Chapter 5 -- Movie Night

It was amazing how fast his breathing slowed and became regular. I lay there and watched the shadows on his face. I couldn't believe how my life had changed so quickly. What in the world did I do to deserve him?

"I love you." I whispered as I kissed his ear gently. Unfortunately we couldn't stay like this all night. I watched him sleep for an hour or so before I gently shook him awake. He groaned.

"You have to go, love. Your parents don't know you're here remember?" That must have done the trick because he bolted up in bed. "Shit, I gotta go! If they find out I'm gone, I'll never see you again."

He got out of bed and started dressing in the dark. "They'll kill me and then ground me for the rest of my life." He laughed.

With a kiss on the lips he disappeared out my door. I was left lying there, in the moonlit room, at 4 in the morning; try to sort out what had happened this night. So much! What was I going to do about Trav? `Shit' I thought, I was wondering how Kev would handle his brother.

I felt bad for Trav. He was a good person. Besides his little trickery tonight Id never known him to have a dishonest bone in his body. Hell, both he and his brother were devastatingly handsome. He deserved someone for himself though.

I heard the phone ringing next to my ear. It took me several rings to shift my brain in gear sufficiently to command my arms to grab it.

I took a deep breath, "Hello" I said in a voice that would give no clue that I had been awakened.

"Hey there, it's Alex. What's up?" I groaned mentally. Alex was always in a chipper mood. You know, the kind that has a tendency to piss you off sometimes! But that's ok. His smarts, his charm, and his looks made up for it.

"Not much bud. How's it hangin?" I had to ask.

"Well, it's, uh, hanging pretty low if you must know." He laughed, but sounded a little nervous.

"I thought you had to have more than 2 inches for it to actually hang?" I said with a laugh.

"Yeah, well you should be so lucky as to find out." He responded in kind. "Anyway, I called cause I was wondering if you'd like to maybe, ah, go do something, you know like, tonight. Maybe a movie? Maybe you could invite Kev, and,...um...maybe Travis too?"

This was about the oddest conversation we had ever had. I wasn't real sure what was going on, he sounded so unsure, nervous. That wasn't his usual self!

"Well, sure, that sounds good. I mean, Ill have to check with Kev and Trav but I certainly don't have a problem with it. Oh wait, I can't go anywhere, parents are gone. You guys could come over and we could hang out and watch a movie I guess."

"Sure, yeah, that would be great." I could hear the smile in voice. "You'll call Trav..them..and ask?"

"Sure. Tell you what. Unless you hear from me before be here at 6 ok?"

"Excellent, yeah. I'll be there! This will be great." He sounded excited. "I'll let you call them! See you tonight!" Click.

Ok, so THAT phone call provoked some serious thought. Me, Kev, and Travis all in the same place. Won't THAT me a tad bit uncomfortable? Still. I picked up the phone and made the call. Kev didn't seem to have a problem with it when I explained the situation. I asked them to be there around 5. That would give me a few minutes to talk to Travis before Alex arrived.

When I rolled out of bed and looked around the room I noticed right away that something was wrong. I stared at the room trying to figure it out. After a minute or to it hit me. Kev's shirt and briefs were lying on the floor, and the shirt I had worn yesterday was gone. I smiled. Kev had worn my stuff home last night! Briefs? Wait, Kev wore BOXERS not briefs, which meant that the briefs belonged to...Travis. I picked up the briefs and looked at them. I tossed them in my hamper. I picked up Kev's shirt and buried my face in it. I inhaled deeply. God Kev smelled so good, even what was just lingering on his shirt.

I spent the rest of the afternoon picking up the house and washing clothes. Just before 5 I showered and dressed. I picked out some khaki cargo shorts and a loose red a&F shirt. It might be December but it was still warm outside, Besides, I looked good in it.

Promptly at 5pm there came a knock. I opened the door and there stood two beautiful guys, one of which I loved dearly. I beckoned them both in. Travis would hardly meet my eyes as he walked past. I kissed Kev on the cheek as he walked past me.

When I walked into the living room I looked at Travis. I stuck out my hand. "Travis, I have something to give you, will you come with me." He looked nervous but took my hand and I pulled him out of the chair. I glanced at Kev. I was surprised to see a look of terror on his face. I smiled at him and mouthed "I love you." He seemed to relax.

I led Travis out into the back yard and over to a bench in the garden. He sat on it. I sat next to him. I pulled his briefs out of my pocket and handed them to him.

"You left these. I washed them"

He gently pulled them from my hand. And let them drop into his lap. We sat in silence for a few minutes. I followed his gaze and saw he was watching the small waterfall we had.

"I love your brother." I said very softly. How I didn't want to hurt him. But not saying anything would be worse.

I looked at him. "I know..." said so quietly that I could barely make it out. I saw a tear roll down his cheek. "I've loved you for the longest time. I just was so scared to say anything. I though you would hate me. Then I saw you two the other night." He paused. I decided to just let him talk. He would say what he needed to say in his own time. We sat in silence for a minute or two. I could tell he was struggling for the words.

"I'm so sorry for tricking you last night. I really am." He was crying freely now. "That's not who I am I swear. I know I'm a horrible person and I know no one will ever love me."

My heart was breaking for him. I did care about him. I even loved him in a way. It just wasn't romantic love.

I reached out, and with my thumb wiped away the tears. Then I turned his face, gently towards me. He still wouldn't meet my gaze.

"Travis. Travis, please look at me. " His eyes slowly made contact with mine. I continued, "You are a wonderful person. I think you're smart, funny, and so sexy. But I love your brother. I love you LIKE a brother, but I'm IN love with your brother." I could see the anguish in his eyes. "You will find someone that will love you like you deserve. I know you will." I smiled. "Trust me; I have a good feeling about this."

I picked up his briefs and cleaned his face off. I leaned in and kissed him on the cheek. "Come inside, Alex will be here in a few minutes. His head jerked up.

"Alex? You mean like, Alex from the game?" He looked surprised. I could see the hint of a twinkle in his eye.

"Um, yeah. Why? Is that a problem?" I kept my tone neutral for the moment.

He was kicking the dirt with his shoe. "Um, no, not at all." He had a funny look on his face.

I grasped my chest, "Oh, already you've spurned me for another!" I laughed.

"You spurned me." He whispered.

"HEY! Alex is here!" Kev yelled from the back door.

I punched him softly in the arm. "Come on!" and took off to the door.

Inside I saw Alex talking to Kev. They had really never been best buds or anything but they always got along just fine. I did notice that Alex immediately looked past me to Travis. When he saw him he got this relieved satisfied look on his face. Tonight could be a VERY productive night.

I arranged it so Kev and I would sit on one couch, which would leave a couch for Alex and Travis. I'm sneaky that way. During the movie I kept an eye on them. Interesting how they kept creeping closer together.

When that movie ended I made suggestion. "Guys, it's not like its late or anything. I got a second movie. You want to call home and see if you can spend the night?" I didn't think they'd have a problem with that.

A few minutes later, with permission in hand, two bowls of popcorn and a new movie in the machine we settled back into out places. Before I did though I turned out all the lights in the house. After all this movie was a horror flick, I had to set the mood right?

You know that moment in a movie where the music play ominously, and you KNOW that someone is about to jump out and scare you? Well, this movie has one of those. We all jumped like little girls. I did notice however that Alex and Travis were sitting as close together as they could without sitting in each others laps! I kissed Kev on the cheek. He groped me. "Look at those two." I whispered quietly in his ear. "Holy shit," he whispered,"Alex is a queer to? We should change the mane of our gaming group to Knights of the Gay Table!" I couldn't help but chuckle at that.

The movie was over a few minutes later. Kev and I grabbed some pillows and blankets from another room and threw them down in front of the TV. We all arranged the stuff till we had it all set up.

Alex ran out to go to the bathroom. I waited a minute then followed. When Alex came out the bathroom door I was standing there. He looked me in the eye. I decided to say something. I put my hand on his shoulder. "Alex, its ok. You and Travis I mean."

He looked panicked. "What are you talking about? I don't know what you're talking about."

Damn I thought. "Alex, you know what I mean. It's ok, really. Kev and I are together." He still looked nervous but it was draining from him quickly. I squeezed his shoulder and walked past him into the bathroom.

When I returned to the living room the three of them were laid out on the blankets. They had a conspiratal look about them. They were staring at me. "What!?" I said exasperated.

It was Alex who spoke softly. "Would you play for us?" he was pointing at the guitar in the corner of the room.

I groaned. "Guys, it's so late."

"Please" Both Alex and Kev said together.

I sighed. "Ok, just one though." I picked up the guitar and sat down on the edge of the couch. It took me a minute to tune it up.

"This is one that I've been working on for a while. I was hoping that I would get to play it for the person I loved. All this was said looking into Kev's eyes.

I strummed the opening bars. "This is for the one I love."

I sang... (Hero by Enrique Iglasias>

Would you dance if I asked you to dance
Would you run and never look back
Would you cry if you saw me crying
Would you save my soul tonight
Would you tremble if I touched your lips
Would you laugh oh please tell me this
Now would you die for the one you love
Hold me in your arms tonight

I can be your hero baby
I can kiss away the pain
I will stand by you forever
You can take my breath away

Would you swear that you'll always be mine
Would you lie would you remember
My angel be have I lost my mind
I don't care you're here tonight

I can be your hero baby
I can kiss away the pain
I will stand by you forever
You can take my breath away

As I played the musical interlude I couldn't help but notice a few things. Alex and Travis were holding hands. When I looked at Kev he was smiling slightly and I could see his eyes were watering. I smiled back at him. A smile that I hoped conveyed the love I felt.

Ohhh I just wanna hold you, I just
wanna hold you, oh yeah

My angel be have I lost my mind
I don't care your here tonight
I can be your hero baby
I can kiss away the pain
(Oh yeah)
I will stand by you forever
You can take my breath away
I can be your hero
I can kiss away the pain
And I will stand by you forever
You can take my breath away
You can take my breath away
I can be your hero

When I finished I loosened the strings a little and put the guitar back in its stand. I couldn't help but think this had been the best that song had ever sounded. I turned off the light and lay down next to Kev. He kissed me on the lips quietly. When he pulled back he said "Thanks." And the one word conveyed so many feelings.

We fell asleep like that. When I woke up the next morning I saw that Travis and Alex were wrapped up together, naked! Damn I missed it all! I gently covered them with a blanket. They looked so peaceful sleeping there together. I wondered if Alex was what Travis was looking for. I sure hoped so.

To be continued!
