Jonathan 23 May 2009 Jonathan was not able to go out with James on the next Saturday as it was his aunt Paula's birthday. Paula was an aunt by marriage, the wife of his paternal uncle Stephen. They lived in Baldock. Jonathan went straight there from work. His grandfather was already there. Shortly after Jonathan arrived, his parents and brother and sister also arrived. Jonathan's relationship with his mother was steadily improving. She was obviously still struggling to come to terms with having a gay son, and to understand what it meant to be a homosexual. Usually Jonathan made a point of spending some time alone with his mother. Many of her questions were now about the punters, though she usually used the word `client', at Bills. She was finding it difficult to realise that there were men at the very top of their various professions who were to some degree openly and actively gay. "Some are very open about their sexuality, Mum. Others, especially if they are married, or in a sensitive occupation like the church, are not out. Even many politicians are now open about their sexuality since 1997." "Why since 1997?" asked Lois. "Tony Blair made several openly gay men ministers, one a cabinet minister. There are now these Civil Partnerships." "Pastor Willis says that they are evil things." "But Mum if two men, or two women love each other, and live together, should they not have all the civil rights of a married couple? The closest person in their life is the person they are living with, why should some disapproving parent or sibling be able to decide things if one is taken ill or dies. If anything happened to Dad, you would decide if he should have certain hospital treatment if he could not give consent himself. If he died you would decide whether he should be buried or cremated, and so on. What would you say if Gramp's decision was final, or Uncle Kevin's, as brother?" "I see your point." That was typical of his discussions with his mother. With his father it was different. It was obvious that a different battle was going on within him. He continued to disapprove and disagree on principle with homosexual practice, and if the truth be told with the inclination or desire as well. Michael's battle was with himself, and his knowledge that however much he disapproved and disagreed with his son, he ought to treat him fairly. The six months of no contact had been hard for both of Jonathan's parents. Michael felt guilty and ashamed for losing his temper. It was this concern to be fair that had led him to offer the job at Stevenage to his son. This had brought them together at a business level. They could talk happily together about the family business. Michael was very interested to hear Jonathan's thoughts on various matters, as they gave him a ground floor view of what was going on, and also he was interested to see if Jonathan had inherited any of the Pridham business acumen. Jonathan had said that he did not want to go into the family business, but that was before the events of the previous six months. Jonathan now rarely spoke about going up to University, and seemed to be searching for a way ahead and Michael began to think Jonathan might end up in the family business. Jonathan never mentioned to either of his parents that he had been invited out to New Zealand to visit Kevin. If he did go, he wanted it to be definite in his mind before letting his parents know. Malcolm, of course, knew what was happening between Jonathan and Kevin. But Malcolm, from years of experience, knew the importance of keeping confidences. The only person with whom he did share things of a confidential nature was his friend Simon, and he could be trusted. But on that Saturday Jonathan had a matter that he did want to talk over with his father. Summer was approaching, and soon in many places all over England there would be the sound of willow hitting leather. The cricket season was approaching. Jonathan's job at Pridham's involved Saturday work, and Saturday was the day when Whitgest Cricket Club had many fixtures. In the course of Paula's birthday celebrations, Jonathan took his father on one side. "Dad, I've got a work problem." "What's that?" "Dad, the cricket season is approaching." Michael looked at Jonathan and grinned. "When's Whitgest's first fixture?" "First Saturday in May." Michael put an evil glint into his eyes. "So you want me to pull strings so you can play cricket for Whitgest and try to get more centuries and a higher score than your grandfather, your two uncles and myself?" "That hadn't crossed my mind," replied Jonathan with a look of complete injured innocence on his face. But then spluttering with laughter he blurted out, "But thanks for putting the idea into my mind." "I'll see what I can do." They both laughed. It was one of those precious moments in that father son relationship. Michael had been able to behave like a normal father, and Jonathan had a glimpse of his father's continuing love and care. "It is good to see the two of you laughing together," said Lois, coming up to them. "What was it about?" "Cricket," replied the two men. "I might have guessed," replied Lois as she walked away. Paula's birthday party was a happy occasion. Jonathan was the oldest grandchild by four years, his sister Abigail and cousin Zoe were both nearly fifteen, while the boys Thomas and cousin Mark were eleven. The two girls now considered themselves young ladies. Zoe tried some flirting with Jonathan, much to his amusement, and with his encouragement. Thomas and Mark were delighted when Jonathan got involved in a tickling brawl on the floor. Eventually the adults protested at the noise, and were afraid of something getting broken. Jonathan then got the youngsters playing Monopoly. This was more definitely approved of by the adults, as the game went on in one room while the adults talked in another. It was the first time Stephen and Paula had seen Jonathan since his time at Bill's place. They knew what had happened, because Malcolm had told them, with Jonathan's permission. Toward the end of the evening Paula got Jonathan on his own. "Good to have you back, and see you again. You've matured a lot over the last six months, Jon. What happened to you has its silver lining." "Thanks for that, I didn't think scrabbling around with the others on the floor was particularly mature behaviour." Paula laughed. "They enjoyed it. Boys always like a bit of a rough house with some one they look up to." "Look up to?" "Yes, you are the older brother, the older cousin. Mark, I know, thinks you're wonderful. He'll think it even more after this evening." "Thanks Paula, Gramps has told me how much you stuck up for Kev a couple of years ago." "Yes, and I stick up for you too. There's nothing wrong in being gay in my eyes. I only hope that you find happiness and fulfilment. That would be true whether you were straight or gay." Jonathan gave Paula a hug and a kiss. "Thanks, Paula." *** It was a week later that Jonathan went out with James again. In many ways it was a repeat performance. They met in the foyer of the multi-screen cinema. James had got there first, and had bought a bucket of pop corn. They watched another film. This time there was not the tentative touching that had gone on a fortnight before. Their legs were touching straight away. Their coats and the pop corn were placed to cover their hands, which were then able to rest on each other's thighs. After the film they again went to the fish and chip shop, and ordered the same `haddock and chips twice'. They ate them in the car park. This time Jonathan had come prepared. The paper from the fish and chips was placed in a plastic bag which was firmly tied by the handles. "That should reduce the smell of fish and chips in the car," he said. He had also brought along some wet-wipes. "We can wipe our hands. When I had a shower after last time I thought my cock smelt of fish and chips!" They both laughed. They did not go to exactly the same place, as Jonathan had looked on the ordnance survey map of the area where they had stopped before, and had noted that a couple of hundred yards further on was a field access track leading off the lane. He reckoned at that time of night there would be no one using the track. So he backed down it for about twenty yards. This meant that with the car lights out it was highly unlikely even the occasional passing car would know they were there. As soon as the car engine was off they were reaching for each other. There was a long open mouthed kiss, while hands fumbled to pull down zips and gain entry to what lay within. "You've gone commando this week!" said James. "I thought I'd make life easier for you." Jonathan undid his belt and the button on his jeans and wriggled so they went down round his knees. "That's better. It's not as cold as it was two weeks ago." James then got his jeans down. This gave them both much fuller access. This second week it was James who gave Jonathan the first climaxing suck. It was a good half hour later when they had both climaxed, and pulled up their jeans. There was still a little warmth in the car, and they were warm from their exertions. "Cars are not the most comfortable places for these activities," said Jonathan. "When it is warmer we'll be able to do things outside, but it's too cold and damp tonight." "When did you start doing this sort of thing?" "When I was fourteen." James went on to tell Jonathan how a man, Bruce Williams, who lived a few doors down the road, had slipped on a patch of ice when going to work early one morning and badly fractured his ankle. This had meant that when Spring came he had been unable to cut the lawn in his garden. James' Dad had volunteered him to cut Bruce's grass. This did not take him very long, a mere twenty minutes. Bruce had then invited him into the house for a drink. They had stood around in the kitchen talking for a while. Then James had said he needed a pee. Bruce showed him the downstairs loo, and to Jonathan's amazement had followed him. They had stood side by side peeing together. They made a good golden froth in the bowl, but the eyes of each of them had been on the other's cock. For James it was first adult cock he'd seen and it looked big. For Bruce it was a very attractive teenager's dick. When they had finished peeing Bruce's hand came over and took hold of James. James had discovered the delights of wanking some three or four months earlier, but had never done anything with another person. His cock immediately began to harden and he liked what was happening. Bruce had commented on the niceness of James' dick, and told him to put a hand to his cock. Bruce's cock had immediately hardened. `Let's go up to a bedroom where we can do things properly. The missus won't be home for another two or three hours.' They had gone upstairs, and Bruce had undressed James, and then himself. "That was the first time I'd had my cock sucked." "Was that a once off or were there further instalments?" asked Jonathan. "I was back round at Bruce's three days later. From then on it was two or three times a week. I still see him occasionally. One day, a few weeks later, there was another guy with Bruce. I recognised him from his pics in the local rag. He was a successful goal scorer with one of the local football teams, Wayne Jones was his name. After Bruce had introduced us, he said, `Wayne likes the same things as us.' You can guess what happened." "A threesome?" "Exactly. I was well set up for the next three years, with one or the other or both. Then Wayne moved up north about six months ago." "Wow. Good for you. And you still see Bruce?" "Yes, not quite so often now." "How old is he?" "In his mid thirties, quite old really." Jonathan wondered what James would think about all the old men he had been with, men like old Roger, who was old enough to be their great grandfather. "That's why I was so pleased to discover that you, someone my own age, also liked the same things," added James, giving Jonathan's thigh a squeeze. Jonathan was thinking he would have to tell his story, but something was making him reticent. Then James came to the rescue. "I'm beginning to feel a little cold. Let's go back to my place for a coffee as before." Jonathan started up the car and began to drive down the few yards of the track on to the lane. "So Jon, how did you start?" "I've not been at it as long as you. It was only February last year that I had my first taste of doing it with a guy. Oh, yes, I'd been tossing myself off for a while, but always by myself." Jonathan told the story as he drove. He told James about the long friendship with Robert Fox, and his sexual interest in him. He described the walk on Dunstable Downs, and Bob's account of his weekend with his grandparents and what had happened with his uncle. He gave a graphic account of their first time together at Bob's house. He described their discovery of a hidden place close to the railway line, and of the times back at Bob's after school. James asked a few questions, as they drove back. Jonathan got no further than his birthday party before they were back at James' home. He felt he had been saved by the bell, at least for the time being. When Jonathan got back to Whitgest later that evening he told Malcolm all that had happened. "You'll have to tell him sooner or later, Jon. I don't know how to advise you on that, whether sooner or later." "I know, Gramps. I will certainly have to tell him if it looks as though we are going to get more involved together." *** When Jonathan arrived back from Stevenage on Monday Malcolm was bursting with some news. "I think I have what may be some good news for you. Simon came round this morning." Jonathan raised his eyebrows in an enquiring way. "And yes we did! Patricia is going away for a weekend to stay with her sister. She does this two or three times a year. She will be away for three nights. We have talked it over. I will go and sleep round at his place." "With him, you mean?" "All right, with him. That will leave the coast clear for you here. James can either come over for a night or so, or if he can't get away from home, he could come over for some time with you on the Sunday." "Gramps, that sounds great. Thanks. And thank Simon too." Jonathan put his arms round Malcolm and gave him a long hug and a kiss. "You're the best Gramps in the world." "And you're not so bad as a grandson!" *** The following Saturday evening followed exactly the same pattern as before. While they were eating their fish and chips in the car park, Jonathan started telling James about Malcolm's offer. "I think I have some good news for us. As you know I am living with my Grandfather. He is going away to stay with a friend next weekend. This will mean I will be alone at his house. I think I might be in need of some company, James." "The house to ourselves?" "Yes, completely to ourselves. You can either stay for a night, or a couple of nights, or just come over for an hour or two." "Wow. I've never slept with a guy." "Well this can be your first time. We will have plenty of time, a bed to have fun on. What do you think?" "I think it's great." When they had finished the fish and chips Jonathan drove off to the place where they had parked the week before. He had no sooner reversed up the track and turned the engine off and they were in each others arms. "A bed will be a lot more comfortable than this," said James. "Certainly! But this week we have to put up with this." The love-making followed the usual pattern, but both thinking this time next week they would be able to do things properly. It was when they had finished and were sitting back wiping their cocks on their handkerchiefs that James turned to Jonathan. "Jon, why do you live with your grandfather, and not with your own family?" Jonathan took a deep breath, this was now his opportunity. "It's a long story James. I'm glad of this opportunity to tell you, because it may change the way things are between us." "In what way?" "I told you last week of my friendship with Bob Fox. It started in the February and lasted through until the August. I didn't tell you about his uncle's DVDs." "Gay porn?" "Yes, real hard core gay porn. He borrowed them from his uncle." "The gay one?" "Yes. One day he was alone at home and watching one of these DVDs and his Mum or Dad returned home early and unexpectedly. He managed to turn off the DVD, but not to remove the disc. Sometime later, I am not exactly clear what happened, his Dad turned on the DVD and found this gay disc." "What did his Dad do? Get excited and have a good wank?" laughed James. "He got excited, but not in that way. James' folks are like my folks, strict fundamentalist types. At our church if the preacher did not condemn homosexuality in the sermon or prayers two weeks out of three he was slipping! James' Dad found out from Bob that I also had seen the DVD, so he came round and told my folks." "Bob grassed on you?" "In a way I suppose he did, but if the inquisition that he went through was anything like what happened to me when I got home that night, I am not surprised." "Third degree?" "You can say that again. I got home to be ordered into the dining room for a confrontation with my parents. I admitted that I'd seen the DVD. And I told them I was gay." "Wow!" "It ended up with a real blazing row with my Dad. He hit the roof when I said that I loved Bob. He said that sexual love between two men, and at our age, was ridiculous. It ended up with my Dad punching me in the eye and sending me sprawling." "So what did you do, punch him back? I would've done!" "No; I went up to my room. There I thought over what had happened. Dad had talked about getting me cured, even sending me to the States, where apparently they do that properly." "So what did you do?" "I did a bunk. I climbed out of my bedroom window and down over the garage roof, and got away." "Fled to your grandfather's?" "No. It might have been better if I had of done. I'd packed a few things, what money I had and so on, and caught a late train up to London." "Then what happened?" "It was late when I arrived at King's Cross Thames Link, and I was feeling hungry, so I thought I would try to buy something to eat at the main line station. So I walked round there. I was looking round to see if there was somewhere selling food that was open at that time of night, and a guy came up and spoke to me. I told him I was looking for something to eat, and somewhere to stay for the night. He said that with my black eye I would probably find somewhere that'd take me in at that hour. Looked too much as though I'd been in a fight, which, of course, I had in a sense. He said he had a spare bed in his apartment. So I accepted and went back with him. He got me something to eat, and though we were both in the one bedroom, we were each in single beds." "Landed on your feet for the night then?" "Yea. Keith was his name. He got me something to eat, and we went off to sleep. In the morning we got talking, and he asked me what had happened to give me the black eye. Then it all came out, I was gay, and so was he." James laughed. "You jammy sod! I supposed you ended up in bed shagging each other left right and centre?" "More or less. Remember he was only my second guy. He was that bit older. I learnt a lot from him over the next few days. He persuaded me not to try to look to go elsewhere, or find a job, while I'd still got the black eye. That went through all the usual colours and slowly faded. Then one day he came back to say that we'd both been invited away for a weekend. He knew a guy with a farm out in the sticks. We were both invited to a sort of party." "What sort of party?" "A party of like-minded men. They all liked sex with other men." "Did you go?" "I had enjoyed my encounters with Keith. He seemed a nice guy. He was going. He was reassuring. So I went." James was now well hooked by Jonathan's story. "How many guys were there?" "I think there were nineteen in all. Some were on the staff, cooking and so on, but they went around naked most of the time." "And you had sex?" "Yes. I went with a guy called Ted, who was a solicitor in the Midlands somewhere. I spent two nights with him. I also went with Bill, the owner of the place. That was something, as he has a colossal cock, long and thick." "Painful?" "Not really. We took a long time over it. He was very considerate. I quite enjoyed it. I also had a session with a younger guy called Andy." "Quite a sexy weekend. Did you go to the farm again?" "Yes, several times. It was arranged that I didn't go back with Keith, but went with Bill. In the car I came over sleepy. It was later I learnt that I'd been drugged." "Really?" "Yes." "I thought that sort of thing only happened in movies!" "When I came to I was in a room in what I later learned was Bill's house. He offered me a job." "What sort of job?" a slight note of surprise and concern was now in James' voice. "Bill ran a club in London. Outwardly it was a respectable club. But there was an annexe. It was a sort of male brothel. Bill wanted me to work for him." "As a sex worker?" "Exactly. I said `No'. He told me the terms. I'd get paid, quite generously with the tips and so on, and no overheads like food, heating and clothing. I said `No'. But he was insistent. I demanded to be allowed to leave, and said I'd go back to my folks. Bill just showed me a pic of me naked with his monster stuck up my arse. He asked what my folk would think of that. I still refused. So he asked a couple of guys who were in the room, to take me away. He was giving me twenty-four hours to think it over. They took me down to a little room, just a mattress on the floor, and a bucket in the corner, light on all the time. The two of them stripped me naked. Just tore off my shirt, the buttons went everywhere. Punched me a couple of times, and used my belt on me." "Wow, how terrible." "When the twenty four hours were up, I said `No' again. I was kept in that cell for twenty one days. I was fed; fed quite well. But I was beaten and punched. I was there stark naked, always under the watchful eye of the CCTV camera. I soon lost all sense of time. Meals seemed to come at irregular intervals; there were four of five breakfast types of meals in a row. I had nothing to read, only the shirt buttons to play with. There was no real communication with the guards. One was more humane than the other. I peed in the bucket under the watchful eye of the camera, and when I needed a dump one of the guards would stand watching, sometimes passing comments on my equipment. Then they sexually abused me. The nicer guy was the first, he allowed me to lube up. When the second guy did it there was no preparation, he just shoved it in. Fortunately there was some lube in there from the first guy, and though this chap was a big guy he had a small willy!" "So what happened in the end?" "I said `Yes'. I agreed to work for Bill. I worked in his club alongside a dozen or so other guys for the best part of six months." "What was it like?" Jonathan paused before answering. "Interesting! There were good moments and bad times. Some of the punters were decent, generous men. Some were considerate; others were thoroughly selfish. They were all ages. A couple of young professional footballers came in from time to time, most were well off business or professional men. They had to be well off to be a member of the Club in the first place. What I found most difficult was the sense of being a prisoner. Bill never got to the stage of complete trust in me, enough to allow me to go out when we were in London. You had to do six months of that before he would think about it. I went down to the farm a number of times, where I had gone on that fateful weekend. There I would promise Bill not to run off, and he allowed me to go off for walks in the countryside. I think I'd have gone crazy if I'd not had that. Bill even allowed me a few extra days down there not working, so I could go off walking." "So this Bill was not a totally bad guy?" "He was a ruthless business man. Out to make money, and he was making it hand over fist. But as long as you went along with him, he was considerate and generous. His Boys were well off in every sense when compared with, say, a rent boy working the streets. Steady income, well fed, weekly health checks by a doctor. I think he quite liked me. He was tempted to keep me just for himself. He always had two just for himself. They did odd jobs for him, and serviced him sexually when required. He told me several times that the punters had told him how much they liked my services." "So how did it end?" "I escaped. One day a door was left open, and I did a runner. I had not made any promises to Bill about when I was in London." "I suppose you lost all the money you had earned?" "No, a few days after I'd escaped I went back and saw Bill and asked for my money." "Weren't you in danger of being kept there?" "Not really. Gramps knew where I was, and what I was doing. Bill didn't want a fuss. He was frightened I would sue him for unlawful imprisonment or whatever." "Why didn't you?" " Because the whole procedure would have taken ages, and I may well have lost. He had top-flight legal experts, a couple of judges, as well as some top-ranking policemen among his clients. I would have been taking on a part of the establishment. I might well have lost." Jonathan stretched and sighed. "So that's me! That's my story." They sat in the car in silence for a while. "Let's be going," said James. Jonathan started the car and began to drive out into the lane. "Thanks, Jon, for telling me all that. You have certainly been through a lot. What were your fellow workers like?" "The Boys? We always called ourselves the Boys. A dozen or so young men living close together were bound to have some problems, but by and large we got on well together. We were doing a job, earning good money; and when one of us was having a bad time the others would rally round. If you had a bad punter, and there were some who were thoroughly unpleasant, usually arrogant stuck-up pricks." Jonathan laughed at his use of language. "Then one or two others would tell of their experiences with a bad punter. If a punter was always bad we'd complain to Bill, and he would deal with it, either by having a firm word with the punter concerned or banning him from that part of the Club for a time. The Boys were the geese that were laying Bill's golden eggs. He looked after us well." When they arrived at James' home, they went in. There was the usual talk over a mug of coffee, before Jonathan departed for Whitgest. *** Jonathan began to look forward to the coming weekend. He and James would be able to spend some quality time together. They would be able to get to know each other better. He wondered if it would be like the weekend he had spent with his school friend, Robert Fox, almost exactly a year before. He talked about his hopes and fears to Malcolm. "Do you think James is the special man for you?" "I am not sure, Gramps. He's a nice guy, and we seem to get on well." "The weekend will enable you to find out more about each other. How far will you go?" "What, sexually you mean?" "Yes. You said a short while ago that you hoped that the next person you went all the way with would be the special person you could share your life with. Is James that guy?" Jonathan thought. "There's more to sharing life, Jon, than what you get up to in bed or where ever you have fun and games. If you don't get on in the kitchen you won't get on in bed." "I see what you're getting at. I don't know him all that well." "Take care. I don't want you hurt, Jon." "Thanks, Gramps." Jonathan gave his grandfather a hug. "You're the best, Gramps. Couldn't wish for a better grandfather, not in a hundred years." *** Jeffrey --jeffyrks@hotmail.com
