Chapter 10 Charlie couldn't sleep. He still felt Justin's lips on his. He didn't know why he did it. Justin had been so kind and looked out for him in ways that nobody had since his mom was arrested. He felt his phone vibrating in his pocket. It was a text from Justin. "Hi. Are you okay? Are you mad at me?" Charlie didn't think he was okay, but he wasn't mad at Justin. He was upset with himself, but he still didn't know why. He liked Justin a lot, but he couldn't grasp why it was bugging him so much. When Ry came in for their cuddle session, Charlie pretended to be asleep. He almost burst out in tears when Ry gave him a small hug and kiss on the head. The next couple of days were a blur. Justin came by to drop Billy off. He tried talking to Charlie, but the younger boy made an excuse to leave the room. They saw each other a couple more times, but Justin didn't make any further efforts to talk to Charlie, which also hurt the boy's feelings. He wasn't ready to talk to Justin, but he didn't want Justin to ignore him, either. The late August heat was at an all-time high as temperatures reached over 100 degrees. School was supposed to start in about two weeks, and Rick had fallen behind on all the shopping. He sent Billy and Ry with some money to do their own shopping for clothes and supplies. Justin offered to drive Billy and Ry, which Ry reluctantly agreed to. This left Rick and Charlie. Charlie was happy that he finally got to spend some alone time with his dad. He couldn't remember the last time it had happened. They arrived at a nearby, big-box, department store. Charlie's heart sank when he saw an all-too-familiar car; Brenda waved as she got out of the driver's seat. "What is she doing here?" Charlie asked bitterly. "I asked Brenda to meet us here," Rick said. He was exhausted with all the conflict between his youngest son and girlfriend, and hoped that a day together would help show Charlie that Brenda wasn't as bad as he kept thinking. "After we get your things, I thought we'd grab some lunch; just the three of us." "I'm not hungry," Charlie said, definitely. "Charlie," Rick said, trying to hide his irritation with a heavy sigh, "I get that you're having problems with Brenda. I get it, but at some point, you need to give her a chance. She doesn't mean you any harm." Sensing Charlie's thoughts, Rick added, "She's not trying to replace you mom." "You don't hear how she talks to me. You ignore how she makes me feel; all of you do. Only Justin sees it, and that's why he stood up for me." "I had a talk with Justin and Brenda about that, and I think it was just a misunderstanding--" "--See!" Charlie nearly shouted. "You always take her side! I said she was being mean and Justin said the same thing, and you don't believe us!" Fed up with the whole situation, Rick decided to negotiate. "Fine, how about this? After we take you shopping, if you still don't want to go to lunch, I'll drop you off at the house. Deal?" Charlie wanted to go home and not bother with shopping at all, but he agreed to his father's terms. Charlie got out of the truck and walked past Brenda without saying a word. Brenda said to Rick, "I take it he's not thrilled I'm here." "No," Rick said, sarcastically. "What would give you that impression?" "I can always leave and meet you later." Rick took Brenda by the hand and said, "No, he's going to have to learn that he can't always get his way." With that, they walked into the store. The first stop was the shoe department. Charlie was hard on shoes. He was a lazy walker and often shuffled his feet and wore holes in the soles of his shoes faster than even Ry. Charlie was also going through a growth spurt, so Rick got him two pairs of size 6s. Brenda bent down to feel the ends of Charlie's shoes to make sure there was enough room for his toes. Charlie began to protest but quelled by his father's firm gaze. Charlie picked out some socks with his favorite cartoon characters on them. Brenda suggested that Charlie should get some "normal" socks, so the kids wouldn't pick on him. Charlie held his tongue. He was already feeling picked on by her, but he wanted to get the trip done and over with. Next, Charlie grabbed a couple pairs of pants, some shirts and a couple packs of underwear. He normally wore briefs, but he thought he would try boxers or boxer-briefs; after all, the older boys and adults in his life didn't wear briefs...except Justin. The image of Justin in his tight, blue briefs stirred up more anxious feelings. Rick sent Charlie into a changing room to try on the items. The old lady at the counter escorted the young boy down a small hall, with booths that only had curtains instead of solid doors. He didn't like the idea of being that exposed, but he didn't see anybody else back there. Charlie took off his own clothing and stood naked facing the tall mirror in the booth. He had never really looked at himself fully naked before. His chubby belly stuck out a bit and his chest was a little meaty. He thought he needed a haircut, as well. Charlie then turned his eyes to his genitals. There was no hair, as he hadn't started puberty yet. Thinking back to Justin's penis and testicles, Charlie's appeared very small. He reached down and started pulling back his foreskin and revealing a little bit of the tip inside, stopping when he felt pain. His little dick got hard at the motion, doubling in size. He noticed that it felt good and did it a little bit more, before feeling his balls. The scrotum was tight and pulled up to his body. Justin's had been hanging down, and Charlie wondered if the hair on them made them drop down. He turned in the mirror and looked at his backside. His ass was plump and almost toned, again nothing like Justin's firm, slightly fuzzy ass. Charlie, his baby boner still at attention, grabbed a package of boxer-briefs and pulled them open. Suddenly, the curtain was hastily pulled open. Charlie let out a scream when he saw Brenda standing in the meek doorway. "Get out!" He shouted. "I thought you could use a hand," Brenda said, casually. Charlie covered himself and fell against the mirror. "Get out!" He yelled once more. "Shop shouting," Brenda ordered. "You'll get security called." "I don't care! Get out! Dad!" "Seriously, Charlie," Brenda said, showing her frustration. "It's not like I haven't seen a boy naked before. It's part of my job." "GET OUT!" Charlie screamed as loud as he could, breaking his voice. "What's the problem here?" The old lady said, as she came upon the scene. "It's nothing to worry about," Brenda said, hastily. "I'm his stepmother." "NO YOU'RE NOT!" Charlie screamed again. The clerk saw the pain and desperation on Charlie's face. She was a mother of five and a grandmother of 18, and had seen children in his state before and knew he was telling the truth. To Brenda she said politely but firmly, "Ma'am, I need you to leave the area immediately." "There's no reason to be like this," Brenda said to Charlie. "Get out!" Charlie cried, falling to the carpeted floor, hard sobbing. "Ma'am, leave now or I'm calling security," the grandmother demanded, not so politely. "Call security," Brenda said defiantly. "I've done nothing wrong." The clerk got on her radio and called for the manager and security, citing a woman sexually harassing a small child in the changing rooms. Brenda protested at that point. Rick had come out of the restroom when he saw three armed security guards running towards the clothing department. Must be a shoplifter, he thought as he strolled back to the changing rooms. He was shocked when he saw Brenda surrounded by guards. "What's going on?" He asked his girlfriend. "About fucking time," She snapped at him. "The old hag behind the counter has accused me of sexually harassing Charlie." "What?" Rick asked, horribly perplexed. The store manager explained the situation. Rick felt embarrassed and sick to his stomach. He explained Brenda's relationship to Charlie and the problems they had been having. The manager recited the store's policies and felt that Brenda's behavior warranted her banning from the store. Brenda and Rick protested, but the manager said that he didn't care. Brenda should've left when Charlie told her to, and he didn't believe Brenda's story, since she lied about being Charlie's stepmother once she was caught. Brenda was escorted out of the store and told to leave the property before the police were called. Rick went to the changing room and saw Charlie in his underwear, crying on an elderly woman's shoulder. "Come on, Little Man. Let's go home," he said to his son. The clerk gave Rick the stink-eye as he paid for the package of underwear Charlie opened. Charlie came out of the changing room fully dressed and wiping his face. The clerk hugged Charlie and told him he was going to be alright. Father and son exited the store in a tense silence. Charlie climbed into the truck and watched his father take several deep breaths before getting in himself. Charlie pulled out his phone. He wanted to text Ry and tell him what happened...instead he sent a text to Justin. Justin responded with a sad-face emoji and said, "I'm sorry. HUGS." Unable to keep his anger to himself, Rick said, "I'm so disappointed in you, Charles." Charlie felt his face turn red. His parents only called him by his full name when he was in serious trouble. He watched as tears fell on his phone. "I can't believe you behaved like that," Rick said. His tone was level but his disgust was apparent. "You got Brenda kicked out of the store for life. Did you know that?" Charlie sent more texts to Justin. A few quick messages stating that he was being chewed out by his dad. Justin sent several more emoji's, many of which were sad faces with tears. He didn't want to answer his father. It wasn't his fault. Brenda brought it on herself for walking in on him. Charlie didn't see the point in trying to explain his side; Rick only ever believed Brenda anyway. "Are you going to answer me or do I have to throw your phone out the window?" Rick snapped. "No," Charlie said, sheepishly, putting his phone in his pocket. "So you didn't know that Brenda was kicked out of the store?" "No." "Well she was, so I hope you're happy." "I'm not happy," Charlie said, with great earnestness, trying his hardest to not cry. He didn't want to give his father the satisfaction. "You could've fooled me. You embarrassed her and me." Unable to stop himself, though already knowing better, Charlie pleaded, "She walked in on me while I was naked! And she wouldn't leave! Even the woman there told her to leave and Brenda wouldn't. She said she was my stepmom, so she could stay!" Rick didn't know what to say. Brenda didn't deny it when the store manager brought it up. "I don't care. We're talking about how you behaved. You didn't need to scream for security--" "I didn't!" Charlie cried in desperation, causing his voice to squeak. "Why won't you listen to me? You ALWAYS take her side!" "No I don't--" "Liar!" Charlie yelled. "You're doing it now! You don't listen to me! You always take her side! Even when other people tell you what she's like, you ignore them and take her side! I hate her and I hate you!" Even Charlie was shocked by his last statement, but he meant every word of it. He sat in his seat waiting for the blow back but it never came. Rick gripped the wheel and held his tongue. Charlie had never talked to him like that. Even when Ronda went to prison, Charlie never acted out. However, since he had been found at Ry's parent's house, his son was very emotional and a bit unstable. He was certain Charlie didn't mean what he said, but the words stung, nonetheless. ***Coming Soon, Chapter 11***
