"HA! I beat you again!" Nick cheered. I shook my head. "Whatever." I looked down at my watch. "Well, it's almost 3, wanna get something to drink?" I asked. "Yeah, let's go!" We walked out of the arcade. "Where do you wanna drink at?" I asked, walking down the street. "Mikey D's," he replied, tucking his hands in his jeans pockets. We both walked in silence up to Mikey D's. We entered and ordered a soda. He selected Root Beer and I chose a Pepsi. We paid for them and then took a booth near the playground. "What will you be doing for the summer?" I asked, slurping my soda through its straw. Nick shrugged. "I don't know, party all summer." he grinned. "Nah, probably hang out with you and go swimming," he said, looking toward the door. "Cool, that sounds like a plan." I nodded. "Guess who walked in?" Nick looked at me. I turned my head and looked around. "Who?" I kept looking. "Wow... you didn't even recognize your protector from last year?" Nick smirked. "Oh, Bobby Harper?" I asked. "Yeah... guess who he's with?" he looked at them and quickly nodded his head in their direction. I looked around again. "Oh great, with Laura Prescott." I groaned and looked at Bobby. "He looked like he's getting really annoyed." I grinned a little and looked back at Nick. "He's coming now." Nick waved at him. "God, I hope he's not with Laura now, I hate it when she bitches at me." I sighed. Nick grinned. "Nah... she went to the bathroom," he said. "Hey Jett!" Bobby smiled. "Hey, Bobby! How's college?" I asked and shook his hand. "Ohhh... it's ok, a lot of homework." Bobby grinned. "Now, I'm on a break for the summer, thank god!" he said. "Cool, what are you doing with Laura?" Nick asked. "Oh, her... she wanted to go out with me, but I didn't want to. She's such a whiner! No wonder your brother broke up with her," Bobby said. "Yeah, he was happy when he dumped her." I said. "Come on, let's get out of here before she gets back from the bathroom." Bobby's eyes twinkled. Nick and I agreed and we all left the building. We walked over to Bobby's red, 59' Mustang. Nick got in the back and I got in the passenger seat. We drove off. "Oh man! I bet Laura will whine." Nick laughed. Bobby's cell phone rang. He pulled it out of his pocket and handed it to me. "Answer it for me." he said. I took the phone and answered it. "Bobby! Where are you?! Why the hell you leave me here?" Laura whined. I grinned and handed the phone to Bobby. He took it and listened to Laura's whining and bitching. "I'm sorry, I have an emergency, so I had to leave you there. Take a ride from someone else girl and do me favor... don't call me ever again." Bobby hung up. "Wow, I can't believe you got the guts to say that!" Nick exclaimed. "I bet she'd kick my ass, if I said that." he shook his head. I became little worried. "Did she see me?" I asked nervously. "Yeah, she did. Why?" Bobby asked. "She hates me. I don't know why, but she does." I shrugged. The phone rang again. Bobby answered the phone. "Hello? Whoa man... calm down!" He listened to the phone and kept on driving. "What? I didn't do that! He's my friend. You know how she is... that's NOT true! Wanna talk to him?" He handed the phone to me. I looked at him confused. "It's Todd." Bobby said. I quickly got the phone. "Yeah?" "Jett! Are you ok?" Todd asked frantically. I got really confused. "Yeah, I'm fine." I said hesitantly. "Are you hanging out with Bobby?" Todd asked. "Yes I am. Todd, what's going on?" I asked. "Why are you freaking out?" I looked at Nick and shrugged. "I went to McDonald's with Ricky and the moment I walked in, Laura ran up to me and told me you were kidnapped by Bobby, so I freaked out." Todd explained with his voice breaking. "Todd, you know Bobby's my friend. He protected me last year and helped you." I could hear him sniffling. "He would never kidnap me." "Ok... see you later, tell Bobby I'm sorry," Todd hung up. I looked at the phone and hung up. "Is everything ok?" Bobby asked, tucking his phone in his pocket. I nodded. "He apologized." I looked out of the car. "What did he say?" Nick asked. "He said, Ricky and he went to McDonald's and Laura told him, I was kidnapped by Bobby, but I told him what you heard." I sighed. "I can't believe she said that." I said. "Why would she do that?" Bobby asked, driving up to my house. "She hates me for all I know." I shrugged as he pulled up to my driveway. "Hey, can I stay over?" Nick asked. I looked at Nick. "You're not supposed to. It's a school night," I said. "You didn't get any info?" Nick asked. Now I'm confused again. "What info?" I asked. "The school is closed for teacher's conference." Nick replied. "Oh, ok... all right you can stay over." I said, getting out of the car as Nick hopped out. "See you guys around!" Bobby smiled. "See ya! Thanks for the ride!" I said. Bobby drove off. We walked up to the entry and I unlocked the door. We walked in and I put my keys on the table. "I'm gonna call Mom and ask if I can stay over. Can I use the phone?" Nick asked. "Yeah sure, go in my room." I walked into the kitchen and leaned against the wall and sighed. I reached for my ribs and began to rub them. "Damn, I shouldn't have done that," I whispered, closing my eyes. "Shouldn't have done what?" Todd asked. I jumped. "Todd! Don't do that!" I felt my heart pounding. "Sorry." he apologized. "I shouldn't have walked to the arcade and Mickey D's," I drew a deep breath and breathed out slowly. "and I shouldn't have given you a massage last night." I said softly. Todd went over to the fridge and pulled out the ice pack. He moved to the sink and grabbed a towel. "Come on, let's go into the living room." he said, walking toward it. I followed him and sat down on the couch. "Lay down." he ordered. I lay down and Todd lifted my shirt up and looked at my side. "It's still the same." he said covering the ice pack with the towel and putting it on my side. I held it to my side. "Thanks. Nick's here, can he stay for a while?" I asked. "Yeah, he can," Todd nodded. "Hey! My mom said, I can stay over," Nick said, sitting down on the oversized sofa. "What did you do, when you heard the truth about my kidnapping?" I asked, looking at Todd. Todd walked up to the window and started closing the blinds. "I got mad, so I pulled her outside and exploded at her." he said, walking to the other window. "You yelled at her?" Nick asked in shocked. "In public?" Todd looked at Nick and shook his head. "No, I didn't yell at her in public. I just told her to back off and she whined that she wanted me back," he closed the shade. "Wanted you back? Wait... she was with Bobby and now she wants you back." I rolled my eyes and wanted to gag. "She's one of a slut!" Nick laughed. Todd smiled. "I don't know, I didn't ask her." he said. He closed all the blinds and walked up to the computer. He booted it and signed online. "Can we watch a movie?" Nick asked. "Be my guest." Todd replied, as he checked his e-mails. "Hey, Jett... did you know that there's no school tomorrow?" he asked. "Yeah, Nick told me. Another boring day," I said. Nick got up and rummaged through the DVDs. "Boring day?" Todd smirked. "I thought you hate school." "Oh, you know me too well. I do hate school, but I don't know if I'll be going out tomorrow." I looked at him. "I think you better rest." Todd said. "Todd! I stayed home on Saturday, all day!" I pouted as Nick started laughing. I looked at Nick. "What's so funny?" I asked. "I've never seen you complain," Nick shook his head. "to your brother!" "What do you mean?" I asked. "I mean you both always say `yes', if you both want something, or if he takes something without asking, you don't mind at all, but it's my first time seeing you pout when Todd tells you what to do," he explained. "Ok." I said, shaking my head. "So, what movie are we watching?" I asked. "Dr. Dolittle." Nick replied and put the movie in the DVD machine. Todd shut the computer down. "Want something to eat, or drink?" he asked. "Yeah, I'll have water, if you have a water bottle?" Nick asked. "Yes, we do. Want anything Jett?" Todd asked. "I'll have Sprite." I replied. Todd walked into the kitchen. Nick came over to the oversized sofa and sat down. Todd returned and gave Nick his water bottle. He passed me my can of Sprite and sat down on the floor. "Mom called." Todd looked up at me. "Cool," I replied. "to check on us?" "Yeah, she's worried about you." Todd said, taking a sip of his water. "Don't all mothers?" I joked. Todd laughed. "Yeah, man. I freaked out when Laura told me all those lies," he said softly. "I know," I sighed, "I don't know why she did that." Todd shrugged. "I don't know either, maybe trying to get me for dumping her." he said. "Hey man, you did the right thing," Nick said. "She always bitched at us when you're not around," he said. "You too?" Todd asked. "Yes, him too, when he stayed here," I nodded. "Damn, I don't even know why I asked her out," Nick shrugged. "Like everyone says, life is full of surprises." he said. "You never know what will happen, we can't predict the future." He took a sip of his water. "True." I agreed. We watched the movie. We laughed, joked around and talked. Half way through the movie, I fell asleep. When the movie was over, Todd looked over at his brother. "Shh, Jett's asleep," he whispered. "Ok, I better go home. See you tomorrow," Nick whispered getting up from the seat and walking to the door. Todd followed him and opened the door. "Good night." he said, as Nick left the house. Todd closed the door and walked back into the living room. He turned the TV off and took two water bottles and pop can to the kitchen. After throwing them away he went back to the living room. He came to me and picked me up gently in his arms. I moaned softly as Todd took me upstairs to my room. After entering my room, Todd moved to my bed and lay me on it. Pulling me up, he took my shirt off, and then he gently laid me down. "Jett?" he whispered in my ear. I groaned and opened my eyes slowly. "Yeah?" I asked groggily. "Take off your pants, I don't think you'll be comfortable sleeping in your jeans." Todd said. "All right." I yawned, unbuttoning my jeans and pulling them down. I closed my eyes and fell asleep. Todd sighed and slipped my jeans off. He tossed them on my desk and pulled the sheets over me. "Good night and sweet dreams." he whispered, kissed my forehead and exited my room. He closed the door and went into his room. Todd stripped his clothes off, except for his boxers. Closing the door, he walked over to his bed, slipped into it and fell asleep. ...:::To Be Continued:::...
