See y'all soon now! Time Will Tell Chapter 11 - Damage Control I pulled Conner's arm so that it was over me instead of resting uncomfortably against my stomach. He stirred a little and snuggled up to me a bit more. That simple movement of his pleased me no end, he had moved closer to me even if he was asleep and I felt so damn special. I was lying next to the guy I love, embracing him. I felt his warm breath flowing down my neck as his head rested so that our faces were touching. He looked gorgeous. Even when he was sleeping. I reached over to turn the bedside lamp off. When I did, I realised after a second or so that it wasn't only the lamp that was lighting up my room. I sat up quickly, waking Conner who opened his eyes in surprise. I saw the sunlight pouring in the window. "Oh shit!" "What's the matter? What's going on?" "It's eleven thirty." I said looking at the clock on my wall. "It can't be I didn't get here till after one." "In the morning Conner." "Oh fuck! You're kidding me right?" He sat up looked round and saw the sunlight coming in through the curtain. "My mum's going to kill me. What am I going to do? She'll know I didn't go home last night." "We've got to get you out of here before we worry about that." "Shit. I can't believe we fell asleep." We got out of my bed and started to dress ourselves. As soon as I was ready I whispered to Conner to stay in my room until I had said hi to my mum and had thought of a way to get him out of my bedroom. I walked down stairs doing my best to hide my guilt. If my mum knew that Conner and I had had sex last night and had disobeyed her she would go mad. I got into the kitchen and saw my brother at the counter with a bowl of cereals and a magazine. "What's wrong with you?" He asked, I went white. "What do you mean?" "You never get dressed before you have your breakfast and have had a shower, where are you going?" "Where's mum?" I asked quietly, almost whispering and ignoring Sean's questions until I had found out whether I was in trouble or not. "What? Why? What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost." "Where is she?" "Shopping, she isn't going to be back till about two. Danny what is it?" "Oh thank fuck for that." "Danny what's going on?" "Conner came round and. Well. He kinda stayed." "So you kinda shagged him did you?" He said it with a huge grin. "Pervert!" "Thought so!" I smiled at my brother in resignation and headed back up to my room. Conner was dressed and looking really worried. "My mum's gone shopping till two. We have time to think up something to tell your parents, now." I saw a wave of relief make his body relax a bit. He got up and followed me downstairs to the kitchen. We walked in and Sean sat there smiling like an idiot. Conner sat down next to me and looked at Sean with a 'what do you want' look on his face. "What?" "Nothing." Sean replied trying to keep his laughter in. "What is it?" "You look pretty tired. Late night? Couldn't sleep for tossing and turning huh?" Conner finally realised what Sean was getting at and laughed a little from Sean's joke and a little from embarrassment. "You're just jealous cause you're still a virgin little brother." I said. "Am I though?" I looked over to him shocked. "What? Who?" I asked intrigued now. Sean opened his mouth to reply, then looked a little cautious and chose to stay quiet looking sheepishly down to his breakfast. "Who was it Sean?" I repeated. "I was joking. I am a virgin." I could tell he was lying, I always could. There was something he didn't want to tell me. "Sean, tell me. I won't tell mum if that's what you're worried about." "No that's not what I'm worried about. It doesn't matter." "It obviously does or you wouldn't be looking so worried. Come on, tell me." "It was Star Mariscal." "That fucking tramp? You can do better than that. You could have had someone that cared for you. Jesus, she's a veritable village bicycle, everyone gets a go with her. You should have waited Sean. You know? For someone who it would have been special with." "I know, but I wasn't totally sober and couldn't wait till I found someone special. It would have taken too long. I don't know, I sort of regret it but it just happened." "No offence to you but with her those things really do just happen. Look at what happened to me when she jumped on Conner. She's a slag." "I know." "Well, it is your life. I just want what's good for you man, you know?" "I know Danny. Thanks." "For what? Having a go at you?" "For being there for me, you know, helping me out all the time, generally having my best interests at heart." "You're my brother, I can't let you go tarring me with the same brush can I?" Sean laughed at my joking comment. He seemed a little upset, more than just uncomfortable with the conversation we had just had. Something was bugging him. I thought it best to ask him what was up some other time, when Conner wasn't around. I didn't want to embarrass him in front of people. ***** "Sean, get that will you?" I shouted down the stairs. The phone continued to ring. "Sean! Could you get the phone?" Still no answer. "Sean! Oh for fucks sake." I stood and went down the stairs to find the phone. I looked for my brother on the way but couldn't see him anywhere. "Yes! Hello?" "Danny?" I don't know what happened. My heart sank, I felt faint. I was panicking. What do I do? What do I do? I started to feel sick, butterflies in my stomach. Butterflies on speed may I add! I held the phone to my ear and froze. The voice on the other end of the line left me so confused I didn't know what to do. I froze. "Danny? Is that you?" "Yes." My response came out faintly, I cleared my throat and repeated, "Yes." "I didn't know whether to phone or not." I fell silent again. I didn't know what to do or say. The emotions that were running around my head were all mixed up. Love, hate, anger, disappointment amongst many. "So, how are you?" "I'm, I'm OK. I guess." "I understand if you don't want to talk to me." "I don't know if I want to or not." One of the emotions that was spinning my head round making me feel so dizzy seemed to catch on my mind, it stopped where it was. My anger began to monopolise me. "I don't! I can't! Why are you doing this to me? I hate you, you fucking bastard! How could you do that to me?" "I couldn't help it Danny. Please believe me when I say it wasn't personal to you." "It wasn't fucking personal to me? Then what was it? You deserted me." "I didn't desert you, I am still here for you." "Still where? Huh? You're not HERE are you?" "I don't have to be there to love you Danny." "That's not what we're talking about! WE'RE TALKING ABOUT YOU BEING HERE FOR ME! And you aren't. You don't give a SHIT about how I feel, you just want to clear your conscience for your own benefit! You were never there for me anyway. YOU were never THERE for me! YOU ARE NOT MY FATHER! You don't care about me or you would have rang sooner. You weren't there for me you just stayed at home reading the fucking newspaper or on the phone to your piece on the side you fucking cheating bastard. And how about when you most needed to be there for me? Huh? Did you even realise that the day you left me, you left mum, you left Sean I was in an accident? I nearly died DAD, were you there for me then? I was in a coma for over three weeks DAD, were you there for me then? NO you WEREN'T!" With that I slammed the phone down and slumped to the floor crying. I heard the front door opening and tried to recompose myself before whoever was coming in could find me crying like this again. I knew that I could never do it in time, but I tried nonetheless. "Danny what the fuck is going on? Who are you shouting at?" Sean stood looking at me in disbelief. I looked up to him and couldn't stop crying, seeing his face full of worry made me cast my eyes back down to the floor and shut them again. I felt him put his arms around me. "What is it Danny? Was someone on the phone? Who was it? Did you have an argument with Conner?" I couldn't for the life in me recompose myself enough to answer his questions. He realised this and just stayed there hugging me until I was ready to talk. "Who was it?" "It was dad." Sean fell silent. He was obviously as shocked as I was. "What did he? What did he say?" I told him what had been said. I told him I didn't know why I was crying. He stayed there hugging me. "It's probably a good job you answered because I would have let him have it straight away and hung up before he got the chance to say anything back!" "I didn't know what to say. I was confused so badly. I just had all this pent up anger that I needed to let out." "I can relate to that." "You wouldn't want to talk to him if he rang again?" "No! You can tell him that. He walked out on us, I will never forgive him for that. He betrayed all of us, not just mum. He chose some little bitch on the side over us too Danny. He doesn't want us." "He rang though, doesn't that show that we mean something to him?" "No, it means he felt guilty. We don't mean anything to him or else he would have wanted us to go with him." "Maybe. I don't think that we should tell mum about this. It would only upset her again." "That's probably a good idea." ***** "Hi Scott! It's Robbie." "Hey Robbie, How are you?" "Great, listen I was just wondering if you'd like to meet up tonight?" Scott wasn't sure what to say, he knew that Robbie wanted to be more than friends. He didn't know how to feel about it though. He was still in love with Danny. Maybe if he went out with someone else he would fall out though, it would at least take his mind off him. "Yeah, sure. Where would you like to meet up?" "I was kind of thinking that we could see a movie or something. The Beach is on at the Showcase." "Yeah do you want to grab a bite to eat first or something? My treat." "Great idea, I don't expect you to pay though, don't worry about it." "No honest, I'd like to anyway. Don't worry about it, it won't be anything extravagant though, Pizza Express maybe?" "Sounds great. If you're sure?" "Yeah I'm sure. How about we meet at 7:30 at the pizza place then?" "That's fine for me, I'll see you there then." "Uh huh. Great. Bye Robbie." "Yeah, bye Scott." Scott put down his phone, smiling to himself. He knew that Robbie was smitten with being able to go out with him. It made him feel good about himself for the first time in quite a while. He felt loved! It was difficult for him to admit but Scott knew that he was attracted to Robbie and he wanted to have a go at this relationship. He was beginning to realise that a relationship with me would never happen, it upset him but he knew that for everyone to be happy, he would have to forget the idea of us getting together. He continued his flattered smile and inspected the contents of his wardrobe for something impressive to wear for this first date. ***** "Trix! Hi!" "Hi Conner. I've come round to apologise to you, what I said last night was out of line. Way out! I just wasn't expecting that to happen, it surprised me a bit. I guess that it's just a case of me getting scared by what I don't understand. I'm really sorry though and none of it was Danny's fault, he was shattered when you left him last night. Please don't take what I did out on him." "We actually made up last night. I went over to his because I was feeling guilty about the way I had treated him. We're OK again." "Good, I'm glad. He's a great person you know? You wanna keep with him." Conner smiled, he knew that Trix was still a little uncomfortable talking about gay relationships, even though he was aware of them. He realised what an effort he was making. "You don't have to tell me that. I already intend to spend the rest of my life with the guy. Do you want to come in for a drink or something?" "No that's alright, I don't want to get in your way." "Don't be stupid! Come in, you won't be in the way, I was actually just watching the telly so you're not interrupting anything important." Conner lead Trix into the living room where his parents were reading newspapers. "Mum, dad, this is Tristan." "Oh so you're Trix are you? It's nice to finally meet you, we've heard a lot about you." Said Conner's mum excitedly. "Hi. Thanks, I hope you've settled in well to life in Parkway." "Yeah we have really, it's a nice town! We've made some good friends already." "Good." "So, are you our Conner's boyfriend then?" Trix's face went bright red, he was looking at Conner's dad in shock, he didn't know what to say. "SAMUEL!" Conner's mum looked angrily to his dad who was sitting almost crapping himself from laughing at the reaction he had got from Trix. "Nooo. No it's not me!" "He knows that Tristan, it's just his sick sense of humour. Don't take offence!" "Come on Trix, we'll go up to my room shall we?" Conner said trying to save Trix. "OK" The pair stepped out of the lounge and Conner could hear his mum start to tell off his dad. He was pleased, he had embarrassed them both to no end. They made it up to the bedroom and Conner invited Trix to sit on the bed. "Ignore my dad. He can be a right prick when he wants to be!" "That's alright." "You like Green Day?" "Yeah. They're great." Conner put a CD in his music system and started playing it. Nice Guy's Finish Last started playing quietly. Trix looked at Conner smiling smugly. "I can play this, I can play most of their songs actually." "What do you play?" Conner asked a little surprised. "Guitar." "I had no idea. You just play covers or do you write your own?" "I mostly just play covers. I couldn't write music to save my life, I taught myself by listening so I wouldn't know where to stick which note on paper, I've made up some stuff but haven't written it down." "You'll have to play me something some time." "Sure, if you want." "I have a drum kit in the garage. My parents won't let me keep it in the house. Too noisy. It's good for taking your aggression out on." "Yeah Danny said something about you being in his orchestra thing. So you're a musician and a footy star? Impressive." "I wouldn't say I'm a footy star but I like playing it." "No serious you are pretty good. Hopkin's was talking about you being on the 1st eleven when I was at training the other day." "Really? But the team was chosen long ago wasn't it?" "Yeah but Dennison was kicked off because he got in a fight with a London boy on the last football trip so there's a space open." "Dennison's a striker though, wouldn't they pick Porter to take his spot?" "Porter's not as good as people say he is. Hopkin realises that. He only mentioned you though so don't get you hopes up, I probably shouldn't have said anything really. Even if you don't picked its Hopkin's last year of school and Mr. Green's told me I'm captain next year so you'd definitely be on the team next season." "Wow, I'd be like the only guy on the team younger than in the sixth form, cool." "If you're picked this year, yeah, you're good enough." "You think?" "Yeah sure." "Cool." "So you coming out tonight?" "I'm not sure what's going on. Danny hasn't called me yet, he said that we might all be going to the Dog And Bone. I get served there so we could stay there till closing time." "I'm surprised. I thought that Danny might want to spend some time with you alone tonight. To talk about stuff." "Well we spent a fair bit alone last night. Although we didn't talk much." Conner said and then suddenly looked a little nervous. "Don't worry, I don't mind you talking about it, I don't mind seeing you like you were last night really. It's just you surprised me, don't tell me any details alright?" "Sure, that's fine." "So you shagged each other then?" "Is that not details?" "Not really. Not if you don't say more than yes or no." "Yes then." "That's more than I needed to know!" Conner laughed at that. "You're just being fucking difficult now!" "Sorry man." Conner's conversation with Trix left him feeling pleased about himself. He had always liked Trix but had had the impression that Trix didn't like him. This kind side to Trix was new to him, he liked it. He had never really spoken to him alone and realised that he had a good friendship forming with him. Did you like it? Did you hate it? Tell me at wanna_get_lucky@hotmail.com Feedback would be nice.
