Do not read this if you can't handle high-school sexual experiences between males or if it's illegal where ever you live. The Tyler I knew - Chapter 6 Tyler was speechless. He just stared right at his sister, a hundred things were going through his head and he wasn't sure which one to start with. Finally it was another female voice to break the silence. "Are you alright, hun?" He turned to his right, only to find Andy's mom sitting there looking right back at him with the comforting smile she always wore. I'm. fine. what's going on?" Tyler managed to force out. Sheryl looked at him for a moment, then spoke softly. "Well dear, Mark and I made a trip today to see your mom like he said he would. And some other things come up. Not that we are complaining or anything, it's just that some things are a little different than we expected that's all. "Why, what happened? Am I not able to live here and work with you?" "No no.. as a matter of fact. That part went quite well. And I don't mean that any of this is bad." she added looking at Erica. "But there are some things that came up that were not expected. "I'm not going to be living with mom anymore, Tyler." Erica added in. His attention was now on Erica. "Did she do something to you?" Erica looked at Sheryl for a moment as if to get approval, then back at Tyler. "Yes, actually she did. And I am glad she did." "Why don't you two go talk up stairs or something." Mark suggested. Tyler nodded and walked towards the stairs, pausing to let Erica climb them first. "So what happened?" Tyler asked as soon as they made it to the bedroom. Erica let out a soft sigh, then started. "Mom and I had started arguing about me staying at my friends all the time. She said I wasn't there enough to clean her house, said I needed to be there to do all the cooking and things that needed to be done. According to her she shouldn't have to do any of it. Well when she started on it, I made the mistake of saying that I should just leave like you did. She pushed me into the wall, but for once I didn't back down. It made me mad, Tyler. I was upset that you made it out of there and I didn't want to have to be scared of here anymore. So I got up and hit her back. I don't know what I was thinking because I knew right then she could have gotten me in trouble. But of course I guess it wouldn't be such a bad thing if they came and shipped me off, would it?" Tyler's anger was on the rise as she continued. "Anyway, we made it to the living room, and she didn't seem to be letting up. I spun around right in front of the door to tell her I wasn't coming back, when all I felt was something hard hit me on the right side of my head. The woman is crazy, Tyler. She is absolutely crazy." She paused for a minute placing her hand on the right side of her face. This caught Tyler's attention. "Let me see." Tyler said moving over to sit next to his sister. "Are you alright.?" "I'm fine..Let me finish." She said pulling away from him. "Anyway, I must have passed out because when I woke up there were all sorts of people around me. It took me a while to realize what had just happened. I guess when she hit me Mark and Sheryl had just walked up to the door and witnessed it. They must have called the cops and the ambulance because I was surrounded by them when I woke up. Mom was taken to jail, and I was transported to the hospital. The Doctor told me that I had a very minor concussion and I have a small cut above my ear. After the Doctor walked out, Mark, Sheryl and Andy walked in with another female. Andy told me who they all were and told me why they were there. I guess Mark and Sheryl told the other lady who was with Children Services that I could come stay with them. They also told her about you and what all had happened recently. So in the mean time I will be staying here until things are worked out." Tyler sat there for a moment, a mix of anger and excitement running through him. He felt bad for what happened to his sister, but maybe this time someone will actually help them and do something about it. "So what did the lady from Children Services say was going to happen when mom got out of Jail?" Tyler asked. "She said she wasn't sure. But she is supposed to come over here tomorrow to talk to both of us to see what we want to do. That Mark guy, is he really as nice as he puts off to be?" "Most definitely." Tyler said. "Do you think they will let me live here too?" Erica said hopefully. "Maybe, I don't know." Tyler sat staring at the floor. He couldn't help but hope they would let her stay. He didn't want to send his sister back in there alone again. On the other hand they had already offered to let one stay there, why would they want another? "You guys about done?" Came Marks voice from the hallway. "Yeah. you can come in." Tyler said, not looking up from the floor. "Good, can you two come down? Sheryl and I have something we want to talk to you both about." The two stood up and followed Mark back downstairs and took a seat next to each other on the couch. "Today at the hospital I spoke with the lady from Children Services. I told her about you staying here and hopefully working with us. She said it sounded like a good idea, but she would have to see what she can arrange. As for you, Erica.. I told her that we would be more than happy to take you in as well. We don't have much room here so I was hoping you'd want to stay with Sheryl. Tonight of course you can stay here with your brother... but I guess I mean in the long run. I know neither of you want to go back home and I now see the reasons you have more clearly." Tyler and Erica both exchanged surprised looks.. Sheryl noticing this spoke up. "Is this what you want? Because it is totally up to the both of you. Neither of us mind at all. I promise-" "No, we don't mind.. At all. but.. how are you going to manage this?" Tyler cut in. "The lady from Children Services is coming over tomorrow to talk to you both. We can work it out then, maybe she will have some answers for us. As for now let's all try and get some sleep." Mark stated. "Can I talk to Tyler about one more thing before we go to bed?" Erica asked. "Sure! You two sit here, I am going to walk Sheryl out, and Andy can go ahead and get ready for bed." He said, getting up and meeting Sheryl at the door. Once they were all out of the room Erica asked. "Can I ask you something?" And without waiting for an answer she blurted out. "Are you gay?" Tyler was shocked for a moment. He didn't know how to answer. Would she be mad at him for it. "It's okay if you are, I just want to know." Tyler nodded "yes" but couldn't say anything. "Alright. Do you know where I am sleeping tonight?" She asked. "Do you want me to sleep down here with you?" Tyler asked. "Where do you normally sleep?" Erica didn't wait long for an answer. Sensing that Tyler didn't want to answer the question she spoke up. "Oh! You sleep with him. Then no, I want you to go sleep with him. I'll be fine. I'm not that upset or anything. In fact this has made me feel a bit better, knowing that something just might change for the better for once." "You sure.?" "More than sure! Go! Go to bed! I'll be fine, I promise!" "K." Tyler stood up, then leaded down and gave his sister a hug. "I'll be right up those stairs if you need me. Don't hesitate, alright?" "I won't. I promise!" She said with a smile. "Goodnight" "Night." Fifteen minuets later Tyler walked into the bedroom to find Andy on the bed waiting. "Feel better now that you had a shower?" "I'm fine." Tyler said, pulling back the covers and climbing under them. "Do you want to talk about it?" Andy asked nervously. "Can we just talk about this tomorrow?" Andy wrapped his arm over Tyler, pulling him closer and kissing him on the back of his head. "I love you!" "I love you too, goodnight." Tyler softly answered. The next morning wasn't as eventful or talkative as the night before. They all met downstairs for breakfast but nothing was said. After breakfast Mark announced that he had to go to the barn and get a few things ready and Andy would have to go. "Tyler you have my cell phone number, I will be right over the hill. If that lady shows up before I get back, call me, alright?" Everyone was gone but Tyler and Erica. The two sat staring at the television. Erica turned and looked at Tyler. "Do you think they will make me go back to mom's?" Tyler looked at Erica for a moment. She was definitely concerned. "I don't know, but I will do everything I can to keep us away from there." "I just don't want to go alone if I have to go. She will treat me a lot worse now, I know she will. Can't I just stay here like you?" Tyler turned off the Television and made his way next to her putting an arm on her shoulder. "If you have to go back, I will go too. But you heard them say you can stay with Sheryl. Would that be alright." A knock came from the door as Tyler was releasing his sister from a meaningful hug. "I bet that's the lady from Children Services." Tyler said looking at his sister. "Just be honest with her, no matter what. Make sure you tell her everything. Including how you feel about going back." Erica nodded as Tyler walked over to the door. "Hello dear, I am Traci, from Children Services. Are you Tyler?" "Yeah, you can come in." Tyler said, stepping to the side and letting her in. She was a young lady, with short blond hair and a caring smile. "Is Mark here?" Traci asked. "No, he's down at the barn, just a minute I will call him." Traci nodded and walked over to the couch where Erica was sitting. "You doing alright, Erica? How is your head?" "It's been better!" She said, forcing a smile. "Can I ask you something really fast?" Erica added looking around for Tyler. "Sure!" "Are you going to make us go back to my mom?" "If it makes you feel any better I am keeping you two away from there for a while. The rest will be up to the courts. But I do have the power to remove you from there temporarily. But I don't know how long that will last. It depends on how hard your mother fights it." "He said he would be right up, and that I am to offer you something to drink." Tyler said as he walked back in the room. "That's sweat of you, hun. But I will manage. I really can't stay long I am mainly here to explain the process of some things and to drop something off to Mark." The room fell silent for a moment. Tyler had a million questions he wanted to ask, but couldn't force any out. Erica on the other hand was only worried about one thing. She didn't want to every have to look at her mother again. "Tyler, do you mind if I talk to you alone for a moment?" Traci said, standing up. "Sure!" Tyler said uncertainly, standing up and guiding her to the kitchen. As they entered the kitchen, Traci didn't waste any time. "Do you want to stay here?" "Yeah!" Tyler answered. Probably a bit more excitement in his voice than he intended. Traci smiled. "What about your sister? Do you think she would want to stay here, or at Sheryl's?" "I know she would. You don't understand. Anywhere would be better than with my mother. She is really messed up." "Then here is what I will do. I will talk to Mark about putting you two here as a temporary home. That is the only way I can do it right now. Mark will have to go through some paperwork but at least it will put you in a safer place for now. Is there any questions you have for me right now?" "Not right now." "Mark told me you're now working for him, and he has gotten you a cell phone. So I am going to give you my personal cell phone number for you to contact me any time you want. If you need anything at all. Alright?" After exchanging their phone numbers, they walked back into the living room just as Mark and Andy entered the front door. "Hello again!" Mark said, walking up to Traci and shaking her hand. "Did you get something to drink?" "That's alright, Mark. I don't need anything. I only have a few minutes to get this done and get back to the office." She said sitting down in her previous seat next to Erica and opening up her bag. "Here are some papers you'll need to sign. I do need to know where each of them are going to be. Is Erica going to Sheryls?" "Well we hadn't really talked about it." Mark said, looking at Erica. "Is that what you want to do? "That's ok!" Erica said. "I would be fine either here or there. As long as I don't have to go back to my mothers house. "It's settled then." Traci said with a smile pulling out another set of papers from her bag. "Take these papers and make sure Sheryl fills them out the best she can. The other is for you, Mark. Would it be possible for you two to drop them off to me tomorrow at my office?" "Yeah, that would be fine." Mark said. "But what about Erica's clothes and such?" Would they be able to go get some from the house?" "Would she be alright until tomorrow? I would be able to take you all there to pick up some things." "That'll be fine." Erica spoke up. "I can wash what I had on yesterday and wear it again." "Sounds like a plan then." Traci said standing up. "Just make sure you have that paperwork to me tomorrow morning so I can get it all rolling. They all stood up and said their goodbyes. Moments later they were all left standing in a quiet living room with Mark the first to speak. "Erica, go ahead and wash those clothes of yours if you want. You and Tyler can hang out here for a while. Andy And I are going back down to the barn, when ever you are ready Tyler, you two bring the 4-wheeler down alright? "Ok." Tyler answered. Andy walked up to Tyler, giving him a hug then walking out the front door with Mark. ** Sorry it took so long for this one. Some of you who know me know that things around here have been quite. crazy? Hell, that may even be an understatement. Anyway, the next chapter I HOPE shouldn't take as long and will be more. interesting? I guess I tend to find myself getting TOO MUCH into detail. I'll try and work on that. Thanks for reading!
