There's some violence in this part of the story, and overall it's not a pretty situation. Life can be like that, and I'm trying to reflect that here. Sorry if it upsets anyone, but it's needed for the progression of the storyline. Read on if you wish, and thanks for sticking with me this far. Drew and Jason, Part 4 The Sandpiper was crowded tonight. Drew sat at his table and watched the men and the few women in the joint flow past and around him. He simply sipped his beer and waited until he saw something that looked like it might hold some promise. Eventually, patience yielded fruit. There was a sailor with his friends, a group of four guys in total, and they laughed and drank the night away. The one Drew was watching had blonde hair, and a slim build. He cast a glance Drew's way every now and again when he was sure his buddies weren't watching him. Drew knew this was an easy mark. He got ready to make his move and found himself steeling his resolve to simply go through with it, and get it done. Drew got up and went to the bathroom, glancing at his mark just before getting up. The man noticed, and he saw the sailor set his drink down. Drew turned and strode through the bathroom door and stood at a urinal. There were no partitions between the three urinals, and he chose the center one. Obligingly, the mark came in, his eyes flicking to Drew as he did. He stepped up beside him and pulled out his meat to piss. Drew gritted his teeth and forced himself to lean back a bit so the man could get a good look at his dick. When he was soft, Drew's cock was still almost 6 inches long. The sailor turned slightly so he could see it out of the corner of his eye and he watched as Drew pissed. Drew took his time shaking his dick free of liquid and finally he stuffed it back into hiding in his boxer-briefs. He then walked to the sink and heard the sailor flush and stand behind him, waiting on the sink to wash his hands. Drew could feel the man's eyes on him, appraising his body. Drew felt sick. He splashed water on his face and walked out, without a glance at the man. He strode to his table and sat, then reached for his beer that was still sitting there. The sailor exited the bathroom and looked over at him, but Drew didn't look at the man at all. He made his way back to his friends and continued drinking with them. "I can't." Drew sat at his table. His hand was wrapped around the heavy beer glass and he gripped it ... hard. "I just can't do this." Drew said softly to himself. He got up, left his beer on the table, and walked out. His chosen sailor watched him go with a perplexed look on his face. Drew stood outside and closed his eyes. `This means I can't do my job.' He let the thought sink in, then the implications followed shortly. `I'm resigning. I guess right now.' His initial plan to continue working for a month was discarded and he felt a wild rush of adrenaline. He felt as if he had freed himself from all the lies, the pain he was causing, and the possibility of hurting Jason. He grinned and strode to his car. He hummed and took out his keys, then a reflection off the window caught his eye. Drew ducked with practiced speed. A tire iron smashed his window to tiny glass splinters and he whirled in a powerful kick aimed behind him. Drew connected and a large, muscular man with close cropped hair and tanned skin went sprawling on the ground with a curse of pain. Drew heard another man off to the side and turned to meet him. This one was smaller, but faster. The guy had a set of brass knuckles balled up in his fist and he swung wildly at Drew. He ducked under the blow and jabbed quickly, striking the man under his arm twice and winding him. The first man had regained his feet and rushed back into the attack. "I'll kill you, faggot!" Drew couldn't make the turn in time. He got halfway around before the tire-iron connected with the base of his skull. He'd been turning, and that lessened the blow, but not enough. Drew hit the ground like a sack of potatoes, and his entire world went dark. Jason waited until Drew was thirty minutes late. He called his number, and got no answer. He left a message, and then paced the floor. An uneasy feeling settled in his chest. Drew didn't seem the type to make plans he didn't keep. "Something's not right." He whispered. Jason had little information about Drew, but he did have a handy resource. He called a friend of his who worked for the Washington State Police Department and he drummed his fingers impatiently as he waited on hold. He hoped this favor wasn't out of her league. "Beth? Hey, this is Jason. I need to find out about a guy named Drew who works at Bangor sub base. He's civilian, and works in administration. He's in his mid 20s." He grinned. "Sorry it's so late, but you owe me, and I'm calling in." After a bit of protesting, the woman on the other end of the phone relented and began a database search of government workers of the base. Jason heard her fingers flying over a keyboard, then go quiet. Jason waited a bit longer then his face slowly fell. "He ... he works for who?" Drew woke slowly. His head hurt badly and his side felt bruised up too. He was disoriented, and lay still until he remembered what had happened. He began to flex all of his limbs in turn, testing for broken bones. His limbs were fine, other than a few bruises and scrapes. `Lucky.' He thought. He noticed the sun was shining through a window, and he was lying on a bed. `Hospital.' He could smell the antiseptic used in the room. He could also sense another person in the room, though he couldn't see who it was. "Hello?" He croaked out. "Who's there?" "Maloy, you're awake." Riley came to the bedside and stood over him. He looked relieved. "God damn man. You had me scared." Drew swallowed. "Riley. I ... I need you to do something for me." "Sure, sure. What do you need me to do?" Jason watched from the parking lot as the man who had been sitting with Drew left in a car. Jason heard about what had happened from Beth, since it was the state police that responded to Drew's attack. He hadn't slept all night. He had driven to the hospital early that morning and he'd been sitting in the Jeep for hours now. Jason felt like someone had taken his heart from his chest and frozen it. It was hard for him to breathe, he hurt so badly. He forced himself to keep his composure. He wanted to face Drew with some kind of strength. He had already been up to the room once, but only passed by because of the guy that just left. He knew the man was probably NCIS, and preferred to avoid him. After the man drove away, Jason got out of his Jeep and walked into the hospital. Beth had given him Drew's room number, and proclaimed that she had now paid off that owed favor in spades. Jason agreed. He rode the elevator up, feeling numb inside, and walked out after the doors slid open. He quickly found Drew's room and entered quietly. Drew's battered form lay under a sheet. His head was bandaged around the forehead and the back of his skull. One eye was black and he was really scraped up and bruised, pretty much all over. Jason's heart nearly broke seeing him like that. He had no idea Drew was hurt so badly. The police report didn't do any justice to the painful injuries he saw before him. "Oh god, Drew." Drew opened his eyes with effort. He was drugged to dull the pain in his head. "Jason?" Drew suddenly remembered Riley would be back soon. "Jason, you should leave." He struggled to remain conscious. "It's not ... not safe." "I had to see you." Jason came to his bed-side, his gray eyes were bright with unshed tears. "I had to find out why." Jason had to stop himself from stroking Drew's face, stop himself from comforting him. Drew realized that Jason knew everything. "Jason. I ... you were a surprise. I never expected to feel that way ..." He tried hard to think clearly through the haze of narcotics. "I was recruited to seduce men, then turn ... in, by NCIS." Drew slurred, and was mixing his words, but Jason knew what he meant. Jason's Adam's apple trembled. "I trusted you Drew." "I know. I really am ... sorry." Jason hung his head. "You're a monster." A single tear rolled down his nose and dropped to the floor. "I think I could have loved you." He laughed bitterly. "Hell, I think I already do." Drew tried to speak, but found himself claimed by the drugs coursing through his body. His head gently came to rest against the bed rail and his eyes slid closed. Jason's tears flowed freely now. "Goodbye Drew." With that, he turned to leave forever.
