For whomever it would be illegal, immoral or forbidden for any other reason whatsoever to read a story about love between two consenting young brothers is kindly requested to refrain from continuing. A photo album (pdf) concerning this story is available upon request . This being said, I hope you enjoy the tale. ---------- CELESTIAL INCEST by Marin Giustinian ---------- Foreward The story starts in Charlottesville, Virginia and continues in Venice, Italy during the early summer of 1970. Before internet, e-mail and cell phones, letters were very important. In the 60's and 70's, postal services in the United States and in Europe were very efficient and inexpensive. An air mail letter posted in Virginia could arrive to destination anywhere in Europe three days. An exchange of letters would not take more than a week. The art, etiquette and skill of letter writing were taught in schools and used. The fact that when you received a letter, you knew that the person had touched it, licked the stamp and envelope and carried it to a mail box, just for you. Sometimes, you could even get a wisp of perfume left (or put) on the paper, bringing you a touch of intimacy that nothing but physical presence could replace. Letters were sensual contracts, bearing the sender's hand written signature as a pledge of sincerity. In fact, it was another world compared to the flippant sterility of chats and personal messages on Facebook or sent by SMS or E-mail. When you wrote or typed a letter, there was a physical trace of the special moment you spent with the person to whom it was destined. In a letter, there was always an emotion knowing that your words were actually traveling by rail, by wing or simply on the road, passing from hand to hand, until the envelope was ripped open and the connection made. Letters are important in this story which is about two brothers, Julian and Alan Wilkes. They were born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia. Their very free-thinking parents were both professors at the University of Virginia. Their father met their mother while working on his Bachelor's degree in English. She was from Italy, from Rome to be exact, studying in the University of Virginia, benefiting from the very first Fulbright exchange program. She fell pregnant with Julian and they got married. She kept her Italian citizenship until after Julian and Alan were born. She was naturalized as an American citizen when she joined her husband on the faculty of the University of Virginia, he in American Poetry and she, in Advanced Italian. They were able to buy a very comfortable home on Rugby Road, own three cars and if they didn't belong to the Farmington Country Club nor were considered as members of the Finer Families of Virginia, they did enjoy a very good status rank among the rather liberal and well educated clique of faculty members. Their two sons spoke fluent Italian as well as the pair of little twin sisters who were born several years later. Julian had just turned 20 and was well into his Junior year working on a Bachelor's degree of History at the University of Virginia. He wanted to specialize later in the history of the Republic of Venice when going to graduate school. He applied for a little grant to do research in Venice and was accepted to go for three months to the Institute for the History of the Venetian State and Society of the Foundation Cini on Saint George Island in Venice. Because of this, he was dispensed of attending the last month of lectures in the university. His equally gifted younger brother, Alan, was a senior at Lane High School and a very gifted violinist. At the age of 17 he was already accepted to go to the McIntire Department of Music at the University of Virginia for his B. A.. ---------- And now, on with the story. "Alan, you're going to graduate soon and start life as a full fledged college student. How would you like to come with me to the family cabin this weekend? I'm throwing a little party with four other buddies before I leave for Venice and I'd like for you to join the gang. What do you say?" "Wow, Julian! I say a great big YES. That's so cool of you to ask me to come! I'm really dreading the fact that we're going to be separated for three horrible, long months. It's the first time you won't be around -- so I don't think I'll be much in the mood to celebrate a lot!" "Wait until you've had some rum and coke in you and you'll feel really different about it all, believe me!" "Do Mom and Dad know that you've invited me?" "Of course! In fact they're really happy about it. First of all, that I'm inviting you and especially for you to get a little beforehand experience in university partying with me as your guardian angel. I agree with them when they say you spend way too much time wrapped up in playing your violin and listening to your LP's all the time. You should be hanging out with some buddies or out on a date. You are so damn handsome, it's a pity you keep your good looks just for us!" "You're the handsome one, Julian, and you're always buried in the library so shut up! I'm fine like I am... but a good party at the cabin's going to be a blast!" "Now that May is here, we're planning to rent canoes and spend a day going down the river. How does that sound?" "Sounds great as long as you let me pair up with you." "Sure, we'll team up just to show the world that the Wilkes brothers are simply the best!" "Do you think you and I are the best for real, Julian?" "I don't think so, numbskull! I KNOW we're the best!" he said as he hugged his younger brother, kissing his neck. "A tavola!" shouted their mother from downstairs. "She's always so afraid the dinner will be cold before we get there!" joked Alan as he ruffled Alan's hair and broke away, "Gotta wash my hands!" With that, the brothers clobbered downstairs as their father and sisters came into the dining room at the same time. Their maid, Priscilla, brought in the meal as they took place. "Julian, dear, I wrote to your grandparents giving them the news that you'll be in Venice for three months. I know you're looking forward on being free and out on your own, but you've got to go and see them at least once," instructed La Mamma. With her, there was no discussion possible! "I promise, Mom! By the way, I got the confirmation letter from the Locanda Montin that my room and board are reserved and that they are happy to expect me. Madison, you know, the guy who went to study at the Fine Arts Academy in Venice... the guy who gave me the address, said it's a great place, off the tourist circuit and full of artists. He says that the food is out of this world." "It ain't better than my cooking Mr. Julian! That just can't be!" laughed Pricilla as she brought in the main course. "I'm sure you're right, Priscilla... It's just that you're not exactly Venetian and what they cook just isn't the same as what we have down here in Virginia." "And what do you think about going to your brother's bachelor's party up at the cabin, Alan?" asked their father. "I'm thrilled, Dad!" "Don't let those barbarians get you drunk!" chimed in the mother. Alan just shrugged with a sheepish smile crossing his face as Julian coughed, trying to stifle a giggle. ---------- Spring holidays started and the two brothers along with their four friends drove over to the small cabin on the Shenandoah River near Bentonville. They piled in, claiming beds, unloading food, lighting the fire and by 5:30 PM they popped open some beer waiting for the fire to die down to barbecue chicken. "How long does the fridge take to make ice, Julian?" shouted out Madison. "They'll be hard enough by 8:30. We'll have to be satisfied with beer till then. By the way, Montin confirmed my reservations." "You'll see, it's a really special artsy place and soon you'll be able to eat in the garden. Great! Hey there, Alan, what do think about your brother going to Venice?" "I hate it!" he said, halfway laughing as he cuddled up to Julian, "He won't even be here for my graduation!" "It's just your first graduation... High school doesn't really count." bantered Steve, another friend of Julian, "And don't fret, you've got your brother all for yourself tonight and tomorrow night because, since we aren't in the Wilkes clan, we have to shack out like poor outsiders on the bunks in the other bedroom. Now go and get yourself another beer and keep up drinking with us! It'll do you good!" As the evening drew on and the meal served, the atmosphere became really smooth and soft spoken. Everybody was unwinding and the after dinner rum and coke kept the spirits nice and relaxed. "Listen guys, tomorrow we're on the river. I'm dead tired and going to turn in. Breakfast at 6:30! You coming Alan?" announced Julian, rising on rather unstable legs followed by an equally unstable Alan. They both peed and brushed their teeth together and then retired to the bedroom. Alan seemed to have some trouble undoing his jeans. Julian laughed saying, "How you doing buddy? Not too drunk?" "I dunno. How much is TOO drunk? I'm fine -- I think. Just can't get these damn jeans off my butt!" he said collapsing on the bed, giggling, pulling desperately on his tight jeans, already halfway down. Julian was already undressed when he came over and yanked jeans and underpants off his giggling brother, trying to calm him down some. "Wow! That's cool! Let's sleep in the buff!" exclaimed a yawning Alan as his idolized brother turned off the lights. They both slipped under the cold covers and snuggled up to each other back to back. A few minutes clicked by and Julian felt his bedmate shaking some, not because of the cold but because he was trying to hold back his tears. "What's wrong little buddy?" he whispered, putting his arm around Alan's waist. "Nothing..." he hiccuped sobbing. Julian pulled Alan up real close, turning him around so that they were face to face. He soothed the upset lad, rubbing his backside and gently cradling him. He clutched and embraced Alan, his leg draped over his little brother's thighs. Their cocks rose slowly as they rubbed ever so slightly together. Alan's tears swelled and receded as he buried his face into Julian's neck. "I won't be away long, little buddy! You'll see, it's going to go by fast! You know I love you and love as strong as ours can cross oceans! Please don't cry. You're going to get me upset too, Alan." Julian's attention calmed him some and then he stuttered, "I'm so foolish! I'm sorry. I don't want to spoil our weekend. I don't know what overcame me..." "I think it's the liquor! You know it can do that to you sometimes..." "Yeah, you're right! It's the liquor. My God, I feel so good here in your arms like that, Julian. Hold me tight!" "I feel good too," he whispered back, his voice a bit lower. Their breathing became deeper as they grasped each other with a bit more insistence, grinding their cocks together, now hard as cop's nightstick. "Are you all right with this, Alan?" "More than ever!" Useless to say that nature took over. Their caresses were somewhat awkward to begin with and neither adventured a kiss until Alan grasped Julian's head and brought his mouth down on Julian's. At first, he was surprised, then he yielded to his brother's insistent tongue. It didn't take long. They both flexed their cocks, then jacked together, kissing and trembling as their copious shots of semen spewed into the sweat of their bellies. "Thank you Julian! I'm so happy! I heard that in California, the guys who enjoy what we just did are called 'gay'! That's how I feel now, gay! Gay and happy. And you, how do you feel, Julian?" "I simply love you and didn't know I could love you even more in this way too. Nothing more to say." They kissed again and fell asleep holding each other all snuggled up, nice and tight. ---------- "Breakfast is ready!" shouted Steve as he stormed into the room, "Hey there! Oh! Look at that! The love birds! You guys really go at it strong with your brotherly love act!". Steve laughed at Julian and Alan in bed, finding them tenderly embraced, hardly covered by a single sheet. They were a bit startled as they woke up, groggy and stark naked. "Yeah man! We are number one in brotherly love and wait till you see how we are number one in canoeing!" stated Julian as he stepped out of bed, sporting his decent sized erect cock bobbing in front of him as he bypassed Steve and mockingly snubbed him on his way to the toilet. "Come on! Get up Alan!" laughed Steve. "I'll get up when Julian's finished. Brotherly love doesn't necessarily include peeing together in the same toilet with hards on." "You're right man. There are limits! Ha!" Nobody commented Julian and Alan's arrival in the kitchen where the other guys had put together a very decent breakfast. They gathered their stuff as well as a copious picnic and drove over to the base, chose their canoes and down the Shenandoah they went. It was a fantastic late spring morning, the current was steady and the sky, a deep, clear blue. The brothers paddled in stressless unison, leading the 'flotilla' as they rounded bend after the bend. They beached on a nice shady spot and enjoyed their picnics. From time to time Alan would look at Julian and smile. Without really realizing it, their lives had radically changed. "I can't help envying how you two guys get along," commented Steve as the brothers were pushing their canoe back into the river. "Yeah, you're killing us trying to keep up!" laughed Madison, "Wait until you see how the guys paddle and row over in Venice. It's damn awesome! They do it standing up." "Do what standing up?" teased Jimmy. "Row their boats, you perved jackass!" "That's really weird man! Rowing standing up." "And they go straight, rowing on just one side!" concluded Madison. They were underway again and enjoying themselves until they landed at the canoe base in Front Royal. When they were driven back to their cars, they went straight to the cabin since it was already 7:30 PM. They kept on joking and laughing like morons, putting the supper together, downing beers as they buzzed around in the kitchen. Alan was on the front porch as Julian sided up behind him, softly whispering in his ear, "How's life, buddy?" "Great! And yours?" Alan replied still looking out on the river slowly dimming before him. "Never been better, little brother." Alan just leaned back on Julian as he put his arms around the lad's waist. "Hey there! Love-doves! Who needs a drink out there? Beer or Cuba Libre?" shouted Steve. Alan smiled at Steve, looking over Julian's shoulder and making a kind of warbling sound, he drawled, "Cuba Libre please, Steve, and watch out for the love-doves! We're on our way back in!" and both Alan and Julian broke out laughing, as Steve just shrugged! ---------- The guys lined up for showers before going to bed. Everybody was a bit tipsy and worn out! Once back in their room, Julian joked, "You're not going to cry again tonight are you?" tugging a very naked and freshly washed Alan up close as they climbed in bed. "Only if you soothe me beforehand!" "I don't know if I'll soothe you or cheer you, maybe a bit of both... but one thing's sure, I'm definitely going to take care of you, my little lover-brother!" "And I'm going to take care of you too!" exclaimed Alan as he slid down under the covers and took Julian's turgid cock in his mouth, gently sucking on it as he caressed his big brother's chest. "Wow! Take it easy, buddy! Let's make it last! God knows when we'll be able to do it again!" Crawling back up to Julian's face, Alan asked, "Do you think it's something we should leave it up to the gods?" Julian gently took Alan's head between his hands, looking deep into his eyes, said quite serenely, "Yeah! Because we are gods and we'll manage, little brother -- believe me, we'll manage." He then tenderly kissed Alan's smiling lips and stroking his brother's perfect cock, murmured, "Let's coil up and take our time. I'm thirsting for you as you are for me. This is something we can only do together!" "It'll be hard to take our time." "We've got a few times more before dawn!" ---------- The next morning the group broke up, the four guest boys in one car and the brothers in theirs. The drive back was a bit silent, both from having slept little and also because of Julian's imminent departure. Alan was a bit sullen and suddenly, Julian was less excited about leaving. He was slowly realizing he too would be missing his left-behind Alan. Their bonds had taken on a definitely deeper dimension. "I'll write you often! Promise!" repeated Julian with a bit of insistence in his voice. "And I'll answer every, every letter on the day I get it! We can even make a telephone date when I know I'm alone in the house, if you can afford it, of course." "Of course, I can afford it! The grant is rather substantial and Dad has already said he'd keep me afloat cash wise." "Yes, in Venice it's better to be afloat I guess!" They both chuckled at the limp joke, but at least it lightened the atmosphere. Julian spent the next day packing and repacking, weighing the two bags to keep them under the 40 lb. limit on his flight. He would leave out of Dulles to London and from there, catch a connecting flight to Venice. The following day, the father drove Julian, with Alan tagging along, to the airport. His mother stayed behind with the girls and of course wept as he left the house, submerged in all kinds of "do's and don'ts" and orders to write often. She followed them out to the car, never ceasing to touch and kiss. "The legend about Italian mothers is pure truth," thought Julian as he finally closed the car door and was on his way! Alan didn't cry when they said good-bye at the check-in desk. Just a big daddy and brother hug and that was it. The flight was eventless. Better boring than bothersome as they say. The change in London went smooth as could be and at 11:00 AM local time he landed at the Marco Polo airport in Venice. The weather was perfect, so was the on-flight service and immediate baggage claim. As he was going through customs and passport control, he thought back about the other family trip to Rome by ship aboard the Leonardo da Vinci of the Italian Lines six years previously. He was 14 and Alan, 11. Their sisters weren't born yet but everybody was sure that they were conceived on the ship. The fresh, sea air can make twins happen as their grandmother said later. That was a fun trip. "What a loss to fly across the ocean," thought Julian, "Yesterday, in Charlottesville, today, in Venice... what a bummer!" He boarded a 'motoscafo', a taxi speedboat used in Venice, and with bags and jet lag, there he was roaring across the waters on his way to Montin's. As they entered the city and cruised down the Grand Canal, Julian was awestruck by the beauty of the city. It was far beyond all he could have imagined and yet he knew the place almost by heart, having studied everything he could find about it. They turned into Rio del Malpaga then Rio de le Romite, and tied up right in front of the inn and restaurant. The driver helped him unload his bags and once he was paid, pulled off. Julian went in. It was lunch time and the place was very busy with all kinds of interesting looking people. The lady at the bar behind the cash register noticed him. She was the owner's wife and ran the rented out rooms upstairs. She gestured him to come over. "You're our little American boarder aren't you? Julian, that is." "Sono io, Signora." (That's me, M'am.) "Parli italiano allora! Va bene!" (You speak Italian then! Great!) "My name is Midi and my husband's name is like yours, Giuliano," she said as they climbed the stairs with the key to his room. "You freshen up and come down for lunch," she said. That's exactly what he did. He had already fallen in love with his new home. He enjoyed a delicious lunch in the garden sharing a table with another young fellow alone there for lunch too. Once he had finished, he realized that he was in dire need of a long, hard nap. When he woke up, he did his unpacking just in time for supper. Again, a treat for him as he relished on the fried shrimp and calamari topped off with a pitcher of white sparkling wine. While he was at the table, the waiter came up and said, "Telefono, Signore Julian." He jumped up and went to the phone on the wall just behind Midi. "Fine, Mamma! (pause) wonderful, Mamma (pause) Of course I will, Mamma (pause) I'll hand her over to you. It's my mother. She's Romana and she wants to talk to you..." Giving Julian a sympathizing smile, Signora Midi, sitting in her perpetual cloud of cigarette smoke, took the call and they spoke for a minute or two. "Dear Julian, I'm German and I know that Italian mothers are special," she said to the boy, "Especially if they are from Rome..." "I'm the first to know so, Signora Midi!" said Julian as they laughed. He returned to his table and struck up conversation with the waiter and another boarder, an artist like Madison. He was from Sweden, a bit aloof and not very friendly. After dessert, he excused himself and went out to stroll over to the Zattere and admire the lights of the Giudecca on the far side of the wide channel before going back up to bed. He made a mental note to buy stationary, stamps and envelopes tomorrow and after brushing his teeth, collapsed in bed and slept like a log until nearly ten the next morning. Things were really looking good for him! After exploring the neighborhood, he came back for a late lunch and then took the 'vaporetto', a kind of water bus, over to Saint George Island where he presented himself to the director of the Institute to check in for his research work. Returning on the vaporetto, he stayed in a sort of haze, still under the charm of all the beauty Venice was flooding him with. Once back in his room, he placed his little, faithful, portable typewriter on the small table he could use as a desk. He then went to his window looking out onto the garden, smoked a cigarette and sighed. He went back and sat, beginning his first transatlantic letter to Alan. ---------- My dearest Alan, The first thing I have to say to you is I MISS YOU a lot! The flight coming over went well even if I was bored to death and the food, tasteless. But! Venice is unbelievable! I can't describe it. My biggest problem is that I can't keep you out of my mind! Whenever I see something beautiful, and there is beauty everywhere, I keep wanting to say, "Hey Alan! Look at this ; look at that!" Yes, it's true when I get into my big bed, even if it's terribly empty, I feel you next to me. When I wake up, I reach over, but I'm all by myself and even lonely because you're not there with me. The funniest part about it all is that I DO NOT want to get over it! I love loving you. It's such a new and fabulous feeling finding a new brother and even more so, a wonderful lover. It's great discovering someone with whom I've been with ever since I remember. I knew you as you grew. I knew you when you started to have "needs" like I do, but I never imagined us "needing" together. Since we've shared our needs, I feel like I need you more. I need you and no one other than you. Now I'm going to experience Venice as much as I can so that I can fully share it with you when I get back. As far as work is concerned, I went over to the Institute just a while ago. The boat ride is great. I was introduced to Mr. Bognetti, the newly appointed director of the Institute, who welcomed me. Nice guy. I'll meet the others later. He told me to take my time to settle down in Venice and think about targeting a smaller area of research. Venice, per se, is way too vast. I am thinking about working on the Island of Torcello where Venice began. To be more precise, I'm thinking about doing research on the out islands of Ammiana and Costaziaco, where before the year 1100, the now sunken city was built before the people moved over to what is now Venice. I get dizzy just thinking about how much there is to be done and seventeen weeks seem so few! I'm going to sign off now. I can't wait to get your letter. I'm kissing the space where I'll sign and put a drop of my aftershave on the paper. Keep cool my precious brother-lover! I'm hard just thinking about you! (signature) He folded the letter, typed the address on the envelope, stuck the letter in the envelope, licked the flap and closed it. Then he licked the stamps and stuck them in place. He washed up and went to bed. He looked at the picture he had of Alan and said to the photo, "Tomorrow I'll find a little frame for you little brother and put you next to my bed!" As he began slumbering, he 'tamed' his persistent hard on, moaning, "Alan, my beloved Alan..." before tossing his dampened tee shirt on the floor and falling asleep. ---------- Dearest Julian, You should have seen me dance as I found your letter on the little table in the entrance. Pricilla just laughed when she saw me run up the stairs, two steps at a time and slam my door. It was so good when your scent hit me as I ripped open your letter. I kissed it and when I read that you had kissed it too, I got hard myself! I've got to admit a secret to you. When we got back from the canoe trip, I grabbed your briefs out of the dirty laundry bin and hid them in my room so I could smell them as I jack off thinking about us. Hope you don't mind! It really turns me on when I shoot off in the pouch where your own dick had been. I miss you too! It almost hurts sometimes. The house seems so empty with you not here. I sometimes go into your room and just sit there, but it makes me even sadder. Once, I even wept when I imagined that for some stupid reason, you couldn't come back. I think I'll stay out from now on. Here, I'm overloaded with finals coming up and graduation plans being made and all. I know you can't come, but I'll only think of you when they hand me my diploma! I've started working on Vivaldi's violin concertos. They connect me to Venice some. Do you get to go to concerts? If you do, please send me the programs as keepsakes. Mom and Dad are fine. They keep worrying about how things are going in Viet-Nam and participating in stop-the-war meetings. Dad is sick thinking that you, then I, can get drafted. As long as we're up to par with our grades, no worry, he says. I best not think about it or I'll get upset too. Can't wait for your next letter! I've got your picture on my desk. It's getting a bit slobbery for all the kisses it's getting! Have fun and work hard! I love you too, Julian. I love you a lot! Your briefs are going to have fun tonight! (signature) ---------- Hello Love! I too was very excited getting your letter. It had been placed on my bed, where, of course, it should be! It was smiling at me, just laying there, when I came back this afternoon. I nearly wept myself, reading your wonderful words, knowing that your hand had touched the paper I was holding in mine. I doubt my briefs smell of anything other than the scent your own precious spunk, my darling thief. Enjoy! You'll find in this envelope a delicate handkerchief I've prepared only for you after having read about your flattering misdeed. You'll recognize the smell and appreciate the abstract stain pattern I composed, covering my cock with it in one hand and dreaming of you, pressing your letter against my heart with the other. I was at a concert night before last. It was held in the Conservatory by the students and was fantastic. They didn't hand out any program and it was free, so no ticket, but of course I thought of you. I could really picture you playing there with the other kids. I'm not worried about your exams and to be totally honest, I'm not too upset to not attend the graduation ceremony. I wasn't really happy in Lane and going back could stir up some very bad memories with some of the faculty that I'm sure are still there. I'll tell you about it once you're up and out and no longer have any ties there. Over here, the students are just as active if not more so than back home against the American presence in Viet-Nam. Just being exposed to the European people my (our) age is very stimulating. I realize how protected we are in Charlottesville. Only two years ago, France, Italy, Czechoslovakia were in revolutionary upheaval and you can still feel the critical spirit still alive. I'm really upset too about how the Viet-Nam issue is evolving. If I or we have to go, I don't know what I'll do. I just don't want to think about it. However, Dad's right and I'm glad it's talked about at home. Here, my work is progressing. There's something new, however. I'm taking courses on how to use the Venetian language. I found a great teacher and am enjoying every lesson. Since I hear the 'dialect' spoken all the time, I'm starting to even use a few expressions. Most of the documents I'm consulting are written in Venetian. Before being annexed to Italy, the Republic of Venice was an independent country, with it's own language. I never realized that all the plays written by Goldoni were not in Italian. When I'm not buried in my books, I stroll all over the place. I'm getting less lost now and am starting to feel the differences between the various parts of town. But whatever I'm doing, I miss you SOOOOO MUCH! I'm writing to Dad and Mom asking them to send you over for my last month and we'll stay here even a bit longer just for the fun. I really want you to see this place! I hope you haven't other plans! We'll go down to visit our grandparents too. Rome is far from Venice and I just can't take the time to go for the time being. I've talked to them on the phone and they understand. I hope Mom has spoken with them since! If you can, give me a phone appointment and I'll call. Remember the six hour time delay. If it's convenient for you to get my call at 3:30 PM that would be the best time. I can use the phone here at 9:30 PM, but later would be a problem. I could go on and on writing to you, my wonderful Alan. I feel you so close to me while I'm typing these pages. Just remember how much you mean to me and pray that Dad and Mom agree to send you over as an extra graduation present! My letter to them is leaving tomorrow, at the same time as this one flies on jet wings to slip into your hands and heart. I hold you tight in my arms, brother-lover. I'm yours forever! (signature) ---------- JULIAN, THEY SAID YES! I'm coming to Venice and we're going to live together, just you and I. Do you hear that? We're going to STAY together. And guess what, Mom called grandfather and he's paying half my fare as a graduation present. It's going to be royal! I nearly peed in my pants when they announced the news. In fact, Mom got your letter in the morning. She called Dad and they agreed to send me, saying that it was really kind of you to invite me! So, picture this : When I opened the door and was on my way up to my room, Mom called out and stopped me. So I stopped and looked back at her. She was at the foot of the stairs, holding a letter in her hand saying, "Your brother wants you to come visit him in Venice and I think that's a great idea. Your Dad does too. Do you want to go?" I screamed YES! Jumped down the steps and hugged her so tight that she struggled to break my grip exclaiming, "Calmati amore, calm down!" Then she handed me your letter and I ran upstairs and ripped it open. You talk about a whirlwind of emotions! That handkerchief you 'painted' nearly blew my mind... before it makes me blow a load or two or three also! Ha! THANK YOU! I knew you enjoyed making it for me! I just took a deep breath! Whew! Now that I'm back to earth (almost), let's have our little visit. I wasn't aware that you had a tough time in high school. Was it the art teacher, Mr. Hines who bothered you. He's always asking me about how you're doing in a rather curt and stupid manner. He sort of makes me sick with that sticky smile and eternally dirty nails. It's a pity. If it wasn't for him I think I'd really get involved in art. Thank goodness, music fills all my needs for self-expression! I'm really happy that I'm going to be so busy until I'm leaving to join you. That's going to make time go by faster! I'm SO EXITED! I'm not even thinking about graduation any more! Sure, I'll go to the parties and do all I'm supposed to do, but to be perfectly frank, my heart isn't in it... It's with you! Listen, no need to call. Letters are so much better. You don't have to hang up when the call is over. Hanging up makes me feel so empty! When I read and read again your letters, it's never really over. There's always something left and I think about my answer. Sure, I don't write all that I think about. It would take all my time! But just thinking about it brings me closer to you than any phone call could do! Thanks anyway. That's really thoughtful! As soon as I have my flight plans, I'll send you a copy! YOUPEE! Can you believe I just wrote that?! Keep the bed warm for me! Soon I'll be in it with you! I LOVE YOU! (signature) ---------- Alan, the Magnificent! Your letters really make my day! They are so full of life... So full of YOU! And now I can look forward to your coming! Our family is really great! I knew that our grandfather was a rather well-to-do lawyer, but being a full fledged socialist, I wouldn't have thought he would spend his money on capitalistic airplane tickets. A third class boat ticket would be more of his style. I'm sure he does that because it's just for you, you beautiful rascal! I've already started planning things to do together and to see when you get here. It's going to be great seeing the city now through your eyes. I've also some new activities along with my research work. I joined a rowing club and am taking lessons on how to do the 'voga veneta' and the 'voga all valesana'. You'll see! It's rowing standing up, facing the bow, like Madison said. Do you remember? He talked about it on the canoe trip. Wonderful exercise! Better than paddling a canoe! I'm thinking about buying a little used boat to go exploring around the back islands beyond Torcello. That's where the ancient cities were : Ammiana and Costanziaco . The guys here at the club said they'd help me look for a decent buy saying that I could always resell it when I leave. I feel it's a must for my research. I'm jotting down the concerts that are programed next month so that we can enjoy some fine music together too! We are going to have a blast, Alan! I feel it already! You're right about the telephone. I feel the same way, and I couldn't see myself shouting in the receiver 'I love you!' with everybody in the restaurant hearing me. The phone is useful when there's an urgency... but even then a telegram could do the job! Getting back to high school, yes, it was Hines who turned my senior year into hell! He asked me to pose for him saying I looked like a model for Michelangelo's paintings and when I gave in and was standing in front of him, naked as a jaybird, in the art room, he started to feel me up. As you know, I don't mind being nude and even being touched, but only if it's heartfelt. He was so lewd and smelled so foul, I wanted to puke. I didn't want him to touch me AT ALL! So I told him to stop. He rudely insisted. I slapped his hand off me and grabbed my clothes, getting really riled up and angry. For the first time, here I was, disrespectful of a teacher, but he had gone rampant. I threatened to hit him and make a scandal if he didn't leave me alone and unlock the door so I could escape. I felt sick! After that, he ignored me and spread some stupid gossip among the other teachers concerning me. Fortunately, no one paid him any attention. He ruined my senior year. Besides that, high school was a bore for me also not only because of that incident. I have always been a kind of misfit, never into sports nor girls, just being perfectly happy browsing around in the library, hanging out with a few other loners like me and sharing my life with you. You have always been my best friend... and now you're even much more. I'm going to run off to the central post office to get this letter on its way as soon as possible! I LOVE YOU TOO! (signature) ---------- My Wonderful Julian! Exams and graduation exercise and figuring out what to carry with me all at the same time keep me more than busy. I take out time for you, but since I know we'll be together very soon, I don't seem to have much to say other than I CAN'T WAIT! My flight plan is enclosed. It's the same you took : Dulles-Heathrow-Marco Polo. I hope I won't be too much in a coma when I land! Mom is loading me with things for you and for the grandparents. I have to keep her under control otherwise I won't be able to carry all the weight. I'll be loaded down with travelers' cheques too. We're going to be rich. Thank God Mom has the girls to look after. With both of us gone, poor Dad! He's the only guy she has to boss around with us out of the house! Ha! So, my love, tomorrow is the big day! Lane High School, Adieu, Good-bye, Arrivederci! and for me, Buongiorno Venezia, Hello Venice, Bonjour Venise! and above all, Hello YOU! That's the greatest event on my agenda! You don't have to hire a band and roll out the red carpet for my arrival. Let's be fashionably discreet! It's going to be hard to refrain from kissing you in front of God and everybody, but I'll manage... that is, if you help me! So there goes the last letter! I hope I don't have to buy an extra stamp for overweight with all the kisses that go with it! How great it is to type the following words : SEE YOU SOON! (signature) ---------- POSTE ITALIANE SERVICIO TELEGRAMMA INTERNAZIONALE DESTINATARIO - ALAN WILKES, 1489 RUGBY ROAD, CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. STATI UNITI CANNOT WAIT EITHER STOP WILL BE AT THE AIRPORT STOP HAVE A SAFE FLIGHT STOP LOVE JULIAN ---------- The morning Alan was due to arrive, he got up really early, cleaned everything and changed the sheets. He even went to buy a little bouquet at the flower shop near San Barnaba to cheer up room even more. It was a perfectly beautiful spring morning. After having scrubbed himself from head to toe in the shower, shaved and styled his hair, checking himself over and over in the mirror, he dashed down the stairs, reminded Midi that his brother was coming and ran to Piazzale Roma to catch the shuttle bus to the airport. He reached the Arrival hall way ahead of time to see that he had to wait even longer. The flight from London was announced with a delay of twenty minutes. "Twenty minutes isn't really that long," Julian said to himself to relieve some of his disappointment. He paced up and down, smoked a cigarette and paced some more. Finally he heard over the loud speaker that the flight from London had landed. He had to wait now even longer as Alan claimed his bags, cleared customs and passport control. When the first passengers started coming out, he stood well in view at the gate. He felt his heart beating as cold sweat dripped from his pits. Then there he was! He looked even taller than before, more assured. He hadn't really changed. It was Julian's way of seeing him that made Alan look more grown up and he was simply gorgeous! When Alan saw Julian, he pushed the trolly loaded with bags straight down on Julian as if to run him down, then he pulled it to a halt and almost tackled his brother, nearly knocking him over. Julian was smiling like a moron, with tears of joy streaming down his cheeks as Alan just giggled, happy as puppy, hugging his brother breathless. The other passengers smiled, rushing on their way around them. The brothers exchanged several stupid remarks as they made their way to the 'Speed Boats to Venice' landing. "Good flight?" "Yeah, but the food was horrible." "That's what I found too." "How's everybody?" "Fine. They send you a big hug..." Finally they arrived and boarded the first boat available. Off they sped, much to Alan's delight, standing close to Julian in the rear, behind the cabin, face and hair in the wind. They suddenly released all restraint and kissed like the lovers they were, having repressed the urge since their encounter! "Ah! That's much better!" exclaimed Alan as he licked his lips and held Julian tight by the waist. As they entered the Grand Canal, Alan was absolutely speechless. When they finally tied up in front of Montin's, Julian simply said, "Hey, snap out of it! You're now at your new home!" Alan flashed him a fabulous smile and jumped up on the quay to handle the bags. Once the driver was given his due, they went inside. Midi greeted Alan as if he were her long gone son, saying the same thing she said to Julian when he first arrived, "Go wash up and come down to eat!" They carried Alan's bags up to the room. Alan was so thrilled that he simply dropped the bag he was tugging right in the middle of the room, went to the window, turned and hugged his brother again. "Listen, you'll unpack later. Go take a shower. Were going to have lunch and then I think it will be time to indulge in a nice long nap... together! What do you say?" "I say, YES!" exclaimed Alan, and with an irresistible smile across his lovely face, he whined, "But come and wash my back first... Pleeeease...". ---------- Alan ate like a famished tiger, exclaiming that everything was absolutely delicious! After dessert and coffee, Alan looked over at Julian and squeezed his hand. "I'd really appreciate a nap now..." They went up to the room, locked the door, hugged and went on either side of the bed. Alan pulled back the covers as Julian closed the curtains. They ripped off their clothes and dove in between the sheets caught up in a turbulent whirl of lust and love. They kissed with impatient tongues curling together. They grabbed each other's cock and stroked, teasing the locks of their pubes and wound up swallowing, licking, humming and sucking each other as they spiraled, in the tousled sheets. They kneaded each other's buttocks and bobbed their heads for all they were worth, until they stiffened, writhing and gushing together, whimpering as they drank each other's offering of semen. Little by little, their frantic heartbeats calmed and their breath fell back to normal. Beaming, they held each other, eyes glistening, locked in love's complete surrender. Julian pushed aside a curl stuck on Alan's sweaty brow. A gentle hush fell in the room as the clouds darkened the afternoon sun. The light had dwindled to just a cool bluish glow through the light curtains slightly wavering in the needed breeze. Jet lag was taking its toll. Alan pulled the sheets up as they snuggled underneath, tired and entwined, swamped, content. Julian gently caressed Alan's cheek. The lad sighed, contented and abandoned in the tender caring gaze of his big brother, he slowly dozed off. ---------- Julian and Alan were inseparable for the following days. They had moments of indulging in the 'remember when' game, evoking fun moments growing up together, some not-much-fun moments too, even some secret childhood grievances were exposed, vanishing as soon as said in the warmth of their deepening intimacy. They went sightseeing, having fun discovering Venice and getting lost in the city's tangle of canals, squares and hidden alleyways. They wandered everywhere and when they came back to Montin's, they enjoyed a meal in the garden, followed by making love late into the night. Other than a promised concert, they felt no need to go out looking for entertainment. In fact there was very little night life in Venice. Their own night life was more than satisfying, fulfilling them with a sense of dedication and purpose as if they knew, deep down inside, that they were embarked together on a creative, yet undefinable adventure. One evening, as Alan was practicing his violin, playing something by Vivaldi, Midi came up and knocked on the door. Julian immediately opened, asking, "Is Alan making too much noise for the guests dining in the garden. I'm sorry, we kept the window open because of the heat." "On the contrary! I came up to ask if your brother could come down and give us a little serenade?" By then, Alan had come over and heard Midi's request. "I'd be flattered, Signora Midi," perked up Alan has he blushed. "Can I come in my bermudas and tee-shirt?" "You could come naked if you want. Your beauty dresses you, anyway you are!" All three broke up laughing as Julian added, "You're quite right, Signora Midi!" The serenade was a fabulous success and gave Alan the boost of self-confidence he needed and never had in Charlottesville. Once they were back in bed, Alan snuggled up to Julian and whispered, "I think I'm going to cry again in your arms, Julian. But for other reasons this time! I'm too happy here. Here in Montin's, in Venice and in bed, wrapped in your arms! How are we going to make it last?" "I guess we just have to live each day as it comes and if our destiny is here, we'll just keep on living like life wants us to live..." "That's a bit over my head, Julian," giggled Alan as he slid under the sheet and nursed on Alan's cock as it instantly became generously wet and rock hard... ---------- Julian introduced his brother to the people he had met not only in the Institute but also his Venetian language teacher and some other students from the nearby university. He was introduced also to the gang at the rowing club. The man in charge of the upkeep of the boats told Julian that a guy over on the island of Burano had proposed to sell him a sandalo, a typical, rakish craft, in the pure Venetian tradition. Apparently, it was in very good shape and not too expensive. The club having no need of it turned down the offer, but told the owner that he knew a person looking for a boat and to hold on to it for a few days. The fellow jotted the phone number on a piece of paper and gave it to Julian who immediately thanked the man for the information and went to a pay phone to call Burano. They agreed on meeting the same afternoon. The deal, mooring rights included, was sealed in less than an hour. There they were, two brothers in Venice, with their own boat! It only took Alan a few hours to learn how to handle the forward oar. ---------- When their train finally pulled into the Roma Termini train station, Julian and Alan were greeted like princes by their grandparents. It would be difficult to say who was more excited, the boys or the elders. The taxi to their very elegant apartment on the Piazza Navona was a shock in contrast to the peace and quiet of Venice. The horribly boisterous traffic, the narrow streets swarming with all kinds of people, scooters and whatever seemed to be total chaos for those who weren't accustomed to it. Once inside the apartment, all was calm, full of light with a fabulous view on the piazza. There was a lot of love in the air with the two grandsons, together with their grandparents! Everyone felt that it was such a rare occasion! They were shown to their room and after having freshened up, all four went out to dine in a nearby restaurant. They talked about everything in a very disorderly way, which both boys found delightful. It changed from the more sedate Virginian or Venetian art of organized conversation. The next day, they went on a visit to the Museum of the Vatican. "It's funny, I didn't remember Rome like this from the last time I was here," commented Julian. "You've grown since then. Things seem to change, but the things haven't really changed that much. It's you who have changed!" replied their grandmother. "I realize that a lot with Alan!" acknowledged Julian. "And I with you both!" jested their grandfather, holding them by the shoulders. Spirits were high on the walk back home. When they were back to the apartment, there was a message on the telephone's answering machine. It was the boys' mother saying that they must call back immediately. Julian placed the call and his father answered. "Listen son, I'm really upset. We received a letter from the local draft board addressed to you and we opened it. You are supposed to turn in for selection as soon as you return." Julian became pale. "Hello! Hello! You still there, son?" "Yes, Dad. It's just that I'm a bit stunned... What am I going to do? I will not go off to their bloody, goddamned war, Dad! Never." "No you won't son. We'll find a solution." In between time, the grandparents and Alan gathered by the phone in Rome and Mom was on the other line in Charlottesville. On both sides of the Atlantic, a spontaneous huddle of resistance, formed by the boys' family, became a major international cause. More stupidly useless deaths in Viet-Nam must be avoided! How great thou art, America... Bullshit! In spite of all the emotions at first, little by little a very simple plan arose. Neither of the boys were yet 21, the age at which it was stipulated by law that they could choose either the nationality of their father, American, or that of their MOTHER, who was still Italian at the time of their birth. Somewhere they were registered in the Italian administration. Now the question was where? That's when grandfather's legal skills kicked in. After three long calls back and forth, ringing up a small fortune on the phone bill, the affair was settled. The boys were to become Italian, relinquish their American passports, stay safe and sound in Venice until their Italian papers came through, procure new passports and identity cards and the question was settled. "And what about the draft in Italy? That means we'll have to do that, even if there's no war," commented Julian. "Don't worry about that, my loving boy. I know enough people in the right places to have you both avoid that minor inconvenience. I think you have better things to do than waste your time disguised in a uniform!" slyly replied grandfather. Grandmother had already turned in leaving just the menfolk still up. Local time in Rome showed close to 3 o'clock in the morning when grandfather filled three glasses of grappa for them to lift, toasting to the magical turn of events. Julian gave Alan a quick peck on the lips and they all broke out laughing as grandfather stated, "Go ahead and enjoy a good kiss! I'm sure your guardian angels approve of a little celestial incest!" ---------- In the train on their way back to Venice, they talked about how suddenly their lives had changed. There was a lot of details to handle but that didn't bother them. "Are you upset about no longer being a good old-red-white-and-blue-apple-pie American, Alan?" He just laughed, smiling at his brother, "And you, my wonderful misfit? I haven't seen you shed a single tear, missing out on all the advantages of being a citizen of the strongest war-monger on earth." "It's funny, but ever since I've been away, I haven't missed the States at all. I even found myself involved in a kind of waking-up-to-truth thing, being away from the brain warping way America has to cover up its lies and its evils. I overheard guys criticizing, for very valid reasons, the American way of life, the way we... No let's start again, the way THEY bully the world bragging about how great they are, how superior they are with their shotguns in the back of their pickup trucks, a coon tail hanging from the rear view mirror." "And the so called 'classy' teen socialites falling into the pool, at Farmington Country Club, so pissed drunk and shitty faced out of their minds that they can't keep on their feet, as they brag, lying with every breath, about all the pussy they've had... fist pussy that is, to be honest!" "What's the use, all the power, the outrageous money in the hands of a clique of filthy rich crooks? You know, Alan, I fear that in fifty years from now, America will be in really deep trouble. By 2020, if things keep on going like they do now, you'll find a fascist asshole sitting in the White House and thousands of ignorant assholes fucking up what's left of the American dream." "Turning it into the American nightmare..." "Let's talk about something else." ---------- It didn't take them long to get used to the idea of being Venetian. They immediately had their return tickets reimbursed. They began the process of getting papers claiming their Italian citizenship. They went to the American Consulate Agency to sign the papers giving up their American nationality and handing over their passports. "Did you see how that Yankee Barbie doll with glasses looked at us when we said we came to hand over our passport? She almost passed out as we insisted she start the procedure. The look on her face was priceless, absolutely hilarious. She just couldn't understand us!" commented Alan to Julian as they walked back home. Julian asked around at the Institute and at Montin's if they knew of a house or an apartment to rent. Midi sent them to an address in San Polo, the parish of San Cassian to be exact, to check out a little red house which would be available in a few days. They went and looked at it, talked to the owner and signed the rental lease all in the same afternoon. The people in it were moving out in one week. In between time, they decided to go camping on the out island of the Cura in the north of the "laguna", on the land of Costanziaco. Once back at Montin's they informed Midi of their plans and asked her to tell them how much they owe for this last week. She said, "Whatever happens, you'll always be at home here! I'll add up your bill tomorrow. There's no rush!" "Our parents and twin sisters are coming over the third week of August to see us. Can they lodge here?" "Of course, my treasures, no problem!" ---------- The immensity of the flat islands, marshlands and channels of the northern part of the laguna impressed them both as they rowed beyond Burano and Torcello. The enchantment of knowing that there used to be a prosperous city there, where now only reeds, tamarisk, mulberry bushes and stone banked deserted islands share the shallow waters. In the ninth century, the thriving city commerced with the orient, opening circuits of trade and skills which gave the inhabitants the background to build a fabulous civilization a little further away, the Republic of Venice. Thinking about all that carried their imagination away. The island of the Cura had a gushing artesian spring which constantly flowed, giving them all the sweet water they could ever need. They pitched their tent near the edge of the water where the mosquitos shunned the breeze off the water. After supper, the fire they had kindled burned on, they reclined in the tall grass strewn with some small wildflowers. They gazed at the sky as the passing clouds became pastel and the velvet hours fainted into total darkness, revealing a vault of glimmering stars above them. Alan turned facing Julian, stretched out his hand and uttered as he touched his brother's fuzzy cheek, "Julian, I want you inside me." "And what if I wanted you inside of me?" whispered Julian. "It's how you want. I love it when you decide for me!" laughed Alan as he rolled over on Julian, pinning him on the ground. "Well, since you asked, I'll cum in you first, but I too must have you in me tonight! Do you want us to go into the tent?" "Oh no! All the stars in the sky must witness this magic moment! I love you so, Julian! It makes me burn inside. Hurry and get the olive oil. I've never done this so let's take it easy." "It's a big, first time for us both. We'll take all night if we have to. It must be special, Alan!" "That's it! Special, celestial, heavenly, starstruck, love! Oh! come on brother! Let's fuck!" If we rid ourselves of fear, nature has a wonderful way to make things happen gracefully. Alan deftly anointed Julian's trembling cock and slowly lowered himself on it as he sat on his lap. They held each other tight. They kissed, swooned and swayed, taking their time as Alan reveled in the glow of Julian's throbs deepening slowly inside him. Julian pulsed his cock, gently stirring Alan's wanton flesh as he was being absorbed until the inevitable eruption. When Julian suddenly threw his head back, his savage howl echoed over the waters. Alan trembled, vibrating in a clenched dance of lust, siphoning with his colon each of his brother's ejaculations. Julian fell back as Alan collapsed on him. The fire continued to crackle. Alan slid off Julian's limp cock and rolled over on his back, gazing into the night. He took his brother's hand. Julian snuggled up and whispered, "Whenever you're ready, I am too..." "With the next shooting star, you're going to have me in you!" Suddenly like a bouquet of fireworks, the sky streaked with a shower of shooting stars! Both of the brothers laughed as Julian grabbed the bottle of oil and began anointing Alan's impatient, young cock. Once their needs were taken care of, they didn't even bother to dress. They put more wood on the already generous campfire. The flames danced in the midnight breeze as Julian spoke up saying, "Alan, time is just a dream, a sediment of a thousand million memories sleeping beneath the mirror of the waters. We are a part of that dream. How else can be explained what we live other than just bowing to the evidence that it was simply meant to be." "Do you remember, Julian? In the cabin on the Shenandoah, we promised to come back, just the two of us to consummate our love in the simple purity of nature. We've kept our promise somehow, only elsewhere." As Alan spoke, Julian stood and grasped a handful of grass where upon they had melded together and cast it into the flames, like an offering to some hidden divinity blessing their celestial incest. ---------- Epilogue Julian and Alan moved into their little red home and started keeping house with just the bare essentials, for simplicity's sake. Their family came for visits. With their Italian passports they went back to Charlottesville for special occasions like Christmas or their sisters' graduation and later on, marriages. Then they returned home to Venice. Alan studied in the conservatory of music and Julian was requested to hold seminars on the history of Constaziaco. They finished by buying the little red house. Later on, Julian finished his degree and went on to write his PhD thesis at Ca'Foscari, the university of Venice, where he was named Professor two years later. Alan played first violin in the Barocco Chamber Orchestra of Venice . So after all, their 'celestial incest' was never more than just a deeply pure and simple love, just like any sacredly simple love can be. ---------- Free photos (pdf) from this story are available upon request at marin.giustinian@laposte.net
