His mother had given him the pen before she left to the peace corps. He used it as much as he could and it luckily had the ability to insert refills when it went dry. He had mastered using it like an ordinary pen and didn't have to be careful on how to handle it anymore. He was quite proud. But he had something on his mind now and wasn't just drawing or writing for fun this time. He was trying to pass the time as quickly as possible. He wanted to talk to Aaron desperately now. The scene in front of his house was cherished in the deepest chamber of his heart but he knew many more would soon be roommates with that memory. At least he hoped. He had so many questions that needed answering but didn't want to go over too early or too late. He didn't know what to do. Aaron hadn't given him a time. Perhaps he wasn't thinking then. In the end though, he decided to leave, before dark at around 4 PM. That would leave plenty of time for talking and whatever else came. The wait was excruciating for Kevin. He tried going to sleep but the anticipation kept him awake. He was unusually hyper and couldn't do anything without getting sidetracked. The time finally came though, and he walked to the door. "Where do you think your going in such a hurry," called his father from the other room, apparently seeing him cross the doorway. "Well, um, I met a new person today and he said I could stop by to play some games if I wanted to. Um, could I," he said almost pleading. His father, Brandon was his name, put a thoughtful finger on his chin. "I guess so," he said with a smile. "Yesss," Kevin hissed as he rushed out the door. He didn't have a bike. So he was hoofing it on the dirt path he used as a shortcut to school. He remembered exactly where Aaron lived. He would never forget that. So he trudged along, and with burst of energy, ran. He made it there in about 5 minutes and knocked hard on the door. First try, Aaron answered. He looked stressed like he was waiting impatiently for the visit also, but tried hard not to show it. He let Kevin in and greeted him by telling him to follow up to his room. He did and they were ascending the stairs when Aaron's mom called out. "Who's there Aaron?" "Just a friend mom, we're going to go play some games in my room, is that all right?" "Oh, sure honey, dinner will be ready in an hour if your friend would like to stay for it." He looked over at Kevin and got a nod in response to the question. "He'd love to," and with that they padded up the stairs to the 2nd master bedroom. Aaron was an only child so he got the master bedroom upstairs while his mother got the master bedroom downstairs. The downstairs bedroom was used for storage and the upstairs, for a guest room. Aaron opened the door and revealed and semi-tidy room with a bed below the window and a computer to the right. A Playstation 2 was attached to a small TV on the left sitting on a dresser with a few objects scattered around. It was a nice bedroom with lots of space, albeit the double bed. They walked in casually, Aaron sitting on the bed and Kevin in the computer chair. "So what do you want to do," asked Aaron. "I thought we could talk some, actually," replied Kevin. "All right." There was a silence for a few seconds that was quite awkward as the request to talk was made. "Um. Well. Okay, so I don't know what to say," Kevin managed to jumble out. Aaron just chuckled and laid back on the bed, staring at the ceiling above. He sighed and after a minute, got up put his hands on Kevin's shoulders. "I admit I was dying, waiting for your visit and now that your here, and I'm assuming you were waiting to come also, we have nothing to say." Kevin blushed at the truth that was said but couldn't look away from the glistening hazel eyes that were on him. Then he realized that Aaron had tears in his eyes. He thought he must look like an idiot just sitting there as a support beam for Aaron's arms while he's crying for some unknown reason. "I'm-- I'm sorry, I've never felt this way. I've never known someone the same as me. I feel so content with you here. Just sitting here, in my room, with me." It was a heavy statement. Kevin was speechless. Then he felt warm lips upon his. It lasted for about 15 seconds but didn't stop, Aaron was then trying to slip his tongue into Kevin's mouth. He allowed it and experienced the most exhilarating moment of his 14 year old life. They went at it for what seemed like eternity to them and it was heaven. Neither or them wanted to end that perfect kiss but. Aaron seemed better at it, tonguing his professionally. Little moans escaped from Kevin when they moved. They were both enjoying it immensely but they were running out of air. Aaron slowly pulled his tongue out of Kevin's warm mouth and drew his face away, gazing into his partner's eyes. "Kevin, I think I'm already falling in love with you and I don't even really know you yet." He was still speechless but managed to utter quietly, into his friend's ear, "It's okay, I love you too, don't be ashamed of it." They fell into each other's arms and cried because they were so happy. It wasn't a Christmas Morning happy either, it was a happiness you can only get when you truly experience your first kiss and first fall in love with another. It doesn't matter if you are straight, bisexual or gay. You get it when you find your soul mate, and you know you will never be apart again. As they broke apart, and dried their tears, Kevin said, "please promise me that you will never leave me, you must know how hard it is to live without help from someone else, but-- but, well, I've been having thoughts of..." He didn't need to finish, Aaron knew what he was going to say and broke in with the words, "I will never leave you, I promise. We will make it through this and show them all that we cannot be brought down by their violent actions." "Thank you, thank you, thank you," cried Kevin as he hurled himself against Aaron, causing them to fall onto his bed. "I'm so happy right now, I wish this would never end," Aaron whispered after catching his breath. "Me too, Aaron, me too." They fell asleep like that, in each other's arms on Aaron's bed. They were both at peace now and dreaming. Ten minutes passed, then twenty and finally after thirty minutes, Kevin woke up. He woke up and couldn't believe it really happened. That he had really met another person who he could relate to and share things with. Secrets even, someone who would listen to him and be there for him. As he tried to remove his arms from Aaron, he woke him. He quickly apologized but only a drowsy, smiling face looked back. As he slowly woke up, he was smiling even more. They didn't 'talk' any more. Aaron gestured to a blank area of carpet beside him and turned on his Playstation 2. They sat there for the rest of the time until dinner and then enjoyed some of Aaron's mother's fine cooking. After dinner, Kevin gave Aaron a goodbye hug and walked slowly out the door. Leaving him no longer caused and sadness because he knew he would see him again. They would be friends for a long time. He smiled at that though and walked home.
