At least not yet...lol Being somewhat superstitious, I was going to skip to Chapter 14. But I've been very careful around ladders and cats lately, my horseshoes are all hanging correctly, and my rabbit's foot (lucky for me - unlucky for the poor rabbit) has been well-stroked, so I ought to be ok (knock on wood). LOL I'm not THAT bad..... Here's Chapter 13...... Fup ****************************************************************************** FROM CHAPTER 12 "Maybe," David agreed, squeezing Kelly's shoulder. "We'd better get dressed, mom and dad will be home in a bit." The boys retrieved their clothes, fully dressing except for their shoes and socks, and made their way upstairs to the living room, David sitting on the sofa, Kelly on the recliner across the room watching some rerun on TV when David's parents returned home. Sleepily, David greeted them, nodding at their suggestion of going to bed. He glanced over to the recliner, where his boyfriend was softly snoring, and grinned. Shaking Kelly awake, the boys returned to the basement and were soon asleep. UNDER PRESSURE/HIGH SCHOOL 13 - Rumors and Reputations "Hey stud," Steve greeted him Monday morning with a friendly leer. "What the hell are you talking about?" David responded. "Don't play dumb with us," he grinned, nodding his head at the normal crowd at the lockers. Kelly gave him a sympathetic grin, and the other three were just wiggling their eyebrows. "You guys have no clue what you're talking about." "Uh huh, good news travels fast," Sean interjected. "I can't believe this. Who told you all?" David asked. "Well, the 'ladies', dropped by this morning, and we were wondering why you weren't with Sally, so we asked," Sean shrugged. "Oh, King of the Royal Sceptre," Steve started, then broke into laughter, setting off the rest of them. "Well, if I'm the king, then I think you all should grovel at my feet," David answered, getting into the teasing. "I don't think it's your feet that are famous," Jim responded, grinning. "And forget about us asking to grovel before THAT!" Mark stated. "You guys are pathetic, you know that?" David laughed. "Yep, that's why we hang around you," Steve joked, "Birds of a feather and all that." David punched Steve's shoulder, drawing a mock look of adoration from his victim. Steve walked away from the lockers, turned to face them and said in a loud voice, "The King has touched me! I shall be blessed with horniness!" Students milling around the hallway laughed at Steve's announcement, but David just blushed. "Stop it!" he hissed. Steve snickered, "Yes, my king." Kelly stood to the side, watching the inevitable teasing, and grinning at his boyfriend's predicament. Whenever David would glance to him for help, he just grinned and shrugged. David was on his own. Steve returned to his place beside David against the locker, "So, is it true?" "What do you think?" David asked with a grin. "I think, you're a horn dog. But who wouldn't be with her?" Steve nodded to where Sally was walking with a group of her friends. One of the girls looked in their direction and whispered something to the group, sending them into giggles. She gave a little wave to David, who blushed, and continued walking. "Oh ho!" Sean exclaimed, "Dave, you're gonna have 'em all over you." "Just what I need," David replied glancing at his silent boyfriend, and getting a small smile. "Hey man, every guy needs a harem," Sean said. "Just send the extras to us." "And, I think Suzy's gonna be the first in a long line, Dave," Jim said patting David on the back. "That wave really meant, 'I want you.'" "Oh man," David groaned, but smiled. "Just don't move too fast there, stud," Sean grinned. "Yeah, keep it all tucked away for at least a month or two," Steve chimed in. David looked over to Kelly, who was nodding, "So that's what you think too?" Time for paybacks. Trapped, Kelly could only nod his agreement, caught up in the teasing. "Ok, then, it's settled," David stated, grinning at Kelly, "Little Dave doesn't come out for anyone." "At least without a pair of tweezers," Steve laughed. David laughed inwardly at Kelly's discomfort. He raised an eyebrow in his direction, then the bell rang and they were off to home room. The day passed quickly, David catching the attention of a few more people than usual, which made him a little uncomfortable, but felt sort of good at the same time. He and Kelly were standing at his locker after the last class of Driver's Ed, when Kelly looked around and asked, "Umm, were you serious?" "What do you think?" "I hope not, you WERE teasing right?" "You goof...c'mon Kel, you know me better than that." "Well, it was weird, Dave. It was really like you meant it." "I did, sorta," David grinned. "But they're exceptions to every rule." Kelly smiled and glanced around the departing students, "You seem to have an admirer." David followed Kelly's glance and saw Suzy standing with another friend across the hall. She smiled at him shyly and gave a little wave. David blushed, making Kelly giggle a little, and waved back. "That's so cuuuute," he teased. "You think that two days after I 'get dumped,' I'm gonna ask some other girl to go with me?" "Well, you ARE the stud," Kelly laughed. "And she's sorta cute." "Are you trying to get rid of me?" "Nope, but you must think so too, since you're still staring." "Damn," David exclaimed softly, turning back to look at Kelly's grinning face. "See?" "Well, if you think she's so cute, why don't you ask her?" David challenged. "I just might," answered Kelly. "What?" "Yeah, after all, it wouldn't look good, since you just 'got dumped.'" "You wouldn't dare." "Watch me," Kelly answered, walking toward the two girls across the hall. David watched in disbelief as his boyfriend talked to the two girls, once in a while glancing back over to David. He saw the girls smile and nod, then start whispering to each other as Kelly sauntered back. "Well?" David asked. "Well, what?" "Did you?" "Did I what?" David heaved a sigh, and leaned heavily back against the lockers. Kelly grinned and then said, "Hey we gotta go, our busses are here." "You really need to tell me." David argued. "Tell you what?" Kelly laughed. "Dammit, Kel, you're really starting to piss me off." "Better than being pissed on," Kelly answered, breaking away to head for his bus. "I'll call ya tonight." David shook his head, and climbed on the bus for the ride home. He couldn't really be mad at Kelly, but his boyfriend sure knew how to push his buttons sometimes. He rode home silently, lost in thoughts of a suitable revenge. His distraction lasted until the phone rang later that evening. "Hey stud," came Kelly's voice. "Ok, spill it," David demanded. "Aww, I don't even get a hi?" "Hi. Now spill it." Kelly laughed on the other end, then said, "Man, don't sweat it. Do you really think I would do that to you?" "Well, I wouldn't think so." "I just told Suzy and Brenda, that's the other one's name, that you were interested, but wanted to wait for a while." "You did what?" "You know, if you'd pick your ears and not your nose, you could hear better," Kelly teased. "Ha ha, funny, funny," David answered. "Well, Suzy said she understood, and that she liked you and all. And then Brenda...." David raised his eyebrows, "Brenda, what?" "Nothing." David chuckled, "C'mon Kel, spill it." "Never mind," Kelly answered. "Did you get the last problem in Geometry?" "Kel, you suck at changing subjects, we didn't HAVE any Geometry homework." "Oh, well, ummm anyway, whatcha doin?" Grinning at his boyfriend's discomfiture, he replied, "Looking up Brenda's phone number so I can give her yours." "Don't you even think about it." "Why not? You and Polly have been broken up for months. Now's the time, man." "No way. Please don't," Kelly half-whined. "Don't worry, I was just teasing. Anyway, it's almost time for vacation. What, a month?" "Yeah, something like that. Hey, remember, we have 'on-the-road' tomorrow." "Oh, yeah. Almost forgot," David answered enthusiastically. "Can't wait to get the Queen Mary on the road." Kelly laughed, "Yeah, I guess not. Sorta scary though." "Ya big baby," David snorted. "How we ever gonna go parking if you don't get your license?" "Ummm, well, you can drive." "It's no big deal, Kel. It'll be fun." David could never understand Kelly's reluctance behind the wheel. It was just, well, weird. "Yeah, whatever," Kelly answered. "Hey, I gotta go. Got to finish that Geometry homework. Bye." He laughed then hung up before David could say a word. David hung up the phone, heading back toward his bedroom, only to be stopped by his mother. "David, I heard you talking about going parking. If that's all you're getting your license for, then you've got another think coming." "Jeez mom, I was just teasing Kelly. And anyway, not planning on parking with a girl for a long time." "Well, you better hadn't, it's not respectful." "I know mom," David responded exasperated. "Just so we have that straight," she finished. "We do. No sweat, ok?" David smiled. "Ok, I trust you David, don't let me down." "I won't mom. Promise." "Okay, now get back to whatever you were doing," she smiled back. David retreated back to his bedroom, closing the door. He laid on his bed and grinned. Well, he didn't lie to her. She always seemed to catch him when he did. He WASN'T planning on going parking with a girl for a long time. His boyfriend might be another story, but she didn't need to know that. He and Kelly had talked about this a lot. They couldn't go to the bird sanctuary, that was for 'normal' couples. They'd have to drive around and find somewhere very private. If they got caught, it would all be ruined. Neither one of them wanted that, or anything close to it. He was still thinking about all this when he heard the phone ring. Then Lynn was knocking at his door. "David, it's for you. It's some giiiiiiiiiiiiirl." David shook himself out of his reverie. "Some girl?" The only girl that had his phone number was Sally, and he didn't think she'd be calling him right now. Confused, he answered the phone, "Hello, this is Dave." "Ummm, hi." "Hi," David answered, still totally confused. "Who is this?" His question was answered by the dial tone. Shaking his head, he hung up and went back to his room. One thing he did know was that whoever it was, they were just as shy as him. ***************************************************************************** LOL, yes, it actually happened.
