Date: Sun, 3 Jun 2007 15:03:49 -0400 From: Seth mace Subject: Senior-itis 2 Chapter 2: Lunch "Dates" Two days! What was that red-faced pig thinking! Seth paced his room not knowing what to do with himself. Apparently being in school could be a lot more entertaining than being stuck at home. Seth knew that though already. You learned these tidbits of information after going through two elementary schools, one normal middle school plus a correctional school, and then add to that he was now in his second high school. Being suspended was a monthly thing, or at least it was as long as a school actually held onto him. "I am going to die if I am stuck in here for two days!" Seth grumbled aloud throwing his hands up in the air. "Well punk you should have thought about that before you got into a fight on your first day. Not a very good impression if I do say so myself." "Oh shut it! Shouldn't you be at school anyhow?" Seth asked, as he turned to face the occupant sprawled out on the second bed in the room. "No I'm playing hooky today cause mom wants me to stay home and watch your arrogant ass." Seth stuck his tongue out as his brother in a playful manner. Though the two fought the twins actually got along. They were fraternal not identical for those wondering. Cameron, or Cam, was the younger by about four minutes and it was hard to believe they were either from the same family. Where Seth's hair was brown Cam had blond, and rather than Seth's brown eyes Cam's were dark green. Even their personalities differed. Seth preferred hanging out with his friends and just getting himself into trouble. Cam was the smart one and the more athletic of the two and it showed. Cam having the larger build and actually being a few inches taller he was normally looked as the older but the pair knew different. "I'm going to get something to eat. I'm starved and didn't eat breakfast." Seth told his brother leaving no room for argument on the idea. "Well bring me back something too." Cam called to Seth's back. "Alright be back in a bit. If Sammy calls tell her I'll talk to her later." Seth grabbed his hoodie and pulled it over his head as he walked out the door. It was mid August and it showed in the gathering of clouds overhead and the humid air. Seth could tell it was going to rain so he picked up pace not wanting to be caught out in the storm. He lived only a few blocks from a main strip, Warf Street, which was home to multiple small businesses, fast food restaurants, and a coffeehouse or two. Seth was making his way towards the McDonalds at the end of the busy street when he noticed one of his partners in crime walking along the other side of the street. Seth wasn't surprised to see Susan waltzing down the street with her head held high. He smirked at the sight and quickly came to the edge of the street. Running across at the first chance Seth caught up with his 'new' friend easily enough. "Hey Susan. I see you're enjoying your suspension about as much as I am." Seth chirped happily. "Where are you headed?" "Oh yes I am having so much fun. I was about to go have lunch wi- I mean just going to get lunch!" She quickly corrected as she noticed exactly whom it was she was talking too. "I was just going to the McDonalds. You want to join me?" She inquired a mysterious sparkle in her brown eyes. Seth didn't like the look in her eyes but could not pass up lunch with her. "Alright you got yourself a date." Seth fell into her stride and they were laughing and chatting together as the entered the McDonalds and got into line. Damien walked down Warf Street actually feeling quite good. Two days out of school wasn't a bad thing and his parents hadn't put up too much of a fuss. Then again his dad was never home and his mom was obviously an alcoholic so as long as he alcohol consumption was not put off in anyway she didn't care what happened, and since he was never home his dad's opinion didn't matter. Damien strolled down the sidewalk with his hands thrust into the pockets of his khaki cargo shorts. He had a lunch date with his friend Susan at the McDonalds. It was nice living near her; then again most of the students that attended lived near each other since it was the neighborhood school. He was glad to be able to get out of his home and take a walk and spend time with his friends. He reached the McDonalds and walked through the door spotting Susan carrying her tray to one of the tables. Damien was quick to follow and lowered himself into the same booth as his friend. "Hey you couldn't wait for me to get here? Since when were you such the pig?" He jested as he smiled at his friend. His light blue eyes sparkled joyfully and his smile was so sweet. It drove Susan crazy sometimes that the cute guy was gay. It was definitely a disappointment. "Oh well...you see there was a slight change of plans. We have a gu-" "Well, well, well, I was not told this was going to be a group lunch." Seth remarked snidely as he slid beside Susan and focused his glaring brown eyes on Damien. "Did you forget to tell me the prick would be here or is this some sort of surprise intervention?" Seth asked in a smooth voice that mocked both Damien and Susan in a rather obvious fashion. "Well you see I hadn't planned it as one but..." She looked at her food feeling quite nervous now that two explosive personalities were sitting right across from one another. Damien rolled his eyes and got up to go get his food. "Forget it. Enjoy your lunch with your friend here. I'm going to get my lunch and head home. My drunk mother is more sociable than this jack ass." Damien jerked his thumb at Seth who just rolled his eyes and took a bit from his sandwich. The smaller guy waved a hand at Damien's retreating form and flashed him one hell of a sarcastic smirk. Damien glowered over his shoulder a moment before moving to the counter and grabbing his meal. He walked home smoldering with anger as that sarcastic smirk filled his mind and constantly taunted him. "That guys no more than some arrogant little brat. His family is probably well of or something." Damien thought aloud as he mounted the steps to his family's small apartment. As expected his mother was passed out on the couch. He just rolled his eyes as he passed through the main room and into his bedroom. "What was that all about Seth? You didn't have to be so rude!" "Well you should have told me he would be here. I barely know him and don't like. I would rather him not be around." "That's my point though. You don't know Damien. You really should get to know him. He's really cool." "Why are you so adamant on this? You've never given a damn about me before. Sammy says you hate me as much as you hate her. Why do you hate your sister so much?" Seth inquired as the pair walked down the sidewalk about an after Damien's early departure. Seth toted a bag with his brother's lunch in it in one hand, and the other thrust through his hoodie's front pocket. "I don't know. Sammy and me started getting along and she talks about you a lot, and I think you and Damien could make a good...pair of friends. You two just have to get over these issues you are having." Susan ordered as they turned onto Seth's street. "Whatever. I am not going to be nice to that ass until he gets off his high horse and starts acting a little nicer to me. He isn't all that or anywhere close and he needs to learn that. Even if I have to be the one to knock it into his thick jock skull." "He's not really a jock. Though he does play some sports he's not as into it as some of those other guys." Susan felt the need to explain. The pair walked into Seth's front door, and were immediately set upon by Cameron. "Damn bro what took your ass so- oh hey Susan." Cameron waved and grinned at Seth. "It's not what you think I promise!" Seth held his hands up and Susan punched at Cameron playfully and the guy ran up the stairs to the bedroom. "He's such a dork." Susan grumbled as she turned her smiling face to Seth. "Well I am going to go I need to get home and call Damien." "Yeah whatever." Seth waved her off and disappeared up the stairs, pouting almost as he stomped up the stairs and left her at the open front door. "Gah! Boys!" Susan slammed the door behind her as she stalked out onto the front porch and down comes the rain. It had rained while her and Seth had been eating, just after Damien got home, and was now starting up again quickly. She scowled at the sky and cursed her bad luck as she set to running down the street looking quite the sight in her thigh length black skirt and black halter darting down the street with water pouring over her head. She busted into her house dripping water everywhere. Her father nearly leapt out of his skin as she barged into the house. "Susan! What were you thinking! Don't come barging in here like that!" He ordered angrily as she waved him off and disappeared into the back of the house. Walking into her bedroom she quickly changed into just jeans and simple blouse and picked up her phone. Damien was on speed dial so it took her no time at all to call up his place. "Who the fuck ish it! Wha are yoush doin' callin' here ath thish hour?" Susan rolled her eyes at the sound of Damien's mother on the other end of the line. "Hang up mom I got it. It's Susan. Go back to sleep." There was a click as the deep voice of Damien ordered his mom back to bed. "Hey Susan what do you want. Call to yell at me for what happened at McDonalds." "Damien I just wanted to make sure you were alright. You stormed out of there so fast. Why didn't you stay and try to talk to him?" "Why should I have? He doesn't want anything to do with me and I don't want anything to do with the little shit either." "You two are so much alike. Both hot headed, arrogant, and STUBBORN. I bet you two could get along if you tried." Susan mumbled in a pouty voice that almost always got her, her way with Damien. "Don't do that Susan. You know I hate it when you sound like that. If you really want me to talk to him I will but I can promise it will be a friendly meeting. I will not be held responsible for any injuries he receives at the meeting." "Great! How about tomorrow at the park?" "No Sus-" "Wonderful tomorrow it is. Let me call and tell him." She hung up quickly before he could argue or refuse her and then called Cameron, that's the name listed on her speed dial. "Hey is the jerk there?" She asked as the receiver was picked up on the other end. "This is the jerk what do you want slut." "You want to go to the park with me tomorrow? Damien refused to go. He's being a real dick about lunch." She pouted, using that same tone of voice she used on Damien. "Yeah sure Susan. What time?" Seth asked not liking how hurt Susan sounded over the phone. "As soon as you can." She told him and hung up on him as well before going to tell her older sister everything about that day and her plans to fix this problem with her two friends. ~Sorry to end it here like I did.
