Long had the realm of Calsienaria lived in tranquility. So long in fact, that the immortals of old had ascended and those that replaced them had never realized tranquility could end. And so when the darkness came, only the King of the Immortals felt fear. For fear was an emotion of old and as such, had long ago been lost. Even when the fauna took to the shadows and returned mutated with a thirst for blood, fear was not found. Even when creatures from the deeps of the sea ventured to the shallows of Meiela, fear was not found. Uncertainty... Confusion... Disbelief... Ignorance... but not fear. Fear in Calsienaria was discovered on the banks of Meiela, on the fourth day of the second moon. At least that is the theory, for the only survivors were the creatures from the deeps that had returned to their home that very morning. Another event scars the banks of Meiela, on the fourth day of the second moon. An event simultaneous to the discovery of fear: the extinction of the Mer. It was a sad event, the extinction of the Mer. The Mer were a peaceful people that often helped the Immortals in matters of Sea, as only a small number of Immortals held the ability to command the sea. In return the Mer were aided in matters of land, it was on one of these matters of land that an Immortal found the bodies of Mermaid and man littered along the entire coast of Meiela. So it is theorized that on that day the Mer discovered fear, for what else but fear would cause creatures of the sea to crawl from safety to where death would be inevitable within minutes? Though the discovery was made and fear began to return to the Immortals, it was an emotion not at all recognized or understood. Some translated fear into disbelief and ignorance, mocking others for their rashness while believing themselves untouchable. Some translated fear into uncertainty and confusion, which led to discord among the Immortals much like that of the humans that were exiled to the mountains a millennia ago. Some translated fear into pride and bravado, announcing their loyalties to the Royal family and their willingness to protect them into the afterlife. It was the Immortals from the last group that enabled the King to create a rift out of Calsienaria to a world he left long ago, a world that the exiled humans of Calsienaria originated from, a world named Earth. During the ceremony necessary to cause such an imbalance of nature, the land of the Immortals was invaded. Little did the King know that it was his compassion that brought about this attack of his Kingdom. This attack was meticulously planned out and had been brewing for 200 years, ever since the King had elected to exile an Immortal guilty of the highest treachery instead of executing him like the laws of old called for. While this Immortal was able to retain his immortality, he lost his right to ascension forcing him to live exiled with humans for all of time. Ever since his arrival to mountains, he devoted his life to gaining influence over what the Immortals called the mountains of humanity. And so his plan has finally come into place and this time he not only plans to carry out his original treachery of killing the King's heir, he plans to eliminate the whole royal family as well. The King's heir is a young Immortal of 163 years of age. While to most humans this age would be impossible to reach, especially while remaining youthful, to his kind the Prince was that of a 16 year old boy when compared to human life. Unlike his people, who only studied and prospered in the arcane arts of nature, the Prince had access to the Royal vault of Knowledge and studied every type of magic possible. Also unlike his people, who lived in harmony unaware of darkness, the Prince was taught the teaching of old by the King and so the when the darkness came the Prince begged his father to for a chance to strike back. However, due to fear, the King denied this request. The King was a gallant King, and the fear he felt was not a fear of the darkness or his self, it was a fear for his people and only child. As soon as the rift was stable, without hesitance, the King made his last decree as King by abdicating his crown, thus making his son, and heir-apparent, King. A flash of blinding white light envelops the room as the seat of power that comes with being the King of the Immortals is transferred from father to son. With the words "Never doubt yourself or my love for you" the freshly-made King is sent by his father through the rift along with his personal companion and a single box. Unbeknownst to the New King, the rift remained stable for a short while allowing his father to send 16 more of his people through to a hopefully safer existence. EARTH: IN AN UNKNOWN FOREST: After hearing what sounded like a sonic boom, a girl and her parents are awakened from sleep. Climbing out of the tent, the 16 year old girl sees a puppy running in circles. When she goes towards the pup, it takes off in the direction of the noise, only stopping long enough for the girl to follow. "Kathy, be careful! We don't know what made that noise!" "I know mom! I'm not stupid! Come on, we have to find the puppy before he gets lost!" Finally catching up to the pup, Kathy finds him licking a sleepy teen boy. `wait he looks hurt' she thinks as she realizes he's passed out and not asleep. `wow, this puppy is like Lassie' The family cuts their camping trip to help the young teen. First they gather his belongings and the pup, and then they take him to see the local doctor who lets them take the boy home to recover. After getting the boy into the guestroom, Kathy looks oddly at the boy before heading to her own room to sleep. `He has pointy ears' is her last thought before sleep takes her. Any guesses as to what the Immortals actually are? Oh, and I don't have anyone editing my work, so I apologize for any errors...They're my fault :/
