Thank you all for the comments/questions feel free to email me at kd_stories@yahoo.com sorry it has taken so long to put this one out I have been in the middle of moving. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Landon you need to wake up!" I hear. I roll over grunting and cover my head with the pillow to drown out the sudden harsh light. "Fuck off Chandler," I growl, "Why the fuck did you turn the light on." "Come on man, Hank has already called he is waiting at your house," Chandler snaps. I can hear the impatience in his voice. "I don't care about Hank!" I groan out. "Just let me sleep!" Chandler yanks the covers off of me, making me open my eyes and give him a dark look. I can see his eyes are glued to me, and I look down to see my morning wood tenting my briefs. I get out of bed and stretch, "Chill out its just morning wood you act like you don't get hard." He just blushes as I walk past him smirking. I head to the bathroom and relieve myself. As I go to splash water on my face nausea hits me. Looking in the mirror at my bloodshot eyes I can see I look like shit and this splitting headache isn't helping. I dry my hands on my briefs, and head back to the room. Chandler is already dressed, "We need to hurry man." "Relax, I am hung over and don't need your nagging," I tell him sitting on the bed. I can see this frustrates him, and it makes me smile. He throws my pants at me, "I don't care if you're hung over. Get dressed!" "Well I need my shirt," I tell him looking around for it. I find it and pick it up, fuck it smells like death, "Did I puke on this?" "Probably," Chandler says clearly irritated. "Shit I don't have another shirt here, and its cold as fuck outside," I say throwing the shirt down. "Just use one of my hoodies man Liam will be here soon," He says digging in his closet. He tosses a light blue hoodie at me and I catch it. "So are you a virgin?" I ask putting on his hoodie. This catches him off guard and I can't help but grin, he starts to say something when I hear a loud knock on the door. Instead he uses this as an excuse not to answer my question. I hear Chandler and Liam talking in the hall as I put on my shoes. "I am glad you survived, so we need to get our story straight so mom doesn't catch me in a lie," Liam says as he enters the room. "Why don't you just tell her I got shit faced and leave it at that?" I reply. "Cause I would rather not be grounded, and I told her you and Chandler are tight now," He says giving a sympathetic smile to Chandler. I can't help but laugh at this, "did she believe you?" He shrugs his shoulders, "I think so." I watch Chandler, and our eyes meet. Liam's lie might be half true; we might be closer than what we were. "Guess we better go, don't want Hank waiting much longer do we?" I say getting up. Making our way out of the apartment, I think of last night when I saw him shirtless and how it took me a moment to look away. I never felt that attraction before for a boy. Then him being all vulnerable made me want to hug him. Fuck I really need a drink right now. "You okay?" Liam asks. "Yeah just this fucking hangover sucks," I moan. I didn't even notice that Chandler was following behind us, "You coming?" "Yeah, might as well nothing to do here." "Dude Chandler is like part of the family," Liam says smiling as he unlocks the door. I take the backseat not wanting to be riding next to Mr. Sunshine, since my head is killing me, and let Chandler sit next to him. "So you want to play online for a bit when we get to the house?" Liam asks. "Yeah sounds good," Chandler says. I zone out while staring out the window. I can't remember the last time I actually had a friendship like those two. I used to have a best friend, until he walked in on me and his mom. I wanted his mom for awhile, and she talked to Mrs. Heartlane a lot. Zach wasn't supposed to even be home just yet. He had been given a suspension for a week and then had to do three weeks of after school detention for smoking weed in the bathroom, I was there smoking too I just didn't get caught. I was supposed to just wait in his room for him, then we were supposed to smoke and go skate for a bit. That was the plan but his mom got home an hour before Zach was supposed to. You can imagine what we got to doing, and the shitty thing was we fucked in Zach's bed. He walked into the room, and well he didn't expect to see his mom riding me. Needless to say we had a huge blow out, it ended up with me knocking his ass down, and he told me just to leave and not to talk to him ever again. I just shrugged my shoulders. I actually cried that night, because that's when I knew I was fucked up beyond repair. I let a good friendship be destroyed because I needed the physical contact. I snap out of the memory, and notice that we are back at the house. I get out of the car not saying anything and walk into the house, where I almost run right into Hank. "Whoa buddy, what's the rush?" "I just wanted to change before we head out," I tell him not meeting his eyes. He puts a hand on my shoulder, "No problem, go change I will go get the car started." Walking into my room I shut the door behind me; and lock it. Taking off Chandler's hoodie I toss it on the bed. I want to take a shower, but there isn't time. I walk to the closet and grab a plain white shirt, and a clean pair of jeans. I don't want to keep Hank waiting so I toss on the clothes, and I am out the door. I walk out to the drive way and Hank is waiting in his BMW, it's a beautiful car. I slide into the passenger seat noticing that it was leather interior. "Nice car," I say shutting the door. He smiles, "Thank you, it's my toy as your mother calls it." I nod, "That sounds like something Helen would say." We don't talk much on the way to the coffee shop, he lets me mess around with the radio, but since I don't really know any of the stations here I just leave it on a mix station. It's not an uncomfortable silence like the one Helen and I had the other day. "So, I am taking you too my first coffee shop that I opened," Hank says proudly. "Cool," I reply not knowing what else to say. Five minutes later we pull up to a jam packed coffee shop. The sign out front read Coffee lover's paradise. "It looks really busy," I comment looking around at the nearly full parking lot. Hank chuckles, "That's why I am opening up my thirteenth coffee shop." "How do you keep the customers coming back?" I ask. "That's really easy. I keep the menu simple, not trying to say the other coffee shops are horrible for having a ton of different options, but with more options prices go up. I keep it simple offer different flavor hot or iced, and a few baked goods. Prices are kept reasonable." "That makes sense," I tell him. "Let's go in," he says getting out of the car. I follow him into the shop. The first thing I notice is how busy it is. There are people everywhere, some on their laptops others talking, the staff is working hurriedly behind the counter, and I barely noticed the music playing over the noise of the room. "Mr. G in the house!" I hear someone shout. Hank just laughs, as he greets the boy behind the counter, "Kale, how are you?" "Im doing super good," He says smiling. "You want the normal?" "Yes please, and what would you like Landon?" Hank asks. I don't like that he said my name, because now this Kale dude is looking me over. I furrow my brow. "Just Ice mocha," I say. "Do you want extra espresso?" Kale asks. "No," I answer firmly. He shrugs his shoulder, "Suit yourself, but it looks like you need a pick me up." "Tell Jennie I am here Kale, I will be sitting over in the corner," Hank says motioning me to follow. We sit down opposite of each other in the booth, "So how was last night?" "It was ok, nothing much went on really," I tell him avoiding his eyes. "So on a scale of one to ten how hung-over are you?" He asks. "I...I.." I try to say something but I keep stammering. He holds up a finger meaning to hold on, "Helen might have bought the whole you and Chandler gotten chummy, but don't. I know a hung over person when I see one. Landon we talked about having an honest relationship, don't go back on that. I am not trying to grill you about getting drunk you're a teenager and you are going too. I would rather you not." "You might know when someone is hung-over, but you don't know anything about me," I spit out. "You are correct, that's why I wanted to take you here to spend some time with you, get to know my step-son." I open my mouth, but I am interrupted when a brown haired woman comes up to the booth, "Hank! How are you?" "Jennie how are you?" Hank asks. "Great, business is booming as you see. Kale is on the honor roll again! So his chances of getting into a good school are even better! How is Helen? Let her know it's time to get our nails done!" "I see business is going great, and I will tell Helen. Jennie this is my step-son Landon," He says motioning to me. "Awe aren't you just adorable, I am Jennie General Manager for Hank," She says sticking out her hand for me to shake. "Good to meet you," I say shaking her hand. "Well I have a few calls to make; Kale should be bringing your drinks over," She tells Hank and walks off. "Kale is her son?" I ask. "Yup, that is her pride and joy," Hank says smiling. This makes me dislike Kale even more, his mom is so proud of him, and she shows it without hesitation. I roll my eyes at the thought of it all. "You know he is gay right?" I tell Hank. He chuckles, "Yes I know he is gay. Kale is a good kid, and a senior hell it would do you some good to be around someone as nice as him." "What does that mean?" I ask defensively. "Meaning that he could be a good influence on you Landon, I am not your enemy. I wish you could understand that." I go to say something back, but I am interrupted by Kale who rapidly approached the table. "Here you go Mr. G!" Kale says coming up to the booth with two drinks. "Thank you Kale, by the way this is my step-son Landon." "Good to meet you officially." Kale says smiling showing his bright white teeth, he looks like his mother having the same shaggy brown hair and green eyes. "Yeah you too," I mumble. "You have to excuse him; he is hung-over from a party last night," Hank tells him. I shoot Hank a dirty look. "The one from school?" Kale asks. "Yeah I guess that's the one," I reply. "I was there but didn't see you, and I would have remembered your face," He says blushing slightly. "Yeah well I was busy," I tell him. I think he finally got the hint, because he said his goodbye and went back to the counter. I take a drink of my mocha and I hated to admit it but it was so good. "Thanks for the coffee," I tell Hank. "It's no problem. Care to tell me why you are so resistant towards me?" "Look its nothing against you. Just, I have a hard time trusting adults okay." "So that's it huh? You just throw me in with everyone else who has burned you, not even trying to give me a chance?" He asks I don't know what to tell him at first, I just look at him. "I don't know what to tell you." He shakes his head, "Well I can tell you that you're more stubborn than any of the other boys. I just want you to be happy Landon, and I want you to do well here." "At what cost?" I ask. He looks at me confused. "There is no cost. I might not be your biological father, but there is no cost for me caring about you," He reassures me. After taking another drink of my coffee, I finally tell him, "I am trying." "That's all I ask," He says smiling, "Now come on let me show you around hell grab some lunch and go to the movies or mall." ------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Chandler's POV) I put the play station controller down. "I think I am done," I tell Jake. I wasn't focused, and I was not about to get my ass kicked again by him. "Tired of getting owned?" Jake asks. I just laugh it off, "Yeah I am. Why aren't you at your friends?" "I'm going there in a bit. Was going to talk to dad, but him and Landon aren't back yet," Jake says as he turns off the play station. I lean back into the couch, "yeah they have been gone all day." "Let's hope dad hasn't dropped Landon off in a pond," Jake says laughing. I laugh at the thought. "He can be a handful," I admit. "I heard Liam tell mom he stayed at your house, how was that?" I shrug my shoulders, "It was ok, we just talked for a little bit and went to bed." "That sounds boring," He says getting up. "What sounds boring?" Liam asks as he flops down next to me. "Chandler and Landon just talking last night," Jake says as he leaves the living room. "Yeah for real how did last night go? Bro, thank you again for saving my ass," Liam says gripping my shoulder. I shrug, "It's no problem, and honestly wasn't that bad, he was still drunk so we talked for a minute then went to bed. I may or may not have woken him up..." "You had another nightmare?" I just nod my head, "Yeah I have had them almost every day this week." "I'm sorry man, have you seen your counselor lately?" "No, just haven't had the money." "Dude just let mom know, you know you are a part of this family!" He says getting worked up. "Look man I feel like a charity case, and I have told you this. It's my bullshit that I have to deal with, I don't want to....never mind dude forget it. I am going to bed," I say getting up from the couch. It's still early, and I don't want to go straight to bed. Instead, I run my hands through my hair out of frustration, and take off my glasses. I'm not even tired so I grab my hoodie and make my way out of the window onto the roof. I sit down pulling my knees to my chest. I hate myself right now, I hate that I just freaked out on Liam, hate the fact I can't stop these stupid nightmares, and I hate the fact I have feelings for a straight boy that makes me so damn frustrated that it makes him that much more attractive. I don't know how long I had been sitting on the roof when I hear someone flop down beside me, this causes me to jump a little bit. "Did I scare you?" I am still trying to catch my breath, "Yes." Landon just gives me that grin that I love, "What are you doing up here?" "Just needed some fresh air," I tell him. "Well, I think you got some I have been home for thirty minutes," He says looking at me. "Yeah, you and Hank were gone all day. How was it?" I actually hear enthusiasm in his voice as he responds, "he took me too one of his coffee shops, it was so amazing. I really love coffee I don't think anyone can understand how much I really like coffee. I met this employee Kale he is gay." "Yeah I know Kale he goes to our school, he is such a really nice guy," I say. "It doesn't bother you he is gay?" Landon asks. "No, why would it?" "He likes other guys." "Still not seeing where it should bother me," I say shifting towards him. "Hank said pretty much the same thing," He says looking at me with confusion. "Hank is normally right," I tell him. "He also said it would do me some good to be around Kale, that he is so nice," Landon says rolling his eyes. "Well you are kind of rough around the edges," I say smiling. This gets him to smile, "Yeah well I keep things interesting, but he is a little to flamey for me to hang out with." "Kale is a cool person, I have spent a lot of time with him," I say. Honestly he is probably the only person that knows I am gay, but I don't tell this to Landon. "Yeah well Hank also thinks we will be good friends." I laugh at him, "Well we could be if you wouldn't be such an ass." I don't expect what came next he moves in and kisses me on the lips. I don't even have time to react before he pulls away and looks horrified. He hops up taking off into the house. I get up to go after him, "Landon!" but he is already out of my room. I try and follow him, but he has already run down the stairs to his room. I knock on his door, but he doesn't say answer me. "Landon, can we talk? Please?" "Leave me alone..." I barely hear him say. "Please, let me in." I say. "Get the fuck away from me!" He tells me through the door. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sorry this took awhile to be put out, things have come up and I am in the middle of moving, I hope you enjoyed the cliffhanger! 6b will come out next month, I really appreciate all the email I love hearing from you all!
