Amanda said as she looked around the crowd, "He hasn't answered any of my text. He always answers my texts," Gavin was starting to panic and he didn't think Amanda understood. "I'm sure he's fine, he's just running a little late that's all." She said while scoping out for a potential date. "He is never late and he would let me know if something happened." "I think you're overreacting a little. Crap! He comes Tim." Tim walked through the crowd heading right for Gavin. "Well I see fairy number one but not number two," drawled Tim. "That mask is so ugly, where did you find it? Oh sorry that's your face, my bad." Gavin shot back. The students that were close to them started to laugh. Amanda leaned towards Gavin and whispered, "That was so the lamest joke ever." Tim lumbered back through the crowd to find someone else to pick one. He whispered back, "I know. I'm a little stressed okay?" "Stop worrying about Connor. He's fine." She said as she rolled her eyes. "No he is not fine! You don't get it you stupid girl! He always answers my text! Not once has he ever not replied!" The crowd of students closest to Gavin was staring. "You don't have to shout. Now everyone is looking at us." Amanda whined. "I don't care...forget you. I'm going to go look for him." Gavin shoved past students trying to find an exit. "Wait Gavin hold one a second!" Amanda shouted as she started to follow him. Just in time to see him push through the last of the students blocking the door, she hurried after him calling after him. She stopped when he turned around. "What do you want Amanda?" "Where are you going?" "Have you not been listening for the past twenty minutes? I'm going to go look for him." Gavin was close to losing it with her. "Okay, where do we start?" Gavin stared at her before asking, "What?" "What do you mean what?" "You're going to help me? I thought you said he was alright." "Conner is my friend and you do think that something is wrong so let's go look for him." "Okay, well...I think we should split up. You go check around the movies, and then if he isn't there then go to his house." "Sure, but where are you going?" "To a place," Gavin said as he started to run across the school lawn. He knew he couldn't tell her about the place where he and Connor hung-out, they had both promised each other not to tell anyone else. Gavin made it out of the front gates. The hill was about a mile away down Gilbert Lane. Gavin could feel his heart beat rapidly in his chest whether from running or fear that Connor had been hurt, he couldn't tell. His feet pounded the pavement, the sword rhythmically slapping his leg. His phone rang. His phone rang. "Connor! Connor where are you!" "Gavin, it's Lincoln what's wrong?" Damn, I should have checked the caller ID "What? Nothing's wrong, I just thought it was someone else." "Right, so how about you tell me the truth or I can give your mom a call." Lincoln didn't sound like he was joking. "No, no don't do that. I'll tell you, but only when I see you. Can you meet me at Gilbert and Cahill in like ten minutes?" "Gavin what's wrong? Did someone get hurt?" "Okay, I'll be there." Gavin slid his shut as he rounded the corner onto Gilbert Lane. The street was quite. The only sound was Gavin's hard breathing. He saw the hill that overlooked the lake. He slowed down. He wasn't sure if he wanted to go up the hill. He could sense that something was wrong; his stomach felt like a knife was stuck inside it. Images after images flashed through his mind of different ways Connor could be hurt. But it was a long shot that Connor would even show up here. Gavin started to wade through the low bushes that densely covered the hill. He stopped for a second near the top to untangle the sword that was caught on a branch. A low groan came from not too far off. Gavin got himself untangled and pushed through the dense bushes the hid the tree. Sitting slumped against the tree was Connor. Gavin rushed over and saw the bottle of brandy clutched to Connor's chest. Gavin got down on his knees to get a better look and saw that Connor was still breathing. Gavin released a breath he didn't even know he was holding. He started when Connor fell sideways. The bottle slipped out of his hands and landed with a soft thud before rolling away. "Connor, Connor wake up man," Gavin said as a touch of hysteria tinted his voice. Connor let out a low groan. Gavin jumped again as his phone went off. This time he made sure to check the caller ID. "I'm here, where are you?" "I'll be there as soon as I can." "Where are you? I'll come get you." "Start walking up the hill along the path and I will meet you around there." "Okay, I'll be right there." Gavin hung up the phone and sent Amanda a text to let her know he had found Connor and that she could go home. "Connor you need to get up." Gavin said as he tried to get him to sit up. "Fine, I'll carry you but you owe me." Gavin took off his sword and the rest of his costume leaving himself in a black undershirt and the tights. Carefully, he also removed the sword still attached to Connor. How are we going to do this, Gavin thought as he tried to figure out how to get Connor down the hill. He knelt down and pulled Connor onto his back with a small grunt. This close Gavin could smell the strong stench of Brandy that rolled off Connor in waves. "Good thing you're so skinny otherwise this would be really hard. Here we go," he said with a shaky laugh. Gavin pushed Connor into a more comfortable position. Gavin started to trek down the hillside. What the hell happened to you and why are drunk and passed out? He thought as he made his way to the path to meet up with Lincoln. He stepped on a loose rock and stumbled slightly. He quickly regained his balance and tightened his hold on Connor. "What's going on," a small voice whispered in Gavin's ear. "Noth?" Gavin said but was interrupted by the sound of snoring. Great, passed out again! As he moved further down the path, he heard Connor mumble in his sleep. Gavin could only make out a few words like; Devin, ugly, worthless, and hate me. Gavin wasn't sure but he also thought Connor was shaking. "Gavin, Gavin over here." Lincoln was making his way up the path. "What, who is that?" "It's Connor, but something's wrong." "Here let me take him fr?" "No, I've got him. How far is the car?" "A little further down." "Okay," Gavin shifted Connor and started walking. Lincoln fell into step beside Gavin. "What happened to him?" Lincoln asked while glancing at the slumped against Gavin's back. "I don't know, but he's drunk and passed out." Lincoln moved in to get a better look. "Well he is cute, I'll give you that. He smells really bad." "I see the car; we're taking him home with us. Do you think you can grab some coffee in the morning?" "Sure, what would you like?" "I think two caramel macchiato." "Okay, is it for the definite hang-over?" "Yeah, he is sure to have on hell of headache." Gavin stopped once he made it to the car and waited for Lincoln to open the backdoor. Once he got the door open, Gavin bent down to set Connor into the backseat. He felt a sudden thud followed by a groan of pain. "Owe my head, where am I, what's going on?" Connor asked groggily while weakly trying to get away from Gavin. "I'm so sorry Connor. I'm taking you home?" "No! I don't want to go home, I can't go home!" "I meant, I'm taking you to my house." Gavin said as he climbed in to sit next to Connor. "Okay, who are you?" Connor asked sleepily as he stared vacantly ay Gavin. "Connor, it's me Gavin! Lincoln, what's wrong with him?" "He is really drunk, he must've drunk a lot of whatever got him drunk. You're right he is going to have one killer headache in the morning." Lincoln said as he looked into the rearview mirror. "We'll be home in about six minutes." "Okay," Gavin watched Connor stare dazedly out the window swaying back and forth with the movement of the car. What happened to you? Gavin thought. The car was silent except for Connor's quiet mutterings. "We're here, Gavin what are you going to tell your mom?" "Crap, um...that he is really tired and went straight to bed. That should work; I don't want her to meet him like this. "Okay, when you help him out of the car don't hit is head again." Lincoln said with a slight smile. "I won't. It was an accident before..."Gavin sad and blushed unable to finish speaking. Lincoln glanced into the rearview mirror and when he saw that Gavin was upset, he said, "I'm only joking." "I know I'm just freaking out a bit." Gavin turned to Connor, "We're going inside now." "Hmm, okay out we go." Connor pulled on the handle and fell out of the car, "Owe!" Gavin hopped out of the car and rushed to help Connor. He was slumped against the car holding his elbow. "How come I hurt all over?" Connor asked as he looked up at Gavin while nursing his elbow. "I'm not sure, but let's get you inside okay?" Gavin asked as he reached out a hand to help him up. Connor took Gavin's hand and got to his feet. "Okay." Gavin led Connor to the side door. "Wait right here, okay? I'm going to see if my mom's awake." "Okay" Gavin slowly opened the door wincing as it creaked slightly. He quietly looked in to the rooms closest to the kitchen. Not seeing anyone he returned Connor, to find him sitting on the ground looking around. "Here let me help you up." "Gavin, where am I? Why does my head hurt I don't feel good." "You remember who I am?" Gavin asked as he knelt beside Connor. "Yeah, what happened?" Connor mumbled as he held his head in his hands. "Let's talk about it inside okay? It's getting cold out here. "Okay, but where are we?" Connor asked as he tried to stand up but fell backwards. "Here let me help you," he pulled Connor to his feet and held him up. "You're at my house, and you're drunk."Gavin led Connor through the kitchen and up the stairs slowly. "My mom sleeps down stairs. "Um...okay, my head hurts so much." Connor groaned as he began to sway. "Whoa there, my room is right up here." Gavin opened his door and led Connor to the bed. "Here lie down." "Okay," Connor mumbled as he climbed over the covers. "I'll get you some water, be right back." Gavin hurried down the stairs and into the kitchen. He grabbed a glass and filled it with cold water. Well at least he seems a little better, Gavin thought as he climbed back up the stairs. "Here you go," Gavin handed Connor the glass. "Thanks," Connor took the glass with shaky hands and started to drink. "So right now might not be the best time to ask but who is Devin?" Connor choked and spat out some water. "Where did your hear that name?" Connor asked as he stared at the blanket. "You were saying it while I carried you?" "You carried me? Anyway it's not a story you want to hear." Connor refused to meet Gavin's eyes. "You seemed really upset about something, talking about it might help." Gavin knew he was crying and bring pushy but he wanted to know. "It happened a while ago." Connors speech was still slurred a little so Gavin knew he hadn't recovered yet. "In Jr. High, my best friend at the time was Devin. We were always joking around about gay sex stuff. Then, like an idiot I told him I had a...had a...a crush on him." Connor started to shake and tears slid down his face. Sobs raked through his body and Gavin was reminded how small Connor seemed. "A...at first every...everything was f...fine he told me he...he liked me but n...not like that." Connor was curled into a ball, sitting there crying. Gavin had never seen anything so beautiful or so sad; tears fell from Connors eyes like a broken faucet. "T...then one day...a...after school, I was leaving late b...because I had to make–up a test. No...no one was around, but D...Devin was in the hallway and as...as I walked up he...he...he punched me. He...my best friend,....he kept hitting me and hitting me. It hurt so much, but...but worst were the things he was saying to me as he beat me." Gavin wanted Connor to stop, but even though he was sobbing and tears fell he didn't stop. The more Gavin heard the more his heart sank. "As he b...beat me, he called...he called me an ugly faggot." Connor grew shakier but now that he started he couldn't stop. "He told me that I was a worthless fairy and that...that I disgusted him and that he was ashamed for knowing me. I...I was in so much pain. He left me there on the ground, it was horrible but a...a few weeks later...I saw...saw him with this guy and they were...there were kissing. I think I stopped breathing, but...then why would he want the ugly faggot, the worthless little fairy...I...I." Connor fell sideways and cried into the blanket. Gavin stared for a second but then put his hand on Connors back. "Connor everything will be okay, here lets get you cleaned up and you can shower in the morning." Gavin helped Connor up slowly and led him to the bathroom. "Here we go, sit on the toilet right there." Gavin had Connor sit on the toilet and then ran to grab a wash cloth to clean off the dirt. Gavin was running cold water over the washcloth, when suddenly he heard a coughing sound behind him. Connor had his face in the toilet bowl, he was throwing up. Gavin hurried over and knelt beside him. "Let it out Connor, its going to be okay." Gavin said as he held the cold washcloth to his face. "It hurts so much." Connor threw up everything and Gavin held him and held the cold washcloth to his forehead. Gavin felt tears slide down his face. He had finally heard Connor say he was gay, but how anyone could hurt such a beautiful boy. Your not worthless, but you are my fairy, my beautiful fairy. Gavin felt Connors body relax into him. "Okay, time to go to bed." Gavin helped Connor to the bed and took off his shoes. "Here we go, sleep well and I'll see you in the morning." Connor mumbled an answer before pulling the covers up more. Gavin moved to the side and took off his shoes before getting into bed. "Gavin wake up, Gavin your mom wants you, get up." Gavin felt a hand poking his shoulder. "Connor?" "Nope sorry buddy, its Lincoln, your mom wants to see you downstairs." Gavin started to open his eyes, he felt a hand holding his waist. Looking down, he saw that Connor had moved across the bed and was holding him. Connor's head was on Gavin's chest and Gavin had his arms wrapped around Connor. "You guys looked so perfect, oh and I'm leaving to get the coffee soon. Your mom wants you down stairs. Don't keep her waiting okay," Lincoln left Gavin and Connor. Gavin felt warmth blossom in his chest, he felt Connor grip harder and move closer. Gavin let out a sigh as he slowly got out of the bed. He looked back and saw Connor curl up in his spot. Gavin reached over and brushed Connor's hair out of his face. "I'll be back soon, I promise," Gavin quietly slipped out the room. His mom was standing by the stove, mixing pancake batter,. She looked up as he walked in. "I didn't hear you come home last night and you didn't check in or say goodnight. She set the bowl down and moved to the breakfast nook. Gavin sat down too. "So is Connor here?" "Yeah he is still asleep." Gavin thought of Connor curled up in bed and he couldn't help smiling. "You guys didn't do anything last night, right?" She said with a small frown. "What do you mean do anything last night?" "You guys didn't have...well you guys didn't have sex last night did you?" Gavin felt the smile slide from his face. "What!? No, I can't believe that's what you were thinking. What's wrong with you?" Gavin felt his disbelief rise along with his angry flush that was creeping up his neck. "I was just checking, I was worried when you didn't say goodnight or check in." "Again, no we did not have sex. He went through something last night, I don't know what happened but he was not well." Gavin looked down and sighed. "What happened, what do you mean he wasn't well?" Gavin knew his mom would go into the "mom mode". "He was...don't freak out...he got drunk." "Oh my God, is he okay, where is he?" "He, I think he is okay, he's asleep right now. Please don't say anything; I don't know if he will remember what happened last night. I'm going to go back upstairs bow. When Lincoln gets back, can you have him bring the coffee upstairs please?" "Sure sure, do you know what Connor would like for breakfast?" Gavin's mom said as she went back to beating the eggs. "Something light, um maybe some fresh fruit." "Okay, I'll get that ready then." Gavin went back to his mom and gave her a big hug, "You're the best ever, mom." "Thanks sweetie, get back upstairs and check on him." "Okay see you in a bit." Gavin hurried upstairs. Gavin ran up the steps two at a time. As he walked in, he couldn't help but think If he doesn't remember should I tell him what happened last night? Seeing Connor still curled up in his spot, Gavin thought I can't lie to him; he's already gone through so much. Gavin sat on the edge of the bed and watched Connor sleep for a few minutes. "Connor, Connor wake up. It's time to get up." CHAPTER 11 "Connor, can you wake up?" A hand was gently rubbing his shoulder. "I don't want to get up yet Janett. A few more minutes please?" "Connor, it's me, It's Gavin." Connor sat up quickly, but the pounding in his head made him lie back down. "Careful, you had a rough night last night." Connor kept his eyes closed as he thought about last night. He remembered getting in the fight with his dad and then he remembered throwing up. Crap, I thought it was a dream. Did I really tell him about Devin, he thought. Connor slowly opened his eyes to see Gavin sitting next him. He scanned Gavin's for any signs that he was mad. The only thing Connor was able to read was concern. The pounding in his head got worse. "What happened last night?" Connor saw something, fear, anger, sadness cross Gavin's face but it was gone before he could make anything out. "Maybe you should shower first and then we can talk about last night. A shower should make you feel better." "Okay...did um, I do anything wrong or say something stupid?" Connor was hoping to get something about last night; his memory was foggy after the fight with his dad. "I don't think so...well I'll get the shower ready." Gavin got up and walked into the bathroom. It's so hard to think, stupid hangover, if I told him about Devin how come he's being so nice. Well duh, its Gavin he's always nice "I'm going to leave mouthwash on the counter okay?" Gavin said from the bathroom. "Okay." Connor could hear the shower and decided that maybe last night was a dream. But right now a good hot shower sounds great. Gavin reappeared, "I'll get you some boxers too, one sec," he went into his closet and quickly came out with dark blue boxers. "Here you go," Gavin handed Connor the boxers. "Thanks," Connor said as he climbed out of the bed. "Sure, no problem. Go ahead, I'm going downstairs for a minute," Gavin said as he moved towards the door. "And there are towels in the bathroom." "Oh, um okay," Connor mumbled as he slowly walked to the bathroom. "See you in a bit Connor" "Yeah, okay." Gavin left, Connor hovered by the bathroom door, thoughts filling his head. Holy crap, I'm going to be naked in Gavin's house. This is too much. Crap, crap, crap. Connor's head throbbed harder. The sound of the shower helped Connor relax. Looking at himself, he decided that he had better get cleaned up. Connor removed his ripped clothes and shivered as a sense of vulnerability washed over him. He hurried into the show. The hot water erased the stiffness in his back and legs. Gavin's right, this does feel good. Connor let the spray engulf him; the water washed away the fog that had settled into Connor's mind. The events of the previous night flooded him. Connor felt the water turn cold and an icy hand reached into his chest to grab his heart. He remembered the fight, getting drunk and then telling Gavin about Devin. I'll just shower and then leave. Connor thought as he rinsed off. Thoughts kept flashing past and Connor realized that he had cried and not only cried but cried in front of Gavin. Connor all but fell out of the shower trying to hurry. God, I'm such a loser, damn it. Connor wrapped a warm towel around the boxers Gavin had lent him. Connor let some of the warmth try to ease the cold that had crept over him. A knock at the door made Connor jump as the sound interrupted his thoughts. "Hey, sorry to bother you, but I forgot to set out a tooth brush for you. There is an unopened one in the drawer right underneath the sink," Gavin said through the closed door. "Okay, thanks," Connor said, but couldn't help but think, See Connor, he's being too nice, way too nice. Connor found the toothbrush and quickly brushed his teeth and used the mouthwash. As he spat out the mouthwash, panic started to overtake him when he realized that he was going to have to talk to Gavin. He made sure the towel was wrapped tightly around his waist. Even though he was wearing boxers, he didn't want those to be the only thing he had on when he left the bathroom. Taking a deep breath, he slowly opened the door. Gavin was sitting on the bed, on the phone. When he was Connor, Gavin ended the phone call. "Coffee will be here in a bit." "Oh, okay, so should I change in the closet?" "Sure, here are some clothes," Gavin handed Connor beige cargo shorts and a loose black shirt. "Thanks," Connor took the clothes with shaky hands. "No need to thank me, and if you still want to talk about last night, we can." "Oh...um...sure." "Okay" Connor turned to go to the closet, but as he turned around he heard Gavin take a sharp in take of breath and then felt strong hands gripping his shoulders. "What the hell!" Gavin yelled. Connor tried to get away while screaming, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry please don't hit me, I didn't mean to be gay, please don't hurt me!" Connor had backed his way into a corner and was shaking. Gavin looked shocked and was staring at Connor, "Connor, what are you talking about?" "I...I remember everything about last night." "Then tell me how you got that bruise on your side and black." "I..." Connor saw the fight with his dad flash by. "I don't remember but I know I told you about D...Devin and the...the fact that I'm gay. Please don't hurt m...me, I'll leave." Gavin slowly walked to Connor. Connor started to panic. "Connor, do I look mad to you?" Gavin asked as he held his hands open. "N...no, but neither did Devin." "Connor, I'm not mad, I'm actually kinda happy, that you're gay," Gavin placed his hand on Connor's shoulders. "Wait, what do you mean?" "I mean that, I can do this," Gavin lightly pulled Connor closer and let his lips lightly press against Connor's. Connor couldn't understand what was happening. Connor's body started to relax against Gavin and he felt his eyes close. As his body relaxed and he wrapped his arms around Gavin's shoulders, Gavin pressed his lips harder against Connor's and Connor felt Gavin's hands move to his waist. "Gavin, I've got the coffee!" Lincoln said as he opened the bedroom door. Connor's mind was racing, thoughts flashed, feelings flooded his body. He heard Gavin talking but all Connor could hear was the thunderous pounding of his heart which seemed stuck in his throat. Lincoln left shutting the door behind him. "Here you go Connor." Conner felt something warm being pressed into his hand. He held onto it and sudden the world fell silent. "I'm sorry Connor, I shouldn't have done that." Connor looked at Gavin and saw that he looked crestfallen. Thoughts seemed unable to click together. Gavin just...we just...what, why...I...we just kissed...he just kissed me. As this thought settled like a stone in his mind, everything came into sharp relief. Quietly Connor picked up the cargo shorts and slipped them on underneath the towel. "Connor I?" "Wait, just wait a second. Okay Gavin?" Connor said quietly. "Sure." Connor found the black shirt and slipped it on. "You just kissed me. Why did you kiss me Gavin?" "I really like you, but I...I should have asked?" "You like me?" "Of course I like you, there isn't anyone else, there couldn't be anyone else." Gavin said as he slowly moved closer. "What about Sam?" "Sam? What about him?" "Well he is better looking and s?" "Shut up," Gavin cut Connor off. "What?"Connor asked confused. "I said shut up. Sam, Connor you are ten times more attractive and you're funny and smart. Sam is just a shallow prick. Conner, you might have one hell of a temper when someone pushes you, but Sam. Last week he was laughing at a girl who tripped. He called her all kinds of names. I admit has far as looks go he is attractive but his nasty personality makes him ugly." "I..." Connor was speechless. Gavin got closer and took Connor into his arms. "I'm going to kiss you. If you don't like me or don't want me to kiss you, you have six seconds to tell me so. Six...Five...Four...Three...Two..." "Wait, just wait a second Gavin." Connor held up a finger, he couldn't help but smile when he saw Gavin look down sadly. "Just promise to hold me tight." Gavin's face immediately lit up, "One!" Connor giggled as Gavin wrapped his arms around him. Oh my God, we're going to kiss. Oh my God! "Are you sure about this?" Gavin asked as he pulled Connor closer. "Do you want me to say no?" Connor asked as he looked into Gavin's eye's, drinking in there deep blue calmness. "No!" "Then shut up and kiss me." Gavin smiled before pressing his lips against Connor's This time Connor kissed back, shuddering as he felt sparks shot through. This is amazing! The intensity was building and Connor felt his body relaxing into Gavin's as the kept kissing. "Crap!' Gavin gasped as he broke the kiss. "What!? What did I do wrong?" Connor asked, fearing he had screwed something up. "God no, that was amazing. We need to go have breakfast with my mom. She knows I like you, but obviously she doesn't know you're gay or that you're my boyfriend." "Who said I was your boyfriend? And kissing me made you think of food?" Connor asked as he turned away from Gavin. "Hold on, the only reason I remembered about breakfast was," Gavin turned Connor around, "because you are so delicious." Gavin gave Connor a quick peck on the lips. Connor felt a surge of intense passion like a breaker about to overload. "I was hoping you would be my boyfriend. Will you be my boyfriend?" Gavin asked giving Connor puppy dog eyes. "Yes, yes a thousand times yes!" Connor exclaimed with a broad grin. Holy firkin crap, Gavin is my boyfriend. This thought bounced around in his head, his smile grew, I like how that sounds. "Isn't that from a movie?" Gavin asked with a smirk. For a second Connor thought, Gavin was making fun of him but saw in his eyes that he was just as happy. "Yeah I think so, but I can't remember which movie>" "Hell, it isn't important. We are finally together. Crap we have to hurry down for breakfast. Does your head still hurt?" Gavin asked concerned. "No, I feel so much better now." Connor gave a sheepish grin. "Good, then let's go so you can meet my mom. She has been dying to meet you. Don't forget your coffee." Connor grabbed his coffee and followed Gavin into the hallway. As they approached the stairs Connor though, I'm going to meet Gavin's mom, my boyfriend's mom! "Wait." Connor said as he reached for Gavin. "Yeah?" "What do we tell your mom?" Connor was starting to panic. "Um...we can tell her, she wouldn't care." Gavin said soothingly as he grabbed Connor's free hand. "What if she doesn't like me, what if she hates me? What if...what if?" "Connor, look at me." Connor looked into Gavin's calm ice blue eyes and felt himself start to calm down. "My mom is going to love you, trust me." With a deep sigh to gather his nerves Connor said, "Okay." They continued down the stairs, half way down the smell of pancakes met them. "Your mom cooked breakfast for you?" Connor asked with slight amazement. "She made breakfast for us, not me." "But your mom cooked it? I've never seen my mom cook." Connor said feeling ashamed that he shared that with Gavin. "Yeah my mom cooked, she makes decent food." They entered the kitchen to find Gavin's mom carrying plates to the breakfast nook. She turned as they approached. "Here mom, let me help you." Gavin hurried over and grabbed the plates. "Mom this is Connor, Connor this is my mom." "Hello Connor, it's nice to meet you." "Hi Mrs. Williams, it's nice to meet you too." "Please call me Margret." "Okay." Connor could see that she was a striking woman. She had the same blue eyes as Gavin, but not the same intensity. He also saw a resemblance in the strong cheekbones. "Finished with the plate's mom," Gavin said looking over to where she stood by Connor. Connor looked at Gavin, their eyes met and even though Gavin had ice blue eyes, Connor could feel the heat in his eyes as Gavin stared at him. Connor couldn't help but blush, embarrassed that Gavin could look at him like that in front of his own mom. Connor heard light chuckling and saw Gavin's mom laughing. "I get it you're hungry," turning to Connor "no matter how much I feed this boy he is always hungry. I'm surprised he looks so skinny." "Mooom! Stop making fun of me, geez." This is how a family should act. What happened to mine? Why doesn't my mother lo?, a soft hand on his shoulder interrupted Connor's thoughts. He turned and when Connor met Gavin's eyes, instead of embarrassment he felt pleasant warmth fill him. Connor felt that Gavin was his protector from the ever-encroaching darkness that filled his world. Gavin moved Connor to a seat and placed three pancakes in front of him. "These look great Mrs. Williams." "Please call me Margret, Mrs. Williams makes me feel old." "I'm sorry, I'll remember next time." Connor said as he looked down at his plate. "Here Connor, here is some syrup and sliced fruit." Gavin said passing them over to him. "Honey, I have some paper work to go over. It shouldn't take me too long, promise to save me some pancakes please." "Okay mom, will do." Margret smiled at Connor before leaving them alone. "So, do you like her?" Gavin asked as he reached for the fruit. "She is really nice. Do you think she likes me?" Connor asked still looking sown at his plate. "She likes you. She even got out the good plates. Connor, I wouldn't lie to you not ever, she likes you a lot, not as much as I do but no one could feel the way I do for you." Connor looked up at Gavin and gave him a meek smile. "I guess we can tell your mom. If you're sure she'll be okay with it." "Great, let's tell her when she gets back," Gavin said animatedly with a bright smile. Connor couldn't help but return Gavin's smile. "Okay, we'll tell her, which means you're going to tell her." "She's going to be so happy, I can't wait." "Why is she going to be happy?" "All she's heard is how much I like you and how I love spending time with you..." Gavin trailed off looking embarrassed. "Gavin, have I've ever told you that you're amazingly sweet?" "No, but I love hearing it." "Let's eat breakfast, I'm going to need my strength." Connor spooned some fruit onto his pancakes as he reached for the syrup, he saw Gavin staring at him. "What?" Connor asked puzzled. "Connor, you're just the cutest person I know. I'm just thinking that I'm the luckiest guy in the world." Connor glanced down, "Gavin, stop it."He is the best and so mushy... I really like it. Connor looked up, "If anyone is the luckiest guy ever, it would be me." Connor blushed and quickly went back to pouring syrup on his pancakes. Gavin took a bite of his pancake and when he finished asked, "What would you like to do today?" he asked Connor right as he took a bite of food. Connor swallowed quickly, which resulted in him coughing. Once he recovered, he replied, "I don't know; anything you want to." "Well I want to go back to bed and hold you while we talk," Gavin said smiling as he saw Connor blush, "but we could swim or watch a movie." "We could swim and later watch a movie, but first you get to tell your mom that you decided to go out with me." "Well, if you ask me, I think it was meant to be. Can I get one more kiss before you eat and I talk to my mom?" "I'm surprised you asked. Of course you can kiss me." Gavin leaned towards Connor, but Connor pulled back "Do you want to go swimming just so you can see me in a Speedo?" "Maybe," was Gavin's reply that he accompanied with a sly smile. As Connor leaned closer he whispered, "Good, I can't wait." Their lips touched, Connor felt the pleasant and now familiar sparks race through his body. As Gavin deepened the kiss, Connor thought I could get used to this. Connor slowly pulled back and heard Gavin sigh as their kiss ended. Connor winked before saying "There is no way you're faster in the water" "I can't wait because I'll beat you." Connor said before bursting into laughter. "You may be cute, sexy, and my boyfriend, but don't think I'll let you win." Gavin said as he too succumbed to laughter. Connor playfully pushed Gavin away as he laughed and said, "Let me win, you wish, all you'll see is my ass as I pass you." "That doesn't sound too bad if you asked me." Gavin said as he pulled Connor closer. Connor blushed but still smiling pushed Gavin back. "Your mom could come back any minute plus my food is going to get cold." "One more kiss, she won't?"as if on cue, Gavin's mom walked into the kitchen. She was looking at Connor. "Connor is something wrong, you've hardly touched your food." "Oh, no Mrs.- I mean Margret." Connor picked up his fork and started to eat. The pancakes were delicious. "These are some of the best pancakes I've ever had Margret. Did you put a little nutmeg and maybe a dash of vanilla?" "Wow aren't you something. Do you cook?" she asked as she sat down. "I like to think that I can cook." Connor said as he took another bite and kicked Gavin. "Hey mom, I've got to talk to you. It's important." Gavin said after wincing from Connor's kick. "Is everything okay sweetheart?" Margret asked as she leaned forward resting her elbows on the table. Oh God, here it comes, what if she cries or gets mad? What if she tells me that I can never talk to her son again? The food Connor was eating had been delicious, but now it felt like he was eating cardboard. "Mom. I'm going out with Connor, he's my boyfriend." Emotions flooded his body like a dam breaking. He felt a sense of pride that Gavin sounded proud about the fact that they were dating, and he knew without even truly comprehending the fact that he loved Gavin. The pride and love were tainted with fear of Margret's reaction. Connor stared at his plate afraid to meet either of their eyes. He felt Margret get up, and then suddenly, she had her arms around him. "Oh, I'm so happy to hear that, I can't wait to tell your father, he's going to be so thrilled. Connor, this makes me so happy. All Gavin has done for the past few months is talk about you." She looked at him, "Are you okay sweetie?" "You're happy?" She is actually happy. My parents would kill me. "Of course I'm happy. Anything that makes Gavin happy makes me happy." She looked at Gavin, "I'm going to call your father and let him know." She hurried out of the room. Connor sat there looking down at his food. "I wish I could read your mind." Gavin whispered. Connor felt Gavin's hand wrap around his own, Connor looked up and saw Gavin starring at him with a faint smile. "I notice when you run away into Connorland, I just wish I could go with you." Connor looked down and slowly pulled his hand out of Gavin's hand. "Let's finish eating, so we can go swimming." Connor looked up and flashed a cheerful smile. "Okay," Gavin said returning Connor's smile. Connor quickly returned to eating, hoping to move along. Before he had taken five bites, he felt Gavin starring at him. Connor looked up and asked "What?" "I'm just thinking about you in a Speedo, I figure that with gymnastics and swimming your body must be the closest thing to perfection other than those amazing smarts you have." Gavin said as he stood up slowly. Connor blushed but gave him a sly smile, "Well, I think I don't need to finish eating." Gavin quickly grabbed the plates and dishes off the table. Both boys hurried up the stairs. Gavin took Connor into the closet. "Here go ahead and pick out whichever one you want." Gavin opened a drawer. Connor peered into the drawer and saw a rainbow of colors. Connor only had a few Speedos but Gavin had one in every color imaginable: White, red, blue, purple, pink, blue, orange, black and some had funky designs. Well, I'm not going to wear the white ones. I'm not stupid. The blue one should be fine. Connor picked a light blue Speedo and hurried into the bathroom. He stripped off his clothes and pulled on the Speedo. Picking up the clothes on the floor and redressed. Opening the bathroom door, Connor saw Gavin holding two towels and wearing his clothes too. "You ready to go swim?" Gavin asked, as he looked Connor up and down. "Yeah, You'll see me in a Speedo after I see you." Connor smirked. "Come on." Gavin gave Connor puppy dog eyes. "No, no way, you already saw me without a shirt on so no." Connor said as he grabbed at one of the towels. Gavin grabbed Connor's arm and pulled him close. "Well then we better hurry." Gavin kissed Connor pulling him even tighter. "Follow me!" Gavin yelled as he bolted out the door. "Hey! Wait up!" Connor shouted as he shot out after Gavin. He heard him laughing as he moved down the stairs. Connor hit the landing and looked around. He didn't see or hear Gavin. "Where are?," Connor was grabbed around the waist and laughing voice whispered in his ear. "I want to hold you forever. Connor you're just so..." Gavin pulled Connor into a door underneath the stairs. "...amazing, Connor I don't think you know how happy you make me." Connor pushed Gavin against the wall, "You don't know how many times I dreamt about us being together." Connor pressed his lips against Gavin's causing him to drop the towels. Gavin wrapped his arms around Connor. The way an earthquake tears buildings down was not compared to how Connor felt when Gavin tightened his hold and deepened the kiss. The world swayed in the aftershock of their kiss. Gavin ended the kiss with a sigh and then gave Connor a peck on the lips. That was so intense. I can't believe I was scared to come out to him. I never want to leave him. Gavin picked up the towels and then held out his free hand. Connor slid his hand drawing comfort from the calm strength that was Gavin. Leading the way down the stairs Gavin rubbed the back of Connor's hand with his thumb. "Holy firkin crap!" Connor exclaimed as Gavin pushed open a door at the end of the staircase. They had walked into a huge room with a large pull and diving platform. "This is where I practice." Gavin said to the look on Connor's face. "I have a big pool too, but geez." "My parents wanted me to have a place to practice year-round." "This is amazing, I'm coming here to practice." "That's fine, more chances to see you in a Speedo." "Gavin, you are so naughty. Speaking of less clothes you're suppose to get down to your Speedo before me." "Connor, could you say naughty again." "Naughty?" "With your accent it sounds so hot." "Shut up and take off your clothes." Connor snapped with a smirk. "I hope that's not the last time I hear that." "Shut?" "Turn around or close your eyes." Gavin said with a shooing motion. Connor closed his eyes and hummed "Mary had a little lamb." I'm about to see Gavin with almost no clothes on. Deep breathes Connor. "You can open your eyes now." Connor opened his eyes and felt his heart stop and then race as if it was in the Kentucky Derby. Gavin stood in a green Speedo. He looked nervous. Connor's eyes slowly moved down Gavin's body. Connor saw Gavin's strong chest and muscular arms well defined from baseball and swimming. Connor liked that Gavin's abs were not over-developed, but rather like smooth marble with slight yet clearly defined indentations. Connor blushed as his eyes slid over the green Speedo. He smiled as he saw Gavin's strong legs. "You're a god. People dream of having a body like yours. "Thanks, it's not that good though." Gavin murmured blushing. "Well if we ever want to get to swimming..." Connor said as he pulled of his shirt. He slid out of his shorts and stood awkwardly in front of Gavin. This is awful! What if he thinks I look disgusting without clothes on? "Wow, Connor. Look at yourself. You have such great definition." "Yeah, yeah." Connor said before running to the pool and jumped in the pull with a splash. God I can't believe he just saw me in a Speedo. He thought I looked amazing. And him, he was just wow! I can't imagine why he wants to date me. I am so lucky to have him. CHAPTER 12 Wow! Gavin would never forget Connor standing in front of him in the blue Speedo. "Get in here Gavin!" Connor shouted from the middle of the pull. Gavin went to the diving platform and did a back flip into the pool. Gavin and Connor swam a few warm-up laps and raced. The boys tied with each other every race. When it came to diving Connor was more flexible and preformed better due to his gymnastics. Gavin sat and watched smiling, he knew Connor was going to make the team next year. After Connor got tired of diving, the boys simply swam, splashing each other. Neither one of them noticed the time passing. Gavin was overjoyed that he finally was able to hold and kiss Connor. I can't believe I'm going out with Connor! The boys were having so much fun, that when Gavin's mom came down and told them dinner would be ready soon. Both boys grabbed the towels as they hurried upstairs to change. Dinner was a quick affair, Gavin wanted to lay down with Connor and watched a movie. Gavin was embarrassed as his mom went through the ritual of telling all the stupid things he had done. As embarrassed, as he was he was happy that Connor was enjoying himself. "Mom please stop. The story about me spilling the plant and eating the dirt was bad enough. I would like to spend some time with my boyfriends and watch a movie." "Okay, okay honey. That will give me time to think of some more stories. If you boys can just put these dishes in the sink for me. Then you can go off and watch a movie." Margret said smiling at the boys. "Sure Mrs. Wi?I mean Margret. Come on Gavin, help me." Connor said as he stood and grabbed his plate. The boys cleared off the table and rinsed off the dishes. Neither boy talked to each other. They were both working quickly to watch a movie together. As the last dish was taken care of Gavin sighed, "Finally done." "Yeah, so what movie did you have in mind?" Gavin thought for a moment, "Well what kind of movie; comedy, romance, comedy-romance, thriller, fantasy, anime, horror, drama..."Gavin marked off each type of movie on his fingers. Connor started to laugh. Gavin blinked in surprise, "what's so funny?' "You're face I mean the way you're counting." "Why?" "The face you make is so serious, Hun I don't care about the movie. Gavin I just want to spend time with you. Gavin, I just want to spend time with you."Connor said as he gave Gavin a coy smile. "What did you just say?" "I said I wanted to spend time with you. Are you okay?" Connor asked as he peered into Gavin's eyes. Gavin swept Connor into a warm embrace. Connor hesitated before returning the hug. "Are you okay?" "You called me Hun." "Is that okay?" "Yeah of course," Gavin pulled away and held Connor in front of him, "It was just so cute." "You are the world's biggest dork." Connor laughed. Gavin blushed, "Well?" "But you're my big dork and I would never change that." Connor said as he lowered Gavin's arms and wrapped his own around Gavin pulling him in. Connor gave him a deep kiss and sighed as Gavin held him tighter. He is so soft. I'll be his forever?" Gavin's thoughts were cut short by a sudden gasp. His eyes flew open, to see Connor breathing heavily. "You okay?" Breathing heavily Connor gasped, "Yeah I forgot to breath. Sorry." "You called me a dork. How do you forget to breathe?" Gavin asked as he gave Conner an incredulous look. "Well, I mean it's a compliment to you. I was so caught up in the moment I just forgot. But I really don't care what movie we watch." Gavin pulled Connor close, "Let's go." The boys made their way up to Gavin's room. Gavin popped in some romantic-comedy. The boys paid little attention to the movie, which turned into background noise. The boys laid in each other's arms, speaking softly of what the future held for them. The boys fell asleep holding each other, murmuring sweet sentiments to each other. Margret looked in on the two boys. Seeing them asleep, she crept in and by the light of the TV she pulled the blankets over them. "Sweet dreams." October shifted to November and Gavin and Connor's relationship flourished like a fertile garden. Their feelings for each other blossomed into like a rose. They were careful at school, but it w as clear to everyone that something was different between them. Before it was rare if they weren't together, but now they were inseparable. Connor only went home to sleep and talk to Janett. Gavin had a hard time not holding, caressing or kissing Connor in school. When they had classes apart, they thought about each other. When they were biology, they quietly held hands. History was harder because they spent much of the time passing notes. Gavin became Connor's model. Gavin was working on a song for Connor. Alex saw little of his brother, he might have caught a glimpse of Connor as he went to the bathroom before bed. Alex was slowly becoming more withdrawn. He was spending more and more time in his room. Connor noticed but chalked it up to being a teenager. There were a few weeks before Thanksgiving and they decided what to do. The boys were living in their own world they were impervious to everything. Well, they were until...
