My Step-Brother Jacob Chapter 103 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- We pick up exactly where we left off in our last chapter, with Andy asking if I knew who Jacob's birth father was. I looked at Andy for a moment, a little surprised he hadn't already figured it out on his own. Finally, as he sat staring at me, I took a large swig of my Scotch and said, "I think it'd be best if I kept that to myself yet." "Why? Will it cause problems if it comes out?" he asked. "You have no idea!" I said, frowning. Andy frowned then too for a moment, then suddenly the realization hit him, and he cried, "OH HOLY SHITE!!!!" I sighed and took another sip of Scotch. "REALLY?" Andy asked, incredulously. I nodded. "Bugger me!" Andy said. "And that sod won't acknowledge him?" I shook my head no. "Wait a minute!" He said. "You're absolutely positive it's him! You know more than you're saying." "I went to the prison and asked Duke point blank, and he confirmed it," I said. "So, I called Pemberly's office, and told his secretary I needed to see him, and I told her to tell him I was Elizabeth's step-son. She was shocked when he said he'd see me the next morning. So... I went and confronted him. I asked what he wanted with Jacob at this point, and thankfully in one way, but sadly in another way, he said he can't acknowledge him. It's not that he doesn't want to. And, he said if he did it would ruin his personal life. But he said that's not even it. He said that he really feels he's got the ability to make life so much better for all Britons in his position, which, if he acknowledged having a bastard son, would ruin him politically too, that he just cannot do it." "He's a fucking arse!" Andy declared, and he took a long swig of whisky, then said, "But I get what he's saying... the fucker!" "Really?" I asked. "Yes John, I really do think he's making a huge difference, so I do understand!" Andy said. Then he added "Poor Jacob!" "Exactly!" I said. "Will he meet him secretly?" Andy asked. "Even if he would, that would probably make things worse for Jacob too," I said. "Jacob would just want more, and couldn't have it." "True," Andy said. "So, we have to keep this completely under wraps!" I said. "I agree," Andy said. "A few good things have come out of this though," I said. "And???" Andy asked. "He set up a VERY generous trust fund for Jacob!" I said. "Really?" Andy asked. "Oh yeah!" I said. "He'll be nearly as rich as me!" "John..." Andy said. "Just...no - never mind." "What?" I asked, looking curiously at him. He squirmed and looked embarrassed. I chuckled and asked, "You want to know how much he got?.... Or... how much I'm worth?" Poor Andy looked very embarrassed, and said "NO! It's none of my business!" I laughed and said, "He gave Jacob 100 million pounds, as well as whatever he needs to go to the college of his choice!" I never saw Andy's eyes get so big, and he literally turned white as a sheet. "Wha...ttt the fuck???" he gasped finally. "And, I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 350 million dollars... i really don't know the current conversion, so can't really compare it," I added. Poor Andy nearly choked, and looked horrified. I just looked calmly at him smiling. "Wh-why the fuck are you with me then?" he asked finally. "WHAT?" I asked. "John! You're gorgeous, young, sexy as hell, and wealthy beyond belief! You could have ANYONE you want!!!" he cried, looking incredulously at me. "Why the Hell would you settle for a penniless orphan like me???" I looked at Andy for a moment, then finally said, "Are you serious? You think money means anything to me? You think I want to be with some dumb rich asshole? You dumb ass! I love you! You're gorgeous, smart, funny, and honestly, I can't imagine my life without you being my partner! I love you to death man! I don't care that you're orphaned - hell - so am I, and honestly you're not - your mother still loves you! And I could care less if you have any money or not! Money's OK - but only if you can do some good with it! Otherwise, it's worthless! As far as I'm concerned, we'll be OK - no matter what we do in life - my money is locked up so I can't waste it. And there is a limit what I can spend, but I can get as much as we need for living expenses, school, and anything important, as well as charities I choose to donate to. So... I hope you get it now!" Andy just sat staring at me. I think it was all a little too much for him. Finally, I said, "Are you OK?" Suddenly then, tears began streaming down his cheeks, and his jaw began violently trembling. A moment later he burst into tears, and threw himself into my arms, hugged me tightly, and began sobbing. "Awwwe, c'mon man!" I said, and I hugged him tightly. After a minute, Andy's crying finally subsided, and he pulled away from me sniffling. "Are you OK??" I asked. "Yes," he rasped, and he sniffled again, and finally said, "Nobody has ever pledged themself to me so much! Not even my Mum! I-I don't even know what to say, except that I've never loved anyone as much as I love you John! And I swear it's not at all about your money!" I chuckled and said, "You boob! I love you too!" And I hugged him to me again tightly for a moment. When I finally released him, he sat smiling the broadest smile I'd ever seen him smile, with tear-soaked cheeks. I reached over and used my thumb to wipe his cheeks dry, as all he could do was beam at me. "By the way, he's fixing it so I can become a dual citizen of the US and the UK as well!" I said. "And he's expediting a passport application for Austin too, in case we have to flee the country quickly for some reason!" "Oh my God John! Her Majesty will be your Queen now too!" Andy gasped, and I couldn't help bursting out laughing. "Well," I said. "I thought the more important part would be that I could remain in the country once I graduate college!" "Well!" Andy said. "Yes, that's very important too I guess!" I laughed heartily again, and Andy joined in as well. "I'm happy you blokes are having such a grand time!" Jacob snapped, frowning at us, as he suddenly rounded the corner, and walked into the living room. "Jacob!" I said. "I want to say that I never meant to hurt you in any way! I hope you believe that! I think you know me well enough to know that I really do mean that! On the other hand, I am a bit disappointed that you felt you had to hide what was going on with you from me! I thought we were truly brothers, and that you could talk with me about anything! If you're having a problem, I want to help you resolve whatever the issue is, and make things better for you. I think you know me well enough to know that I mean that too!" Jacob looked at me for a beat, then finally said, "I suppose." "You suppose?" I asked, staring evenly at him. "FINE!" he snapped. "I do believe most of that, but I CANNOT believe that you knew that Duke wasn't my father, and you kept that from me - especially since you knew I wished so much that he was NOT my father, after what he did to all those poor boys!" I thought a moment, and finally said, "I can understand that. And I'm very sorry! For whatever reason, I thought somehow it might make things worse for you. So, I kept it to myself. And now, all I can say is I'm sorry, and I hope you can forgive me!" Jacob looked at me for a moment, then he looked at Andy. "I too am very sorry Jacob!" he said. "I should've known I couldn't keep your situation a secret from John, and should never have promised to do so. I'm sorry I broke my promise Jacob." "Honestly," Jacob said, "I never expected you to be able to keep it to yourself. I know you well enough to know you can't. I just hoped and prayed you would, this one time. But, it's OK - what I did was wrong, and so I deserve to live with the embarrassment. I learned too not to trust you with a serious secret. But I'm over it." "Thank you!" Andy said, and he smiled. His smile faded a bit then and he added rather uncertainly, "I think." I had to fight the urge to laugh. "So???" I asked. "What about you and me?" Jacob looked at me, and said, "Sorry - but It's going to take me some time to get over this I think." "Fair enough," I said, feeling bad. We looked at one another for a moment. Finally, Jacob said, "So... do you know who my real father is then?" I had figured that Jacob was going to be coming to me to ask that question, and wasn't shocked. Of course, I had to lie to him, which I didn't like doing, but it would've been much worse if he knew the truth. "No Jacob, I'm sorry, I don't." I said, and I just looked evening at him. He stared at me, trying to tell if I was telling him the truth or not, then he looked at Andy, whose eyes just a little larger. "You're sure?" Jacob asked, looking back at me, and a moment later glancing at Andy again. "I'm sure," I said. Jacob just looked at me a little longer, then finally said, "I honestly don't know if I believe you or not." He turned on his heel then, and walked back upstairs. I looked at Andy, and he just sighed, and frowned. * * * The next few days, Jacob gave me the silent treatment. He would respond with single word answers if I directed a question to him though. Andy was a bit luckier. While Jacob wasn't initiating any conversations with him, he would respond in a civil manner to him. Thursday, Jacob's school called, asking why I hadn't called to say Jacob wasn't going to be in. "What do you mean?" I asked. "Well, he's not here, and the rule is that parents always call the school if a student is going to be absent. I realize your situation, and I'm so very sorry about his mother's passing. Maybe being new at being his guardian, you weren't aware of this rule?" the lady asked. "That's correct," I said, grimmacing. "Very well, I'm glad I had the opportunity to let you know," she said. "Yes, Thank you very much ma'am" I said, and we hung up. * * * When Andy got home from school, I told him about the call. "Bugger!" Andy exclaimed. "If that little shite is up at the park again, I'll kill him!" Just then the door opened, and Jacob walked in. Andy and I were sitting at the kitchen table. He glanced over at us, then stepped over to the refrigerator and took out a can of Irn Bru, opened it and came over and sat down at the table. He glanced at me, as I stared at him, and I saw his face darken slightly. "I suppose my school called?" he asked, concentrating on his soda. "Uh huh," I said. "If you were cruis -" Andy began, looking sternly at him, but Jacob cut him off. "I wasn't! I went to see Duke again," Jacob said. "Since you won't tell me who my father is, I thought maybe he would." "I told you I don't know," I said. "Did Duke know your father is?" Andy couldn't contain himself. "He claimed he didn't know," Jacob said, looking depressed. "Well," I said. "I'm sorry." "I don't know whether or not I believe him though," Jacob said. "You'd think he would know." "It would seem logical, but then again, it's quite possible he never knew," I said. "So... how'd you get up to Ashfield anyway?" "I took the train to Bath, and a taxi to the prison," Jacob said. I frowned slightly, looking at him for a moment, then said, "Well, thank you for being upfront about your day's activities, but Jacob, in the future, if you need to do something, like go to see your father -" "He's NOT my father!" Jacob cut in. "...like go to see DUKE," I continued. "I don't want you going alone. Ask me, and I'll take you." "Would you have really taken me today?" Jacob asked. "Yes," I said. "Given the situation, I wouldn't have been surprised that you wanted to see him again." He looked at me and blinked, then said, "Oh. I kind of thought you wouldn't want me to go." "Well," I said. "I probably wouldn't have wanted you to go, but, if you had wanted to, I would've taken you." "OK," he said. "And no more skipping school!" I said, looking sternly at him. Again, he just looked at me and blinked. "So Jacob," Andy said. "What all did you and your... I mean Duke, talk about?" "Nothing," Jacob said. "He walked in and started to tell me how glad he was to see me, but I cut him off and just asked if he knew who my real father is. He said no. I told him I thought he was lying. He claimed he wasn't, that he truly didn't know." Jacob sneered a little then, and continued, "And then he said 'Jacob, in my heart I still think of you as my son!'. I told him to get over it, because he wasn't my father. Then I left." "Awfully long distance to travel for such a short conversation," I said. "I didn't want to spend anymore time with him than I had to. And I won't be going back. He's not my father - thank God! - and there's no reason I can think of that I should ever see him again," Jacob said. "Yeah," I said. "I think I'd feel the same way, if I was in your shoes." "Really?" Jacob asked, and I was surprised he seemed surprised. "Yes, really," I said. "Huh!" he said, still surprised. Then he said, "So... I suppose I'm grounded?" I looked at him for a minute, thinking, then finally said, "No. Just promise if you ever need to do something during school hours, or go somewhere, you'll talk with me about it. I really need to know where you are, and don't want you being on your own away from home like that. You're growing up, but you're not all the way there yet, and the world can be dangerous." "I'm fine, it all worked out," he said. "This time," I said. "But, what if there had been a train accident, or something, and we didn't know you were on the train? Or anything else! I mean - someone should know approximately where you're at, at all times. I think you can see that's a reasonable thing." "OK," Jacob said, and he got up then, and headed out of the kitchen, and went upstairs. "Well," Andy said quietly. "I guess that went OK then." "Yeah, but he's not going to let this rest. He's determined to find out who his father is! And I can't blame him. I'd feel the same way if I were him," I said. Andy smiled sadly, and nodded in agreement. * * * The next day was Friday, and it was the first of a two-night special event George was hosting at the Bell & Crown, some local darts tournament, and he asked if I'd please play both nights. I had agreed, and therefore was scheduled to play two nights in a row. We had also finally agreed to let one of Laney's girlfriends babysit Austin, so that both Andy and Jacob could join me for the evening. The pub did seem a little more crowded than usual. Fortunately, Andy and Jacob were able to nab our usual table, near the stage. I noticed there was a rather large contingent of people crowded in the corner where the dart boards were set up. They seemed happy there was entertainment, as when I introduced myself and started singing, they all cheered heartily, before returning their attention to their tournament. Behind the bar, George was all grins - thoroughly enjoying the large crowd. And so the evening was off to a great start! Andy joined me and played his pipes for a couple songs, during which the darts tournament paused to enjoy the duets, and cheered very loudly afterward, as did everyone else as well. Toward the end of my first set, Sophie brought me over another pint, and leaned in and said "There's a table of your fellow countrymen over there, who seem to appreciate your music!" She pointed then to a table where four guys were sitting. I flashed a grin in their direction, then launched into my next song. I switched from my guitar over to the piano then and played a couple more songs, then announced I was taking a short break. I went and joined Andy and Jacob then for a few minutes. I mussed Jacob's hair, then sat down opposite him, next to Andy, draped an arm around his shoulders, and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. Both of them seemed happy, and like they were having a good time. That of course made me happy as well. Together we shared another plate of Doughed Bangers that Sophie had brought over. Half way through my break I said, "I gotta go talk to the guys over that table over there. Sophie says they're from the States. It'd be rude if I didn't stop by and visit with them a couple minutes." "OK, go meet your public. We'll see you shortly," Andy said. I grinned, and gave him another quick peck on the cheek, then stood up, turned and headed over to the table of American guys. "Hi! Sophie wanted me to come meet my fellow Americans. I'm John," I said, sticking my hand out, as I walked up to the group. "Hi! I'm Josh," one of them said, smiling. "And this is my husband Braden, and his brother Austin, and Lucas is Austin's fiancee'." "Awesome!" I said. "That's my boyfriend Andy, and my stepbrother Jacob sitting over there." I pointed over at Andy and Jacob, and they exchanged waves with Josh and his group. "We don't see that many Americans in here," I said. "We're far enough off the beaten path that most tourists don't make it this far." "We kept walking until we found a place that looked good," Braden said, grinning. "I'm glad you found us," I said. "So, you guys are from the south, aren't you?" "Yep, Alabama born and raised," Josh said, drawing out the syllables more than was necessary, to emphasize his accent. "I knew it. That accent is unmistakable," I said. "I hope you're enjoying yourselves here. Is Sophie treating you well?" Sophie appeared behind me just then, carrying another round of pints. Apparently she'd heard my question and just gave me one of her looks, then smiled, when I grinned back at her. "Sophie is the best!" Lucas declared, rather loudly. I got the impression he wasn't feeling any pain. "Cool! Well, I have to get back to it," I said, winking. "Hope you guys enjoy my next set!" I headed back up to the stage then. "Hey Folks! I'm back!" I said into the microphone, as I settled back onto my stool, and picked up my guitar. A cheer went up in the crowd. "OK, this next one is homage to my new American friends, from down south in Alabama- Go Bama!" I said, pointing to the table of Americans, and the guys all grinned at me, while some of the others clapped appreciatively. I broke into a lively rendition of "Dixie" then, and they grinned even louder, and joined me in the chorus, as some of the regulars looked on rather surprised. Andy and Jacob looked a bit surprised as well, as they'd never heard me play Dixie either. I played for another hour or so, then finally announced that I was finished for the evening, but that I'd be back the next night, and I hoped they'd come back and join us again. The applause and cheering was enthusiastic! I needed to take a leak, so headed in the direction of the Men's room, which brought me right past the American guys' table. As I approached the guys, I heard Austin declaring loudly, "Well, I definitely want to come back!" "Me too!" Lucas said. "Cool!" I said, and I grinned and nodded at them as I passed by. A moment later, as I stood at the urinal trough peeing, Braden walked into the mens' room and stepped up to the trough next to me. I noticed he seemed to be wavering a bit, as if he'd had a couple too many to drink. All of a sudden he exclaimed, "Fuck that's big!" I looked sideways and saw he was staring down at my dick. "Yeah, they don't call me 'Horse' for nothing!" I said grinning. Braden, just continued gawking at my tool. Suddenly then, to my surprise, his hand left his own penis, and he reached for mine, pushed my hand away, and wrapped his hand around it, and started stroking it. "Whoa there buddy!" I said. "Let's not go too far with this. I don't think your husband would like it." Gently then, I grasped his wrist, and removed his hand from my member, which was starting to harden. Quickly I stowed my dick, and zipped up. "Oh my God! I'm so sorry! It's just so big!" Braden gasped, sounding a little horror-stricken, as he too, hastily, but clumsily, and somewhat unsuccessfully attempted to put his penis in his pants and zip up. He was clearly on the verge of tears. "It's alright," I said, feeling sorry for him, as he struggled to get himself back in order. "Here', let's get you put away, and zipped up." I reached over then and helped Braden get his pants properly closed. "C'mon, let's get you back to your table," I said. I spun him around, and firmly gripped his shoulder, and gently pushed him toward the bathroom door, and once we left the mens' room, continued guiding him back to his table. I couldn't help but notice, he was still on the verge of tears though. "Babe? What's wrong? What happened?" Josh asked. "Everything's fine," I said. "I think he's had a little too much to drink. You might want to get an Uber back to wherever you guys are staying. It's probably not a good idea to be walking around London at night, in a state like this." "I think he's the worst of us," Josh said. "He's not used to drinking this much, and he didn't want to stop with the ale. Thanks for taking care of him." "John, is everything alright?" Andy asked, as he and Jacob walked up behind me. "Yeah, everything's fine. Just talking with my new American friends," I said, smiling, and winking at him. I introduced Andy and Jacob to Josh, Braden, Austin and Lucas then, and related to Andy that I'd suggested they uber back to their hotel. I noticed, Jacob was giving Austin and Lucas the once over, and gave him a glance. For a moment his eyes bugged slightly, then returned to normal, but his face tinged slightly pink, and he looked down at the floor. "Where are you staying?" Andy asked them. "We're at Hotel 41," Josh said. "It's only about a half hour walk." "Oh dear!" Andy said. "That's too far to walk to this late at night. And there's no reason to spend money on an Uber. I can drive you." "We couldn't put you out like that," Josh said. "We'll be fine." "Nonsense!" Andy said. "John and I drove separately tonight. I'm in my car, and he's in his. I won't take no for an answer." "There's no sense in arguing with Andy," I said. "You can't win!" They finally decided to take my advice, and stopped arguing. We said good-night, and they promised to be at the pub again then next evening, then they followed Andy and Jacob out to Andy's Anglia, and somehow, all crammed into it, and Andy drove them back to their hotel. The ride was uneventful, with the exception of the fact that Jacob was enjoying being in such close contact with so many good looking guys, and predictably developed an erection! As they rode along, the four Americans told Andy and Jacob about where they lived in the States, and about their jobs. In return, Andy and Jacob told them about us... how I'd had to move to London, after my mother died, to live with my father, step mother, and step brother, and then how'd we'd lost my father and Elizabeth, and that now we were a family, along with Jacob's and my half-brother Austin. Andy dropped the guys off in front of their hotel, and Josh tried to pay him, but of course Andy refused. Josh finally agrieed, but with the promise that the next evening he would buy us a round of doughed bangers and pints! Andy and Jacob drove home then, and I met them there later. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next chapter in this series will be published as soon as possible...
