They all said their goodbyes as Simon and Brian got on their bikes and started to pedal off again, their friends waving as they shrank away into the distance. "That was fun!", Simon mentioned once they were on their way. Brian smiled back in reply and thought it was rather interesting that the other boy kept staring at everything with big eyes as if it still was new to him. Sometimes he'd stop right in the street to examine a carelessly tossed candy wrapper or such (and dutifully pick it up and put it in a pocket). He'd check out every new house they passed, every little park, every person, every child... Everything deserved its own look from Simon's brown eyes. "What do Bobby's parents do anyway?", he said after a while. "Hmmm... I'm not sure. I think they're caterers or something like that. Or else they run a restaurant, it's something with food anyway." After they were almost halfway around the lake and reaching the limits of the residential area, near to where the forest began, Simon stopped. They were right at a large grassy field where Brian knew kids liked to play ball. In winters, it would be turned into an ice rink for skating. He knew all this despite almost never having been there. Again his reluctance to seek the company of others had seen to that. Now however Simon stood there at the side of the street watching two teams battling it out at baseball, and that made it okay for Brian to be there too. He had company already. Simon was watching the game in total silence, not moving, not reacting. Brian rolled up to his friend's side. "What's the matter?", he asked quietly. "Is something wrong?" "I know that game...", Simon said as if in a trance. "I know all the rules. I know the tactics, the best plays each team could do at this point in the game to win... But, I've never played it." He turned to look at Brian with what the fair-skinned boy would almost call worry in his eyes. "...So how come I know all these things? I've never learnt them!" Brian saw with what almost could be described as horror as the other boy's face collapsed into sadness. He quickly hopped off his bike and reached out his arms and held Simon as he started to sniffle lightly. "It's okay...", the pale-skinned boy said. "It's okay... He hugged Simon as tight as he could, and soon the olive-skinned boy was crying for real. "I wish...", he started. "I don't want to be..." Sobs interrupted him every time he tried to speak. Brian felt REALLY worried all of a sudden! "Si, what's WRONG?", he asked with such concern that it actually hurt inside him! "Tell me!" Simon tried to speak but no words would come, he was crying too much. Brian could only hold the other boy tight, then he tried a small kiss too on a cheek. Simon seemed to start to calm down almost at once. Another kiss, and Simon drew a deep shuddering breath. A third kiss, on soft lips. Both boys feeling so much for the other. "I wish...", Simon tried again after that kiss, speaking in a voice that quivered all over the place. "I wish I wasn't a robot. I wish I was..." He sniffled once. "A boy. A real boy like you..." Then he started crying yet again. "Si-Simon...?", Brian said. "It doesn't matter... It's okay! It really is!" No reply came. Only more crying. If anything, it was even fiercer than before. "Please! Stop! There's nothing wrong with you, can't you see that?" He hugged Simon so tight his arms ached. "No! I'm all fake, can't YOU see that? I'm just plastic. I'm nothing but a toy!" Brian's hold softened, yet deepened somehow. "Simon... NO. There's nothing wrong with you. I... I really like you... You're the best friend I've ever had! Maybe the only friend!" He caressed soft, wet cheeks. "You're no toy, not to me, and you're not fake. How can you SAY that?", he said quietly, feeling so much for the olive-skinned boy that he didn't know what to do. "Brian... I wish I was more than I am. I should be, because I think you need more than I am. I don't just like you... I think I might be in love with you..." Simon sniffled more. "But I'm fake, so how can that mean anything?!" It almost felt like Brian's heart stopped. For a few seconds it felt like a shock. Then relief and realization surged through his body. "Simon", he whispered. "I KNOW I love you... I know it!" He felt it. It WAS love. Simon was as real as anyone else to him, more so even since he knew he could trust the other boy without hesitation. That, and Simon's beating heart inside his chest. That was all that mattered to Brian. "I'm not real. I'm NOT real...", Simon repeated softly along with his sniffles. Brian was starting to understand. "Simon. Look at me!", he ordered sharply. The synthetic boy couldn't help to obey. "Does it really bother you that much?", he said quietly and waved an arm in the direction of the playing kids. "If so, then just forget it! Forget them all! Let GO of all that... I love you, Simon. I love you..." He took the olive-skinned boy's face in his hands and kissed him as intensely as he could muster. He tasted the other boy's tongue with his own, and Simon calmed down. Brian felt the other boy's love as he kissed him; showed all his own love to the other. FELT the other boy's love for him. "mmMMH...", he sighed with pleasure. "Sweetheart Si... You feeling any better now?" "Yes, Bri... I am." He tried his hand at a wobbly smile. "My head... It feels lighter now!" A giggle came naturally from both of them. "Simon...!", the pale boy said teasingly. "How much did you forget?! Who are you?" "I am R. Simon Fitzgerald. Model C.R.Y-12, serial number IC35L060 AVER07-0. A boy." Brian grinned happily at the other. "Yes...", he said softly. "You are a boy... Never forget that." "I still remember one game...", the young boy said. "But next time, it's your turn to start." He winked at Brian, definitely dead serious! "Oh, you BET I will, I promise...!" The boys kissed again, a long sweet kiss without any hurry of any kind. Occationally, they'd let their lips separate a little so they could draw new, fresh air, but their mouths still stayed in close contact all the same. They kissed so both of them would feel comfortable with the other, so both of them became convinced of, and comfortable with the love of the other. They sighed quietly to each other, hugging close. It felt so good both boys thought, being held in the arms of another boy. It was where they both belonged. Then, after breaking apart, they sat down in the grass at a large boulder, leaning their backs at it, watching the kids playing finish the game. Holding hands. One of the boys asked questions about what was happening, what the purpose of the game was. Why the kids did what they did, what the rules were. The other boy explained as best he could because he had never actually played the game himself, enrichening the experience with colorful hand and body motions making them both laugh. Then their hands would seek each other out again, without needing any conscious action from the boys themselves, it just happened, on instinct. 24 - More familiar faces. The team with the red bandannas beat the team with the green bandannas by considerably more than a hair. The pale-skinned boy was surprised when one of the red bandanna-wearing boys came running up to them. He was tall and blonde, and good-looking. "Brian! Simon!", the taller boy shouted from a distance. "Did you see my homerun?" The boy glowed with pride and enthusiasm. The other boys quickly got up on their feet to greet their friend. "Yeah!", Brian said. "That was COOL! But I didn't know it was you!" "Hi Cecil!", Simon said. They gave each other a quick hug, and then Brian got one too and it was just slightly longer. "Is Mehdi here too?" Cecil gave a weird giggle. "Yeah, he is! He's back there somewhere, he'll be along soon enough. Dammit, he's so CUTE...! I think I love him already...", he said only half-jokingly. He gave Brian and Simon a quick look. "Don't you think he's cute too?" Simon nodded. "Yeah, he is...!" Cecil laughed! "If YOU say so, then it HAS to be that way!" They sat down together in the grass next to the boulder and waited for Mehdi. "Nice rides!", the homerun boy commented. "I recognize yours, Brian, but not the blue one. Cool. I should ask my parents for a new one too, I sure as hell need it!" Brian giggled. Cecil didn't mind his language very well when his parents or older brothers weren't around! "Yeah, it's a wreck! But it's because you treat it like... Well, like shit, really!" He blushed, he usually didn't use any bad language, but then again, usually he didn't speak to other kids at all so it wasn't much of a pattern to break anyway. "Simon, you're NOT to listen to either of those two!", Mehdi's voice came from behind them. "Cecil's got a real potty-mouth, and now it seems he's infecting Brian too!" The sitting boys twisted around and saw the Arab boy standing there leaning over the boulder, smiling at them. He'd obviously snuck up on them undetected. "What did you think of the homerun?", Cecil asked the newcomer, looking at the other boy with a big smile. "You KNOW what I thought of it! You had me show that quite clearly to everybody there!" Cecil would not back down. "Then you should have no problem showing it again!" The blonde kid took the Arab boy in his arms as he came walking around the boulder and kneeled at his side, receiving his praise right on his hungry lips. Brian almost had a small fit. "Wow! You guys really did THAT earlier? In front of the whole team? BOTH teams?" Mehdi broke away from Cecil so he could reply. "No, that time Cecil grabbed my butt too!" Cecil's barely tanned face clearly reddened at hearing Mehdi's words. "Oh LOOK at him!", the other boy giggled. "He wasn't embarrassed in the least when he did it!" "You don't mind it then? That everybody knows about you, or will know soon enough anyway once rumors starts to spread?" Mehdi shrugged. "No, not really. I don't intend to give the rumors any time to spread, I'm going to kiss Cecil so much tomorrow in school he's going to BEG for mercy." Brian tried to picture it in his head. "Sorry, but that plan's not going to work. Not with Cecil. He'll strip you down in public if you try that trick on him!" The Arab boy grinned. "Maybe I should just let him?", he said and gave the still wildly blushing Cecil a quick look. A close look, filled with love. They kissed again, and sure enough, Cecil's hands found their way down onto Mehdi's shapely buns. "What about... You guys... Then?", he managed (barely) inbetween more kissing action! "We've not told anyone yet. But we've not decided to hide either, I'm sure we'll find the right moment to surprise everybody", Brian said with a happy smile. Then Simon was there, getting in real close. He wanted some of what Mehdi was getting, and so did Brian! He felt hands steal down onto HIS butt too, it was still a new and wonderful sensation for him. Simon was smiling just as their lips met, their nostrils filling with the sweet scent of each other. It was such a lustful moment for Brian, he'd only just been made aware of not only Simon's feelings for him, but of his own feelings for Simon as well. He sat with closed eyes, picturing Simon's pretty, dark-skinned face, framed by his black hair. He felt a pair of hands touching him, and when Brian sucked a smooth, soft lower lip into his mouth and lightly nibbled it, he felt those hands freeze. One on the back of his neck, the other on his waist, trying to sneak in under his shirt. A bubbling giggle wanted to break out of him. He held on to Simon's lip, refusing to let go in one weird, drawn-out kiss. He probed at it with his tongue, teasing its smooth surface. Simon's moist breaths came harder, faster as the pleasant teasing continued and was reinforced by Brian's hands starting to wander as well. Finally, he released Simon, and the boy immediately came at him, putting a wet kiss on both of Brian's cheeks. Suddenly the two loving boys heard giggles coming from the world outside. They opened their eyes again, seeing each other still lost in pleasure for about half a second before turning their heads and looking at those that had intruded into their existence in such a disruptive manner! "Wow! I thought you two would never stop!", Mehdi blurted. "I'm sorry, I just HAD to look..." Brian blushed fiercely. "I love him", he spoke, trying to explain himself before realizing what he'd just said! Then he blushed even more. "I love him too", Simon added in a quiet voice, really shy for some reason. Mehdi's friendly face displayed such extreme surprise. "I should have known", he whispered after gathering himself and picking up his jaw from the ground again. Cecil was completely speechless. Then his face slowly started to smile, more and more. As did Mehdi. "I'm... I'm happy for you!", he said. "I can SEE you mean it too", the boy added tenderly. His hands reached out to touch the other pair, he put a hand on either of their cheeks, guided their heads in together so they touched. Cheek to cheek. Brian felt Simon's soft skin next to his. Felt his beloved's arms around him, fingers holding him in a light, comfortable grip. "There", Mehdi then said and removed his hands from their faces. "That's it... Never forget what that is like. Hold on to that feeling."
