I truly appreciate the comments and encouragement so many of your have sent. I beg you patients with the Gaelic moment and the rendition of the Wild Rover in this chapter. With St Patrick's day approaching and the nature of the band's set I was driven to include it. I'm fairly sure it won't work for those of you who don't know the tune. You'll be able to find it online if you're interested. Last time I sang it in an Irish Pub on St Patty's day the counters were lined up so deep on the bar I had credit through May! If you have comments or critique please feel free to email sandjlikeboyz@live.com ...Thanks 11>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jerry was at the door to the performance area watching the band as Sean approached. "Ready for another cinnamon roll?" He grinned as Sean passed him. "Yeah, can you heat it up?" Sean yawned. "Need to get the blood movin' again," Jerry chuckled. "Been on the move all day." Sean protested. "Startin' to feel like I need some down time." The front of the store was empty as they returned to conduct their business. "Layin' down or gettin' down." Jerry jibbed from behind the counter. "A nice soft bed and gettin' blown to sleep would do the trick." Sean grinned grabbin' his package for effect. The ringing microwave called for his attention and he turned to retrieve Sean's roll. His movement accented his tight round ass and reminded Sean that he'd seen Jerry on inline skates at the park on several occasions. "What kind of skates do you use?" Sean asked remembering them as being something unusual. "Used to be a speed skater, on ice ya know? The inlines I own mimic the long blades we used and give you more blade, or in this case additional wheels. They distribute your weight over a longer bar, and give you additional area to push off in your stride. They are actually faster than shorter blades. "Yeah you were definitely movin' when I saw you." Sean replied. "If the pavement's smooth, I can keep up with most cyclists saying they don't have too many gears." "Doesn't do any harm to your lower body either." Sean said admiring the twenty something before him. "Skaters have the strongest legs." Jerry smiled. "and the nicest asses," Sean teased. "Who's got the nicest ass?" asked a blond suddenly appearing beside Sean. Both Sean and Jerry nearly leaped from their skins at Wayne's sudden appearance. "Damn boy makes some noise when you enter a room." Jerry lectured. "Oh yeah, like that would have worked any time today. Wayne laughed. "Did I surprise you?" "Surprised isn't the word," Sean said finally settling down. "What you doin' here?" "You said something about being here tonight. Mark and I went and had some Mexican and then decided we'd come check it out." Wayne reported following Sean to the coffee pots. "Check it, or...." "Hey, we're not the ones who offered the party plan this afternoon, but I sure wouldn't turn down another opportunity with my new friend." Wayne said lowering his gaze to Sean's jeans. "So where's Mark?" Sean said rolling his eyes. "Parking the car." "C'mon back and check out the band and I'll introduce you to the gang." Sean offered. "Gang is it. That sounds a bit intimidating." Wayne grinned. "Only if you couple it with bang." Sean reasoned. The band was off on a medley of traditional folk tunes: reels and jigs, instrumentals mostly. Mark and Wayne made their way in and accepted seats at Sean's table as the band segued into a set of traditional Irish tunes finishing with "She moved through the fair." Danny sang the last tune. The house roared its approval. Tim rose from his chair and spontaneously began the "Wild Rover." The audience quieted as his strong clear tenor filled the room. The band slowly took up the tune, and as he broke into the refrain a number of voices joined his: "and it's no, nay never." "RIGHT UP YOUR KILT," responded many in the audience in cadence with the break. No Nay Never No more Will I play the Wild Rover No never, No more. As the second verse gave way to the refrain still more the crowd joined in. By the third the entire crowd roared Right up your kilt, and many joined in strengthening the chorus and bracing the rest of the audience. Those in the know shushed the crowd as the final verse began. Tim took it up in a quieted and tender timbre with a quaver of emotion in his voice and an honest tears glistening in his eyes. I'll return to me parents confess what I done, in hope that they'll pardon their prodigal son, and when they caress me as oft times before, No I never will play the wild rover no more! And it no, nay, never, (Right up your kilt) No Nay Never No more Will I play the Wild Rover No never, No more. ONE MORE TIME! And it no, nay, never, (Right up your kilt) No Nay Never No more Will I play the Wild Rover No never, No more. The chorus faded under the rousing cheers of the house. The band applauded right along with the crowd and promised to be back after a short break. Tim was congratulated and cheered. Sean was among the audience members that had thrown themselves wholly into participation. As he cheered he heard a familiar voice intone the Irish Doxology. "Up the long stair, and down the short rope. To hell with the Queen and God save the Pope." Josh had intoned the ancient formula from atop a chair across the room. He hopped down and slung an arm around Derrick's shoulder nearly dragging him toward Sean as he grinned ear to ear. His shirt was open exposing a gleaming chest. They approached with another fine looking lad in tow. Sean was fairly certain this new arrival was wearing Josh's tee shirt. "You're looking hale and hearty." Sean said greeting his not so little brother in a traditional manner. Josh couldn't stop grinning and abandoned Derrick to hug Sean. The embrace was strong and heartfelt, and Sean was strangely energized by it. "I suppose introductions are in order. " Sean suggested beginning the process. "Is twelve a lucky number?" Conrad asked as the room began to settle back into an even conversational drone. "Twelve? I suppose it is, twelve hours, twelve months....twelve apostles." Mick pondered. "Twelve Apostles were there." Conrad said slippin' into a thick brogue. "Now where would a dark haired heathen like yourself learn such a thing." "What bit o' Blarney are you spoutin' there ya daft Englishman." Tim scolded. "Have a look at the lads congregating around Sean." Conrad pointed out abandoning all pretense. All three of them looked to Sean's table. The space was crowded with a variety of interesting subjects that were exchanging greetings. Tim's body shivered in anticipation. "Don't assume the entire retinue is like minded." Mickey cautioned. "for when one assumes..." "Birds of feather." Conrad countered. "J boi, you know any of the new comers?" Mick wondered only to find the boy missing. "Get you something else J boi?" Jerry asked. "I could use another coke, but I'll pay." he said producing his wallet. "Still plenty on account from your mentor there." Jerry taunted. J boi shook his head and sighed. "Why don't you like me?" he asked planting his hands on the counter and looking Jerry in the eye. "Cause you hustle people in the shop." Jerry accused. "Scammin' folks for their cash on your pretty boy looks, when you have cash in your wallet. I've seen it." "Alright, I like hangin' here, so how about I promise not to panhandle here any more, would that make it cool between us?" J boi offered. "What else you hawkin' when you're here?" Jerry accused the boy quietly, "What you given that stud to make him so friendly?" "What I'm given him is my business, unless you're gonna sneak up and watch again," J boi countered, "but I don't sell it if that's what's buggin' ya!" "Sell it! Who'd pay for that?" "You would," J boi replied quietly. "I know you would." Jerry remained silent and looked the boy over with renewed curiosity. "So here's the deal. I know you like what you see. I like what I'm seein' too. The problem is that we're both treatin' each other like assholes." Jerry was surprised at the boy's candor. "How about we start again? This time we'll give it a try as buds, and I won't do anything in the shop to fuck with you or the customers?" J boi said completing his negotiations. "You mean that?" "Seal the deal right here, right now." J boi offered. "Can you speak for your skater pals?" "Can't make no guarantee for anyone else." J boi said, "specially if we're talkin' about benefits." "No just have them not panhandle when their in here, and I'd be cool with them hangin' out. I mean it's not a club house..." "I get ya. I can talk to `em. We have an understanding about one place in town already, it belongs to somebody's uncle." "That's fair." Jerry agreed. "So how do we seal the deal?" "Swap some seed." J boi grinned. "Now!" "Yeah why not?" Just then the wild rover ended. The vociferous roar drew Jerry to the performance room entrance to make sure everything was alright. He was delighted to see it was all high spirits following a good performance. "I'll see you when the next set gets started." J boi said spying Josh. "Yeah we'll talk more then." Jerry agreed seeing part of the crowd on their feet. J boi slid into the room. The moving mass of people made it difficult to get to Josh. As he approached he noticed both Derrick and Chris. He didn't know either of them, but there was an obvious relationship between Josh and dark hair boy around whom he so casually draped his arm. He followed at a distance, bumping headlong into Danny. They both apologized automatically upon their collision. Once they'd recognized each other Danny was thoroughly embarrassed, and J boi amused. "Sorry," Danny said trying to move past the boy. "Why." J boi wondered, "thought we wanted to get closer?" "What you mean?" Danny said feeling trapped despite the crowd. "You didn't mind watchin'. Is that all you wanna do is watch?" Danny's jeans were becoming embarrassingly tight. "`Cause I'd like you to do more then just watch." J boi assured him looking toward the cellar stairs. "I'm gonna go to the stairs. You're on break. Slide over there and I'll ease that tension in your jeans before you have to go back on stage." J boi smiled shyly and slid away. He caught Danny's eye once more as he paused before slipping through the door. The stairs were dark following the glaring lights of the performance room. The sound of the room was lightly muffled but ever present through the wooden panels. The doorknob turned with a slight squeal. Danny slipped into the darkness. J boi pressed up against him pushing Danny's back against the door. His deft fingers closed around the tent in Danny's jeans. "I'm so fuckin' stoked It's not gonna take much." Danny professed. "Well there's no sense wasting it." J boi said falling to his knees. Three practiced motions unbuckled Danny's belt, popped the button on his jeans and lowered his zipper. He peeled the jeans down the man's hips and smiled at the wet spot in his briefs. Tucking the waist band beneath the ample balls freed the stiff prod. "Perfect," J boi sighed seeing the stiff seven inches. He leaned in and engulfed the length in a single swift gulp. Danny's grunt was lost in the cacophony produced next door. He took hold of the boy's long blond hair and leaned back into the door for support. J boi didn't waste time with subtlety. He bobbed his head quick and sure up and down the length. His tongue was flattened hard against the underside. His lip tucked firmly over his upper teeth. The length barely breached his gullet with each pass and he allowed one hand to massage Danny's bloated balls as the other rode on his hip. Danny's body quivered as if an electric current was coursing through it. The boy servicing him was so cute, so wonton, so talented that the thought of this moment was nearly enough to inspire his orgasm. The reality was nearly unbearable. Danny came. His body bucked so hard against the door that Wayne and Chris both heard it and kept watch to see who would emerge. J boi gurgled and slurped around the spewing cock. He nursed as much of the rich cream from the man as he could then slowly came to his feet. Danny was still shaken and panting. "Next time I'll give this fine cock the time and attention it deserves." He promised. "Next time." Danny panted. "If you're interested I think there's gonna be a real hot affair goin' on after the show." "After the show." Danny repeated. J boi swiped away a dangling drop of cum from Danny's slowly flagging cock. He used it to gloss his lips, then smiled and slipped back out into the crowded room on the other side of the door. Danny packed his goods away. He chuckled to himself realizing he still did not know the boy's name. Then he hustled out to grab a cold drink before the next set. Chris and Wayne shared a knowing smiles as each of them emerged. Mark had gone to refill his coffee cup. Wayne smiled anew at Chris and moved toward the door. "He's a slut." Derrick counseled "And what am I?" Chris shrugged. "Beautiful really beautiful." Josh said having witnessed the whole interaction. "At least I have that," Chris sighed moving from the table. All three of them laughed as he slipped through the door after Wayne. The band was beginning to gather back on the stage. The crowd acknowledged them with a round of applause. They bantered with the crowd tuning and preparing for their last set, when they noticed their guitarist missing. "Any of you young ladies tryin' to make off with our hot young guitarist?" the mandolin player asked the audience. Danny appeared from the entry to the performance area at a trot. He jumped up on the platform to the cheers of the crowd and made a quick bow. "Better see to the barn door there buddy." Quipped the fiddle player on mic. "He's trawlin' for faggots again." the bass player added. He didn't have a microphone but was audible to anyone near the stage. Alan set his index finger in his mouth and made the sound of a drag being engaged on a fishing reel as he pulled on his cheek with the hooked finger. The entire table fell into hysterics. Danny blushed and turned to raise his zipper and don his guitar. When he turned back he peeked toward the table. Alan was watching him and once more displayed his prodigious tongue. The house lights dimmed and the band moved into the third set with a blues variation, and soon had the crowd back in their palms. Danny was grateful for the cover of his guitar, and nearly missed the first chord change as he remembered what the skater boy had told him about later that evening. "Where you been J boi?" Mickey asked seeing him return to the table. "Checkin' things out." J boi said looking after his bag and board. "No one's gonna be messin' with your gear." Tim assured him. J boi slid into a seat beside him. Tim gave him a warm smile. "What you want from me?" J boi whispered barely loud enough for Tim to hear. "Nothin'." Tim said turning to the boy. "Not unless it's something you want." J boi's eye tightened as he considered whether he could trust this big stud. "I did what I did out there because that asshole was down on you for who you are." Tim explained. "Okay," J boi said still unsure. Tim excused himself from the table. Mickey slid over a seat. J boi eyed him suspiciously. "Don't bring that shit to me skater boy." Mick warned. "What?' "You don't trust me!" "No no Mick. Sorry dude. You're very cool. Bailed me outta that mess at the park." "Bet your sweet hot punk ass I did, and you woulda been busted otherwise." "Very true dude. Very true." "Then you listen. That big blond stud is the finest man I know." "He's very hot dude. Makes my bod ache." "No J boi, not hot, not sex, get me. He's the bomb, on and off the field, what you see is what you get. If he's on your side, somebody's always got your back. That's a solid gold guarantee, so don't play him." "C'mon Mick would I..." "Don't fuck with me J boi. I know you. You're all about the right now and no thought for the future. That's gonna change someday, sooner than you realize, In the meantime, I want you to know when Tim said he's got you covered, it's a done deal." J boi studied Mick's face for a moment and then feigned returning his attention to the band. They played real good and all, but this wasn't his kind of music. He pondered everything that'd happened tonight and remembered his promise to Jerry. He slid away from the table as soon as Conrad and Mick seemed engrossed in the performance. He saw Tim returning from the bathroom and called to him. The front of the coffee house was divided into several distinct areas. J boi wandered into one that housed several couches and tables arranged for conversation. "I really appreciate what you did for me." J boi said. "Not a big deal little man." "Nah, it is a big deal. Not too many people would stand up for a punk like me." "You gonna look like a punk, and act like a punk, people'r gonna think you're a punk. They don't see you they see the uniform. Folks see me and Cons and Mick bingo jocks and that label brings baggage with it too." "Well, just wanted to let you know Jerry isn't all wrong. I've hustled this place plenty; panhandlin' even lifted a few things, so don't get all heavy with Jerry over it K?" "Why you tellin' me this?" "`cause I think maybe you're the real deal, and I don't wanna fuck you up `cause you don't know the score. Don't want you gettin' screwed `cause I'm not what you thought. I already talked to Jerry and we're gonna work it out, K?" "Sounds to me like I was right on the money about you anyway." Tim beamed looking the boy dead in the eye. Tim's smile raised J boi's level of discomfort. He was already stressed being so honest with this relative stranger. The smile touched something in him with which he had little familiarity and he found himself trembling. Tim recognized the signs and applied the only remedy he knew. He scooped the boy into his arms and enveloped him in a monstrous hug. J boi actually struggled for a moment, then realized it wasn't any type of come on. The warmth and strength he felt in those arms began to melt his apprehensions. He relaxed into the embrace and slowly returned it. Tim could feel the change and smiled to himself. "Not everybody's to be trusted little man, but if you never open up, if you never trust anyone, we all loose. You loose because you choose to be alone, we loose `cause we never get to know you." Tim whispered. "How can you be sure?" J boi asked. "You can't. You just take it slow and learn little at a time." "and if they leave you?" J boi said his voice quaking. "Then you have the time you spent. Can't have anything more than that, `cause there isn't anything more. All the yesterdays make it up, all the tomorrows are formed by it. All we have is now. And if it's all you are and all you got you better be spendin' it wisely." "How'd you learn all this?" J boi wondered, as Tim slowly released him. "A little boy told me." Tim said as his voice thickened. "A marvelous little boy that stole my daddy's pistol and saved my life." J boi marveled at the revelation. Tim smiled through tear filled eyes. "One more piece to it." Tim remembered. "We all fuck up. We all deserve another chance." "Got some stuff to see to," J boi said excusing himself after a moment. "Not a problem little man," Tim assured him. "My name's....Justin." "Is that what you prefer?" "Don't know, maybe it's time to be Justin." "Okay Justin. See you back inside." Tim said strolling away. J boi turned the corner to find Jerry loitering at the coffee pots. He had a napkin in hand and looked a little bleary eyed. "Things pretty quiet out here?" J boi asked scoping out the store front. "It'll be pretty quiet until the end of the set." Jerry replied. "Is that space where the fridge used to be still empty? Ya know, behind the ice cream machine." He wondered digging his wallet out of his pocket. "You need something?" "No," he said putting a fiver in the tip jar. "No need to tip me Justin." "You heard!" "I heard enough." Jerry admitted. "I...I'm sorry." "I already know that." Jerry said. "I meant what I said before. I'm not gonna slide out on my deal." "Ya got a clean slate already. Consider the deal sealed." "Ya know," Justin grinned, "sealin' the deal can actually be fun." "Can it?" "Especially if the guy you're sealin' it with happens to be good lookin'." "Is that right?" "Oh yeah." "That space is still back there. How did you know about it?" "Well talk more about that later," Justin said leading the way. Sean couldn't help but watch his brother and Derrick. Something was very different about both of them this evening. They were always close, always into something together. Once he'd caught them in the act he understood part of their intimacy, but this evening there was something new. He'd seen it when they first walked in. On first glance he thought it the afterglow of a recent sexual encounter. Josh always had a certain swagger following sex. But this energy was far more enduring. As he watched they seemed to be sharing some secret that was causing them great mirth. "What the fuck?" He inquired chucking Josh in the shoulder. "Listen." Josh snickered. "What?" Sean wondered. "The beat." Derrick hinted. Sean could hear it; a persistent thud that wasn't quite in time with the song. "So the drummers not really in time." Sean shrugged. "There isn't a drummer." Josh laughed. "So who's pounding?" Derrick giggled uncontrollably as he attempted to explain. Josh, trying not to bust out and disrupt the performance, mimed an exaggerated glance at the two empty chairs at their table then pointed toward the cellar stair. He then stuffed his fist into his mouth as the time of the percussive sound picked up slightly. "Sounds like they might end together." Derrick squealed dissolving once more into a giggling idiocy. Sean could hear it now. An ironic smile crossed his face, as he noticed the door in question quake vaguely in time with the song that was swiftly coming to an end. Al was watching over Sean's shoulder and wondered what was happening. Sean directed his attention toward the door. Al quickly took up the cadence on the table top. People from the adjacent table began clapping in time. Encouraged by the audience's participation the band took it once more from the top increasing the timing slightly to match the audience. Just as the band came to the end of the song Chris emerged from the doorway. Josh led the ovation; coming to his feet. Chris moved quickly back to his chair. The entire table was on its feet laughing and clapping as Wayne made an appearance at the doorway. He was glad to see Mark hadn't returned to the table yet. Mark was emerging from one of the bathrooms in the front of the stablishment. He went to the counter only to find it vacant. He made a quick tour of the storefront then returned to the counter where he thought he heard a sound. "Hello?" He called. "I'm coming!" The reply seemed a little strained and strangely emphasized. "If you're that busy I can come back." He called out. There was a scuffling sound from behind the bar back and a young guy with long blond hair appeared. "What cha need?" "You have 7-UP or Ginger Ale?" "Stomach off?" the young counter attendant asked. "Yeah a bit." Mark admitted. "Sprite? No ginger ale. I know!" He pressed the bar on the soda dispenser and watched the machine operate. Then holding a cup angled beneath the nozzle repeated the process. The angled cup collected all of the syrup and little of the seltzer from the coke nozzle. "My Nona said they used to get coke syrup from the pharmacy when the kids had bad stomachs. Sip on this it should help." He explained handing the cup to Mark. "What I owe ya?" "S'not even a full pop, don't sweat it." "Thanks," Mark said dropping a dollar in the tip jar and heading off to the performance space. "Handled that pretty well." Jerry said emerging from the niche they'd both recently been occupying. "It's not so hard to help folks." Justin admitted. "Might be able to use someone with that attitude around here." "Like a job?" "If you'd be willing to tie back that mop and wear something a little more dignified." "A uniform!" "One of our tees and a presentable pair of jeans." Jerry suggested. "That's be okay. I could even do a shirt like yours." He said nodding to the polo Jerry wore. "That'd work too." Jerry agreed. "Now if I'm not wrong we're only half done sealing the deal." "It's cool. Already had some fun and I don't wanna get you in trouble or nothin'." "You think you're the only one that likes to suck cock?" Jerry challenged. "Now bring your ass back here and let's do this." "Dude, talk about benefits," Justin grinned. "If you're ever in need I close the place three days a week." Jerry smiled as the boy stepped into the alcove and dropped his baggies. "Speakin' of closing time..."Justin began.
