel and put some ice to it. He gingerly placed it against Kyle's face, careful not to push to hard, but attempting to slow down the quickly swelling bruise. Kyle winced at first contact with the cold towel. "Its cold." "Its supposed to be doofus" "Well there's a term I haven't heard since grade 4" "Schmeh, so I try to use all my words. Sue me." "Maybe not for that. But kicking me is another story entirely." "Shut up! It was an accident. I said sorry." Rhys exclaimed slightly flustered "I'm just yankin your chain." "Lets hope that's all your yankin." "Eww dude, that's just wrong." "Just kidding man," Rhys said giving him a little punch to the shoulder. "Owww, is our relationship gonna be totally abusive like this? Because if yes, I want out." "O please you can;t get enough of me. Here let me look at the bruise." Rhys leaned in to look at the swelling. Kyle swallowed nervously. Rhys' scent filled his senses, and he could feel his breath against his ear as Rhys looked at his handiwork. Rhys also felt a bit nervous doing this. He had never been quite so close to Kyle. He could feel the heat the Kyle emitted. His breath playing against his neck as he leaned in over him. Rhys pulled back, and they held each others gaze. Rhys' silvery grey eyes gleamed gently into Kyle's bluish green eyes. They stood transfixed for a second. Each indulging bit to far in the moment. Rhys pulled back sheepishly. Kyle blushed slightly. "Its getting late, I better get home, do some work." "Yeah same, uh you need a ride home?" asked Kyle. "Nah its ok. Didn't I mention that I lived a few houses down?" Kyle looked back at Rhys with a funny huh looking stare. "I'll take your glazed look as a no, must have slipped my mind. Well gotta go. Beating the shit outta you was a blast." "Haha, just you wait Rhys. Your time will come soon." "Yeah whatever." Rhys retorted as he stepped out of the house. "See ya tommorow" "Bye" Closing the door, Kyle slunk back against it. Sighing slightly he made his way up to his room and noticed that Rhys had left his bag in his room. He dashed quickly downstairs and opened the door, about to dash off after Rhys. As he opened the door, he careened straight into Rhys who stood there about to ring the doorbell. "So we meet again Mr. Bond" "Its Mr. Cary, and there was no need to maul me like that" "Heh, payback?" They laughed and again, then realizing the proximity and position that they were in, the quickly righted themselves and dusted themselves off. "Enjoy the ride?" Rhys said "You bet. But next time maybe some peanuts and a stiff drink would be nice." "I'll take that comment literally." "Didn't mean it any other way. Sure. Alright. Now this time I really have to go." "Then go. Bye!" Trudging up to his room, Kyle just lay there in peace. Confused and really tired, he drifted off into sleep... End of Part 3 ooooooooOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo sparks are flying. Sorry for the whole cliched bit. It was very Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks romance movie of me. True? True. Alright well this is the third installment, and if there's one thing that I've learnt from this chapter, its that doing drugs is not cool, so drink heavily instead. Part 4 and 5 is on its way. Send requests! That's all for me today. So in the immortal words of porky the pig: That's All Folks *snort* *convulse* * and be generally annoying*
