A Cowboy's Song - Sixth Verse Out here on the range where the sky never ends, If you got any problems, you can count on yer friends, Yer saddlemate partners, the buddies you ride with, And eat with, and joke with, and bed down beside with. Whatever you need when yer drivin a herd, Don't matter if it's serious or jist plain absurd, You can jist ask a cowboy, whatever it is, And he'll kindly oblige you, as certain as piss. My buddy and me, as I already told You, had once contracted the fever for gold. So out to the hills east of `Frisco we came And we found us a mine and staked us a claim. (The mine'd been abandoned for many a year.) We rode into town and bought us some gear, The stuff what we needed to set up a camp: Pickaxes and shovels, a kerosene lamp, A cookstove and vittles, a gun and a tent. The money we'd saved was all pretty near spent. But we didn't worry, for right down the road We counted of findin that old mother lode. So we took us our time afore tryin our luck And treated ourselves to a good week-long fuck. "Well, buddy," I says, "I guess it is time To go get that gold out of that there old mine." "Yep," says my buddy, "I reckon you're right." So the very next morning, all bushy and bright, I rises, but he is all tuckered out, So I makes me some bacon and sets off without Him to see what I finds in that there mine hole, And it looked fuckin promisin, like we'd been told. My eyes was a playin tricks, I was thinkin, For the mine entrance seemed to be teasin and winkin. It sure seem'd to cast a captivatin spell A-drawin me toward it, as certain as hell. I got to the openin and, surprisingly, I found it too tight for a big dude like me. Fact when I sized up the scope of that door, I wondered if anyone had gone in it afore! How could any man as long and as wide As I was have gotten his big self inside? Maybe, if he was a runt, I suppose. I took off my gear and stripped outta my clothes, But as hard as I pushed, I couldn't break through, I was gettin excited, and sweated up, too. Then I got from my breakfast, some grease, bacon fat, And proceeded to cover myself up with that. And I tried once again, and lo and behold, I was now on my way to retrievin the gold. As I pushed through the entrance, it tugged at my skin And pulled it on back, but I got myself in. I aint never been anyplace like that afore. That mine, as soon as I squeezed through the door, It was long, it was deep, it was dark, it was wet It was so fuckin hot I was startin to sweat. The walls they was tight and cozy and snug And they felt on my skin like a warm velvet rug. I inched myself forward, then pulled a bit back, Then took me a breath and renewed my attack. I got myself deeper with every new thrust For now I was driven by my gold fever lust. I was experiencin such radical pleasure That I knew deeper down there jist had to be treasure. Jist when I wondered how far I would go My head hits this wall and, what do you know, I do sees me the gold, all sparkly and bright, Like millions of stars on a dark Texas night, And I hears me some music, like the angels above, And my body is throbbin like I knows I'm in love And bein encased in such confinin quarters I am totally drenched in my own nat'ral waters. With a feelin of bliss I aint felt afore, never. I wanted to stay in that hole stuck forever! But I jist had to share what I had discovered With my buddy, my friend, my cowboy man lover. Although gettin inside was a terrible squeeze, I slid out of the hole with remarkable ease. I went to the tent, gave my buddy a poke. He turned his self over, and then - - - I awoke. He says to me, "Partner! That was the best Fuckin you gave me since we comes out west." By the end of the month, we'd packed up our stuff And was ridin back east. We'd had us enuff Of prospectin for gold. We saw we was wrong. Out on the range is where cowboys belong. But in that minin camp, if God's truth be told, As certain as piss, I found me my gold. Yep, out here on the range where the sky never ends, If you got any problems, you can count on yer friends, Yer saddlemate partners, the buddies you ride with, And eat with, and joke with, and bed down beside with. Whatever you need when yer drivin a herd, Don't matter if it's serious or jist plain absurd, You can jist ask a cowboy, whatever it is, And he'll kindly oblige you, as certain as piss.
