If sex between male teenagers is offensive to you or if you are underage then you should move on to something else. DAVID & TRISTAN- BOYS IN SCHOOL is a work of pure fiction -- the characters and the events do not represent any person or situation. Copyright 1999 by D.Z., all rights reserved. Please do not post in any other forum, newsgroup, or publication. Also, new to this series is the introduction of Jason and Chris, the main characters in the series "After the Dance" by Eric J. Case. "After the Dance" is an outstanding story and you can find it under Gay Male - High School on Nifty. Eric is a fantastic writer and he has been a great help to me and a source of inspiration as I have written this series! Love ya lots and lots Buddy! And a special note to the real life Jason from Boston that is an avid fan of this story--Jason, I hope you like the character who bears your name in this story! Your suggestions are appreciated! So many people have written superb emails to me regarding this series. I had no idea that my story would reverberate so deeply in some of you and it is immensely gratifying to hear how my story has meaning to you. I have wanted for some time to share a few of these responses so I thought I would try something different here. At the beginning of each chapter I plan to insert a response or two from readers regarding the previous chapter that I would like to share and perhaps add a few comments of my own before proceeding with the new chapter. So without further explanation here is an email from a guy that has a strong reaction to Chapter 2-- "First YOU DOG! So it takes a Texas twister for Tristan to tell his dad he's gay? :-) And I am not surprised considering Randy's thick head. You know he comes off as a genuine jackass. What I mean is he is bewildered by Tristan's behavior - as anyone would be - and yet he does NOTHING to find out what the matter is! He isn't being a very good parent at this point. Here is a kid who is behaving WAY out of his norm - red flags flying everywhere - and so far so that Randy thinks he may be on drugs. Actually, that is a very good assumption considering the behavior. And what does Randy do? He yells at his son and that will make it all better? He doesn't sit down and talk with him, he doesn't listen! AND his behavior clearly indicates he believes his new job opportunity is more important than his son. We know this because Randy raised the issue of drugs in his own mind and did NOTHING but tell Tristan in so many words that his - Tristan's - feelings which Tristan was so clearly showing don't matter all that much." That was written by Bob from Colorado. A huge thanks goes to you, Bob, for all of the feedback you've given me even if you are chewing me out here for Randy's behavior! LOL I still love you too, Bob! :) I wanted to share this reaction with all of you because it reminded me how important it is for any two people in a relationship to REALLY LISTEN to each other and not be blinded by their individual desires. Randy really has been dense as far as Tristan's needs are concerned and we will see if that changes in Chapter 3. To be fair, I have to say that Tristan hasn't been much help in this situation since Tristan hasn't felt he could be forthcoming about why the move to Texas is so completely wrong for him. Open communication is a necessity in any relationship and neither of them has been open in their communication so far. If you would like to contribute something thoughtful regarding my story, you can email me, ndman72@yahoo.com. I'll assume that I have your permission to possibly include your comments in future prefaces unless you ask me to keep your remarks to myself. Before we see what Tristan and Randy might have said to each other, we need to go back a few hours in time and catch up with what David has been doing-- DAVID & TRISTAN-BOYS IN SCHOOL. by D.Z. Chapter 3. After the evening meal David's mom, Staci, noticed how much he had been moping around the house. "You look like you aren't feeling too good David. Are you sick?" David shook his head 'no'. "Uh Uh. Just bored out of my mind. Do you think Tristan will move?" he asked with a little boy tone in his voice. "Well, hon, it's a strong possibility. It's hard when friends like that have to move away, I know. You have other friends that you like. Why don't you call Jason...you seemed to have a lot of fun with him yesterday?" "Yeah, I think I will. Thanks Mom. Would it be OK if he stayed over tonight?" "I guess so. You boys have to be quiet after 11:00 so your dad and I can get our rest since we have to work." "Great! You're the best, Mom!" David went upstairs to use the phone in the hallway, it was more private than standing in the kitchen talking in front of his parents. He dialed Jason's phone number from memory...but then David kept all his friend's phone numbers in his head. Remembering numbers was something that had always been easy for David. "Hi, is Jason home? Oh good, can I talk to him?" David slouched against the wall while he waited for Jason to come to the phone. "Hey Jason! What's happening? Yeah, Tristan is in Lubbock...dude, its killing me. Could ya come on over and keep me company cuz I like really could use some. And Jason, could ya spend the night? You can! Awesome dude! Yeah, and one more thing, bring some of your video games, OK? Great! See ya in a little bit." David hung up the phone and picked up his room some as he waited for Jason to get there. As he moved around in his room, he caught his reflection in the mirror and realized he still hadn't showered and really needed one. Snagging a pair of athletic shorts out of his dresser he headed for the shower. Even that was tough on his emotions...it was the first time in over two weeks David showered by himself. And he missed Tristan's horseplay and washing David's hair for him and Tristan pushing that big cock of his up against him as they cleaned themselves and each other. Talk about depressing! David was almost ready to cry by the end of that lonely shower just thinking about all the things he missed about Tristan. After drying himself off, missing Tristan's help again, David slipped on his gym shorts. He combed his wet hair and went back to his room to get dressed. "Hiya David!" There was Jason, lounging on David's bed. "Oh, hi Jason! Cool, you're here already! I thought I better take a shower before you got here. I'll get dressed and then we can do something, ok?" Without waiting for Jason's response David closed the door to his bedroom, dropped his gym shorts and walked unconcernedly over to his dresser. Jason couldn't help it. He laughed in amazement. "What's so funny there, dude?" David asked as he looked back over his shoulder at Jason. "Dude! I can't believe you! I mean, what happened to Mr. Modest? And look at your ass! It's tan....where it's not peeling!" Jason was sitting up on David's bed now and was giggling. "I mean, what kind of vacation did you guys have anyway? Were you at some nudist camp or something?" And Jason started giggling all over again. David twisted around to look at his behind. "You're kidding, aren't you?" Then David saw the flakes of skin beginning to peel off of his backside where he had sunburned it skinny dipping with Tristan. "Great. Just what I needed--my ass to peel! Good thing we aren't in school P.E. yet or I would never hear the end of it. And another good thing is that it was my backside I sunburned instead of the front side! Tristan and I spent a lot of afternoons skinny dipping and fishing down at the river in the buff. Ummmmm, but my front side didn't do so good either. Tristan shot me in the nuts with a BB gun too." Jason convulsed with laughter and gasped out, "Oh my God! What kinda vacation did you guys have anyway? Tristan shot you in the nuts with a BB gun? How come? Was he mad at you or something? Normally when he gets pissed at you, you guys fight, but to shoot you in the nuts? " David made a wry smile at Jason's reaction before he explained, "We were playing war in the trees by the river with BB guns and he didn't mean to shoot me there. I was hiding behind a bush and he was shooting at me not knowing exactly where I was. His first one hit me on the leg and the second shot nailed me right on my left nut." "Holy shit! I bet that hurt! Do you still have your bits and pieces intact?" Jason was all concerned...what if there was some serious damage to David's male equipment? "Yeah, it hurt like hell. It put me on the ground for like 10 minutes and then I couldn't walk right for a day or so afterwards cuz it hurt to even touch it and it turned all black and blue on that whole side. You can still kinda see the last of the yellow from being black and blue." "You can? Can I see? That is if you don't mind...you don't seem to be afraid to let me see your goodies anymore...I mean you've changed David," Jason said all serious. "Just because I'm naked in my own room with you, a friend who's seen me naked before... you think I've changed?" "It's more than that David. I mean you woulda never stood there like that before with everything hanging out all over the place and not cared about it before." "Well, I guess I did get used to not having clothes on all the time...and like it's not like I have to worry whether you'll get down on me for being 'gay' or anything like that since you have a boyfriend of your own, you know," David said rather defensively. "Yeah, you've got that right...it sure is nice not to have to worry about that with each other, isn't it? So where did Tristan shoot you?" David moved over to where Jason was sitting on the bed and used his hand to pull his genitals to one side so Jason could see the fading shades of green and yellow on the left side. "Dayam, I can see how it's discolored there. You have a kind of a scar there too, David, did you know that?" "NO! Really?" "Yeah, see it right there?" Jason pointed with his index finger to a spot low down on David's left nut, a nice-sized testicle exposed with its hairless ball sack stretched over it. "Oh yeah. There is a kind of a bump there, isn't there? Wait till I tell Tristan about that! He'll have some more making up to do for that!" David kinda smirked at the thought of the making up he knew Tristan would want to do. David touched the bump wondering if it was an injury and scar to his testicle or what. As he rubbed his fingers over it he couldn't really feel the bump and it didn't seem to be on the testicle itself. It was like it was just a bump on the skin of his nut bag. ""You gonna fiddle with that little thing all day or are you going to get dressed?" Jason teasingly interrupted David's self-inspection with a wide grin plastered on his face. "What's the problem there Jason? Getting turned on or something?" David teased back. "I will if you keep flaunting yourself in front of me like that! Good thing I've got my own boyfriend or I might have jumped you already," Jason replied in a low voice and a wicked laugh. "Can't have me--I'm already spoken for!" David said with a grin. Then he turned and got dressed then in some casual clothes. "Hey Jason, would you go the mall with me and help me find something to give Tristan as a special going away present?" "Sure, no prob David. But I got two questions for ya-- 'A' what kinda thing you want to get him and number 2, how we getting there, and 'C' what kinda thing do you want to get him?" Jason giggled. David couldn't help it. Despite his down mood he giggled back at Jason's silliness. He was so glad Jason had come over! "Well, I don't exactly what I want to get him except something to remind him of me. That's why I want you to help me think of something. Did ya see the medallion I'm wearing? It's Tristan's cuz it has his initials on the back and he's wearing one exactly like it with my initials. We bought these and gave them to each other before we came home from the farm. As far as getting to the mall, either we ride bike or talk my mom into giving us a ride." "How could I miss the medallion when it was the only thing you were wearing?" laughed Jason. "I thought it was kewl when I first saw it but now its like wicked kewl since it matches one that Tristan has. So whatcha standing around for? Let's go the mall! Maybe I'll find something for Chris while I'm helping you." In short order David's mom was talked into giving them a ride to the mall and would return and pick them up when the mall closed at 9:00. David and Jason would have to find something for Tristan's gift in under two hours so they couldn't goof around much...at least not until the special item was found and purchased! Rarely did David go shopping with a mission like he did that evening! He and Jason hit store after store looking for something unique and meaningful for Tristan. They were in and out of gift stores, music stores, book stores, department stores, and of course, jewelry stores. They were running out of time and David was getting discouraged. He wasn't finding the perfect gift to remind Tristan that he was in David's heart when he moved to Lubbock. Then, they struck the mother lode! It was a boutique set up in the middle of the hallway of jewelry and earrings. A sign filled with Egyptian symbols surrounding bold letters stated "Tell someone special 'I Love You' in hieroglyphics" above a display of necklaces that consisted of Egyptian hieroglyphs surrounded by a rectangular outline. They were 18k gold and reasonably priced. It was the perfect gift for Tristan! David could tell Tristan via this gift that he loved him and Tristan could wear it and the beauty of it was that it could worn and given by either sex and no questions could ever come of it. IT WAS PERFECT! David made the purchase and had it gift wrapped on the spot so he could give it to Tristan at the right time. Jason spent quite a long time looking at the same display, thinking about giving the same thing to Chris. "Would you mind if I gave one of those to Chris later on?" he asked David as they left the boutique. "I guess not, as long as it was after I give Tristan his," David said after a moment's thought. Staci was waiting at the main entrance for them and in short order they were back in David's bedroom with the rest of the night to fill. They played a number of video games then--some of David's and some of Jason's until the phone rang near 10:00. "DAVID, TRISTAN IS ON THE PHONE!" David's dad hollered up the stairs. David picked up the phone and heard Tristan saying, "...do that tomorrow." "Hey Tristan! Dad, you can hang up now..." David was so excited that Tristan called him from Lubbock! Click. "Tris-dude, you still there?" David asked. "Hey babe, how are ya? I've been like missing you so bad today! Dad said I could call ya but we can only talk ten minutes." Tristan was talking a mile a minute. "Same here, dude. I'm really, really glad you called. I swear today has been the longest day of my life! So how was the airplane trip? And where are you at?" "Oh David, it would have been so cool if you coulda been with me. We had first class seats and the stewardess asked me right away when we sat down if I wanted something to drink and I thought she meant alcohol and so I asked her and she got this funny look on her face...it was sooooo funny you woulda died laughing. Then we changed planes in Dallas and got on this dinky little thing that you couldn't stand up in to fly to Lubbock and when we got here it was like sooooooo HOT I burned my fingers opening the car door." Tristan paused to take a breath... "So where ya staying dude?" David reminded Tristan of his earlier question. "We're at the Quality Suites Inn and David, you can't believe it either! Like right now I'm out in the front room....we're staying in a suite! It has like a living room and a kitchen all in one and dad is in the bedroom getting ready for bed. We each have our own huuuuge bed to sleep in...like me and you and my dad could all sleep in one bed they are that big! And this place has a really nice pool that I went swimming in today....I was so bored without ya. So what did you do today?" "Not much 'cept wish you were here. I mowed the lawn and played a little basketball with Jimmy. Tris, he wasted me! I couldn't play worth a crap cuz I was missing you so bad! And then tonight Jason came over and kept me company. I called him and he came over." "Awwwww Davey! So you did really miss me! How are we gonna be able to stay apart? I can't live without you babe..." Tristan barely got that last part out cuz he was choking up. "I know. Same here. Now don't start crying Tris or else I will too and I don't want my family to see me do that. Tris, if Jason hadn't have come over tonight I would have gone crazy, I swear!" "It really helps to be able to talk with ya, even if it's only for 10 minutes. Davey, do you think you could like maybe call me tomorrow night...I don't think my dad will let me call you again tomorrow." "I don't know if my folks will let me...but I'll try. I need the phone number though." "Kay. Ummmmm. Here it is, 817-xxx-xxxx. We're in room 925." "Got it dude! I wrote it on my hand. I'll try to call you, say about this same time tomorrow night?" "Yeah, that would be perfect! Hey babe, my dad just told me my time's up, I gotta go. Davey, I'm missing you so much but Wednesday I'll be back and then we can like really get together, you know what I mean?" "Can't be soon enough for me, Tris-dude. Hey Tris," and David's voice dropped down to a whisper here, " I....uh....just wanted to tell you how much I missed you today....and uh.....you know." "Know what babe? I can't hardly hear ya," Tristan's heart was in his throat. Was David really gonna say it? "You know. Tris, hurry home 'kay?" Brokenly Tristan answered back, "Davey-babe, I love you so much I'd fly there right now if I had wings." David was close to tears again himself and he was barely able to hang on to his composure. He had to get off the phone before he was crying. "I would too. Thanks a whole lot for calling, Tris-dude!" "Anytime, babe. Anytime. Talk to ya tomorrow I hope!" "Yeah. Bye Tris." David fled back into his bedroom before he lost it and closed the door behind him. He leaned back against the door, visibly fighting to keep his composure. Jason could see David's eyes were full of tears and his bottom lip was trembling before David covered his face with his hands, trying to hide his all too visible emotions. Jason got up from where he was playing video games and went over to David. Jason whispered to him, "It's OK dude that you miss him...I understand. It's normal and if you didn't somethin would probably be wrong." That did it. David's self control collapsed and the tears began to flow freely. He stood there just looking at Jason with the tears running down his cheeks. Jason held his arms out and said, "You look like you could use a hug." Silently David nodded 'yes' and Jason wrapped his arms around him. Jason just held David, rubbing his back with both hands as David clung tightly to him. "It's gonna be okay David.. things'll work out. They've always worked out for us before.." In due course David regained a modicum of control and pulled out of the hug. The two boys moved away from the door, Jason keeping one arm draped over David's shoulders. But as they did so, David flipped the lights off and the room was lit only by the light created by the TV tube. Inside, David was ashamed that he had broken down in front of Jason and didn't want to face Jason under the bright lights. After David switched TV set off of the video game back to regular television they sat down together on the floor with their backs against the bed and watched TV silently for the space of some minutes. David hardly knew what to say to Jason about his emotional display and Jason waited for David to provide some kind of clue as to how to react. Finally, David sucked in a big breath and said shakily without looking over at Jason, "I've been such a wuss all day today. I couldn't even play basketball with Jimmy this afternoon and now I cry. You're probably thinking 'There's my friend David, the gay wuss". "You're wrong David. I don't think you are a wuss. You might be as queer as a three dollar bill, but not a wuss. You two guys really do love each other, don't you?" Jason replied softly. David looked up and over at Jason for a moment before dropping his eyes down and answering equally softly, "Yeah, we do. I knew Tristan was really in love with me big time from the very beginning, and I'm finding out today just how much I have fallen in love with the Tris-dude." "Tris-dude?" Jason had to laugh a little at the pet name. "Isn't that the name you called him when you guys were younger? What does he call you then?" "Usually babe, or Davey-babe." "Awwww that's so sweet. You guys are in love for true. Just like me and Chris." "Yeah. I never would have believed even a month ago that us three Musketeers would all end up with boyfriends...and now who knows if Tris and I can stay together." "Dude, you gotta be optimistic!" Jason paused and added, "yeah I know that's a big word for me to use but you gotta stay positive about this Davey-babe," he said winking at David. "Hopefully Tristan won't have to move.. something'll work out dude, it's gotta! This year will be soooo awesome if we can keep the group together! Will you two stay together forever when he comes home to stay?" David sighed deeply before replying, "Forever? I don't know. My family is so anti-gay I don't know what I am going to do...but for now, yes, we'll stay together as long as we can. I just don't know anything for sure right now. He could be moving next week and then what? Dude, I've got a killer of a headache right about now, I need to lay down." "No prob there dude. Here, I'll grab your pillow and let's see...ummm...what if I could use it and maybe you could...uh..." "I'll go steal one of my sister's pillows I guess," David made ready to get up. Jason stopped David from rising by holding him in place. "Umm, if you wanted to, you could put your head on my stomach if ya wanna kinda be together. I know you're still hurting dude and I'm here for ya, David." "Well, like how? You aren't thinking of us being side by side are you?" "Nope, just put your head right on my stomach...." Jason guided David's head with both hands as they shifted positions "there. I'm all comfy now, are you comfy?" "Yeah. This is kinda weird man. But it's OK, you are sure a good bud. Tris won't mind so long as we keep our hands to ourselves, OK?" "What do you think I'm gay or somethin? Oh yeah.. it's all part of my evil plan to seduce you while my other best friend - your boyfriend - is away in Texas and MY boyfriend is at home suspecting nothing," Jason said jokingly. "Sorry David, I'm just playin around ya know?" "Yeah I know." "Hey dude, I'm not gonna go cheating on Chris, no way! He's all I've ever wanted, and all I'll ever need, just like Tristan is to you." There was silence for a few minutes before Jason spoke again softly. "So David, can I ask you some personal kinda questions?" "Like how personal?" David raised his head up and looked into Jason's eyes. "About you and Tristan. I'm wondering it if is the same for the two of you as it is for me and Chris." After a huge sigh David resettled himself and said, "Yeah I suppose so...can I trust you, Jason, not to go spreading my personal stuff all over, you know what I mean?" "Yeah, I know what you mean - you don't have to worry 'bout that, dude. We've been buds way too long for me to go around gossiping about your private things...and I am in the same spot as you are. You could do the same thing to me, you know?" David gave a little snort of realization before replying, "Oh yeah, I guess you're right. Guess I'm still getting used to all of this stuff with us having boyfriends." Jason giggled a little at that...it sounded kinda funny coming from David. Then more seriously Jason asked the question that he had been waiting to be ask. "Don't you think it's kinda weird though - being gay? Like I feel like I'm just not made right - like a broken toy sometimes...and until I found Chris, a toy that nobody else would want to play with..." "Jeez Louise, Jason, I never once had any idea you felt that way. Talking about being gay does seem really weird, but you know what? When Tris and I are together it seems to be the most natural thing in the world and he makes me feel so good...you just can't believe how good. I never thought I would fall in love with a guy so I hadn't ever felt like I was different...at least until lately. I guess we all need to be loved and to love a special person...it's just turned out that I found that special person to be a guy. Do you still feel like you are a broken toy then?" Jason's revelation of his feelings had surprised David and he was curious if Jason still felt that way. Jason liked action, not words and he found it difficult, not to talk about these things, but found it difficult to find the right words to say. "I don't feel normal really...but I feel special. It'll sound corny but I love Chris sooo much and he actually loves me back. I dunno it's hard to explain how I feel." Then the words came to him. "No!" Jason said quickly. "I was broken before but now I'm okay....it's like I was a video game without the unit to make it work." David shook his head smiling. "No no.. listen. It's like I had all this love to give like a game has info, but I had nothing to give it to.. no one who wanted it. Now I have Chris it's like I'm complete. I work now!" It made sense to Jason but he wasn't sure how David received it. "Yeah, like you found the missing piece to your life, is that it?" "Ummm hmmm, that too." Jason had to know more about the way David felt about himself. He asked in a quick flurry of questions, "So what were you saying then, David? Does that mean you are gay or bi? Do you think you could ever love a girl?" "Bi? What's bi?" Jason giggled again at that question of David's before finding the composure to answer, "You mean you don't know what bi means? You really are new to all of this, aren't you? Bi means bisexual, you know like AC/DC? You can get it on with either girls or guys?" "You keep giggling like that and I'll give you something to giggle about! I remember where your tickle spots are," David mock threatened Jason. "Don't forget David, I know where yours are too! So answer the question, boy. Are you gay or bi?" "I'm no boy...not any more...and don't you forget that! As far as your question goes, I would say that I must be more like bi cuz you know there's been certain girls whose bras and panties I would have liked to get into..." "Would have liked? What the hell does that mean?" "What do you suppose, pecker head? Use the brains God gave you in your big head for once. As long as Tristan and I are a couple I'm not going to cheat on him with anybody, no matter what they have between their legs. He would be so hurt if I ever did that." "I'm a pecker head? Listen to you David! You think you are such a man now! Do me a favor and hold up a sword and yell 'I have the power' wouldja HeMan? We'll get you a blue spandex suit with red underwear over the top with a big 'D' in a yellow and red diamond." Jason was laughing a belly laugh so hard now that David's head slid down into Jason's lap. "Oops. You better not go there or you'll wake up Jason Jr." It was David's turn to laugh now. "Jason Jr.? You call IT Jason Jr.? That's the funniest thing I've ever heard." "What's so funny about that? Don't you call yours something?" "OK, you're right. I call him 'my buddy'." Jason started snickering. "Now what's so funny?" "So if you ever call me your 'buddy' I'm supposed to do what? Grow bigger or something?" "You're awful, you know that?" "Nah, I'm not awful, just BBBBBAAAAADDDD." Jason laughed so hard after saying that, David's head was sliding down again. David couldn't help it, he had to laugh too at Jason's infectious sense of humor. "Yup, can't argue with that," David agreed as he repeated Jason's intonation, "You are BBBBBBAAAADDDD." They repeated it back and forth a few more times until they finally done laughing about how 'bad' Jason was. The two of them re-situated themselves so David's head was once again resting on Jason's belly. Jason turned all serious again and asked, "Can I like ask you a couple more questions David?" "I guess so, only if you aren't going to laugh at me." "Well, I'll try not to, but I can't help it with some of the things you say. 'Kay, here's my question. You keep saying you are a man now. Does that mean you're not a virgin anymore?" "That's getting pretty personal, isn't it?" "So? You keep saying how you're are such a man now. Are you all talk or is it real? Besides, I've been friends with the both of you since before kindergarten and we've never kept secrets from each other....till now." "Jason, there's just some stuff between Tristan and me that you don't go around telling other people, you know?" "Can't you tell me some things at least? I gotta know cuz its important to me. I got my reasons." "Listen dude, if I spill my personal stuff, you hafta too." There was no way David was going to let Jason pump him for personal stuff without getting repaid in the same coin. "Well, duh! Like I'm going jump right up and run out of here after you tell me something and call everyone in school about us having boyfriends and what we do...right you are, David. So come on now, tell me." David was silent for a minute while he deciding how much he should tell Jason. Was it OK for him to tell Jason this stuff? Jason was like his second best friend after Tristan for all those years they had all been friends together. And he was here for him now when he needed him...well, maybe he could tell Jason a little so he knew how things were between Tris and himself. "Well, if you gotta know so bad, no I'm not a virgin anymore." "Kewl," Jason breathed. "So how far have you guys gone? I mean like what have you two done?" "Jason, are you serious? You really do want to know everything don't you?" "Yeah.....I do. So what have you guys done?" "Everything, I guess. We've given our virginity to each other both ways, you might say. So what about you? What have you and Chris done?" Jason looked down at the floor for a moment before looking back at David. "Kay. Well, I guess I could say that I've given it to Chris so to speak, but I haven't taken it." Tilting his head to one side David said, "That it? Nothing else? And given him what? Your cherry or your cock?" Jason's eyes were looking at David but in reality they were focused inward. "My cock. It was so amazing," Jason recalled lovingly of his first time. "It felt great physically, but what really happened is that we fell totally in love and that was so much better!" "Yeah, and like I thought that falling in love was just something they said...but you know what, it really is like that, isn't it?" "Yeah, it sure is." Jason shifted position before he continued talking, "So I gotta know, what was Tristan's whopper of a cock like up there?" "You really want to know that don't you? Now I got it. That's what you've been wondering, isn't it? "Yeah. I mean I want to know what to expect when Chris and I do it. And I figure if you can stand to have Tristan put that thing of his in there I can probably handle Chris'. David snickered about that before replying, "Yeah, Tris always has had more of a love muscle than us, hasn't he?" Jason giggled as a memory flashed in his mind, "Yeah, and remember how bashful he was in the seventh grade when we had to start taking showers in P.E. before he figured out all the other boys were jealous of him? Then you couldn't get him out of the shower!" Jason laughed again as he remembered back to those days gone by. "So are you going to tell me?" "Well, at first I was scared he was going to rip me wide open with that whopper of his, but he was so gentle and went slow so I could get used to him in there. Then he started hitting the sweet spot in there and I was in heaven. You can't believe how good it can feel." David turned his head to look at Jason before he confessed, "The first time Tristan fucked me I shot cum like a race horse without anything touching my cock." Jason let out a low whistle. "That must have been awesome." "It was more than awesome, dude! And you feel so totally filled and joined together and then so empty when he pulls out. Just talking about it gets me want him like sooo bad. We better stop talking about this stuff, Jason, cuz its making me miss Tris way too much!" David sat up then and found the TV remote and started channel flipping, the tent in his pants making his source of discomfort more than obvious. As David flipped through the channels and buzzed past CNN a snippet of the announcer's voice came through, "devastating tornado has just torn its way through downtown Lubbock, destroying everything in its path..." David frantically tried to find his way back to the CNN channel again to pick up more of that very disturbing news story being aired. Each second was an eternity before he was back on the correct channel and once again heard the announcer who was now saying, "emergency responders are having extreme difficulty reaching the hardest hit portions of the city where the tornado, now thought to be an F4 in intensity, has completely destroyed many buildings and thrown vehicles around like toys. Word has reached us that there are reports of casualties. The mayor has declared a state of emergency and has asked the governor of Texas to call out the National Guard to assist. Stay tuned for more news as it becomes available...news crews are on their way to the scene now and we'll provide more news coverage as soon as possible." The view on the TV screen shifted to another story, this one was some dull story about the President leaving on an economic conference. David slowly turned to look at Jason with an incredulous look of shock on his face. "Oh my God Jason! Tristan could have been right in that tornado! What if the tornado hit the motel where he was staying? I wonder if he's OK...he never wanted to go there..." David found his way over to his bed and gingerly sat down, as if something inside him would break. "Oh fuck! This is really bad. I'm so worried...I don't know what to do." Jason slid over to sit beside David and wrapped an arm around him. "Remember what I told you earlier? You gotta be optimistic, dude. Don't assume the worst here. Ummmm, besides you have his telephone number, right? So call him and find out if he's OK or not." "Great idea! I'll call him right now. I gotta know if he's OK!" David dashed for the telephone outside of his room and hastily dialed the number he had jotted down on his hand when he talked to Tristan earlier. It took an extraordinarily long time for the phone to respond however, finally returning with the annoying series of error tones and the message, "We are sorry but all circuits are busy. Please try your call again later." Dejectedly David returned to his room and told Jason in a disgusted tone of voice, "The darn circuits are all busy and I couldn't get through. I'll try again in fifteen minutes." That fifteen minutes seemed to last a century! David was nervous and he paced and restlessly straightened everything in his room at least three times while he waited. Finally, he went to dial long distance for Tristan. Again, it took forever for the connection to be made, this time resulting in a fast busy tone...quite a bit different from the one he usually heard when calling his friends at home. "That's better, at least now I'm getting a busy signal...I'm gonna keep trying every five minutes or so," David reported to Jason. And that's what David did for the next half hour, each time receiving that fast busy signal. He was getting frustrated and more and more tense each time he tried. They continued to watch CNN and CNN was only airing the original announcement with no updates. Then, after countless attempts, his call to the Quality Suites Inn returned with a ring instead of a busy! David's hopes soared and he anticipated being able to talk with Tristan in seconds. NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE! David let it ring at least 20 times and there was no answer. His hopes dashed, David's spirits plunged even deeper. By this time Jason was laying on the bed dozing. It was really late by now, well into the wee hours of the morning and Jason couldn't help it, his eyes kept closing. "Dude, I can't keep my eyes open. Let's go to bed...but you can keep the TV on if you want in case they have any news about Lubbock," Jason suggested sleepily. "In the morning they'll fix the phones and you can talk to Tristan then. I'll get my sleeping bag rolled out and crash on the floor right next to ya, kay?" "Ummmm, Jason, just forget the sleeping bag. I was kinda wondering if you could like sleep in my bed with me? I was gonna ask you before and now I really don't want to sleep alone." Jason took one look at David's forlorn face and decided right away that David really was sincere in his plea. "Sure, no prob there David. Let me shed these clothes and we can do a sleep over like we used to when we were little kids!" "Kewl." David slid off his shirt and pants and climbed into bed so he was facing the tv in front of Jason. He turned to face Jason for a moment. "Thanks for being here tonight Jason. I don't know what I would have done without you, dude." Jason patted David's arm. "Like I said, no prob there dude! Why don't you try to get some sleep now. Maybe they will have more news about what happened in the morning. And then maybe the phones will be fixed or someone will be there to answer them." "Yeah, I sure hope so. Ummmmm, Jason could you do something else?" "Was' tha' dude," Jason slurred sleepily. David had one more thing on his mind. Hesitantly and very softly he asked, "I was wondering if you would mind if you could kinda like snuggle up so I know you're there, and maybe kinda like put your arm over me? I've gotten used to it cuz Tris and I always slept like that." Jason smiled a tired smile and remarked, "That's so kewl, dude. I sure hope Chris and I can be the same kind of couple you and Tristan are. Just don't rape me, 'kay?" Jason giggled a little before snuggling up tight to David and holding him loosely. "There, is this ok?" David wiggled contentedly against Jason, feeling his presence and warmth which brought back the feelings of comfort and security David had found in Tristan's love. "Rape you? You wish. Thanks dude. Night night." Jason giggled again at David's use of little boy words and gave him a little hug. "Night night to you too." Jason was asleep in seconds, breathing the deep breaths of sound sleep while spooned up against David. David tried to sleep and closed his eyes, but his worry for Tristan kept him from falling into the oblivion of a restful and deep sleep. At best David dozed, sleeping and waking in fits and starts, watching bits and pieces of news stories all night long. Meanwhile, as David was trying to reach him in Lubbock, Tristan and his dad were having a little talk in their destroyed motel room. Tristan slowly lowered himself down next to his dad, still shaking and scared from the tornado's passing, his throat sore from screaming. Tristan verbalized what was in his head at that very moment, "Oh God, I thought we were gonna die here....and I would never be able to hold David again and tell him that I love him." Randy twisted around where he sat and stared through the darkness at Tristan. He wasn't sure what he just heard. Was it the shock from the tornado that just tried to kill them affecting his perceptions so much that everything at this moment seemed so unreal? "What did you just say?" he demanded. Tristan froze. His heart skipped a beat and then began to pound in his chest once more and he immediately broke into a cold sweat. Tristan swallowed and opened his mouth more than once before saying nothing, desperately trying to think of what to say to his dad. Randy stared at Tristan, waiting for him to say something. After a long wait while Randy groped through his memory for the astounding words Tristan used before repeating them back out loud. "Tristan, did you just say that you thought you would never hold David again and tell him you love him? Is that what you just said?" This was it. The moment of truth. He had said those damning words out loud and his dad heard every word!. Crap! No, it was way worse than that! FUCK!! Tristan wanted to sink through the floor yet he knew there was no escape...when the lights came on or when it would be light outside his dad would be able to see him and see how scared he was and there would be no hiding or denying anything. Somehow his dad always knew when Tristan was lying...he had never been able to fool his dad, ever. He began to shiver uncontrollably from the adrenalin that was coursing through his veins--he was so scared. He wrapped his arms around his knees as he sat against the wall and tried to hold himself together, both physically and emotionally. In the furthest corner of his mind he was amazed how the terror he experienced from the tornado was so different from how scared he was at that very moment. Tristan had to choose whose love was more important to him...his love for his dad who kept him and took care of him as he grew up, or the new found love he had discovered with David. Either way he chose there was a considerable risk of ultimately losing the love of one of the two people in his life most important to him. As Tristan delayed his reply over what seemed an eternity to Randy, Randy began to discern the truth...things began to add up why Tristan had been acting so differently. Could it be true? Had his little boy fallen in love, and with David, the boy who was Tristan's best friend ever since they started grade school? Randy wondered if he was dreaming--the whole night was turning into a surreal experience. "Well, Tristan, are you going to answer me?" Randy demanded after what seemed to be an extremely long wait. Tristan barely found his voice and took a mental plunge. He croaked out a reply after swallowing hard. "Uhhhhhhhh, yeah, Dad. That's what I said." There. He said it. With trepidation turning his insides into a ball of ice he waited for his dad's reaction. Tristan was ready for anything but as he waited he also felt relieved in a strange way. He had made his choice and it was irrevocable. If loving David made him gay, then so be it--he was gay and he would love David until his last breath, no matter what the consequences were, no matter what his dad said or did. Still in total shock Randy needed more clarification than that so again he asked, "You love David. And you want to hold him. Does that mean that you are 'in love' with David?" Tristan hung his head and talked to the floor in total resignation. Obviously the entire truth would have to come out. "Yes, Dad. I'm 'in love' with David and he loves me back. And yes dad, I guess it makes me gay." In that instant everything became totally clear to Randy. Now he understood why Tristan was behaving so strangely and was so opposed to their moving. But it was more than that. More than he cared to admit Tristan was like him and was cursed with the same affliction of homosexuality. A deluge of emotions washed over Randy, one right after another. First was the relief of knowing why Tristan had been acting so strangely, then a deep sadness for what Tristan would face in terms of bigotry and misunderstanding of his sexuality, and after that came the guilt. By having a male child he had condemned another person to the purgatory of same sex desire he had lived with and tried to deny for his entire life since the onset of puberty. Finally came the realization that he had to say something to Tristan, but what? Sinking back to lean against the wall again Randy settled back to talk. There were a lot of things he and Tristan needed to sort through. Here in this hotel they had just survived a devastating tornado and now in the aftermath of that life-threatening event there was this revelation from Tristan. "I had no idea you felt that way. None at all. No wonder the idea of moving to Lubbock is so upsetting to you. And you were afraid to tell me the truth, weren't you?" "Yes," Tristan all but whispered back. "I didn't think you were gonna like that your only son turned out to be gay." "My God, Tristan! Don't you know that you are the most important thing in the my life...you were before the tornado here tonight and still are and always will be. All through the divorce and the years afterwards I have done everything I possibly could to give you a good home. No matter what, you are my son and I love you still." With those words Randy reached over and wrapped his right arm around Tristan and gave him a hug and then left his arm there draped around Tristan's shoulders. That little hug and his dad holding him felt so good to Tristan. It wasn't often that Randy showed physical affection towards Tristan beyond the mock fights they had when they would throw punches at each other and wrestle. Tristan leaned into his dad and relaxed, recapturing in that instant the feeling he had as a young boy when he felt totally safe and secure whenever his dad would hold him. "I love you too Dad. I was afraid to tell you like I didn't want to disappoint you. And you know...you hear how gay people are treated really bad by their families and their friends when they come out sometimes so I was afraid." "Yeah, I know Tristan. You don't have to worry about that now." Randy paused for a few moments, then asked, "Can I ask you a question or two here?" "Sure. What?" "Ummmm. Are you sure about this being gay? I mean are you really sure? It's such a big decision and it will affect you the rest of your life...probably more than any other decision you will ever make." "Well Dad, I'm pretty sure. I know how much I love David and like I told you, he loves me back. But Dad, you can't say anything to Dan and Staci about us being gay and stuff cuz David's family is so anti-gay. He's afraid of what they would do if they found out." "Uhhhhhh. Don't you think they should know?" "NO WAY Dad! David's like really afraid of how his dad would be. He told me that Dan really really hates gays!" "Couldn't you guys just be best buddies? Then Dan wouldn't have a problem with that?" "Like get real, Dad! David and I are waaaay past the best buddies stuff." "Oh....like how much past the best buddies stuff?" "Ooops. Me and my big mouth did it again, didn't I? Are you sure you really want to know?" "After tonight I don't think there is much else that would shock me, Tristan. I guess your answer would tell me a couple of things like how serious your relationship really was and what kind of health risks you have taken on as a result. We never did get around to having that birds and bees talk and even though its kinda late for the elementary stuff, I still have a few concerns to talk about." Tristan was silent for a few moments. "Ummmmm. Well dad, maybe I should just say that there isn't anything left to me being a virgin anymore." "Anything left? You mean like nothing left?" Randy asked with a hint of incredibility in his voice. "Ummm, yeah, Dad." "Uh huh. Well, sex is a pretty wonderful thing as you have found out." Randy thought back to when he had his first sexual experience with his ex-wife, Tristan's mother. Randy had wanted to prove that he wasn't gay in the worst way at that time in his life. And then he remembered how she had become pregnant with Tristan. What he said next was important to him, even though it didn't seem make a whole lot of sense to Tristan. "I guess I don't have to be concerned about an unplanned pregnancy here, do I? You know Tristan, one of the prices you will have to pay for being gay is not having children of your own. You will never have a son like I do to raise and to be proud of. Have you thought of that?" "Well no, not really. But, it makes no difference Dad...David is the person I want to be with and to love and if we can't have kids, well maybe we can adopt one or something." "It won't be exactly the same David. You won't be able to see yourself and your heritage in your child. You won't ever see your father's or the mother's features and personality in your children like I can see in you and take comfort in the fact that a part of me will go on living after I die...that is what I am talking about. Oh sure, you can adopt a child to raise and to love, but there is still a sacrifice involved." "I don't know about that right now Dad. I haven't worried about having kids and that kinda stuff....I'm only 16!" "Yeah, that's what I mean. You are only 16 and you are making a real serious decision at this stage in your life. And then there are the health risks that homosexuals face. Have you thought about that?" "Dad! David and I aren't going to cheat on each other! We don't have to worry about AIDS and all that crap that they try to scare you with!" "You're partly right....and it really does matter that you stay faithful to each other to be safe from all the different kinds of STD's. If one of you cheats just once with any guy, you open the both of you to the risks of all those ugly, ugly sexual diseases. I don't want you to ever have to face the prospect of AIDS either for yourself or someone you love, Tristan. It's a brutal, merciless disease." "Don't worry dad. We won't cheat on each other. Really!" "Good. I hope not because it's very important that both of you can trust each other not to. And then, there's always the possibility of the regular types of infection that you can get from having gay sex. I bet you never knew or even thought about that." "No. I guess not," Tristan reluctantly admitted. "I didn't think so. It's not talked about in the news but it is still a reality. Tristan, the nature of gay sex is that it makes you more prone to infections. There are greater chances that you may get bladder or kidney infections, or if you aren't gentle with each other you can injure or tear the colon and cause an infection there too. So if you ever get a pain the your lower regions that doesn't go away quickly, please don't be embarrassed or let anything stop you from getting it checked out by a doctor. That too is a price you must be willing to pay if you choose to live the gay lifestyle." "Gee Dad, how do you know all this stuff?" Tristan asked not so innocently because he was really wondering now if his dad was keeping secrets about his past...he was amazed at how much his old man knew that he, Tristan, hadn't heard of or even thought of yet! "It's the experience that comes with age, Tristan. Experience teaches you to think past the present and consider the consequences of your choices when you make big decisions like this." "You mean experience like you having a boyfriend before you married Mom?" Tristan asked hopefully. "Good Lord, No!," Randy hastily answered. "I meant life experience and being able to put diverse sets of facts together when you find yourself in an important decision. I have never had a boyfriend...or a serious girlfriend besides your mother for that matter." "Oh, I didn't know that," Tristan replied thoughtfully. "What I do know is that I totally love David and I don't want to be separated from him and that's why I don't want to move here to Lubbock. When David is with me I feel like I am a whole person instead of there being a piece of me that is missing. I don't know how else to tell you how it makes me feel. Does that make sense to you?" Randy sighed before answering. "Yeah. I think I can understand what you are telling me. Now I know why you were acting so strangely since you came home from the Brandt farm....well, I wasn't too impressed with the hot, humid weather today and after the tornado tonight there is no way I want to move here either. I guess we are meant not to move after all." Randy paused, thinking. "It means we won't be able to get ahead like I was hoping and that you will have to get by with less and shoulder more of your own expenses this way. Is that what you want?" "YES! Yes, Yes, Yes! Oh thank you dad! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Tristan was on his feet and jumping up and down in an eyeblink, not even aware of his lightening swift reaction as he was caught up in his jubilant reaction. "Settle down there Tristan! First we need to get out of this wrecked motel before anything else can happen. There's still no electricity. That's not good. It means the tornado ripped things up pretty bad around here. Let's get out of this bathroom and see what's going on." There wasn't much they could see. It was still pitch black outside since the power was out. From what they were stumbling over in the room they could tell everything inside was a complete mess. The strobe lights from emergency vehicles could be seen flashing here and there across the city but little else could be seen. The wind blowing in through the smashed windows was cold and humid, forcing Randy and Tristan to go back into the shelter of the bathroom. "We might as well wait for morning in here since we can't see a darn thing," Randy said as they settled down into the blankets. "Try to get some sleep as I'm sure it will be a long day once it gets light out." "OK Dad. Ummmmm, Dad?" "What Tristan?" "Thanks for being such a great dad and not getting all bent outa shape 'bout me and David." "You and David being a couple doesn't change the fact that you are my son and all the other things that make me proud of you, Tristan. I'm just glad that that stranger who came home from the Brandt farm turned out to be the Tristan I knew, although no longer a boy. Let's try to get some sleep now, OK?" "Kay Dad. Love you." "Love you too Tristan." Those words being said the two Cochrans settled down with their blankets and pillows on the floor of the bathroom and dozed through the rest of that momentous night. ******************************** Well, that's the end Chapter 3. For those of you who were looking for some heavy action in this chapter I am sorry to have disappointed you this time. But what can I say? After all, Tristan and David weren't together for this chapter. Chapter 4 will not disappoint you, I promise! ;) Speaking of chapter 4 I have to forewarn you that it will probably not be ready until sometime in January of 2000. Hope your Holiday season is a good one!
