Chapter 16
Life is good

It was late July and the twins had been packed for two days, but finally the day had arrived for their trip to Disneyland. John and Jimmy had arrived early that day and they'd all had breakfast together and then played video games until they couldn't stand to sit still any longer.

Grabbing their luggage they ran downstairs to bug the twin's parents.

"When will the taxi be here?" Jaden asked his dad for the third time.

"Jaden...boys, settle down. Uber is on the way, but we still have almost two hours before our flight leaves."

"I've never flown before," Jimmy said nervously.

"Well...neither have I," John said, "but I heard it's fun...and safe."

"We flew once, right dad? But we were little then. I don't remember much, do you Jaden?"

"I just remember the clouds....they were so big and fluffy."

"How long does it take to get to California?" Jimmy wanted to know.

They spent the next few minutes discussing the details of the trip and before they knew it the sound of a horn sent the boys running to the front door.

"It's the taxi or whatever and it's a big SUV," Jaden yelled.

"Good, I wasn't looking forward to being jammed into a sedan with you four boys," Mr. Reynolds joked.

"We'll ride in the back okay dad, and you and mom can sit behind the driver."

They quickly carried their luggage out and stowed it behind the last seat then piled into the large vehicle, the four boys in the last two rows and the twins' parents in the captain chairs in the second row.

"This is it," Jaden said high-fiving his friends and his twin brother, "we're finally on our way."

The trip to the airport took about twenty minutes and the driver let them off in front of the terminal and helped them get their luggage inside before driving off. They checked their luggage and got screened, which was less painless than they'd feared, then took their boarding passes to the waiting area and found seats.

The boys sat down for maybe a second before they were up and poking around. The big arrival and departure board showed that their flight was on schedule, but there was still almost a half hour before it was due to depart.

"Hey, lets go take a leak," Jaden suggested.

"Okay, I'll tell mom and dad," Aidan said, always the sensible and thoughtful one.

He was back in a flash and the four boys went off to find the nearest bathroom. There was no door on the restroom, instead the entrance made an L-blocking the line of sight and thus eliminating the need for a door.

Once inside they were amazed at the size of the place. Along one wall were a half dozen sinks, as many urinals, and eight enclosed stalls. There were a couple of men in suits at the urinals and and two of the stalls were occupied, leaving plenty of room for the four boys.

"Let's go back there," Jaden said pointing toward the stalls.

The three eagerly followed him to the last stall which spanned the entire back wall and was designed for handicap access. It was large enough for all four boys, but they peed in pairs and didn't put their junk away when they were done.

"That's our plane," Jaden said pointing at a huge American Airlines jet being refueled.

"Wow, it's so big," John said wide eyed, "It's hard to believe anything that big can fly through the air."

"It's magic," Aidan giggled, "There's a big cover up so no one knows, but let's face it...that's the only way it could work," he teased.

Jimmy wrinkled his brow and frowned, "Huh uh, it's just a matter of aerodynamics..or something like that. The air goes under the wings and lifts them up or something and the jet engine keep it going forward at a fast speed."

Everyone stared at Jimmy for a minute then he blushed, "Well...I do read you know."

Everyone burst out laughing and they continued to watch the busy airport traffic.

Eventually their flight number was called and after the special needs passengers were boarded the family and friends cued up in line and eventually made it inside. There were four seats in a single row separated by the aisle and two more directly behind the seat on the right side of the plane. The boys paired off in the four seats in a row and Mr. And Mrs. Reynolds occupied the seat directly behind Jaden and Jimmy.

There was some last minute nervous chatter and reassurances from the adults and before they knew it the plane was taxiing out onto the runway.

"Here we go," Jaden cried excitedly, "Hang on to your butts boys."

"Jaden...language," Mrs. Reynolds said trying not to laugh.

The boys had been coached on what to expect but knowing something and experiencing it were two entirely different things. When the jet was cued up on the runway the boys stared out of the window at the tarmac and waited breathlessly. Suddenly the jet began to move, slowly at first, but quickly building up speed till it was vibrating and shuddering, the whine of the jet engines almost deafening.

"Here we go....." Jaden repeated as the jet finally reached take off speed and they began to ascend.

The jet climbed for what seemed like an eternity then began to level off and suddenly the boys forgot their fear as they stared out at the almost blinding blue sky of eternity.

"Oh my God, that was so amazing," Aidan gasped, "It was like being shot out of a cannon."

"Look how high up we are," Jaden said pointing at the scenery below, "People look like ants."

"This is so awesome," Jimmy said in a shaky voice, "Wish my mom could be here," he added then blushed.

The twins had never thought that one or both of their friends might actually be a little home sick or miss their moms, but they were sure that they'd get over it once they got to DL.

Eventually the seat belt sign went off and they unbuckled and Jimmy and John swarmed their partner so they could look out the window. Behind them the Reynolds sat holding hands and talking quietly. This was as much a vacation for them as it was for the kids and they were looking forward to three days of fun and adventure, as well as having some quiet time alone in their room.

They had booked a two bedroom suite with a small kitchenette and living room, as well as two full baths. The arrangement would allow them some degree of privacy, while ensuring that the boys were safe and somewhat chaperoned.

They had no doubts that once the boys were alone in their room there would be some degree of intimacy, but like the army, they had developed a don't ask, don't tell policy when it came to that sort of thing. They had had the talk with both the twins and they were sure the information had been passed on to Jimmy and John as well. They were concerned, but not worried, and felt they had enough of a rapport with their boys that if any real issues arose they'd be consulted.

After a while the flight attendant, a handsome young man that aroused some interest in Jaden, came by with the beverage cart and hooked them up with sodas and peanuts. While they ate their snack they talked about their plans trying not to be too loud and disturb the other passengers around them. Behind them the twins' parents held hands and talked quietly, enjoying their time together and anticipating what lay ahead.

The flight was uneventful and when they landed at LAX the boys were amazed at how gently they touched down. The boring part was waiting to taxi to the terminal and by the time they started unboarding the boys quickly led the way down the aisle and out of plane.

At the rental desk Mr. Reynolds picked up the keys to the SUV he had reserved and they retrieved their luggage and were whisked by shuttle to the parking spot where the rental was parked. Checking to make sure the Ford Explorer was gassed up and ready to go, he tipped the shuttle driver and they loaded up their luggage and they were on their way.

The trip to the motel took almost an hour due to traffic and Mr. Reynolds unfamiliarity with the area, not to mention the crazy drivers, and by the time they got there the adults were ready for some down time. Even the boys seemed to have calmed down some, but once they saw the suite their excitement returned.

"This is so cool," Jaden said opening the sliding glass door that looked out on the pool area,"Can we go swimming later?"

"I suppose," Mr. Reynolds said smiling, "but first I want everyone to unpack and wind down a little. Then we'll find a store and buy some snacks and things for later, but for now we'll hit the soda machine I saw in the lobby. But first the unpacking."

The boys suite had two full size beds and though it didn't have the same view as the living area did, it did have a nice view of a green belt with trees and landscaping. The boys fell down on the beds, Jaden and Jimmy claiming the one closest to the window, and for a moment they lay there just relaxing and savoring the sweetness of the moment.

"This is like...like some kind of wonderful dream come true," Jimmy said snuggling into his bf.

"I know. Hey, enough sad stuff...let's get our stuff put up and see if we can get mom and dad to let us go check the place out."

They quickly unpacked and after peeing in the bathroom adjoining their room they went to find the adults.

"Can we go check out the pool area and stuff?" Jaden said giving his parents his best smile.

"I suppose, but take your cell phones. I want you boys to make it a habit from now on. I don't want to risk you getting lost...or worse, while we're in California."

"No problem dad, I'll be taking lots of pics and posting them to my Facebook and Instagram accounts."

"Okay, be back in an hour. Meanwhile we'll figure out where we're going to do our shopping and what restaurants are nearby."

The boys rushed out the door and down the stairs and soon they were through the gate and in the pool area. Jaden noticed one in particular and gave him a good looking over before elbowing Aidan and smiling.

Eventually they broke away and went back to the room to find their parents changed and anxious to go shopping. They'd checked Google to find the nearest Target and that's where they were headed.

Traffic was less heavy now and they had no trouble finding the store and forty five minutes later they were on their way back to the motel. The boys had already asked permission to go swimming when they got back and the adults had agreed and intended to join them.

After putting the supplies away they got dressed in their swimwear and headed out as a group. As the boys had hoped the two brothers were still there and when they saw the four they climbed out and swarmed them.

"This is Jacob and Alex, our new friends," Jaden said introducing the two to his parents.

After introductions the boys ran off to play in the pool leaving the adults to their own devices. "Whoa, really?" Alex said wide-eyed, "Do your folks know?"

"That's for us to know...and you to figure out," Jaden laughed, then swimming off he left the two brothers to think what they would.

Jacob laughed, "You gotta lot to learn baby brother," he said dunking the boy then swimming off.

Jacob blushed, but it was hard to see with his dark skin color, though it was easily readable in his eyes and demeanor.

"Do your folks know...uh, that you do that stuff?"

"Well, they did give us the sex talk, so I guess they know, but we don't exactly go around shouting it to the world."

"How bout' at school. Does other kids know...you know, that you're (whispers) gay?"

Alex elbowed his brother and pulled his head down to whisper in his ear. Jacob nodded and looked up at Jaden and grinned.

"He knows, don't he?" Jaden laughed.

Jacob shrugged, "We've done some stuff...."

"I thought so. Well, anything you can think of, we pretty much do that."

"Even kiss?" Alex said covering his mouth as if he'd just said a swear word.

"Oh yeah, kissing is awesome," Aidan said jumping in to the conversation, "and snuggling and hugging. Sometimes it's more fun than the other stuff."

"I don't know, I've never really kissed anyone..." Jacob said frowning.

"Not even a girl?" John said looking amused.

"Nope, not really. I mean I got a peck on the cheek one time from a girl, but I was only 6 then."

"Well, pucker up," Jaden teased.

Everyone laughed then, but Jacob couldn't help but wonder what kissing the cute twin would be like. He didn't really think much about what it might mean to want to kiss a boy. After dinner Mr. Reynolds drove around for a while mapping out the route they'd take to DL the next day and by the time they arrived back at the hotel it was pushing 9 o'clock. The boys excused themselves to their room while the adults settled in to watch some TV and wind down before bed.

"What are we gonna do?" Jimmy asked plopping down on the bed he was to share with Jaden.

"I have my laptop, we could use the motel wi-fi and watch a movie or something," Jaden suggested.

"Or make some," Aidan added grinning widely.

"What did he say?" Aidan said anxiously.

"Relax, I just gotta go clear it with the rents."

Jaden was gone only a couple of minutes and he had already hung up his phone.

"So...what happened?"

"They're on the way over, their rents had to hear from our rents that it was cool."

"Really, that's way cool. I was afraid they'd say no this late at night."

"Jacob said they always stay up late when there's no school and his folks stay up even later, and...this is a vacation, so the rules get stretched a little."

The two boys arrived a few minutes later and the four met them at the door. After saying hello to the Twin's parents, the two allowed themselves to be led off to the boys' bedroom. As soon as they were inside and the door closed Jaden suggested they get comfy.

The four had donned their shorts when they'd gone out to meet the new arrivals, but now they shucked them leaving the two brothers to decide if they wanted to join them.

"Do you guys always run around in your underwear?" Jacob asked.

"Every chance we get," Jaden giggled, "mostly we run around naked."

" Why don't you join us," Aidan said smiling.

Jacob took the lead and when Alex saw that it was all right he began removing his shorts as well. They called in pizza and ate in the family room in front of the TV while enjoying each other's company and talking about their trip. At bed time Jaden found a message on his phone from Jacob. The family had driven back to their home in San Francisco and they had gone out to dinner and a movie that night as a family.

Jaden texted him back and they chatted for almost an hour and when they said goodnight they promised to keep in touch. Then at the last minute Jaden called the other three over and took a pic and sent it to Jacob, a few minutes later a pic of Jacob and Alex came back and they both said goodbye once more.

The boys were a bit quiet as they settled down to bed, pairing off with their boyfriends and once again they were content to just play as couples. In fact there wasn't a lot of playing that night. The excitement of the day and the flight had tired them out, and aside from a little kissing and making out the intimacy was rather tame that night. They had a lot to think about and a lot of feelings to process, but in the end they were young and resilient and as always they would bounce back and be the fun loving, life loving boys they'd always been.

Sorry it took so long to get this chapter out and that it's such a short one, but I've had some real life issues and a general lack of laziness lately. I will try to pick up the pace as I go forward and get the chapters out in a more timely manner. Next I will be working on a new chapter of Tween to Teen and in the mean time I have posted a Halloween short story called Trick or Treat Dress Up, hope you like it.
