Enjoy -- Deja vu I continued, "Fellows, I must be honest with you up front so you don't get your hopes built up too much but the reality is pretty harsh. The University takes very few out-of-state students and even then offers very few academic or athletic scholarships. They can be had, but the odds are really tough." March said, "Thanks for letting us know that; we need to keep our options grounded in reality. Sure, the university is a great school, and I think the boys would do well there -- both academically and in swimming -- but there are other fine schools elsewhere in case it doesn't work out. I've told them not to put all their eggs in one basket, if you know what I mean." "I agree." About that time the phone rang. It was Dorothy, and from the sound and tone of her voice, I could tell something had happened. "Bob, when are you getting in tomorrow? There's been a development here at home. I need you here badly -- and quickly, " Dorothy said. Tanner and Robert - Chapter 12 Dr. Worthington "What's wrong, sweetheart? I asked with a level of anxiety reflected in my voice. Dorothy answered, "There's nothing wrong, darling. It's all good news, but I need you here as soon as you can get a flight in. The Governor's office just called and informed me that my nomination to the state Supreme Court has just passed the Judiciary Committee with only one dissenting vote. It goes before the Senate tomorrow. According to the Governor's aide, the nomination will pass easily; she said WE need to start planning the swearing-in ceremony for sometime next week." "That's wonderful news, Dorothy! Congratulations! Have you called the boys yet?" I responded with much enthusiasm. "No, just wanted to let you know first. It's not too late to call them, is it?" "Of course not, Your Judgeship." I quipped with a bit of humor in my voice." "Now don't you start that foolishness, DR. WORTHINGTON, dear. I'm sure the boys' demented teen humor will be sufficient for the family," she shot back, laughing. "Dorothy, I just got off the phone not five minutes ago with them. Go ahead and call now. The boys will be so excited! Since they'll be flying home this weekend, there should be no problem with scheduling the ceremony next week. In fact, I'll bet Jason would like to attend; that is, if his hectic schedule permits. Can't hurt to ask, can it? I love you and am so proud of you at this moment I could just bust!" I said. I then added, "But then I've always been proud of you, my love." Robert (a few minutes later) ". . . I'm really glad you called to tell us the news tonight rather than waiting till tomorrow, mom, Your Honorship." "Now you don't go there, Robert Chaise Worthington; you're just as bad as your dad," Mom quipped as Tanner, Kyle, and Jason listened on the speakerphone. The whole gang laughed out loud at mom's light-hearted rebuke. We again offered our heartfelt congratulations and said our good nights as I hung up. "Wow, my mom, the judge; make that OUR mom, the judge -- 'here come de judge, here come de judge, long live de judge,' " I blurted out. "You'd better not let her catch you doing that bit," Tanner said as he laughed with me -- or at me -- I'm not quite sure which myself. Uncle Jason interrupted, "Fellows, this has definitely been an evening of ups and downs; I don't know about you, but I'm whipped both physically and emotionally. Think I'll turn in. Remember, we've got a busy day tomorrow. Turning to Kyle and Tanner, Jason continued, "Don't forget, fellows. We have to go out to your home and make some decisions about what to place in storage, what to donate to charity, and what needs to be shipped to Virginia. I have a feeling it'll be a long day tomorrow so that'll mean our getting up pretty darn early." Tanner responded, "OK, Uncle Jason. I think we're all ready for bed. Right, fellows?" We all agreed and headed to our respective rooms. Tanner As Robert and I entered the bedroom, I turned to him and simply said, "'Chaise' . . . 'Chaise'. I like that name. Yep, you're definitely a 'Chaise.' " Robert grinned and responded, "Whatta you mean, I'm a 'Chaise' "? Well, 'Chaise' is a kewl name and so are you. It fits." At that moment I realized I was blushing as Robert responded by giving me a big hug. "What was that for?" I asked as Robert released me and started to undress. "For being my brother, for that sweet compliment, and, in part, in celebration of mom's new job. You know, for an afternoon that started out so terribly with Dad's plane being lost, events surely took a turn for the better, if not best," Robert answered. "I agree, Chaise --'brother who was formally known as Robert'", I quipped as I returned the hug. After completing our nightly oblations in the bathroom, we hopped in our king-sized bed a'naturale. For a few minutes the room was quiet as Robert and I, each in our own way, reflected on the events of the past few hours. It wasn't a planned thing but occurred spontaneously, perhaps as a result of the day's stress. As if on cue we both rolled over to face each other. Robert smiled, lightly rubbed my right cheek with the back of this hand and said, "Tanner, I don't think we've come to realize what a change in our lives has taken place since your knocking on our door last Saturday morning. I mean, one minute you're announcing your existence and now, just 5 days later, you and Kyle are my brothers. I mean, Mom and Dad are the parents of three -- count us, three teenagers; and, by this time next week there'll be a 'Justice Dorothy Worthington' reminding us to empty the garbage, clean our rooms and 'don't stay out too late.'" "You're right, Robert. Talk about life in the fast lane. I hope things slow down a lot once Kyle and I are settled in with you guys in Virginia. It's really a mixed bag of emotions -- I'm so damn excited and, at the same time, somewhat apprehensive about this important step Kyle and I have taken -- you know, becoming a part of your family. I mean, we've opened a new door with respect to the directions our lives are taking. Mom and Dad's death closed that other door on us so abruptly and now, this." Ever so slowly Robert slide closer to me and kissed me lightly on the cheek and said softly, "Tanner, new directions are always frightening, but, brother", and suddenly he broke into the old song by Sonny and Cher by singing "I've got you, babe." We giggled at his antics for a few moments, but then his kiss on the cheek progressed to a feather-light kiss on the lips. The innocence of my little brother's sweet kiss took my breath away. I thought, "This sexy kid is my dream come true, but us being here -- this is sooo much better than a dream. I want him so badly. God! I hope he feels the same about me." Robert continued to gaze into my eyes as if seeking permission to push the envelope even further. My normally conservative good sense was overtaken by my raging hormones and emerging passion as I pulled his body closer to mine. My hands caressed his muscular butt and began to massage that beautiful ass. Our eyes met, reflecting our growing awareness of each other's longing to move this relationship to the next level; but, at the same time, afraid, ... cautious not to move too fast so as not to hurt each other in the onrush of our teenage emotions. Robert broke the silence. "Tanner, I know we decided to take this slow and easy, my brother; but right now, at this moment in time, this feels so . . . so right." And with that intimate revaluation, Robert placed his lips to mine and slowly began a passionate and loving kiss that set my heart on fire. Throwing caution to the wind, I pulled him even closer to me and returned his passion in kind. After a few silent moments, with just the feel of our hearts beating as we lie there, our bodies touching intimately, lips to lips, chest to chest, cock to cock, I whispered, "Tanner, you're so right; this does feel so good . . . so right . . . so . . ." "Shirr . . . I know, Tanner," Robert interrupted and kissed me again, this time exploring with his hot tongue the interior of my mouth. I responded by returning the steamy kiss and began grinding my hips into him, abandoning all pretext of holding back. Our hot erections began to take a life on themselves as they lovingly rubbed against each other, demanding that Tanner and I surcome to their wants, needs, and the desire to release their hot creamy offerings to each other. With a voice propelled by the heat of our lovemaking, Robert whispered in my ear, "Tanner, I ... I love you. . .No, I've fallen in love with you ... your body, your soul, your being. You're my brother, but I want us to be more, so much more . . . my love ... I started to respond when a soft knock on the door and Kyle's voice haltingly said, "Tanner? Robert? You guys awake? Can I come in?" Kyle Immediately after my knocking on their door, I heard some rustling around and voices so I knew that they were not asleep. I waited for a response. Tanner voice answered, "Yea, come on in, Kyle. I don't think the door's locked." As I entered I sensed that my entrance was untimely and that I had interrupted something -- their faces were flushed, the covers were pulled up to their chests, and I could faintly detect what looked liked tenting under the sheets. Then the realization of what I intruded upon hit me! I started back-peddling out of their room. "I . . . I'm so sorry, guys! I ... I ... didn't mean to interrupt what was obviously . . . Hey, I'll just see you two in the morning," I stammered, a bit embarrassed for them and for me. I turned abruptly to make my exit. "Kyle, no, don't leave; come on in; it's all right. We were just . . ." Robert responded, but the expression on this face told me otherwise. "Get you ass in here, bro," Tanner commanded lovingly. "What's wrong? You just didn't come here to inquire about our health? ...OK, what gives?" The concern in my brother's voice and the concerned look on Robert's face released the dam for me as I, uncharacteristically, broke into sobs, with tears profusely flowing down my face. At that point Tanner, forgetting that he was unclothed and still slightly semi-hard, leaped out of bed, rushed to me and engulfed me in his arms. I buried my damp face in his chest as held me close and gently rubbed my back. "Kyle, tell me! What's wrong? ... Your head hurting again? ... Do we need to get you back to the hospital?" Tanner continued with a bit of panic in his voice. "No, no, I'm physically fine; it's just ... I just can't, Tanner, I don't think I can do what has to be done tomorrow ... being out at the house, remembering Mom and Dad and ... and those wonderful times before ... before..." I took a deep breath and continued. "I'm sorry, guys, for being such a wuss, but just the thought of having to see their things, of having to decide what to do with them. Tanner, it just brings it all back ... that night, Uncle Jason's telling us that Mom and Dad were ... were ... dead... killed in the accident by a drunk! Shit, shit, shit!!! It's so FUCKING unfair!!!" I almost screamed, but caught myself. By that time, Robert, unclothed too, was hugging me also and whispering soothingly, "It's OK, Kyle. It's OK. Just let it all out, bro." I broke away from both Tanner and Kyle shouting, "NO, IT"S NOT OK. IT"S NEVER GOING TO BE AGAIN! NEVER AGAIN!" Uncle Jason "He'll be alright for now, fellows. That injection will knock him out for while. When he comes around, this combination panic attack, hysteria and flashback will subside. Part of this is a side effect of the cranial injury and surgery. He may not even remember part, or any, of this outburst. And, Tanner, you know, Kyle has never really gone through the grieving process like you did. Maybe this was healthy thing for him, as painful as may have seen to you two." "Thanks, Uncle Jason," Tanner replied, but the tone in his voice implied that he wasn't totally convinced of what I said. "Now you two get to bed. I'll sleep in here with Kyle tonight. Tomorrow's going to be a long, hard day. I really do think he'll be able to deal with it by the morning. You know, he's always been good at facing his demons and fears," I continued, "even when he was a little tyke." "Good night, Uncle Jason. Golly, it's times like this when I remember how glad I am that you're still a doctor," Tanner responded, with a grin on his face. "Let's hit the sack, 'Chaise'. I turned my face to them and questioned, "'Chaise', what's this 'Chaise' thing?" "Never mind, Uncle Jason. I'll explain at a more appropriate time. But, from now on, he's 'Chaise' to me," Tanner continued. "Right, bro?" Tanner grabbed Chaise in a headlock and dragged him into their bedroom. Chaise offered no resistance, but whispered as loudly as he could, "Good night, Uncle Jason. Take good care of my new brother. I love him!" p.s. This chapter is dedicated to my new friend Steven in Australia whose facing some medical difficulties in the very near future. This story is about hope and love. I wish that and a restoration of good health for him!
