I looked over at Wyatt and he grinned just a little. It was hot and without a doubt you could tell it was foreign but it wasn't in ruins or anything else that I had assumed. Within minutes of stepping on Iraqi soil Wyatt and I were headed off to report in. It took less than 30 minutes to find the command tent and check in, then we were headed down to the motor pool where we would be transported fifty miles to a pumping station used to move Iraqi oil onto foreign ships. The ride was uneventful other than being hotter than heck. Wyatt smiled the entire time and soon he had me daydreaming. Had we been somewhere else? I'd probably have raped him, but being here I kept myself composed, he must have known cause he gave me that look that said, "Am I that unlucky or what?" Before sun down we were secured behind tall fences and safely inside a metal building complete with air conditioning. We reported directly to Captain Jobe Matthews of the US Army he was assigned as an Engineer for the same reason. It didn't take us long to get settled in then Jobe showed us around. During chow Joe told us what to expect. It sounded like we'd get plenty of engineering experience without having to dodge bullets 24/7. By 5am I was up and showering, I had just left the shower when Wyatt walked by I gave him my best wink. He smiled and mouthed `love you.' He made me feel great just knowing he was near. After chow we headed out to work on some of the pressure and flow issues that had been arising out of the frequent bombings the pipeline experienced. Around noon, all hell broke loose, it seemed like bullets were flying everywhere, actually there were probably 10 insurgents firing through the fence trying to hit whatever they could. As soon as the grunts opened up three insurgents' lay dead at the foot of the fence and the rest disbursed. I looked around everything looked normal, then my heart started running a million miles an hour, where was Wyatt? I didn't have to wait long. I heard someone yelling Corpsman. I followed the shouting and found Wyatt lying on the ground in a pool of blood at first I thought he was dead. I had never felt so scared the corpsman must have seen the look on my face he pointed to Wyatt's knee, he'd been shot in the leg and it looked like the bullet had blown the front of his knee off. The corpsman applied a pressure dressing and inserted an IV into Wyatt's arm. I looked down at Wyatt. He pretended not to be in any pain. I held onto his arm as he was lifted to a stretcher. The helicopter crew let me ride to the field hospital. The doctor that saw Wyatt told him he was headed back to the States on the next plane, Wyatt needed an Orthopedic Surgeon his leg required a complicated surgical procedure. I sat with him through the night as he slept and when he woke up he looked around grabbing my hand and holding it tight to his chest. Wyatt cried silently, whispering that he was going to die without me with him. I felt the same but reminded him about our plans. Around 3am it was quite, the nurse sat across the room a small lamp illuminating her, the patients had sheets cordoning off each bed, I looked around carefully, then stood up and pulled Wyatt in my arms and told him how much I loved him and how proud I was of him. He looked at me, his eyes filling with tears, he whispered begging e to come home soon. I swore to him. I would. Wyatt was flown out the next morning to a waiting hospital ship for further transfer to the United States. The minute he was out of sight I felt two things, relief that he was gone from this place and depression when I realized that he'd be going through treatment without me to help him. I caught a ride back to the pumping station and was soon using a MARS line to call mother. As soon as she heard what happened she took control telling me she'd take care of Wyatt from where she was. She proceeded to tell me how proud my father would be of the two of us, her words made me tear up, I looked around before wiping my eyes. I told mother I loved her and Wyatt, then I hung up. It was hard for me to think. I reported to Jobe, he told me to get cleaned up and get some rest, we'd talk later. I did what he said almost mechanically before falling into my rack exhausted mentally, not physically. I woke like clockwork the next morning, showered, dressed and hungry as hell. I walked into the small mess area and sat down alone. There were only three other guys in the place at this time. I had just finished praying when Jobe walked in getting his tray and sitting across from me. He asked how I was feeling. I looked at him, "it's strange not having my brother here, I guess it's because we're twins, we've always been close to each other, I feel like a part of me is missing." Jobe smiled, "I can't bring Wyatt back to this place but I can promise you that we will be so busy over the next twelve months neither of us will have time to do anything but eat and sleep." "Sounds good to me," I nodded at Jobe. The next few months were filled with non stop projects. Wyatt wrote almost every day and I wrote every chance I had. Mother wrote too, her letters were always brief, but she stressed that I was missed and she always told me what was happening with Wyatt. He was undergoing physical therapy and would be back to his old self in time. Wyatt's letters made me feel sad. I needed to talk to him on the phone. I managed to get a ride to the Green Zone. It wasn't hard to find the telephone exchange. I had almost fifty dollars in change to make calls plus I had a phone card that Wyatt had sent me. I knew it was almost 3am back home. The phone rang five times before Wyatt picked up the receiver, his voice sounded tired and then the excitement I was use to in his voice returned. "I miss the hell out of you." I spoke those words to Wyatt. He was silent for a moment, "Ryan are you all right?" "Yes" I replied. "Ryan, I miss you so much I want to feel your arms around me I need you." His voice choked up. "I know Wyatt. I'll be home in seven more months you going to wait for me?" I was beginning to feel sad and I knew Wyatt could hear it in my voice. "I'll wait forever for you. I swear that." I cleared my throat, "How's your leg?" Wyatt hesitated before answering, "It's coming along, I'll be in physical therapy for another six months or so, I should be fine as soon as you get home. I'm being placed in a reserve status, with my leg in this shape the Marines are afraid my leg might give out on me. Nothing to worry about I've got a job with a local engineering firm. My starting salary is more than both of us made as Marines." Now Wyatt's voice was excited. "I want to buy us a house for us something on the water that we'll like?" I nodded my head then spoke up, "that sounds good." I could feel my eyes trying to tear. "Wyatt, listen to me for a minute, I love you so much, nothing means anything in this world without you, I want so badly to hold you in my arms and kiss you, run my fingers through your hair and make love to you." I stopped talking I heard Wyatt break up on the other end of the phone. He was crying telling me how much he loved me and needed me. I talked to him until he calmed down. I started to talk about the pumping station when the phone went dead. I'd run out of time. I walked around the exchange picking up a few things before returning to the pumping station. I lay down as soon as I got back and fell asleep. It was late in the day when I woke up. I showered, dressed and headed for chow, I ate like I hadn't eaten in days, after chow I found a comfortable seat in the rec. room and watched a movie on satellite. I was starting to fall asleep when I saw a soldier walk in, I turned to look, it was a new face to me. I extended my hand without standing, "I'm Ryan." The young ensign shook my hand, "Derrick." Soon we were seated on the same couch talking during the movie. Derrick was a naval engineer. He'd been assigned right out of college NROTC. He seemed excited and for once it made me feel good to have someone my own age to talk too. Over the next several weeks we became the best of friends. We started a Texas Hold'em card tournament every Friday night. It gave us something to look forward to other than just another day in Iraq. During a normal week the engineers worked to keep the pipeline pumping station at pressure. Normally we would get the lines up to pressure and then somewhere along the pipeline there would be an intentional break. Once the damage was tracked down and repaired we would start pressuring the system in order to pump the crude to the nearest port where it was loaded into ships' holds for transport to refining plants. The pumping station was not state of the art. However, it had been built well for its time and did the job we were asking it to do now. Over the past few months several of the pressure nozzles required re engineering to make them work at the pressures and tolerances necessary. I worked closely with Derrick. He was a great engineer. He told me his father had started out working on an oil rig as a boy of 15. By the time he was 20 he owned two rigs. If I tried to find out more about Derrick's family he'd tell me a bit then change the subject. I told him about my father, mother and twin brother. He was interested and asked a million questions about my family. Four months after Derrick arrived, insurgents attacked the base. I'd been shot at several times since my arrival and was quick to get my weapon in the ready and return fire. Derrick however, cowered behind me with his back to one of the pipes. He looked up at me and I saw the fear in his face. "Derrick, it will be all right, stay here." I move forward until I could see the front gates, Marines were returning fire and once more several insurgents lay dead at the gate. I opened up firing in short bursts, I watched as my bullets tore through a boy he grabbed his chest momentarily and fell to the ground, I was too hyped to think about shooting another human being, I continued to fire until someone yelled, "hold your fire." I slung my weapon over my shoulder and returned to Derrick. He was shaking, his face was red, he wouldn't look me in the eye. I helped him stand and led him back to the barracks without anyone seeing him. Once we were inside his room, I pushed a chair in front of the door, I had him lay down. He wouldn't let go of my hand. I sat on the bed next to him. He pulled me next to him and cried, his head on my chest, my fingers held his shoulders and I whispered to him that he would be all right, everyone got scared now and then. I could feel his tears soaking into my uniform shirt. I found myself letting my fingers move through his hair gently as I tried to calm him, I also felt my erection stirring. I turned on my side toward Derrick so he wouldn't be able to see my pants tenting in the front. I held him until he fell asleep. I got up without waking him and left the room. I returned to my room and lay down closing my eyes. My fingers moved over my manhood and soon my hand moved furiously as my mind thought of Wyatt, his mouth warm over my erection his silky hair, making me hornier, my hands holding his head in place causing him to moan and want more of me. Next I saw Derrick, he lay under me, his face glistened with droplets of cum on his cheek and lips. His hand encircled my erection guiding me between his legs, he lifted his legs and I eagerly placed them on my shoulder, he whimpered as I entered him deeper, my body moved involuntarily feeding more of my manhood until our skin touched. His head moved slowly from side to side and his hard cock spilled copious amounts of cum. I moved in him hard, he cried out and once again his manhood spilled onto his chest, his entire body shook in ecstasy. As his muscles tightened I became aroused, I drove hard and deep pulling his lips to mine, kissing him and tasting him as my tongue touched his cheek. He cried out once again and I filled with my seed. I lay back exhausted. It was then I saw that Wyatt had been watching us, he yelled at me and ran from the room, I chased after him searching for hours screaming his name until I was hoarse, finally I woke up more tired than I had been when I went to sleep. In the morning I sat down at my desk and wrote Wyatt a long letter asking him if he had ever thought about having sex with another person, I told him I jerked off all the time thinking of him and that I knew I loved him more than anything in my life but I had to know if he had these thoughts. I wrote several pages spilling out everything in my heart. I wanted him to know that I loved him beyond belief. I had the letter ready for the post office by 7am. I handed it to the mail clerk who stamped it and threw it in a bag to be picked up by a Navy plane headed back to the States. I received mail every day, but the letter I needed was Wyatt's reply to my letter. I waited impatiently but I waited. I received a box from Wyatt but no letter, I carried the box back to my room and opened it, lying on top of everything in the box was an envelope. I ripped the envelope open and started to read, I put the letter down, jumped up and locked my door, then I lay back down and read the letter. Hi Ryan: I miss you so much. It's been really hard for me missing you. I get frustrated so easily. Sometimes at night I lay there and the only thing I can think about is you dying in Iraq and me never having the chance to hold you in my arms again, losing you would kill me I mean it, you and I have been a part of each other all our lives. Losing you would make life nothing for me but pain, a pain I could not and would not suffer. You asked me if I ever thought about having sex with another person the answer is no. I want to explain the reason. If I didn't have you in my life I probably would have gotten married and had kids. I wouldn't have been happy because all my life I would be wondering what if. But, I don't have to wonder that because I have you in my life. Having sex with you is what I call making love, everything about you is desirable and excites me completely. The thought of touching another man doesn't mean anything to me. It doesn't make me feel anything either. The minute you run your fingers through my hair I feel alive and horny. I could jump your bones in a heart beat. I love it when you take me in your mouth, when I look down at you it makes me feel very excited and it makes me feel very proud to have someone as handsome and loving making love to me. I want you to know that I'd forgive you if you had sex with someone else, it would hurt me, but I'd rather forgive you then lose you. I hope that will never happen and that I'll always be enough to make you happy. Ryan, I love you with all my heart, I always have and always will. I belong to you. Wyatt. The letter fell from my hand, I placed my arm across my eyes and cried like a baby. I knew that Wyatt needed me I was scared for him to be alone. It broke my heart. I lay there until I fell asleep waking to someone knocking on my door for chow, I yelled just a minute, I looked in the mirror my eyes were red but other than that I was presentable. I opened the door to Derrick, he looked at me, "your eyes look like hell." I grinned, "allergies." I arranged with Gunny Matthews to teach Derrick how to effectively handle an M16, I knew the Navy had taught him how to use a 45 caliber. Derrick was resistant at first but after meeting Gunny Matthews he was more willing to give it a try. Over the next few weeks every chance Gunny had he spent teaching Derrick to use an M16 as well as tactics to protect himself when the enemy attacked next time. I began to notice that Derrick seemed more at ease, more secure in himself. I was happy for him. He was a nice guy. Friday night I was getting the cards ready for poker I hadn't seen Derrick, I figured he had fallen asleep. I went looking for him, I turned the handle on his door and it opened, what I saw amazed me, Derrick and Gunny Matthews were in a 69 position on Derrick's rack. Gunny saw me first and yelled out "Oh fuck." "Gunny it's cool, lock the fucking door next time." I walked out pulling the door closed behind me. Less then 10 minutes later Derrick was in the rec. room, he looked at me and asked if we could talk. I walked over to a corner with him. He apologized. I smiled at him putting my hand on his shoulder, "nothing to worry about I understand all right. You two just need to make sure you lock that door, if it had been someone else you could have been in deep shit." Derrick smiled, "Ryan, you're the best thank you, will you talk to Gunny, he's a nervous wreck." I nodded my head, "where is he?" Derrick nodded toward his room. I knocked before entering Derrick's room. Gunny stood up when I walked in I told him to sit his ass down. He is definitely a handsome guy, I told him so then I explained to him that he and Derrick meant a lot to me and doing stupid things like having sex with an unlocked door was nothing but reckless. Gunny promised to not let anything like that happen again. I asked him if he liked Derrick he nodded his head yes, I smiled and said good cause I like both of you. He stood up as I did and looked at me, I smiled at him, "take care of each other." I walked out.
