Twin Spin, Part 2 Chapter 8 In a minute, Kevin said he was tired and needed to go to bed. He got up and headed down toward the barn. Brian got up to go with him. "Why don't you wait here for him, Brian," Chuck said. Brian sat back down. We were all rather subdued. Kevin came back from the barn. "Good night, everybody. Chuck, that was a great meal. Thanks. Dad it's great to have you home. Good to see you, Calvin. Night, Brian. Night, John." We all told him good night. In a minute, Brian claimed fatigue, too, and took off. "It looks like the party's breaking up," Tom said. "Frankly, I've been aching to get into my own bed for a change. I think I'll turn in, too. Good night, everybody." We all said good night. We took the drinks and other stuff inside and set it on the kitchen counter. Calvin and Chuck were spending the night. It was late, and they had both had a fair amount to drink. As I neared the top of the stairs, I could hear the boys talking. "I never said that, Brian. I never said I didn't ever want to have sex with you, Huck." "I just thought..." "Just because I'm fucking Lou doesn't mean I never want you." "The fact that you're straight doesn't change anything," Brian asked. "I was always straight. Did it matter then?" "Good point." What I heard next was the sound of kissing. I peeked into Kevin's room. The were side by side on the edge of Kevin's bed. He was already naked, but Brian still had his clothes on. They were, indeed, locked in a passionate embrace. Kevin had a hard-on, and Brian was gently stroking it. In a minute they broke the kiss, and Kevin helped Brian get undressed. They got into bed with the covers pulled down to the end. "Just hold me, Huck," Brian said. "Oh, that feels so good. I've missed you." Kevin didn't respond except to cuddle with Brian even more. In a few minutes, Brian took Kevin's cock into his mouth in one gulp. He rode it up and down with his lips, and I could see the movement of his tongue through his cheeks as he pleasured his brother. "Oh, that feels good, Brian. Ohhhh." Brian pulled off. "Don't come on me yet, here. I want you to fuck me." "Okay, baby brother. I can still outlast you." "Sure, but let's don't prove you right just yet," Brian said. They kissed some more, licked and sucked each others' nipples, and generally made love the way two men who genuinely love and care for one another do. In a few minutes, Brian said, "I'm ready for you, Huck." Brian got on his back, and Kevin lifted his legs. He moved down to lick Brian's ass and to play with it with his mouth. Brian moaned softly. Then Kevin entered Brian, and the two separate men became one again. I didn't stay to watch what I'm sure they thought was a private moment between them, but I was glad I had seen what I did. With the possible exception of the day they got the horses, I was reasonably sure Kevin and Brian had not had sex with each other since we returned from the trip. Kevin had made enormous progress in the weeks since our return, and now, part of that progress was to admit his brother to his bed. Oh complication, thy name is Finch, I thought and went to bed. The last days of summer tumbled over one another, and it was Labor Day weekend before we knew it. The boys had originally thought classes started on the Tuesday after Labor Day, September 5, but they learned from Kevin's football coach that they didn't start until Wednesday of that week. Brian's Rudy had to be back at Duke for the start of classes on the fifth, and Brian desperately wanted to drive him back to school. Rudy's parents were amenable, and Brian was prepared to miss the first day of school to do that. As it worked out, he wouldn't have to miss the first day. Mike flew up on Thursday for the weekend and planned to stay until Tuesday. He was in the process of winding down his stint in New Orleans, and he would be moving to Asheville in early October. He wanted to do some apartment hunting on that trip. When I met Mike at the airport, he hugged me warmly. "I've really missed you," he said. We had been talking to one another at least once a day, but Mike didn't have a lot of time to talk on the phone during his work day. Brian had hooked up a WebCam to the computer in my room, and Mike had had one installed at the Finch house in New Orleans. We were able to chat live and to see each other on the screen. We had had more than one hot jerk-off session that way, but it wasn't the same as touching him in person, of course. "I've missed you, too, Mike. God, it's good to see you in person for a change. Tom's home now, and the boys go back to school next week. I should be able to get to New Orleans more often." "Great. How are the little fuckers, by the way?" "Well, things are a whole lot better. Kevin made the football team, as you know, and their first game is a week from tomorrow. Any possibility you could come up for it? It would give him a hard-on that would punch a hole in his cup." Mike laughed. "Maybe. I'll have to see. I'd love to be here for it. I could fly out Friday around noon and be here in plenty of time, probably. Let me check when I get back, but I think that's a definite possibility." Mike believed in travelling light, so all he had were two carry-on bags. We were out of the airport and in my car in less than ten minutes. The drive to the place was beautiful. Mike hadn't seen it before, and he was in awe. Chuck was the only one home when we got there, and he made us a fresh pot of coffee. He and Mike renewed their acquaintance, and all three of us had coffee together. After coffee, I took Mike up to my room. It didn't take us long to get naked and in bed, and we made ferocious love for the better part of an hour. "God, you're good, Prescott," he said, once we had cleaned up and settled down beside one another in bed. "You ain't so bad yourself, Simmons," I said. "Mike?" "Yes?" "I love you." "I know. John?" "Yes?" "I love you." "I know." "John?" "Yes?" "Can we get up? I have a need for a drink." "Mike?" "Yes?" "So do I." We both laughed. We kissed and got up. When we got downstairs, Chuck had already anticipated our needs. "There's ice, glasses, and whiskey on the patio. Fucking's thirsty work," Chuck said. Mike howled with laughter. "Yeah, and even when you get something to drink out of it, it kind of coats the inside of your mouth," I said. "If you're lucky enough to still have a mouth left. I suppose it depends on the size of the spigot, though," Chuck said. "No need to worry about my spigot. You worry about your own spigot." "Don't use a spigot. I use a hose," Chuck returned. He waited a second to see what I would say. Then he said it: "Gotcha last." All three of us laughed. Once outside, Mike said, "I've got to sharpen my wits. It had slipped my mind about these guys and that game they play endlessly. What's it called?" "The Dozens, and Chuck is a master at it." "Right," Mike said. "The Dozens." We made drinks and settled down on lounges. "So what's been going on, John?" "Well, I think you already know all the main stuff. I told you about the horses, didn't I?" "No. What horses?" I told Mike all about the confrontation between Kevin and Brian about sports and that Brian had bought them each a horse. I told him about Brian and Rudy, about Kevin's girlfriend Louise, and about Kevin's basically new lifestyle. "Well, is the sex between them over," Mike asked. I told him about my eavesdropping and spying on them the night Tom got home. "So they're still doing it," he asked. "That's the only confirmed occasion I know of since we got home from New Jersey. Chuck thinks they had sex the day Brian bought the horses, but that's not for sure." "Kevin told me he's never said that sex with men was out of the question for him, but I think he's just a horny kid who isn't afraid to take advantage of a guy with a boner. Brian is complicated, but Kevin is so fucking complicated I can't begin to figure him out." "How does he identify his sexuality now? Gay, bi, or straight," Mike asked. "Oh, he doesn't deny he's straight. I mean, it's not like it comes up every day, or anything, but when I've heard him talking about it, he doesn't hesitate to say that he's straight." "What about you? Have you come out to them," he asked. "No, not in so many words, but they all assume I'm gay, and I am. I know that now. Hell, I've always known it. In this environment, being straight is the anomaly, not being gay. What about yourself? Have you come out to anyone?" "Who would I come out to, John? My patients? 'Hi, I'm Dr. Simmons, your gay endocrinologist.'" "I see your point. You haven't seen any guys?" "No, I haven't, John." There was tension in his voice. "I haven't even touched myself except to piss and wash that you weren't there, either on NetMeeting or in person. This thing belongs to you, man," he said, pointing to his crotch. "It's yours, and I'm yours. Have you been seeing guys?" I suddenly got the Kevin syndrome and started tearing up. "What's wrong," Mike asked. "What you said is so wonderful, Mike. I've been the same way. I didn't even get hard when I saw Kevin mount Brian that night." He got up and came to me. "Oh, baby, I love you, and I guess you love me, too." "Well, there was one exception." "No problem." "Well, nothing happened, but I want you to know about it." I told him about riding with Kevin and getting hard. "Well, Jesus Christ, man, who wouldn't get hard under those circumstances. I get hard all the time, John. I just don't do anything about it. And, you know what? I don't care if you jerk off five times a day, as long as you think about me at least once when you're doing it." I laughed. I used my napkin to wipe my eyes and to blow my nose. I got myself together. I knew then how embarrassed Kevin must have been when he was on his crying jag. "This is embarrassing, Mike. I'm sorry," I said. He got very serious in an instant. "Don't you ever fucking be embarrassed in front of me. Do you hear? I love you. You can never embarrass yourself with me. Period. Just as I feel I can never embarrass myself in front of you." "I know that, Mike, but it might take me a while to get there, okay?" "Of course it's okay, baby. Of course it's okay." Right after that, Tom drove up. He walked onto the patio because he saw we were out there. "Mike, how good to see you," he said. "Thanks, Tom. How good of you to have me for the weekend." "Well, you're always welcome here. We consider you part of the family, anyway," Tom said. "Thanks, Tom," Mike said. "Can I make you a drink." "Oh, yes, please. Where is everybody, John?" "Well Chuck's in the kitchen, I guess. Kevin should be screeching up any minute from football practice or weight training or mountain lifting or whatever the hell he does." "Louise-pumping," Tom asked. Mike and I laughed. "Yeah, that, too, although it's kind of an odd hour for that. He'll be here in a few minutes. I really don't know where Brian is. I could call him." "Naw. They're big boys now. They can take care of themselves." Kevin did, in fact, pull up just at that moment. He saw Mike as soon as he got out of his car, and he came running over. "Mike-man! What up, dude?" Kevin embraced Mike like a long-lost brother. "Not much, man. What up wit chew?" "Hi, Kevin," Tom said. "Oh, shit. Rewind." He ran out to his car, backed it up, and then parked it again. He ran over to us, said "Hi, Dad. How was your day? Hi, Mike. Welcome to baseball-bats-in-waiting. Good to see you." We all laughed at his antics. "How was that one," Kevin asked. "Better than the first time, but try it again," I said. "Fuck you," Kevin replied. "Fine, Kevin. And fuck you, too," I said. "Is this supposed to be your lame-ass attempt at the Dozens, or something," Kevin asked me. "No, Kevin. Not the Dozens. I just wanted to see how deep that guilt complex of yours really runs." Kevin's demeanor changed instantly. All of a sudden, he became dark and depressed. "That fucker told you, didn't he? He swore to me that what I told him was in absolute confidence, and he probably called you up the moment I left his office. God, I hate him!" "What are you talking about, man," I asked. Shit. What had I done? "Spaulding. That motherfucker called you and told you about my guilt feelings, didn't he?" "No, man. Settle down, Huck. I haven't spoken to him. I'm sorry I upset you. I just said that because it popped into my head, man." I was almost frantic. Then it dawned on me. "Well, actually, Kevin, you don't have a guilt complex. You really are guilty." He realized I had caught on. His face lit up with an enormous grin. "So Dr. Spaulding didn't tell you," he asked. "No, Kevin, he didn't." "So I don't have to kill him," he asked. "No. Let Dr. Spaulding live," I said. "So it's you I have to kill," he said. "Kevin, you got him last on that one," Tom said. "Let's all have a drink and forget that fucking game for a while, shall we?" "What game, Daddy," Kevin asked. "Kevin, you are absolutely ruthless," Tom said. "Like father, like son. That's why I want to be the head of Finches, Incorporated some day." "It's 'Finch, Incorporated,' son," Tom said. "Not when I take over. We're switching to the bird business. There are a lot more birds in this world than there are computers, Dad. Think about it." "Kevin, go to your room," Tom said. "Yes, sir," Kevin said. He turned and started walking to the house. "Kevin, get your ass back here." He came back. He had the worse hang-dog face on him I'd ever seen. "Son, you knew I was just teasing you about going to your room. Didn't you?" "Yes, sir, Dad. That's why I got your ass last." "Go to the barn. That's your room from now on," Tom said. I knew he was just setting himself up. "Yes, sir. There's someone in the barn who loves me, and I'll gladly sleep there with Misty. I know where I'm loved, sir. Good bye." "Jesus Christ," Tom said. "Kevin. Come back here." Kevin obeyed. "Kevin, you knew I was teasing you, didn't you?" "Yes, sir. That's why I can say with a clear conscience and a good heart, gotcha last." "You shitass. I hate that fucking game," Tom said. "Only when you lose, Dad. You love it when you win," Kevin said. "Got me last on that one, too, Kevin. You've come a long way, son." "You mean since you purposely left Brian and me in that park in San Francisco. Because you didn't want gay sons?" "no. No. NO! Not that fucking game anymore, Kevin. And I mean it." "Yes, sir." Kevin was sincere when he said that, but I wondered if they knew what the time limit was. "Now sit down, have a drink, and tell us about your day," Tom said. Kevin recited his break-neck schedule that started at 4:30 AM. "So how can you still be up, Kevin," Tom asked. Even I saw that as an open invitation to the Dozens. "I think it's because of John and Mike, Dad." Tom saw where that was going right away. "No, Kevin. I withdraw the question." Brian drove up about then, and Rudy was with him. They came over to the table and said hello. Brian introduced Rudy to Mike. Brian made drinks for Rudy and himself. We made small talk until Chuck announced that dinner was ready. After dinner, Rudy and Brian disappeared, Tom went in to watch TV, and that left Mike, Kevin, and I together. "I guess you guys want to do something by yourselves tonight, huh," Kevin asked. "Yeah, Kevin, we kind of do," I said. "Do you mind?" "Oh, hell no. I would, too, if I were you guys, J." He got up to leave the dining room. "Y'all have fun tonight. See you in the morning." "Night, Kevin," Mike and I said, more or less in unison. "I was a little worried he'd want to tag along," I said. "Yeah, me, too," Mike replied. "I know he's made friends, but he doesn't have anything like a best friend, or anything. He'll either end up going over to Lou's apartment or watching TV with Tom. He'll find something to do. Besides, I don't really care what he does." I leaned over and kissed Mike. "What do you want to do, Babe," I asked him. "What's the night life like here," Mike asked. "It's not what it is in New Orleans, that's for sure. I've only been out a few times. Do you want to go downtown and check it out?" "Sounds great. I'd like to get a shower first, though, and I think you could use one, too." "That sounds great, too," I said with an evil grin. "Let's go." It was a few minutes after eight by the time we finished showering and were dressed to go out. Kevin's door was open, and the light was on. I walked down to it to see what he was doing. He was sound asleep with the book he had been reading open flat on his chest. He was in just his briefs, so I figured he was out for the night. I turned the light off and gently closed his door. Mike was right behind me and saw him, too. "Beautiful, isn't he," Mike whispered. "Yeah," I whispered back. There were some pretty nice places downtown, and Mike and I did some bar hopping. In one place, we saw a guy in his mid-twenties sitting at a table all by himself, so we invited him to join us. He turned out to be a new graduate student at UNCA and would be starting work on his MBA when I did. Like me, he had taken a liberal arts major in college, and, like me, he would have to take prerequisites for a few semesters to get all the work he needed for graduate school. His name was Morgan Doolittle. He stayed with us for a while, and then he went home. "He seemed like a nice enough guy," I said, after he had called it a night. "Yeah, he did. I think he's gay, too," Mike said. "Yeah, I picked up on that, too," I replied. "Stay away from him." Mike's tone was mock-severe. "Jealous," I asked. "You're damn right, I am." Then, "Not really. I was teasing you." "I wouldn't mind if you were a little jealous," I said. "If you can live with Kevin and Brian, and not get into their pants, I don't have a thing to worry about." He grinned. "I have a few times, but not since my trip to New Orleans to see you," I said. "That's another thing. Just like I don't care if you jerk off, I don't care what you do with those two. I just don't want you prowling around bars picking up guys and fucking them in alleys and shit." I laughed. Then he laughed. "Let's go out to the alley and have a smoke. You want to?" "You asshole," Mike said. "Your asshole or mine. It doesn't matter," I said. "What the fuck are you talking about?" "The fuck," I said. "Oh, shit. Not you, too." "Of course I shit. Everyone shits." I knew he knew I was doing the Dozens, but I didn't think he knew how to get out of it. "But not in alleys," he said. There was a long pause because I couldn't think of a come-back. "Gotcha last," he said. We both roared with laughter, as much at the silliness we had been reduced to as at the cleverness of the line. After we stopped laughing, I said, "It's fun, isn't it?" "Yeah, it is. And I can see how it really develops your ability to think quickly under stress. It's actually a pretty cool game. But let's don't play anymore, okay?" "Why? Does it tire you out to come back fast?" "Yeah, I guess so." "It don't tire your ass out to come fast, though, does it?" "Shit. No, Quick-Draw McGraw. Not like it does you." "Quick-Draw McGraw?" "Don't you watch the Cartoon Network? Quick-Draw McGraw is a cartoon character," Mike said. "He look like you," I asked. "Okay, go ahead and say it," Mike said. "Gotcha last, Mikey, you cute thing, you." "I've got a come-back line for that, but I'm not going to use it because I want to quit the game." "Let's get out of here. Are you ready?" "Yeah. I had to get up early this morning," Mike said. "I'm ready for some sack time with you, Sugar Britches." "Oh, please," I said. I drove us home. On the way, Mike asked, "Am I moving too fast for you, J?" I noted he used the kids' nickname for me. "What do you mean," I asked. "Well, if two guys could get married, in the conventional sense of the word, I'm ready to marry you tomorrow. I'd like you to be my life partner, the only person in my 'real' life. Are you there, too?" I thought about it for a minute. Then I said, "I now know I'm gay, through and through. You now know you're gay through and through. I've liked you enormously since we first met at that club in New Orleans in June, but it isn't even quite Labor Day yet. I love you. No question about it. And I know you love me. But let's don't do anything publicly until we've been together a while. Is that okay?" "And here I thought I was the sensible one. And I am, with everything but you. But you're right. Let's get to know one another better before we make any commitments." "That's cool," I said. "It'll happen in time, but let's give each other time." That night Mike made love to me in a way I'd never been made love to before. By the time we were finished, I was ready to say "yes" to his proposal. But I knew we had to wait.
