PART 3 THIS STORY IS THE COPYRIGHT OF THE OWNER (ME) SO PLEASE DO NOT REPOST OR ANYTHING WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. ENJOY! WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME – PART 3 HIGH SCHOOL -- "HE DOES SOMETHING TO ME, THAT BOY. EVERY TIME. IT'S HIS ONLY DETRIMENT. HE STEPS ON MY HEART. HE MAKES ME CRY." - MARKUS ZUSAK, THE BOOK THIEF "Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies." The teacher said. I was sitting in English. Listening to our teacher speak on love. "Does anyone know who spoke those words?" He asked looking at the class. "Anyone?" He asked looking at us with contempt. I sort of hate new teachers. They are so condescending. He was sighing in frustration moving away when I somehow got the courage to say: "Aristotle" "Who said that?" He asked as he whipped around almost breaking his neck. I raised my hand and lightly thrust out my chin almost as a challenge. Even Bryce looked surprised to see me speak in class. "Are you sure Mr. Carteret?" He asked with a half smile. "Yes." "Well done." He nodded his head to me. "And do you know what Aristotle meant when he wrote those words?" "Well there is a legend that states that the Greek gods of Mount Olympus were frightened by the power of the human beings who were made up of four arms and legs and two souls. The gods fearing that they might be overpowered, cut the humans in half so that they might spend all eternity searching for their other half." "Gay!!" Shouted one of the jocks that Bryce was friends with. I felt myself blush and just looked at my book in front of me. I thought that this incident would be ignored just like so many others. "Dumb!!" Mr. Brown shouted pointing at the jock. "What does it feel like?" He asked seeing the jock turn red as the class started laughing. "If you ever insult another human being in my class again for giving a very intelligent and valid opinion I will make sure you fail my class. Do you understand me?" Mr. Brown asked as he stopped in front of the desk where Bryce and his friend were sitting at. "Yes Sir." He said looking down at his hands. *************************************************** I was standing in line waiting to grab something to eat, when I saw Bryce coming to stand behind me. I quickly turned to the front. "Hey Case." He said tapping me on the shoulder. His friends weren't with him. "Hallo." I said giving him a sort of smile. "You look good today." He said looking at my body. I was dressed in dark blue jeans and was wearing a beige Lacoste sweater and brown uggs. Not really exciting. "Thank you." I said grabbing an apple and some mac and cheese along with a diet pepsi. "You're welcome." He said dishing up a lot of food. "Are you doing okay?" "Yes, I'm fine." I grabbed my tray and walked outside. It was cold weather so I wanted to eat outside since almost no people would be out there. "Case, so I uh, wanted to apologize for what happened on Saturday. I keep forgetting how mean some of those kids are to you." He was standing there looking down at me, holding his tray. "It's fine." I wasn't even looking at him. It was embarrassing the things they do and say to me and having someone pity you just makes it worse. "Case, I can't help that I like girls and you." He said plonking down opposite me. "I love Brandy, but I am obsessed with you. You know I can't choose. What would that mean for my life? Being ostracized and hated by everyone? No, thank you. " "Which is why I made the decision for you. This twisted, toxic, sick thing between us is done! It's finally over and I can move on with my life!" I had started to get up and was planning to leave. "NO!" He shouted slamming his fist down on the table and rising up, towering over me. "No." He said more quietly. Not that anyone else was outside. "What do you mean `No?'" I asked shooting him a glare. "You are not leaving me." He was moving around the table coming closer to me. "That's not your decision to make anymore Bryce." I was backing slowly trying not to spook him. "I can't live without you Case. It's the Carteret curse. You know that." I felt my back hit the wall and he took his opportunity to block me off and grab hold of my wrists. "Bryce anyone could come outside, let me go." He wasn't hurting me, but this wasn't healthy behavior. "I believe he asked you to let him go mate." Bryce turned around to find a guy who was just as tall as him, but more a lean muscled than Bryce's bulky muscles. "Fuck off Aussie." Bryce spat at him. "Mate, if you think I'm gonna let you hurt someone while I am around you are pretty dumb aren't you." He had this grin on his face that I knew was trying to mock Bryce into losing his temper, which he did, and focus on him rather than me. Bryce had let me go and was almost audibly growling with frustration as he marched towards the newcomer. "Bryce!" I shouted. "You know if you get into another fight you'll be expelled! Let it go and leave us alone." I said as I ran in between them. Bryce glared at me and stormed off back into the cafeteria. Leaving his food forgotten on the table. "Thanks, love." The Australian guy said. Turning around I asked: "For what?" "For saving me. I'm not a fighter. But when I saw him hurting you I wanted to kill him." New guy winked at me. "The names Hunter." He said holding out his hand for me to shake. "Casey." I said shaking his hand. "That's a girls name." "Its spelled ey not ie. Trust me it's a boys name." "I think you are wicked attractive. How about a date?" Hunter smiled at me and took a step forward. "Uhm, no." I said "Why? I'm hot." He stated so matter of factly, I burst out laughing. "Nah, man. Just kidding." He said coming closer still. "No, you are not." "Seriously though. I find you sexy and wanna get together. Dinner tonight?" He tried again. "NO!" I swear my voice raised an octave. "Why?" "First of all. You are way too arrogant, second of all I don't want the whole school talking about me and thirdly I just got out of a bad relationship." "With that big tool?" He said pointing in the general direction of the cafeteria. "Who are you anyway? I haven't seen you around." "I'm from Melbourne, Australia. My mom moved back to the USA when she divorced my dad. She is American." He said shrugging his shoulders. "You don't sound American either by the way." "My mother is British so I have a mixed accent. My mom says I sound like a deeper Grace Kelly." I laughed softly and said: "Well, I have to go." "I'll see you at seven tonight for our date." Hunter called after me. "Whatever." I laughing. There is no way this guy knows where I live. Its practically his first day in town and he doesn't know anyone else to ask. *************************************************** I was trying to catch up on a few Revenge episodes after finishing my homework when my mother knocked on my door and told me that someone was waiting for me downstairs. Bryce. Noooooooooo. I walked down the stairs into the living room to find Hunter there. "Hello mate." He said with that self-satisfied smile of his. "How do you know where I live?" "Mate you must be half insane. We moved in across the road from you like a week ago. Can't believe you haven't noticed me mowing the lawn all sweaty and shirtless." "YOU live in that tacky modern building?" I asked shocked. I know I hated glass and chrome buildings. They looked so tacky and like new money. Not used to anything. "Its hardly tacky. You should come and take a look sometime." He said, scratching his leg and bringing my eyes down to his crotch. "Why are you here?" "Its our date. Go get dressed and FYI dress comfortably, cause I bet its gonna be out of you comfort level." I rolled my eyes and walked upstairs to change into jeans and a warm shirt, jacket, scarf and beanie type hat and gloves with my uggs. It was so cold outside. I can't believe I was going out with this weirdo. HEY GUYS!! RECEIVED SO MANY WONDERFUL COMMENTS FROM YOU GUYS! I HOPE YOU LIKE THIS CHAPTER AND YES, I DID INTRODUCE A POSSIBLE TWIST IN THE STORY.
