Written By The Iceman at: Chapter 2: I pulled out my cell phone and called a few old friends and in 45 minutes I had my answer his plane was at the Hialeah Airport and was in the shop for it's 500 hour maintenance and the Mr. Pauloto was registered at the Fountenblu the pent house and an old friend said that he had been there for at least 3 days. David asked "what is the number for the hotel's desk" I gave it to him and as he stood on the balcony I could hear him telling his Father-in-law if he or any of his goons came near him or any of the boys he would shoot him and after this was on record the shooting would be considered self-defense, as he came in he looked at me and said "I have a large SUV and I would like to drive you and your boys to the Airport. I smiled and said "it would be appreciated" as I said that Mike and Marty had a sad look on there face so I said "don't worry about it we will be stopping off on the way home next month and if David will have us we can stay a few days before we go home to Los Angeles" both of them smiled as did David's boys so that was that. Our flight was am afternoon flight on Air Lingus and with David's help we were at the airport an hour early so we sat and rested in the passenger lounge and the boys were working the machines in the lounge half to death, and David and I sat and talked about the places that the boys and I would be visiting he was shocked at my knowledge of Ireland and my ferocious love of my place of birth. Even though I was born in Ireland I was born an American citizen, but I still loved the beauty of the old country and its soft and lovable people that were there the flight was called Mike and Marty hugged David's boys and we boarded the aircraft 1st Class and as we settled in I realized that the 1st Class cabin was almost empty. As the boys settled in Marty wanted to sit next to me and Mike wanted the window seat so I was on the isle a seat I preferred as we lifted off the stewardess went thru the standard flight information and I totally relaxed as I did Marty lifted the arm rest and cuddled up to me and I flagged down the stew. And asked for a belt extender that way he could be almost in my lap. The aircraft we were in was a very early Boeing 747 and the cabin was posh to say the least I had my arm wrapped around Marty and the craft was climbing out to the soft blue afternoon sky Marty was as comfortable as he could be and Mike said "how high do you think we will be flying" I looked at him and said "the Captain will announce that as soon as he reaches his assigned cruising altitude" the stew. Heard me and said "do you fly" and before I could answer Marty piped up and said "my dad flew bigger planes than this in the Air Force" I smiled and said "I did". She smiled and said "how would you boys like to go up front and talk to the command crew" I smiled and said "please ask the Captain and they would love to see the cockpit" about 10 minutes later she returned and said "he would be happy to have you up there and he would like to also meet you Sir" about 5 minuted later she returned and said "he will come back and get you when the seat belt light is shut off" I smiled and thanked her and now I had two hyper boys on my hands. As we sat there I said "when we are in the cockpit both of you will touch nothing, is that understood" they both shook there heads `yes' 15 minutes later a young looking flight officer came to us and said "are you 3 ready for your cockpit tour" at that moment Marty almost jumped into his arms, I smiled and said "if you hang onto him I will bring Mike, my other son" he laughed and said "where is his collar and leash" Marty looked offended but he understood it was his fault and he wiggled to the floor and took the man's hand and the halo above his head started to glow. Mike decided after his brother made an ass of himself he was going to be good, he took my hand and we walked to the cockpit door as we reached it the officer produced a key and unlocked it and we entered, it was much nicer than the B52's that I flew in the past then again this was a passenger aircraft not a military bomber. As we stood behind the pilot and co-pilot Marty looked like he would pee his pants as the co-pilot got up and lifted Marty into his seat after he put a booster seat in it so he could still see where we were going, Marty looked back at Mike and no words were necessary in Marty's face said it all, (a small note Mike has his students pilot license, Marty didn't) and Mike could handle my Ryan Air coupe as well as I could. When Marty was lifted out and Mike was beckoned into the seat Mike showed the co-pilot his student pilots license, as he did the co-pilot looked at me and said "is that for real" I smiled and said "Yes and he logged 20 hours on our trip from California to here" he looked at Mike and said "Please accept my apology for not believing you" Mike smiled and said "but my dad has all of us beat" I laughed and said "a total of 7000 hours in every type of air craft from a 1937 Aronka both the `Brave' and the `Chief' to the C5A Heavy Lifter, plus I own a Ryan Air coupe". As the impact of what I said struck home the command pilot stood up shook my hand and said "please take my seat as I think you can handle it" I smiled and said "you are very gracious host but we have some seats in the back and these two need some sleep before we arrive at the Shannon Airport" the pilot looked at me and said "what airline will you be boarding at Shannon" now I had him "none I will have a helicopter waiting to take me to my home". His eyes were as big as they could be and he said "are you Irish" my answer was "Yes and American, my sons and I are going to visit some friends and I need to take care of some family business". The boys and I returned to our seats and after a snack with milk for the boys the command pilot came back and the boys were sound asleep and the pilot said "seriously are you Irish" I smiled and we slipped into another seat set and I answered "I was born at the Old Ground Hotel in Dublin, unfortunately it was destroyed during WWII, and I hold title to a piece of family property across the lake, Loch Lean that is, from Killarney, and basically we are on vacation". At this point the pilot was blushing, and he asked "have you been back since your birth" now he was almost stuttering and I said "this is probably my 20th trip since I was born and I spent an entire 2 summers with my Grand Mother after my 14th and 16th birthday" I smiled and he said "please return to your seat we will be landing in about 30 minutes, also please wake the boys when the `seat belt light' is turned on" we shook hands and he returned to the cockpit and I returned to my seat, and belted my self in. In about 20 minutes the seat belt light came on and I verified that Mike and Marty were awake and belted in I looked to the left side of the aircraft and I could see that the sun was coloring the sky and as we lost altitude the boys were very animated as we came to the final approach and the runway lights were in sight, Mike asked "Dad we are over a lot of water" I smiles and answered "I sure hope so we are coming in from the North Sea and the Shannon Airport is on the Shannon River" we turned a little more to the right and in a few seconds I could hear the wheel drive motors spin up the tires on the landing gear and as soft and as gentle as a feather coming in to land on a soft pillow we were on the tarmac rolling towards the passenger terminal. Marty said "Dad I thought that I could see the sun coming up" I smiled and said "that was when we were at 30,000 feet, it will come up in about 10 or 15 minutes" he still had a puzzled look but he knew enough to trust me because I would never tell him a lie. Due to the fact that we were in 1st class we were exited into the 1st class lounge and other than a man sitting with his back to us in a chair watching TV we were alone, I beckoned the boys to silence and we softly walked up behind him and I said "Sean its nice to you doing what you do best, sit around and do nothing" he jumped up and wrapped his arms around me and said "are these two ragamuffins yours" he came to be fully standing up thrust his hand out to Mike and said "your Michael and I suspect that everyone calls you Mike" at that he shook Mike's and as he did he looked at Marty and said "the last time I saw you, you had a lot less clothing on" Marty blushed big time and said "now I know another person that my dad sent that picture too", both Sean and I broke up laughing, unfortunately at Marty's expense. Marty stood and pouted and I said "Marty I would like to introduce you to your God-father" now it was Marty that had a totally confused look on his face, he stuttered and finally smiled and said "I am very glad to finally meet you" and he shook Sean's hand, and Sean said "please accept my apology for mentioning that picture but what I didn't mention I have the same kind of picture of Mike", now it was Mike's turn to howl and I looked at Sean and said "you could have kept that a secret, but I need to have copies of both pictures" at that we all laughed and Sean said "I have a charter at 09:00 so if I am going to get you three home and make that pick-up I have to get my ass in gear" we went to the baggage offload area to pick-up our luggage, and Sean was waiting with an Airport electric transport and in less that 10 minutes we were strapped into our seats in Sean's Helicopter and heading south at about 170 MPH.
