Sam waved for Jay to come over, and hollered, "Come here, Jay, and meet my dad. I called him earlier and asked him to come and get us after school with the car. It's a lot quicker and it'll give us more time at the house. Besides, it's too beastly cold and windy to walk!" The man just grinned at Jay and said, "As you can see, she's got me wrapped around her little finger." Jay nodded in understanding, knowing exactly what he meant. He was rapidly beginning to feel the same way! "Dad, this is Jay," Sam said. "I've already told you about him and here he is!" "How do you do, Mr. McMillan," Jay said, holding out his hand to the man. He was a lot older than Jay had expected, but still a very handsome man. He was tall and trim and athletic looking, with a thick shock of mostly gray hair, the same twinkling, hazel-colored eyes as Sam, and a tanned, open and friendly face and a big smile. "I'm pleased to meet you, Jay," he replied, and added, "The name's Mack, by the way. Everyone calls me Mack. Except Sam, of course! I'm Dad to her. Or Gramps, sometimes, when she's in a reckless mood and feels like living dangerously!" Having said that, he winked at Sam and then turned his attention back to Jay. Jay enjoyed the firm and hearty feel of his handshake and he could hardly believe that anyone's dad could be so nice and warm and fun to be with. He wished his own dad were even half as nice. "I'm surprised you're already home from work," Jay ventured to say as they drove down the street. He was seated in the front beside Mack and Sam was in the back. Mack just laughed and said, "I've been home from work for over a year now! You see, I'm retired. So now I'm working full time for my two women, Sam and her mom"! Jay laughed at his little joke and also at Sam's sputtering behind him, and then asked, "What kind of work did you do?" "I'm a CPA," Mack replied, "and I worked as an auditor for the last fifteen years. We moved here just before Sam started third grade, so I had six years with First National here before I retired. Prior to that, we lived just out of Chicago. Maybe Sam has told you?" "No, not yet. I guess Sam and I still have lots to learn about each other," Jay said. "We're just now starting to get acquainted." "Really?" Mack exclaimed. "I'd've thought you'd been close friends ever since school started, the way Sam's been talking about you lately. You've really made a hit with her, Jay, let me tell you! And I understand Lee likes you a lot too." Jay got nervous when Mack said that, wondering just how much he knew or guessed about his and Lee's relationship. But in any case, it was still so brand new that he didn't think he could know much... unless, of course, Sam had been tattling. But he couldn't believe she would do that. After all, Lee wasn't out to anyone but Sam either. Mack went on to say, "Lee's practically like one of our boys too, you see. He's at our house nearly as much as his own. And if he's not at ours, then chances are good Sam's over at his. Those two have been like Siamese twins ever since we moved here! It's a good thing they both like you, Jay. Otherwise there would be problems!" Mack paused for breath and then added, "But of course they like you. I do too, and I've only just met you. I can tell you're just alright!" Of course Jay blushed! Mack glanced at him, and noticing his discomfiture, he laid his hand on Jay's leg and gave it a gentle squeeze. The tender feeling that gesture conveyed filled Jay's heart with happiness and his eyes with tears, and he fell in love with Sam's dad at that instant, sensing that he had just found the dad his own father had never been to him, and that he had yearned for and craved all his life. He fought valiantly to hold back the flood of tears that was ready to burst forth, and was mostly successful, except for a few that broke free and ran down his cheeks. He sniffled then and wiped his eyes, staring straight ahead, feeling mortified, and worrying that Mack would think he was just a big cry baby. How could he ever explain his tears? That would require revealing far more than he was prepared to divulge about his own family and his unfortunate home life. He would have been surprised, though, at how much Mack already intuitively understood, and at the compassion he felt for this shy and uniquely special lad he had just met a few minutes earlier, and who had come to mean so much to his daughter. Jay didn't realize, of course, that when Sam had called her parents after lunch and asked her dad to come and get them with the car, that she had also repeated their conversation about Jay not having a winter coat, and why, and had suggested that her mom search through those boxes of old clothes and see if she could find anything Jay could use. When Sam and Jay met by Sam's locker after school, Sam had asked him why he didn't have a bag or a backpack for his school books, and Jay had just shrugged his shoulders, not saying anything. "Don't you get an allowance?" she had asked then, and he shook his head, saying that he never had any money to spend. If he ever needed anything, he had to ask his parents to buy it for him. That didn't mean he always got it, though; far from it. But he didn't tell Sam that. Neither had he told Sam that his father said his kids weren't responsible enough to handle money themselves and they would have to wait until they were old enough to have a job and could earn their own. Even that wasn't exactly reliable, however, because Jay had made a little money mowing lawns and doing various odd jobs of that sort during the summer the last few years and his dad had always demanded he turn his money over to him to look after. And Jay never saw it again. Mack soon pulled into the driveway beside the McMillan house and as they were walking to the door, Jay looked over at Lee's house on the other side of a low hedge. He had been there with Lee just the day before, of course, and seeing the house again brought the memory of what they had done there flooding back into his mind in vivid and thrilling detail. Thoughts of Lee filled his mind as he followed Sam and Mack into their house, but when he met Sam's mom standing in the kitchen, they were pushed into the background again. She was a very attractive woman who managed somehow to look quite classy in spite of the casual way she was dressed. She appeared to be at least fifteen years younger than her husband. Her long blonde hair was done in a single braid hanging down the middle of her back, and she was wearing worn, faded jeans and a bright plaid flannel shirt with the tails hanging out. Sam darted off to her room without a word as soon as she got in the house, leaving Jay with her parents in the kitchen. Normally Jay would have felt very uncomfortable being left on his own in the company of strange adults like that, but they both had the gift of making him feel at ease. He was already feeling comfortable with Mack, of course, and his wife was equally as relaxed and unpretentious. "Jay, this is my wife Sharon," Mack said. "It's nice to meet you, Mrs. McMillan," Jay replied, and started to hold out his hand, but instead of shaking his hand, she threw her arms around him in a quick hug, saying, "You heard what Mack said, Jay. My name's Sharon. None of this `Mrs. McMillan' business! Judging from what Sam has indicated about you, I have a feeling we're gonna be seeing quite a lot of you. So since we're friends, we won't stand on formalities, will we? We want you to feel at home here. Any friend of Sam and Lee's is always welcome here. You'll find our door is always open." Having said that, she gave him another little squeeze for emphasis and released him. It was rather an awkward hug because Jay still had his school books tucked under one arm, but Sharon hadn't seemed to mind. "Here, put your books down on the table, Jay, and let me take your jacket," Sharon said. Jay did as he was told, and when Sharon took his jacket she hefted it in her hand as if to test its weight, and whistled. "Boy, this won't do much to keep out the cold. And brrrrrr... is it ever cold! This weather's a bitch, isn't it?" Jay was startled at her language. He would never have used such a word as `bitch', but Sharon seemed to think nothing of it and it didn't provoke any reaction from Mack either. Jay was secretly thrilled that they were both so cool. His amazement at Sam's parents just kept growing. "Yeah, I never dreamed winter would come so early, or that the weather could change so fast. I've never lived where there was much winter before," Jay commented. "Oh, really?" Sharon replied. "Where did you move here from?" "We moved here from Alabama just before school started. We've lived in many places, though." "Well, I'll be..." Sharon exclaimed. "I'd never have guessed from your accent that you're from the Deep South." "Oh... Well, I lived the first ten years of my life in southern California and Arizona, so I guess I didn't pick up the southern drawl so much. I've never been much of a mimic, I'm afraid." "Please have a chair, Jay. Mack, you too," Sharon said. "I've made some hot chocolate and I've just baked cookies today too..." Then she yelled, "Sam!" at the top of her voice as she set out four mugs on the table and a plate of peanut butter cookies. Just as they were sitting down to the table, Sam came into the kitchen carrying a small backpack. "Here, Jay," she said, holding it out to him. "I wanna give this to you for your school books. I never use it any more since I got my shoulder bag for Christmas last year." Jay began to protest, but Sam cut him off, saying, "Come on, sport, I want ya to have it. It's just been lying on a shelf in my closet gatherin' dust." "Yes, take it, Jay," Sharon insisted. "It's nothing special, but at least it'll be better than carrying your books under your arm all the time." Jay began to thank them then, and Sam just pinched his lips together to silence him, saying, "No thanks are needed, sweetie. It's not like it's costin' me anything to give it to ya, you know!" Jay blushed, embarrassed by Sam calling him `sweetie' in front of her parents, but he said no more. He was touched by their generosity, and he was certainly pleased to have the backpack for his books. He laid it down beside his books at the end of the table and Sharon started pouring steaming hot chocolate into their mugs. Soon they were all sipping at the delicious, scalding liquid and munching on cookies, which disappeared from the plate at an astounding rate. Their conversation was free and lively, punctuated by much laughter as the three McMillans bantered and teased each other. Of course Jay didn't escape their teasing either, but he loved it. The atmosphere in the room was charged with the obvious love they all felt for one another, causing Jay's emotions to swell up to the brim once more. He tried his best to keep back the tears from spilling over, but once again he was not entirely successful. Sharon noticed this, and without a word, she got up from the table and stepped over behind Jay's chair. She ruffled his hair with her hand and then bent over, giving him a gentle hug from behind while she wiped the tears from his cheeks and gave him a little kiss on the forehead. She then stepped out of the room, but returned almost at once with a dark blue parka over her arm. "Christmas must've come early this year," she said, as she beckoned for Jay to stand up. He did so, and she gave him the parka, telling him to try it on. It proved to be a bit big for him, but not so much that it would be a problem, and Sharon clapped her hands, exclaiming, "Good! It's yours!" Jay was totally overwhelmed then, and he just threw his arms around her, buried his face against her shoulder and bawled. As quick as a flash, Sam and Mack were there beside them, and they all stood together in the middle of the kitchen in a big group hug. When Jay finally regained a little control over himself, Mack handed him a couple paper napkins to wipe his eyes and blow his nose, and Sharon said to Mack, "Remember when we bought this coat for Ryan that fall just before his big growth spurt started? As I recall, he grew four inches and gained fifteen pounds during that one winter, so he didn't get much use out of it. See, it's still nearly like new." "Yes, I definitely remember his growth spurt, as you call it," Mack laughed. "We couldn't ever get his stomach full that winter, could we? And yes, I remember buying this coat also. I couldn't possibly think of anyone I'd rather see wearing it than you, Jay. Please take it." Jay thanked them again, and then gave both Sharon and Mack another hug. He thought Mack would squeeze the breath out of him when he hugged him back, and then he startled him by planting a big fatherly kiss on his cheek as well. Jay was beginning to feel like he had almost been adopted into the McMillan family, and the thought of going home again to his own parents gave him a twinge of sadness which made him feel ashamed. He had never really had any basis for comparison before, but now he did, and he was starting to realize just how woefully deficient his own family and home life were. Sam had been uncharacteristically silent for a few minutes, but then she said, "Jay, if you're gonna have time to see Lee before you hafta go home, we better get over there." Jay looked at his wrist watch (which had been a Christmas gift from his uncle Robert the previous Christmas), and gasped when he saw how much time had gone by. He wouldn't have wanted to miss one second of the time with the McMillans, but neither could he bear the thought of not getting to see Lee. He quickly gathered up his school books, putting them into the backpack Sam had given him, and Sam handed him his old jacket to stuff into the backpack as well, since he was now wearing her brother's outgrown parka. Jay then turned to thank Sharon and Mack one more time for everything. He felt like words failed him. There was no way he could adequately express how much their kindness, and yes, their love, had meant to him. Please don't mention it, Jay," Mack said, giving him a pat on the back. "We haven't given you anything you don't deserve. And besides, you're family now, and don't you forget it! I hope we'll see you back here again soon. And often. By the way, what time do you have to be home?" "I must be home before six for sure. Let's say a quarter to six for good measure. Why?" "I was just gonna say I'll drive you home so you don't have to rush your visit at Lee's," Mack said. "How far away do you live?" "I live on Jefferson Street, near that big new shopping center. What do they call it...? Willow Glen Mall. You know it?" "Yeah, I know where it is. We can drive there in no time. You be ready to go at five thirty and I'll have the car started, OK? "Sure, thanks, Mack! You're the greatest," Jay said, and then Sam grabbed him by the arm to hurry him to the door. He and Sharon exchanged goodbyes and he said, `Till later, Mack!" and they were off at a run to Lee's house next door. Lee was watching out the window with growing impatience, wondering if they would ever come. He saw them running up the front walk and had the door open before they got there. As soon as Jay reached the door, he grabbed him by the arm, pulling him inside the house, and then threw himself at him in a ferocious hug, kissing him all over his face and neck like a person possessed, half moaning, half growling his name, "Jay... Jay... Jay..." Jay could do nothing more than just hang there in his embrace and soak up the love Lee was giving such enthusiastic expression to. "Lee, for goodness sake!" Sam finally exclaimed. "Take it a bit easy on the poor boy. You're gonna smother him!" And then she added, "Uh... by the way, what kinda germs are ya slobberin' all over him with those kisses? Anyway, ya seem to be more alive now than when I saw you this morning, I'm glad to see." "Hi to you too, Sam," Lee said. "What's the matter? Are ya just jealous `cause Jay's getting all the attention? Well come here and I'll give you a hug too." Lee let go of Jay then, and gave Sam a quick hug. Then he unzipped Jay's parka and pulled it off of him and turned to take Sam's coat too, but Sam shook her head, saying, "No, I can see three's a crowd right now, so I'll run back home and start on my homework. You two lovebirds need time alone for awhile." Both Lee and Jay started to protest in unison, but Sam waved her hand in dismissal and turned to go. "I'll see ya tomorrow, sweetie," she said to Jay, "Provided you don't get Lee's bug! Ya better watch out for those kisses!" Then she blew him a kiss of her own, and as she ran out the door she hollered back to Lee that she would come over again after supper and tell him all about the day. Jay blushed when he heard that, wondering how many details she was planning to give him. Lee saw his blush, and said, "Aha! It looks like that might turn out to be an interesting story!" which caused Jay to blush even more furiously. Lee just slapped him on the back and laughed. "Don't worry, lover boy!" he said, "I've known Sam a lot longer than you and nothing will ever surprise me! You can be sure she'll tell me everything too. She always does. And if she leaves anything out, I'll know it, and she knows I'll know it, so she won't dare." Almost as an afterthought, Lee blurted out, "Isn't she wonderful, Jay?" ...his eyes shining. Jay threw his arms around Lee and exclaimed, "Oh, Lee, she's fantastic! And her parents too. I feel nearly overwhelmed by all three of them. Yeah, Sam was wonderful today. I don't know what I'd've done without her, and I love her so much, almost as much as I love you." "Well, then, we're even, sweetheart," Lee replied. "We both love her. Aren't we lucky?" "We sure are," Jay mumbled, as he began nuzzling Lee's neck and throat and face, working his way over to an ear, which he stuck the tip of his tongue into, making him gasp and squirm. He then nibbled on his earlobe while tenderly tracing the tips of his fingers along the contours of his face. They stood like that for several minutes, giving themselves over to the joy of the moment, and luxuriating in the tender expression of their love for one another and in the feel of their bodies pressed tightly together. "How are you feeling anyway, Lee?" Jay asked, as he held him. "I've been worrying about you all day, and missing you. I thought I was gonna cry when Sam told me this morning that you couldn't come to school today. I was so disappointed..." "Nothin' to worry about, sweetheart," Lee said, as he kissed him on the forehead. "I'm much better. My throat was awful sore this morning and I've had a beastly headache most of the day, but now, believe it or not, I feel almost normal again. You're the best medicine, you know? All I needed was a good dose of you. And best of all, there's no danger of overdose!" Having said that, he gave Jay a really big squeeze and then added, "To be safe, I'm just gonna refrain from kissin' you on the lips and stickin' my tongue into your sweet mouth for a day or two, so hopefully you won't get whatever bug I got." Finally, Lee broke away from Jay's arms and took him by the hand, pulling him toward a corridor leading to the back of the house. "Let's go back to my room, Jay," he said. "You haven't seen it yet." Jay glanced quickly at his watch, noticing that he still had forty five minutes before he had to go, and let himself be pulled along by the hand. Lee seemed awfully eager to get him to his room! Once they were through the door, Lee kicked it shut with his foot and in one fluid movement, pushed an unsuspecting Jay backwards onto his bed and then pounced, throwing himself down full length on top of him, causing the mattress to bounce and the bed frame to shudder and the headboard to slam against the wall with a bang. "Now I've got ya where I've wanted ya all day, sweetheart," Lee murmured into his ear, kissing his cheek before nestling his head into the pillow beside Jay's, holding him tight in his arms, his full weight pressing down on Jay's much smaller body. Jay squirmed a little beneath him, and said, "Let my arms free at least, Lee, so I can hold you too." Lee complied, and asked, "I'm not too heavy for ya, am I, sweetheart? Can you breathe?" "Nah... I'm fine. You feel so good on top of me like that. I wish I could lie here forever," Jay assured him, letting his now-freed hands roam lazily up and down the considerable length of Lee's broad back. Growing bolder, Jay pulled the tail of Lee's t-shirt free from his jeans and ran his hands up underneath it to continue his caressing, heightening the pleasure for both of them with the feel of skin on bare skin. Soon, becoming even more daring and playful, Jay ran his hands down to the waistband of Lee's jeans and then drew the tips of his fingers lightly back and forth across the small of his back along his waistband, now and then dipping them down just inside his jeans to where he could feel the elastic band of his jockey briefs. This treatment was sending shivers of pleasure rippling through Lee's body, which Jay also could clearly feel with his fingers. Suddenly, without warning, Jay did a deep dive, plunging both hands down inside Lee's jockeys to cup the bare cheeks of his firm, muscular butt. Enough of that dabbling around, playing in the shallow end! It was time to go for broke, and oh, bliss! Those smooth, tight ass cheeks felt so good in his hands! He kneaded and rubbed them; now firmly, now lightly and caressingly, and now and then running his fingertips up and down in that deep, hot crevice between them. In the meantime, Lee was moaning and drooling into his pillow, reveling in the unexpected erotic massage his amazing little lover was giving him. But as delightful as it was to slip into passive mode from time to time, and as much as he was enjoying what Jay was doing to him, Lee had an urge finally to be the aggressor again, and quick as a wink he rolled onto his back, pulling the much lighter Jay over on top of him, his hands trapped beneath him, still buried inside his jockeys. "There's something I've been dreaming about all day, sweet lover of mine," Lee said, looking at Jay with a wolfish gleam in his eyes. "Yeah?" Jay asked, his face a big question mark. "Yeah!" Lee repeated, much louder and with emphasis. "Get up, Jay, and stand here by my bed," he ordered. Jay obeyed without a word. The questions he wanted to ask were left unspoken, but could be clearly read in his face. Lee just remained lying on the bed, looking him up and down as he stood there looking back at him. "You're so cute, baby," he murmured finally, his eyes glistening. "I can't get enough of looking at you. I don't know why I was so blind for so long and didn't really see you until a couple weeks ago." Jay blushed, but he didn't say anything. He just stood there listening and waiting. "So you know what I've been dreamin' about, babe?" Jay shook his head. "I've been dreamin' about seeing you naked!" Lee blurted out, and then Jay's blush deepened to a very dark red and he gave a little gasp of surprise. "Lee, I c-c-c-c-an't," he stuttered. "Sure you can, honey. You're my lover. You don't hafta hide anything from me. You're like a part of me, so it's only natural for me to see you--all of you. And you're beautiful to me..." "B-b-b-ut I'm so puny, Lee. And pale... Like a ghost. And I'm... my... my... I'm so small! I can't let you see it. I can't!" He looked like he was going to cry, and Lee jumped up from his bed then and stood in front of him, gathering him tenderly into his arms, planting soft, soothing kisses all over his face, rocking him back and forth slowly in his arms, crooning to him. Lee hadn't realized what a negative self image Jay had, and he cursed himself inwardly for not having seen how fragile he was in a sense. He feared he had sounded very crass in the way he asked Jay to undress for him, and he wished he could just press `delete' and erase the last couple minutes so that they never would have happened. He would have to be a lot more patient and understanding with Jay. He would never forgive himself if he hurt him. What if he drove him away? Oh God, that thought made him shudder with horror. He would have to guide him very gently into a fuller acceptance of himself and then, little by little they could venture together into a more physical sharing of themselves, their bodies, with one another. Lee sensed that Jay was quite ready to give pleasure to him, and that he delighted in his body, as evidenced by the free and uninhibited way he had caressed and explored it just then, even venturing down inside his pants to rub his bare ass! But he was obviously (albeit needlessly) ashamed of his own body, and wasn't yet ready to open himself, to bare himself and share himself that way with his lover. Lee just continued holding his precious Jay tight against himself, rocking him in his arms, and rejoicing when he felt him relax and snuggle against him. Suddenly, however, the mood was broken by Lee's mother's voice calling from the far end of the hall. She had just gotten back, apparently, from a shopping trip that had taken her away from home earlier in the afternoon. "Well, lover of mine, it looks like you finally get to meet my mom," Lee said softly in Jay's ear. "We better straighten up our clothes and go to her before she comes looking for us, eh?" And that's what they did.
