He stripped to his boxers and literally hopped into bed. He drew up the warm covers and fell asleep thinking of his newfound friend. He awoke to the sound of the phone in his room ringing. He thought to himself, who could be calling now? He looked at the clock before picking it up, though. Seeing the 11:45 in bright red lettering almost made him jump out of his skin. Not only had he slept in, but he missed the first half of school. His dad must have thought he was just going to be a little late, and just went to work without even thinking about it. He picked up the cordless phone, hit the talk button and said 'hello' in the best voice he could for someone who just woke up a few seconds ago. "Hey man why aren't you in school." It was Aaron. "Arrghh," he grunted in a pirate-like voice, "I slept in and my dad didn't check to see if I was up or not." "Oh, I see. I suppose you aren't going to come then are you." "No, I guess not, I've probably missed all the excitement already," he replied with a slight smile on his face. "Surprisingly, I was able to dodge most people who gave me trouble," but then his voice suddenly changed, "I missed you man. It would have been a lot easier if you were here with me." Kevin didn't expect that. He took a step back and a tear rolled down a cheek. He sniffed into the receiver. "Well, I, um. I'm really sorry man. Come on over after school, okay?" "Yeah, okay," then suddenly his tone perked up, "I guess I'll see you then, buddy! Love you." Kevin nearly fell over on that. But before he could respond or even get situated he heard a click. Aaron hung up. He supposed it was better that way though. The day went by very slow and seemed like school would never end. Kevin just wanted to be in Aaron's arms again. It seemed like Aaron was the only one holding him up from falling into death's own grip. The longing, and deep feeling of missing something sunk in again, and Kevin slunk down on the couch, staring at the TV. It wasn't on though. His mind began to wander. "Why," he asked himself. "Why do I love him so much." It was a big question. But he knew the answer. It wasn't that he had never been with anyone and he would take the first person he saw. Oh no, he loved this boy with all his heart. He was Kevin's soulmate. He knew it from the first time he saw him standing there in class. It was no wonder he got so emotional when he couldn't be with him. But, it would pass. He knew it would. "And soon," he said to himself, "all my problems will get better, too. In 3 years we will both graduate. We wont have to put up with the constant bullying of the heartless kids." But was it true. That's what stuck at him. Would all the torment stop after he gets away from that high school. He didn't know. He didn't know and preferably didn't want to know right then. He laid back on the soft cushioning and fell asleep. Dreamland approached. He saw beautiful bright white clouds floating past. He stood on a white marble road. There was noting around him. It was only the road. The surroundings were completely white. It was an endless void. An angel dressed in tattered white clothes approached him. It's wings were enormous and they drooped slightly. The man attached to the wings was about 6'5 and had long, wavy light brown hair that went down to his waist. Words could not describe the beautiful scene. The angel finally was standing face to face with Kevin. He had to look up to see the angel in the eyes. They were a dark blue with swirls of a lighter blue mixed in. His face was enough to make a straight man lust. But just as he was about to speak, he felt someone shaking him. The ground he was standing on turned to flames as he fell back to reality to find Aaron shaking him awake. "Well hello there sleepy head. The door was unlocked so I decided to let myself in when you didn't answer." "Oh. Hi. I was having the most beautiful dream," said Kevin sleepily. "Is that so. It wasn't about me was it," Aaron replied jokingly. "It might have been. Your beautiful enough to have been the angel in it." "Is that so?" "It is." Kevin slowly rose to his feet and hugged Aaron for a long time. They shared a short kiss and walked to the kitchen to make a snack. Not much was bothering Kevin now though. The dream added something to him. A certain strength that could brave any bully that came his way. It was called love and he hoped he never lost it.
