Chapter Two Sacramento is different from Los Angeles; not just geographically, but culturally, economically, socially, politically, and climatically. Inland from the influence of the Pacific, Sacramento is hotter and drier, has an agricultural economic base rather than the industrial/entertainment/communications base of LA, and is finely tuned to the rhythms of state politics at the capital. It is also far more like the rest of California, and far more unlike Los Angeles, so for Stuart and Raj, a gay couple, there were far more disapproving glances from customer service personnel and waiters and waitresses than they had experienced before. Even the real estate agent they had engaged had a certain attitude; after trudging through a half-dozen condos and townhouses, Stuart told Raj in the car on the way back to their hotel how uncomfortable he was. "Except for the weather, I had the feeling we were back in Idaho Falls." "Do you want me to handle this?" Raj inquired. "No, I am a big boy, we can do this together. Besides, you need to have your energy for the hoards arriving next week." By the end of their first week in the state capital, they had found a home, had started to move in, and had established a beach-head in the state offices for the Governor's new staff. And, Stuart noted, a significant number of state Assemblymen/women and state Senators had already stopped by in the offices to introduce themselves and ask for appointments to meet the Governor and discuss policies and legislative agendas. On Sunday morning, just hours before the Governor and his family were scheduled to arrive, Stuart told Raj they should stay in the hotel for a few more days and take advantage of the room service. "Is that your way of saying you are too tired to move into our new house?" "Guilty" Stuart replied. "Well I noticed you were not too tired to blow me a few minutes ago" Raj laughed. "That is because, my love, blowing your beautiful cock is one of the great pleasures allowed to me in this world." And indeed it was: Raj was in many ways a typical Hindu male, just over 6 feet tall, just under 175 pounds, the beautiful face and gorgeous eyes and hair of a Bollywood dancer, and a cock that would make men and women both salivate. Nearly 9 inches, thick, hooded, with a slight downward curve: it was still hard even after he had cum in Stuart's mouth in buckets. But he was also blessed with what Stuart called goat balls: low-hanging, heavy, nearly golf-ball sized. "You are a Satyr" Stuart breathed. "Do you want to fuck me?" Raj asked. "Yes and no. I always want to fuck you; but this morning I also want to sleep for another half-hour." "Oh my god; you have broken my heart." Raj playfully slapped Stuart's ass. "Go back to sleep; I am going to order breakfast." Stuart's plan for a short nap was destroyed by the ringing of Raj's cell phone: it was the Governor. The message was they had left Los Angeles early and so were just landing at Sacramento, and the Governor wanted a staff meeting at 1 PM. "Shit, we have two hours to get everyone ready" Raj laughed. "Even if you did want to fuck me it will have to wait." By 9 PM, with the Governor and his family safely tucked away into the state mansion, the staff instructed on its first-day marching orders, and a bottle of Sonoma Chardonnay chilling in an ice bucket, Stuart and Raj lay on the bed. "This next four years is going to be a bitch" Stuart predicted. "We always have Puerto Vallarta" Raj laughed. "And LA, and our friends and family there" Stuart replied. Indeed, they had left behind a long list of family and friends in southern California: Stuart's "Uncle" Mario Garza, the widowed husband of Stuart's Uncle Mason; Carlos, the Venezuelan immigrant who had been taken into Mason and Mario's home; their friends Ross and his husband Joaquin, the art gallery owners; and Raj's sister Aneth and her family. Stuart was wistful; he suddenly missed Los Angeles and the many ways it had changed his life after leaving his family home in Idaho Falls and going to southern California to law school as a young man. He wondered if he was up to the challenge of four years in Sacramento, or even four years as the chief legal counsel to the new Governor.
