It's not a New Year's resolution, I always break those, just a personal goal. Take care, and be safe. Fup FROM CHAPTER 60 "Oh good, that means I can return your present, huh?" "Not quite. I know you spent hours and hours trying to find the perfect gift for me." "Oh, absolutely. It was hard to find that big of a cork." Lynn snorted. "Well, it's the thought that counts." David grinned. He was glad his sister had turned into someone like this. He guessed if she could do it, his parents could too. David gave a mental shrug. Maybe it was going to be okay. He had three weeks to find out. LIFE GOES ON - DAVID AND CHAD #61 - On The First Day of Christmas... David stretched and groaned softly. It was no wonder stretches started hurting after a while, he thought. Otherwise he could stretch all day. Too much of a good thing, he guessed. He relaxed back into his bed, hands clasped behind his head. It was...the 27th, yeah that was it. He'd been home almost a week and, so far, it had actually been pleasant. Christmas day was as hectic as he remembered. His family opened their gifts first in the morning, then got dressed and headed to his grandparents' for dinner and more gift opening. As in previous years, his aunt, uncle and two cousins had come for dinner as well. He chuckled as he remembered the complaints of his cousins when told they'd have to wait until the dishes were done to open gifts. And of course, washing the dishes took a long time, or seemed to. He spent the time observing his parents. Everything seemed to be fine. There were a few times when he saw either his father or mother catch themselves before saying something that would have been mean. Maybe this was going to work. His grandmother also kept a wary eye on them as well, interrupting when she felt there was going to be a relapse. David didn't think anyone else noted the 'battles', but they weren't looking for them. After gifts had been opened at Nanny's, deserts devoured, and social obligations filled, the Barker's loaded up the car and went to see his other grandfather - his dad's dad. As always it seemed strange not to have Granma around, but still enjoyable. It was long past dark before they arrived back home, and he went straight to bed, exhausted with all the running around. The day after the holiday was spent cleaning up the paper and ribbon discarded during the mad rush to open presents, straightening up under the tree, and relaxing. His parents returned to work tomorrow for three days then had another long weekend for the New Year's holiday. David smiled - perfect. His bladder made itself known then, and he slid out of bed, adjusting his piss hard to a less conspicuous position and made his way to the bathroom, the smells of breakfast making his stomach rumble. He washed his hands, slipped into a pair of jeans and wandered into the kitchen. "Smells good, Mom." She turned and smiled. "It's just bacon and eggs, David." "Yeah, but after what they call bacon and eggs at school, it smells fantastic," David laughed. "Well, since it's Sunday, I thought maybe a good breakfast would do you good." "Where's Dad and Lynn?" "They went over to your grandfather's to visit for a while." "Oh, that's cool." "When do you go back?" "A couple of weeks. Then finals," David groused. "I don't know how they expect kids to do well on tests after the holiday." "Guess they figure it's better than before." His mother nodded and slid a plate in front of David. "Dig in, plenty more where that came from." David did as he was told, savoring home-cooked food again. He washed it down with two glasses of milk and put the plate, glass and silverware in the sink. "So what are your plans today?" she asked. "I dunno, may drive around for a bit. See some friends." "Well, have fun. I think I'll slip up to Mother's later this morning." "Cool, I'll probably go up again before the week's over. Catch up on happenings without everyone there." His mother chuckled. "It's kind of hard to talk with everybody there, isn't it?" "Big time," David agreed, then walked back toward his bedroom. He 'college-made' his bed, just pulling the blankets and bedspread up, and went to take a shower. Morning ablutions complete, he got dressed and read for a while. After an hour or two, he heard his mother yell her goodbyes and leave the house. David laid there, enjoying the peace and quiet, then got up and grabbed his coat and car keys. He figured he'd go see the Sites' and maybe one or two of his friends, then stop by Chad's and give him his present. An hour later, he was on his way to Chad's. Guess everyone was out and about, he thought. Maybe he ought to call before going to the Murrays'. Nah, he'd live dangerously and take his chances. Pulling into the driveway, he was disappointed again. Not a single vehicle in the driveway. David chuckled and shook his head. So much for living dangerously. Driving back home, he was surprised at the amount of disappointment he felt. He'd been home five or six days, and hadn't seen or talked to his blond boyfriend. The bustle of the holiday had alleviated some of that at the beginning, but now it was different. David sighed and pulled into his own driveway. The phone was ringing as he hurried to unlock the door. Leaving the keys in the lock, he picked up the receiver. "Hello?" "Hey Dave." It was Lynn. "Hey, what's up?" "Glad to see you finally woke up." "Yeah well, you know, college kids are lazy." "Uh huh, hey listen, Chad called and said he'd call you later." "When?" "While you were still in bed, weenie." "Oh, cool, I just went out there and no one was home." "Well, I'm not your secretary," Lynn laughed. "Okay, I get it. Thanks." "No sweat, we're getting ready to leave, and Dad wants to go to Richard's, so he's bringing me home." "Okay, should I put that down on your desk calendar?" "Shut up." David chuckled. "Okay, see ya in a little." "For a little." "Huh?" "Going over to Jay's." "Oooooh, gonna exchange gifts?" "Shut up." "Okay, see ya in a little for a little. Bye." Well, that wasn't so bad, David thought as he replaced the receiver. He was heading back the hallway when the phone rang again. He turned back and picked up the receiver again. "Yes, Lynn, what now?" "Lynn?" "Hey, what's up?" "Nothin', how come you left?" Chad asked. "Huh?" Chad laughed. "I was home. I heard you pull in, but you were down the driveway before I got outside. Then your phone was busy. Did you have a good Christmas? Wait til ya see what all I got." "Ahhh, slow down, kiddo. You make me want to go back to bed." "What?" "Nothin'," David laughed. "Just you being you." "Oh, okay, so ya comin' back over?" "Well, I dunno. Kinda hate to waste the gas, ya know?" "You're teasing." "Sure?" "Well, if you don't come over, you won't get your present." "Oh? And what may that be?" "Get your mind out of the gutter, Dave. I have a real present for you." "That's funny, I have one or two for you too." "Okay, see ya in a little bit." Then the dial tone was buzzing in David's ear. David shook his head as he hung up the receiver. Some things never changed. He went back to his room and retrieved Chad's gift, slipped back into his coat, and was walking out to his car when his father and sister pulled in. After a hurried greeting from his sister, his father rolled down the window and asked, "Did you want to come along to Richard's with me?" David held out the gift. "Kinda already made plans to deliver this." "Okay, thought I'd ask. Don't be too late." David bit off the response on the tip of his tongue. "Okay, no sweat, see ya when I get home, or you do. Tell Richard I said hey." "Okay David," his father replied, reversing out of the driveway. He was barely out of the driveway when Lynn came back out of the house, waved and got into her own car. David chuckled wondering what she got Jay for Christmas. "Or gave him," he said to himself. He'd have to tease her about that. David was barely up to the house before Chad was opening the door and standing on the porch. His boyfriend's grin was infectious and David's grin matched Chad's as he got out of the car. "Hey kiddo, Merry Christmas." "Yeah, Merry Christmas, Dave, c'mon in." David followed Chad inside, gift in hand. The Murrays obviously thought Christmas was a big deal too from the decorations he saw. "Wow, kiddo, must have taken you forever to put all this stuff up." Chad snorted. "Yeah, right, I don't 'do it right', so Mom and Dad do it." "Well, they do a cool job." Chad flopped on the sofa next to the tree and patted the cushion beside him. "C'mon, sit." "If you insist," David smiled, settling down beside the blond teen. Chad reached for David's arm and pulled it across his shoulders. He snuggled into David's side, intertwining his fingers with David's. "Miss me?" David asked rhetorically. "Mmmhmm." "It's only been three weeks," David teased. He felt Chad shrug and tightened his arm over the teen's shoulders. "Well, missed you too." Chad's other hand came to rest on David's thigh, rubbing slightly. "Uh kiddo, if you keep doing that, we'll never get to your present." He felt Chad shrug again as he lowered his head to David's shoulder. David rubbed his cheek against Chad's hair and smiled. This he could live with. Chad kept his hand on David's thigh, but it was enough to arouse him to a full blown erection. He used his other hand to adjust his crotch, causing Chad to chuckle softly and squeeze his thigh. "Anyone home?" David whispered. Chad shook his head slightly. David shifted slightly and kissed the top of Chad's head. The teen lifted his head from David's shoulder and smiled. That did it for David. He turned sideways, pulling Chad into a strong embrace. Chad relaxed into the hug, rubbing his cheek against David's. "Ow, that hurts," his boyfriend complained, pulling back slightly. David chuckled. "Trying to grow a beard. It's like the 'in' thing at school." "Oh, well it hurts." "Sorry, here, I'll make it feel better," David replied, planting a kiss on Chad's cheek. "Better?" Chad grinned and pressed his lips against David's cheek. "Ow," he whispered. "Oh, so that's the way it is, huh?" David put his hands on Chad's shoulders and guided the teen until he was on his back on the sofa, his head resting on the armrest. He looked into Chad's face, watching as the teen closed his eyes, then lowered his face to Chad's. As their lips met, Chad's arms wrapped across David's back, pulling him deeper into the kiss. Their tongues gently explored the wet warmth of the other's mouth. David slowly lowered himself onto the prone body beneath him, Chad shifting into a more comfortable position. David's left hand ran through the blond mop on his boyfriend's head, the other slipping between their bodies to cup Chad's erection. Chad's arms tightened as David fondled him through the denim of his jeans. After a few more minutes, David pulled his lips from Chad's and smiled. The teen slitted his eyes open and asked softly, "Why'd ya quit?" "We need to breathe sometime." Chad pressed his crotch into David's hand and grinned. "Now look what you did." "Aww, poor Chad," David smiled back, rubbing the ridge of hard flesh under the zipper of the jeans. "Yeah, I guess," Chad breathed, shifting his hips under David's ministrations. "How long we got?" David asked. "Mom will be back soon," Chad answered, a hint of disappointment in his voice. David sat up, removing his hand from Chad's crotch and pulled the blond teenager to a sitting position. Chad wiped the saliva off his lips and chin and stared at David. "What?" David asked, eyebrows furrowed slightly. Chad shrugged and grinned, placing his hand on David's erection and squeezing gently. "See what ya did?" David echoed. "I missed you," was Chad's only answer. "Jeez, kiddo, me too. Listen, Mom and Dad work tomorrow and Lynn's going visiting. Wanna come over?" "Yeah, that'd be cool. I'll ask when Mom gets home." "We'd have more time." "Yeah." "I just worry about getting caught, that's all." "You worry too much," Chad chuckled, his hand still rubbing David's erection. "I just don't wanna mess this up." "You won't. Want your present now?" "Already got it," David grinned. "Not that one, the other one." "Sure." Chad smiled, gave David a light kiss and retrieved a gift from under the tree. "Here ya go, sorry it's not much." "Hey, remember, I've got what I want." Chad smiled dubiously and asked, "Gonna open it?" "Not til you open yours." Chad sighed and took the offered package. "Same time?" David nodded and counted to three. On three, both tore into the wrapping paper of their respective gifts. Chad had gotten him a new cassette case and a gift certificate from Carbaugh's restaurant. "That's so you can take me to breakfast," Chad laughed. "Thanks kiddo, I needed a new case and any time for breakfast." David grinned as Chad opened his box. "Underwear?" Chad asked. "There's some more stuff." "Yeah, but underwear?" David laughed. "Sure, I know how much you like to get underwear at Christmas." "How did you know what size?" "Duh," David grinned. "Umm, oh yeah," Chad answered, face tinged crimson. "Pink Floyd?" "Yup, time to expand your horizons again," David chuckled. "Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall," Chad read. "Yeah, sorry one's cassette and one's an album." "S'okay. That's cool. Thanks." "No sweat, kiddo. I think you'll like 'em." "The albums or underwear?" Chad laughed. "The music, I'll be the one who likes the undies." Chad flushed a deeper red. David chuckled and pulled Chad into another hug, running his hands up and down the teen's back, then under his shirt, caressing the warm flesh. Chad returned the hug and whispered, "Love you, Dave." "Love you too, Chad. Been looking forward to coming home." Their lips met again in a deep kiss that was interrupted by the sound of tires on gravel. Chad jerked away from David and slid over to the side of the sofa away from David. "Mom," he said needlessly. "It's cool. We were just exchanging presents." "Yeah, I know," Chad said, getting off the sofa and kneeling at the tree, putting the pack of briefs into another box under the tree. "Wanna see what else I got?" At David's nod, Chad began showing the other gifts he received. They were still in that position, David on the sofa and Chad on the floor, when Mrs. Murray walked in. "Hello David, and Merry Christmas," she smiled, walking into the living room. "Hi, and the same to you. Thought I'd come over and give Chad his present." "Well, I hope he gave you yours." "Yeah, he's kind of absentminded," David laughed. "But he remembered this time." "Well, good," Karen laughed. "And how was your Christmas?" "Pretty good actually, no major problems." "Well, that's good to hear, David." "Hey Mom, Dave wants to know if I can go over tomorrow." "After your chores, I suppose you can for a while. But remember, we're getting company tomorrow night. You'll need to be home by five at the latest." "Do I HAVE to be here for the Thomas'? You know I don't like Brad," Chad complained. "Yes, young man, you do. If you're not willing to suffer a little bit then I guess you can't go to Dave's tomorrow," Karen stated firmly. Chad's shoulders dropped. "Okay, but jeez, he's a...." "Don't say it, Chad, or you'll be grounded until school starts." "Okay, sorry," Chad mumbled. Karen directed her attention toward David, motioning at her youngest. "He and Brad don't play well together. Isn't that how you put it?" "Yeah," David smiled. "Well, I'll leave you two to yourselves while I get dinner ready. Are you staying David?" "No, I don't think so, but thanks. I'd better get home soon." "You're welcome. The offer's open though while you're home." "Well, I'll probably take you up on it while I'm back," David grinned. "How could I resist your cooking?" Karen rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "You can pick him up around 11 tomorrow, David." "Sounds good. And I'll drop him off in plenty of time for him to play with Brad," David chuckled. "Shut up, Dave. Let's play this stuff," Chad was holding the 'Dark Side of the Moon.' "Sure, I love broadening your horizons," David laughed, following Chad up the stairs. "Man, I can't stand that asshole," Chad complained as he slipped the cassette into the stereo in his room. "You shouldn't talk about your mom that way," David laughed. Chad hit 'Play' and turned the volume up slightly before turning around. "You're a goof." "Well, at least I'm not a goob like you," David responded, leaning against the wall next to the door. "Whatever," Chad snorted then walked toward David, closing the door. "Mom doesn't like my music," he explained. David laughed. "Don't feel bad. Mom and Dad are country fans." "Yeah, mine too. So, ummm..." David smiled and gathered the boy in his arms. "So, ummm, what?" "Wanna sit and listen?" "Sure, but I seem to have my hands full at the moment." Chad pulled away from the embrace and took David's hand. They sat down on the floor, David's back against the bed and Chad between his legs, leaning back against him. Wrapping his arms around his boyfriend's waist, David nuzzled Chad's neck. Chad shuddered slightly, relaxing into the embrace and giggling softly. "What?" "Your whiskers tickle," Chad mock-complained. "Poor baby." David nuzzled the warm neck again, rubbing his cheek along the side of Chad's neck, causing the teen to shudder again. He ran his hands under the hem of Chad's shirt, caressing the boy's chest and gently tweaking his hard nipples. Chad groaned softly and leaned his head back onto David's shoulder, eyes closed. David glanced down, smiling at the bulge in the crotch of Chad's jeans. "Feels good, huh?" Chad nodded and asked, "So is anyone gonna be home tomorrow?" "Nope, just you and me." Chad nodded. "Good." "You know, I like this," David stated. "I can tell by that thing poking me in the back," Chad whispered, shifting so that his back rubbed David's matching hardon. David dropped one hand to Chad's erection and began rubbing it through the jeans. Chad gasped slightly and said, "Stop. Mom's downstairs." The older youth lowered his lips to Chad's and kissed him briefly, but deeply. David slid his hand back to the teen's chest, resuming his earlier actions. Chad's smooth skin was warm, almost hot to the touch, and the boy sucked in a breath every time David's fingers and palms rubbed across the hard nubs on his chest. Chad grunted in disappointment when David removed his hands and prodded the teen to stand up. "We'd better cool it kiddo. Plenty of time tomorrow." Chad sighed, "Okay, I was just getting into it too." David laughed and pulled Chad into another loose embrace. "You were into it when I cam through the door." Chad grinned and shrugged. "Yeah, well, it's hard only seeing you every few weeks." David cupped Chad's crotch again. "Yeah, it's hard." Chad snorted and grabbed David's hand, placing it on his shoulder. He lifted slightly and gave David a kiss on the lips, then slipped out of the surrounding arms. David grinned as Chad adjusted himself then sat on the bed. "Guess you're gonna go soon, huh?" "Yeah, I should. It's been pretty good at home so far and I don't wanna screw it up." "That's cool. I mean about being good, not about leaving," Chad smiled. David wryly made his own adjustments, straightening his clothing and put his hand on the doorknob. "Well, kiddo, guess I'll see ya tomorrow." "Yeah, you'll be here at 11?" "Yep, and thanks for the presents, man." "Thanks too," Chad replied. "Ummm, I'm gonna stay up here for a little, okay?" David grinned. "Still feeling the effects?" Chad lifted up his shirt. "Yeah." "Okay, Chad, I'll see ya tomorrow. Love you." "Me too, Dave. See ya." David nodded and walked downstairs. "Hey, thanks for the offer again, Karen." "Any time, David. Did Chad do okay with his gifts? He hounded Matt and I to take him to the mall so he could buy them himself," she laughed. "He did great," David assured her. "Good, and I assume the noise from his room is your doing?" David started, then realized she was talking about the music. "Yeah, sorry." "Well, we don't expect our kids to listen to the same thing we do. They have their own tastes. As long as he doesn't play it loud enough to disturb us, it's okay." "Well, it's nothing too bad. My parents actually can tolerate Pink Floyd." "Pink Floyd?" Karen asked, then shook her head. "You kids." David laughed. "Yeah the new generation." "Us old people are doomed," Karen said with a grin. "You should read some of the lyrics to that," David said. "They're pretty good." "I'll take your word for it. As long as the kid doesn't turn into an axe murderer, it's fine." David laughed again, pulling on his coat. "I don't think you'll have to worry about that, Karen. He's got a pretty good head on his shoulders." "Matt and I just wish he would use it more," Karen chuckled. "Well, he's 16, they're supposed to act that way." "Well, he's pretty good at it," Karen retorted. "Yeah, he is," David agreed. "He plays dumb pretty good." "He sure does. David, I'm glad things seem to be doing better at your house. I worry sometimes." "Thanks, but it's cool so far, and I guess I can handle it if it turns out otherwise." Karen nodded. "I'll make sure he's ready by 11, David." "Sounds good, thanks." "Thank you for hanging around with the brat. You're almost all he talks about. David this, David that," she chuckled. "Well, at least I have one fan." "That's guaranteed," she answered. "Okay, well, thanks again, and I'll let ya know when I can come over for a good meal." "That's fine, David. We won't be around for New Year's Eve, so that's out." David nodded. "Okay, maybe sometime after that." "Just let us know. Tell your parents we wish them a Merry Christmas." "I will, Karen, thanks. See you later." "Bye David." David left the house, glancing up at Chad's window. The teen was standing in the window and waved. David returned the wave and climbed into his car, turned around and headed back toward home.
