Before him stood a large open plain, littered with brightly coloured flowers. "What do you mean, what do I think? I was no expecting my room to be a field of flowers! I was expecting closer to an empty, gray spac-" As he spoke it, the room itself changed to what he was imagining, and before him was a grey box-like chamber. "[See? It adapts to what you want it to be. All you need is to tell it what to do.]" "Can it be anything at all?" "[Yes, as long as it isn't hamful to you, there are protective messures in place to prevent mishaps]" "If you say so. I want it to be a large library, filled with books on-" Again, the room responded to his partly unfinished wish, and before him stood the most extensive library he had ever seen. At least four stories tall, with shelves as far as his eyes could see, it seemed like a heaven on earth! He ran in, and took the first one off the shelf. "The Principles of Primal Magic" the cover read. He opened it, and to his amazement, it began with a very simple introduction. "Before we begin, I must state a warning. The secrets held within could be disastrous if it fell into the wrong hands. Whatever you do, do not allow his book to enter ino the hands of mortal creatures, as they may cause damage to themselves and to our security. If you read from these pages, NEVER repeat what is detailed herein to any ear but other readers, lest the light destroy you itself." "What happened to warrent such a warning? "[I haven't got a clue, I am afraid.]" Whatever means had justified it, his curiousity couldn't be contained, and a such, he looked around some more. Other books in the chamber detailed such subjects as "Elemental Inheritances" to things like "The Shadow: A Detailed Look Into the World of Darkness". The later caught his attention. "What do they mean by the World of Darkness?" [They mean the plane attached to this one that Darkness comes from. As you probably heard, there are 5 recognized elements, Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, and Light. The sixth is Darkness, and is not recognized because The Almighty Light has declared it so.]" The distaste in the voice was easily identified as he said "Almighty Light". <> "Why isn't it recognized?" "[Why does the Lord of Light do anything? To get rid of its opposite, to rule supreme.]" At the last comment, Darren dropped the subject, it was obviously antagonizing his companion. It was at this point, also, that Darren realized he hadn't slept in over a day. "Could I get a-" Before he could finish, a massive bed materialized before him, and he dropped onto it, fast asleep. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "That is correct my lord, a shadowborn has made it into the sanctuary of the Throne of the Elements." "" "He seems to draw power from something. He has had no training, but still managed to teleport from Victoria to New York." "" ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Darren woke the next morning to a knock on the door. "Hello? Is there a Darren Atrium here?" "One moment!" Darren rushed to the door, and standing outside it was the most drop dead gorgeous guy he had ever seen. He stood about six foot seven, gleaming gold/white hair, and a smile that shone with almost an un-earthly glow. He was muscular, and his voice was very deep and rich. He was much larger than Nick or his lackeys had been, but his friendly smile took away all of Darren's worry. "I...I am Darren..." He barely mustered. "I am Tobius Desera, pleased to meet you. I am going to be taking a tour of the building, and I share your schedule, so if you need any help, just ask, ok?" "S...S...ure..." Darren was really distracted at this point. This guy looked like a movie star, and he was going to give him a tour? Better yet, he shared his schedule? This arrangement was looking quite good at this point. "O, I nearly forgot, you should put this on." He stated, handing Darren a long, black, very soft robe. Darren slipped it over his head, and it almost changed itself to fit! It also began changing. When he put it on, it was very plain, but within seconds, large spikes started forming, and soon, he had shoulder decorations that looked like horns! "Wow... I have never seen anyone get a student's robe to do THAT before..." Tobius said with a face that could only be described as awe-full. Before both of their eyes, The robe continued to change. Gloves came down out of the sleeves, each with steel looking claws, and the neck grew into a hood. The robe itself grew more spikes, this time out of the front and back. The front became a very intricate decoration, in the shape of a spiral, with outshoots of different colour. six in total, a red, a blue, a green, a yellow, a black, and a white. The spikes growing from his back became giant wings, both as black as night, and seemingly flexible, because as he moved, they ruffled and swayed. "I take that back, WOW does not begin to cover it..." He looked at Darren, his eyes full of awe. "[Did I go a wee bit too far?]" "{JUST MAYBE????}" "[O well, too late now!]" "I am terribly sorry Tobius, I don't even know how that happened-" Darren began to explain. "What are you appologizing for? You just showed me the coolest thing I have ever seen anyone other than the lords do! How in creation did you do that?" "To tell you the truth, I don't really know...i just do stuff like that sometimes." "Well, however you did it, I liked it. You look downright WICKED!" Darren turned around, and got his room to make a mirror. To his astonishment, in the mirror, he saw exactly what he had imagined being a demon would look like. His hood ended with 2 massive looking horns, and his elbows, shoulders, and back and large spikes running down them. His wings looked very real, and he could move them individually. They almost looked like they were made of black glass, and were incredibly lightweight. His chs had the very large symbol on it, and he then noticed that the white and black pieces of it were glowing. "[This means that someone of the heritage that corresponds with that colour is close to you. The black will always glow, because of you. that means...]" "You are lightborn, aren't you Tobius?" Darren stated bluntly. He wasn't in the mood for subtlety. "Yes I am, I am impressed that a new student could tell that so easily. Most think I am a Child of the Wind, because of my strong voice, and the wavy hair, but my eyes are a bit of a give-away. Only then did Darren notice them. Tobius' eyes seemed to glow! They were amber in colour, and were almost difficult to look at, because of their sheer beauty. "We should probably hurry, or Mr. Serras will be angry, you don't want to be late to your first day of school, now do you?" "Point well made, lead the way!" "One thing you should know" Tobius began as he walked down the wisting corridors of the Elements Inc. building. "This building is considered a sanctuary, no one can hurt anyone here. It is the only truly safe place on the plane for elementals. If you walk out the door, anyone can try to kill you to take your power." This stopped Darren in his tracks. "Take my power? How is that possible? Ms. Brightfeather said it was inherited-" "That is true, but there are devices made to harvest elemenal energy. Mortal sorcerers use it to control and kill us, and to fuel their spells." "{Keep note, never leave the building!}" <> "[That wasn't obviuos from the beginning?????]" "Here we are, room 0337, History, Mr. Serras. I will talk to you after class, but I would recomend paying attention in class. Mr. Serras has one 'fiery' temper, if you will." "Fireborn, is he?" "Yep, and he shows it. Discipline is still allowed, just remember that." "Yes sir!" As Tobius opened the door, Darren heard a very thin voice coming out of the room. "I expect my students to be here on time, Tobius! Being a Lightborn does not give you permission to be-" "Sorry I am late, Mr. Serras, but I was fetching our new student!" "New student? I don't see a new student! what are you talking about, Tobius? "Th..th..that would be me, sir." Darren said as he walked through the door. There was an audible gasp, as the entiire room held their breath. Mr'. Serras looked past Tobius, and froze. "THAT IS THE NEW STUDENT???!?!???????" "Yes, Mr. Serras, that is Darren Atrius. Check your attendance once in a while, would you? "BUT....But his robes are like those of lords! Why has he been given such extravagent-" "Mr. Serras, I gave him the customary student's robe. He changed it into that! "You dare to do such a thing, Child? Do you realize the possible conciquences of mimicing a lord? They don't find mocking ver-" "*YOU DARE TO INSINUATE I AM MOCKING ANYONE? I HAVE JUST ARRIVED IN THIS PLACE, AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A 'LORD' IS*! Darren then noticed the face Mr. Serras had put on. He was absolutely terrified! Darren looked around the room, and noticed everyone was doing the same, even Tobius. "What?" was all Darren could muster. "Y...Y...You are a shadowborn, aren't you?" Darren looked at Mr. Serras again. "Yes, what does it matter to you?" he snapped. Mr. Serras stifened even more. "Would you mind terribly drawing your energies back in, and putting the claws away?" Darren understood the claws, he was brandishing them, after all. The energies, however, he didn't undertand. "What do you mean, drawing in my energies?" "You mean you released that much energy, and didn't even notice? There is so much floating around, a sorcerer would be set for years!" "[Simply breathe in very deeply, and hold your hands to your sides.]" Darren did so, and awed the class again. Darren's form was engulfed by the shadows in the room, and by the energy he had released. Inside the chaos of the darkness, Darren saw something. It was a VERY tall, dark figure. He was impossible to focus on, but his grin gleamed in the shadows. "[Well done, my son.]" was all it said, before the shadows dissapated. He was back in the classroom, filled with students that had mixed faces on. Most were simply terrified. Some had this strange look of hatred on their faces, and a very few had this look of adoration on their faces, or it was very impressed. Mr. Serras, in particular, showed a very impressed face. "You shouldn't need my class if you can do that untrained, but I suppose you could use a lesson or two in the history. Please, take your seet and we shall begin.
