Chapter 63 Rick and Billy woke up early. Visiting started at eight in the morning, and it was a four hour drive to the prison where Ronda was held. Charlie was very upset that he couldn't go and protested as much as he could between fits of vomiting. The seven-year-old had contracted a stomach flu from Terry (That's what he gets for talking all that mad shit when we're playing video games!), and wasn't able to travel more than a few feet from the toilet. Ry was also staying behind, which was fine with him. He barely had any interaction with Ronda prior to her arrest, nor was she part of his adoption. Lydia and Terry were looking after the boys overnight, so Rick and Billy could make most of the visiting hours. Billy noted that it would be the first time they had been all alone in a hotel since the night at the beach. His dick kept getting uncomfortably hard thinking about it. He and Ry hadn't had proper sex yet, since Ry was still in diapers and wasn't able to get an erection. Hands jobs and blow jobs were nice, but Billy longed for more. He didn't know how his dad could go so long without having sex. He couldn't go a night without having an orgasm to help him sleep. It was still dark when Rick started the truck. Billy quickly fell asleep as they pulled onto the highway heading south. Rick woke Billy up around seven after pulling into the parking lot of a roadside diner. Billy loved these little places. They all smelled the same: Coffee, fried potatoes, bacon and eggs. His stomach growled as they were seated. Everything looked good, even pancakes, which he didn't care much for normally. "Can I get you started with some coffee," the waitress said to Rick, holding a fresh pot. "Yes, please," Billy said, turning his cup over. Rick put his hand over his son's cup and said, "I'll have some coffee, and my son will have an orange juice." "Why can't I have coffee?" Billy asked. "You're not old enough." The waitress said, "Coffee stunts your growth and puts hair on your chest." "I want a hairy chest, though," Billy said, pulling down his t-shirt enough to expose the sparse hairs he had already grown. "But, you're already too short as it is," Rick said, taking the wind out of Billy's sails. The waitress laughed and went to the counter. After a few minutes, she returned to take their orders. Rick had their corned beef hash and hashbrowns, and Billy had scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and extra sausage. Once the waitress left again, Billy asked, "Are we getting a room before we see mom?" "I already booked the room, so we're going to go straight to the prison," Rick said, sipping his coffee. "I was thinking," Billy said, with a hint of hesitation, "maybe I should tell Mom about my name change tomorrow. That way, we can have at least one good visit." "That might work," Rick said. "But, this better not be a way of putting it off." "No," Billy said. "You're right. She needs to know, but what's the point of coming here and making her mad on the first day? It would be a complete waste of time." "Alright, but, I don't think all of it will be a waste," Rick said, with a wink that made his son smile and blush. The prison was in the middle of nowhere. The nearest town was about ten miles away. Billy assumed it was to discourage the women from escaping. As they approached, he saw fences topped with what Rick called razor wire and barbed wire. Rick also pointed out that the fence was electric, so anyone who touched it would get shocked really bad. They followed the signs to the visitor parking area. After making sure their bags were secure (the signs warned of theft), they walked into the visitor entrance. The check-in lobby was rather small. There were no seats, only a desk, a metal detector and a coin machine. The walls were an off-white, which reminded Billy of a doctor's office. There were three guards wearing gray uniforms; one was checking people in and the other two searched the visitors before they passed through the metal detectors. "Next," the guard at the desk said, without looking away from the computer monitor. "Hi," Rick said, "We're here to see Ronda Wells." "How many in your party?" the guard asked. "Two: My son and I." "How old is the minor?" "Twelve." "How is he related to Inmate Wells?" "She's his mother." "I need identification for both of you," the guard said. Rick gave her his driver's license and Billy's school ID along with his birth certificate. The guard entered Rick's information, but looked confused at the birth certificate. "Sir," she said, "According to this document, you're not listed as the boy's father." "I recently adopted Billy--" Rick started. "Who's Billy?" The guard asked with an attitude. "Sorry, Kyle. He legally changed his name two weeks ago, and we haven't received his new documents from the state yet." The guard gave a hissing sigh, as if Rick had just ruined her week. "Do you have any documents proving you're the boy's guardian?" "Yeah, in the truck. I'll get them." He returned with several orders from the court, including Billy's name change. The guard looked very put off by the inconvenience. Fifteen minutes later, Rick and Billy were patted down--the guard searching Billy was a little too touchy-feely, especially around his groin--and sent through the metal detector. The visiting room itself was large and had rows of tables. It looked only a little better than the smaller room they were just in. A guard on the other side of the door told Rick which table to head to, but Billy could already see the smiling face of his mother. He was very overwhelmed, as he hadn't properly seen her in over six months. "Hi, Baby," Ronda said from her seat. Billy gave his mother a brief hug, before taking his seat across from her. Between them was a small table, with a list of visiting rules on top. "How are things?" Rick asked, as he took his seat. "Better than expected," Ronda said. Billy noticed the tension between them and hoped it wouldn't be like this the entire visit. "So, what's new with you?" She asked Billy. Billy could feel his dad's gaze upon him. "I'm good. Things are better." He wasn't ready to explain everything, which didn't leave a lot to tell. He knew Rick was disappointed, but he just was ready. "Where's Charlie? Didn't he want to come?" Ronda asked Rick. "He had an upset stomach, so I left him with Lydia and Terry. I'll definitely bring him next time." The three fell back into small talk. Ronda talked about her daily routine and her orderly job. Her cellmate was named Becky and had some annoying habits but was nice, otherwise. Rick talked about work and taking care of the boys, and avoided mentioning Ry and Will. Billy talked about school and Ry, though didn't mention anything about Ry's adoption or his parents. "Would Billy Parker-Barton please report to the Officer's Station," called the guard at the door. Billy felt the blood drain from his face. He was cold with anxiety. He could also feel Rick tense up next to him. Billy kept his eyes down, since he didn't want to see the look on his mother's face. "'Billy Parker-Barton'?" Ronda asked. She sounded shocked and incredulous. Billy didn't want to leave his father hanging, but he took the opportunity to get up and leave the area. Even though they were seated about thirty feet from the desk, the walk felt long and arduous. His legs shook like jelly and his mind was swimming. When Billy finally reached the desk, the visiting officer said, "You left your documents with the other officer, so you'll need to pick them up before you leave." "You called me over just to tell me that?" Billy asked, confused and annoyed. The guard rolled his eyes and told him to sit back down. Billy huffed and turned around. He could see his parents having a very heated and hushed argument. Great, Billy thought, as he walked back. "Kyle, mind telling me what's going on?" Ronda demanded. "I told you--" Rick started in a stern tone. "--I want to hear it from him," Ronda snapped. "Well?" She asked pointedly of her son. Billy took a couple minutes to gather himself. His fears were coming true, and he had hoped to have avoided this at all cost, at least for the first visit. Finally, he said, "I changed my name. I'm Billy again." "How? Why?" Was all his mother could get out. Billy then told his mother everything. How he met his birth father, Will Parker. How Will had proved his innocence with the video that showed his grandfather--Ronda's father--was the one who abused him. How he had come to like then love his birth father as much as his adopted father. And that he was the one who chose to change his name, and nobody pressured him into it. "I can't believe this," Ronda said to Rick. "I told you to keep that man away from my son--". "--OUR son," Rick interjected. "I'm his adopted father and legal guardian. Will is his biological father, who, by the way, gave up his custody of Billy (which Rick said, pointedly) without even a fight. The only reason you weren't told about it before hand, was because you over react to everything without hearing a fucking word." "I don't over react," Ronda said. Rick snorted in derision at the irony. "You don't over react? Then explain why we're having this conversation in a fucking prison, Ronda." "For starters, my father didn't touch Kyle," Ronda said, intentionally calling her son by the name she wanted. "Yes he did. There's evidence that shows it, and I don't know if you've heard, but he's been arrested and charged." "What?!" Ronda yelled. An officer came over and told Ronda to calm down or the visit would be over, with Ronda getting a cell-in. In a much quieter voice, she said, "I don't believe you." Billy explained that the video she saw was altered by her father to look like Will had abused Billy, but the original video was backed up in Will's computer, where it stayed until he got out. Rick described the video in detail, and Ronda looked horrified. Neither father nor son was sure if she was convinced, but Ronda dropped that subject. "So, your sperm donor--" Ronda said. "Don't disrespect either of my fathers, or we're done," Billy threatened. His heart pounded at his sudden bravery, but he maintained his eye contact until Ronda backed down. Billy decided to press his advantage. "We can either have a civil conversation about all of this and everything else, or I'll leave and never see you again, even after you get out." "Kyle--" "It's Billy," he said, through clenched teeth. "Billy," Ronda unwillingly relented, "I just want to make sure you're safe. That's all I've ever wanted your entire life." "But you didn't, did you?" Billy asked, rhetorically. "Because you couldn't control your anger, you sent the wrong man to prison, you denied me the life I could've had, denied me half of my biological family, denied me my father, and now, you're rotting in a prison cell. You were willing to out me to people I didn't even know for the sake of 'protecting' me, when that would've made things so much worse! "The only good things you did, Mom, was give me my little brother and allow Dad to adopt me. You ruined my life, before I was even aware I had one." Billy said with a heavy sigh, a tear fell down his face. "Is that how you really feel?" Ronda said, in a hollow, sober shock. "It's not how I feel; it's the truth. If you had just stopped to listen to Will, he wouldn't have gone to prison for abusing me." "But he still would've gone to prison," Ronda said. "The police were already on their way to the house that night. Did he tell you that I'm the one who caught him with that girl?" Billy thought long and hard, but he didn't remember whether or not Will mentioned how his affair with the underage girl was discovered. Ronda went on, "I came home to surprise my husband and found him bed with a girl from up the street. I was friends with her mother, so I knew she was underage. I called her mother and then called the police. I was on my way up to confront Will before the police arrived and that's when I found him, video recorder in hand and you naked on the bed." "I'm not going to make excuses for my dad. He told me everything except that you turned him in. I know he didn't abuse me. I know you were wrong. I know the wrong man went to prison, and I know that soon, the right man will go away for it." "But, that's your grandfather?" "And Will was my father, so maybe you'll know what it's like to have your father go to prison." The heavy silence fell between them all. Billy noticed that a couple of the inmates and visitors nearby had been listening in on their conversation. Just to make them feel as uncomfortable as he was, Billy said, "And just so you know, Cody and I aren't seeing each other anymore. I dumped him months ago. I'm dating Ry now, and he's also my brother." "Fuck," Rick whispered. Rick told Ronda everything. The abuse Ry suffered, his parent's deaths, Charlie being found at the scene, and Will helping Rick adopt the boy. Ronda just sat stunned. Once he was done, Ronda said, "Sound like my ex-husbands make a good power couple." She didn't bother hiding her biting tone. "Don't tell me you wouldn't have taken him in," Rick spat back. "I don't know what I would've done, and I guess it doesn't matter. He's not my son, he's yours. What I can't believe is you letting Charlie get himself in that situation. I thought you were smarter than that." "I guess he takes after his mother. At least he didn't put somebody in the hospital." "Would you two stop fighting?" Billy snapped. "Is there anything else you'd like to tell me, since we're getting everything out in the open?" Aside from the fact I've been having sex with your ex-husband? Billy thought, then said aloud, "No." "Actually," Rick said, "We're moving to Washington." "What?" Ronda said. "When?" "I'm still looking for a suitable place, given Ry's disabilities, but I think we'll be moving this summer, once the boys are out of school." "But, that's like 3 hours further away!" "Two, actually, but there's a specialist in Washington; plus, better schools for all three boys. I think it's for the best." "What about me?" Ronda asked. "It'll just make it harder for you guys to visit." "Only a little, but as we agreed, Billy's visits are optional for him, and I'll bring Charlie whenever I can. Since we're on the subject, I would like to add Ry to the visitor's list, so I can bring him along and not have to leave him with someone." "Yeah, that's fine. I'd like to get to know my son's boyfriend/brother," Ronda said, with a hint of disgust at the words. The rest of the visit was tense but less dramatic. On the way back to the hotel, Rick and Billy processed everything and talked about how future visits would work. Billy wasn't sure if he wanted to see his mother anytime soon, so he didn't mention potentially seeing her the next day before they went home. Rick stopped and picked up some burgers for dinner. The hotel room was comfy and so was the bed. They ate their food at the table, and took a shower together before getting into bed. Rick pulled Billy into his arms, feeling his son's naked body against his, and asked, "Are you tired?" Billy leaned in, kissed his dad, and replied, "Nope." ***Coming Soon, Chapter 64***
