Mariner23502@hotmail.com Chapter #47 Mark and Calvin bounced down the stairs into the kitchen and received a hard look from Charles for their exuberance. Juice was already on the table. " What would you like for your breakfast, Mr. William has already eaten." They both asked for cereal and fruit and sat quietly for a few minutes" "Charles, would you fix Mark and I a small lunch? We thought we'd go riding this morning and have lunch in that small clearing by the stream Uncle William told us about." "I have already taken care of that Mr. Calvin, Mr. William mentioned that you and Mr. Mark might go riding. When are you leaving?" "As soon as we finish breakfast and speak with Uncle William about any plans for the day." "You seem rather quiet this morning Mr. Mark. Is something wrong?" "Oh no Charles, I was just about Uncle Lee and hoping he didn't have any trouble driving to Philadelphia." "I'm sure if he had, he'd call Uncle William Mark and he would have told us. He had your friend Carl with him and he would be helpful in the driving wouldn't he?" "That was the reason he was with him, that and helping Carl register for school. I know Uncle Lee was worried about being there by early last night and getting that equipment he had unloaded." William walked into the kitchen while the boys were talking and overheard Mark's concerns. "Your uncle is a pretty level headed man Mark and not prone too taking chances. I'm sure he and your friend are probably sleeping soundly this morning. Mark grinned for a second before saying, "You're probably right Uncle Bill." * * * Lee woke to the ringing of the telephone. Carl was beside him with his arm over his waist, sleeping soundly and the phone kept ringing. Trying not to disturb him, Lee reached for the phone and Carl stirred groaning. "Sorry but I got to answer the telephone. Hello, who's calling?" "Lee, George. What time you coming in, I need to talk with you?" "Let me get a quick shower George and I should be able to make it in half an hour. What's up?" "Nichols had a fit after you left. Meet me at the Starbucks on the corner and I'll tell you about it. I haven't gone in yet and I wanted to get too you before you did." "Okay, see you there." Hanging the phone up, Lee lay there for a second before getting out of bed. Carl had woke up and heard the pique in Lee's voice. "Something wrong Lee?" "Oh, morning Carl. Yeah but nothing I can't handle. Soon as I get showered and dress, I need to go in for awhile. Why don't you get yourself some breakfast in the restaurant and I should be back by noon. Tell them to put it on the room tab." "Okay Lee but I can handle breakfast, no need putting it on your room tab." Lee showered quickly and shaved. Dressed in blue slacks with a lemon yellow pull over but getting his overalls out to take with him. While he was brushing his hair, he heard a low whistle and turned from the mirror. "Damn Lee, do you always look so good? Jesus, everything you wear looks like it was made just to fit you." "Thanks for the compliment Carl. Think about what you might want to do later, we have until Monday morning after we get you registered this afternoon." "That'll be up to you, I know nothing about this town." "Okay then. Don't forget breakfast and I'll see you later." Lee left thankful he was wearing jockeys. Carl laying in the bed naked with the sheet down around his waist, the impression of his half hard cock visible was tempting and he felt his own cock swelling at the sight. His head was whirling with different thoughts as he rode down in the elevator and found the valet, asking him to bring his truck down from parking. As he waits for his truck, he sees Dalton coming towards him from the parking garage. "Good morning Dalton, I thought you were off until 5 today." "I am but Carl mentioned that you might have to work this morning and I thought maybe we could have breakfast and then I'd show him around a little. Is he still sleeping?" "No, he was awake when I left. I told him to get his breakfast before I left. Be good for him to have someone with him until I get back. Should be around noon. I was planning on taking him to Wanamaker's for a little shopping after we get him registered." "Would you mind if I tagged along Mr. Michaels? I've already registered and maybe I could help you out." "Sounds good Dalton and call me Lee, will you? We can have lunch at the Pub and then drive out to the University." "I'll get him out of bed and we'll see you later Mr. M...Lee." The valet had brought the truck up as they were talking. Smiling too himself, he slid behind the wheel. Dalton seemed like a nice kid and he liked him and was pretty sure Carl did also. Dalton watched as Lee disappeared into traffic and he turned going around the corner of the building to the employee's entrance and used the freight elevator up to Carl's floor. * * * Lee moved smoothly up Chestnut to 13th turning north and then east on Market. MegaData was 8 blocks but Starbuck's was 2 block's before there. Pulling into the small parking lot he sees George sitting at a table in the window and he parks beside his car. Locking up he walks inside nodding at George as he orders a large coffee and Danish. "Morning George, what's up." Lee says as he sits across from him. "Morning Lee, I thought you were going to turn the truck in on your way in this morning?" "You didn't give me much of a chance George, waking me up this early." "Oh yeah, sorry. I thought I better get you before you got in and walked into Nichols. He had a fit after you left and gave me holy hell." "What about? I told you I'd be in this morning to help install the processor. He doesn't have any reason to give you hell." "Lee, he called you an arrogant ass and he wasn't going to put up with it. He told me to get your ass straightened out or else." "Or else what George? Is he going to try and fire me? Let him try." "I told you these guys play dirty and rough Lee. Firing you wouldn't bother them. Christ they have already let half the senior staff go, forced some of them to take demotions or leave. Some of us don't have contracts like you but I don't think they care." Lee sat listening to George before saying, "George, go on in and I'll follow you. I don't want you getting into any trouble. I'll take care of myself. I've run into jerks like him before and most of they are hot air." George left and I sat there finishing my coffee and thinking. It was getting to be a real hassle at Mega not that these new guys had taken over. Melvin must have been really pressured into selling out. I hadn't checked stock prices lately but maybe I should. My contract was pretty solid and they could only fire me for one of two reason, incompetence or insubordination. I could terminate with 30 days notice or sooner at their discretion. Phil had asked about going into the real estate business with him, might be interesting. I rolled into the loading docks at Mega and parked in Melvin's space, still had his name on it. Heading up the steps to the platform some one called me. "Lee, Lee Michaels. Hold up buddy." It was Perry from my old crew. "Hey Perry, good to see you. Sorry as hell about what happened. George told me last night. How's Todd doing?" "Great and Mega did us a favor. If George told you about Todd and I then you know what is happening here. Mickey is cutting out as soon as he gets in today. That Hong Kong job is a put up just to break your crew up. Tell Nichols to shove it and come with us." "Glad to hear you guys are okay. I got a couple of things to do before I make a move though. You sure Mickey is bailing out?" "Told me last night, he called. He had no more then gotten off the plane when this Nichols dude was ordering him out on this Asian gig. A Tech Rep of his degree doesn't get assigned two bit jobs like that and he knew it. George told him it wasn't going to get any better. I don't understand George hanging around taking the crap like he is." "I think he is trying to make sure we don't get shafted that bad. Besides Perry, he has a family and obligations that we don't have yet. Makes a difference when you're his age." "I guess your right. What you got on for tonight, how about we get together for a few beers at the Lane?" "Sorry bud. I'm tied up until Monday. A friend of my nephew helped me drive in and I told him I would help get him registered at UP. He is starting his first year in school. You can do me a favor though if you would?" "Name it." "Gonna need a place too bunk until I get straightened out. Think I could make it with you?" "You've made it before no reason we can't do it again." Perry was a year younger then me, ex-navy and a hell of a hunk. He looks a lot like Carl and my cock twitched remembering the last time we had bunked together. "Thanks Perry. I'm staying at the Holiday Inn on Chestnut. Give me a call Monday will ya? I should know what's up by then." He grinned at me mischievously, " I bet you will. Call you then." I watched Perry walk away and was glad I had my jockeys on. His tight ass was AWESOME. "Lee, Lee." George was almost running and calling me. "Yeah George, I'm coming." "Nichols is having a fit wanting to know where you are. That new processor has got to get on line." I stood there looking at George. He was breathing heavy from running and was scared out of his wits. Pissed me off seeing a good man his age being walked on. "Let's go see what this asshole has his nuts in a twist about." George was about two steps ahead of me and sweating so bad you could see it running down the back of his neck. My blood was boiling and I took a deep breath before going into Nichols office. He was sitting behind an immaculate desk, everything exactly where it was supposed to be. The furniture was situated so he could see everyone who happened to be there. "Good morning Mr. Michaels, so good of you to join us." Sarcasm dripped from every clipped off word. "I told you I would be here Nichols." I sat down without being asked and I could see him stiffen. George remained standing. "I understand you had a few things to say after I left last night. Mind telling me now that I'm here or do you only talk about people when they aren't around?" "Now see here Michaels, don't take that tone with me. I told you that processor had to be installed and I wanted it installed by you. No one else has the experience and we need it online now. Who I talk with is none of your business. Keep it up and you might find yourself in trouble." I sat there looking at him, the ass had walked right into it. "What's it worth for me to install it for you Nichols?" I heard George suck his air in behind me. "What in the hell are you talking about? You work for Mega and that is part of your job." "Yes, I work for Mega but installing experimental equipment is not part of my job. That's what corporate has special techs for. My job is in Delaware under George not under Overseas Ops. I have my own district or did you forget that? Check my contract if you don't believe me Nichols, I don't work under you and I damned sure never will work for you. When you bullied George and split him off giving him Mid-Atlantic and me my own district you didn't read the fine print. I have first refusal on assignments when other qualified personnel are available. You have the people for installation and I'm exercising that right and taking Delaware, not Corporate." "You can't do that!! There is no one else here that can do it." "Mickey is here and he knows as much as I do, I trained him. You sending him to Hong Kong is bullshit and you know it. Don't try and put the squeeze on me Nichols, I'm not George. I'll handle the Delaware assignment and you run Overseas. Delaware is not overseas unless I've forgotten geography." Nichols sat looking at me his eyes blazing. I had him by the nuts and he knew it. I could feel George shaking as I blasted the soft sop sitting in front of me. He picked up his phone, pushed a button and turned away from us. After a few minutes and some mumbled words he turned back still fuming. "Where do you want your final check sent Michaels? We won't be needing your services any longer." I could see the self-satisfied look spreading over his face. I wanted to smack him dead center of his eyes but held back and took a deep breath. "George may I use your cell phone?" George handed me his cell and Nichols was watching every move I made, his eyes questioning what I was doing. I dialed the AT&T operator for direct calls and when she answered I asked her for a direct connection for Cincinnati. "Private call area 513-767-8303, authorization 3633." The phone clicked a few times before hearing, "Justin and Justin, how may I help you?" "Erik Justin please, Lee Michaels calling." "Yes Mr. Michaels, one moment please." George had finally sat down next to me and Nichols hadn't said a word. "Lee, where are you at? I heard you were back in the States." "Philly Erik, how are you doing? What is MegaDate going for as of yesterday?" "MegaDate, you work for them don't you? What's on your mind?" I could hear him clicking computer keys before he answered, "As of close on Friday it was 138.6. Some outfit forced the sale and bought them out. How is that going to effect you?" "What is my balance Erik?" "You currently have 32,000 with options if you want more at a frozen price of 89.00." "Sell 30,000 Erik and transfer the funds into my personal account. I'll call you about the rest later, Erik." "Okay bud, hope you know what you are doing?" "I do Erik, tell Scott I said hi and I'll get back with you." George and Nichols sat looking at me dumbfounded as I disconnected the cell. "Send my final check direct deposit to my account along with the profit sharing I have. I think that is somewhere in the neighborhood of $150,000." "Profit sharing? What do you mean profit sharing? We don't have that plan. Do we George?" "Yes we do Mr. Nichols. I'm not sure what Lee has but he is probably pretty close too right." "Here are the keys to the Explorer. It's parked downstairs. You'll find the contract in the glove box. I'll see you later George." * * * * * *
