Chapter Five

I had only planned to stay in Venice a short time; just long enough to rest and then move on. It was going on three years now. I wondered if I could ever leave this paradise on the sea. I felt like I had found my soul mate. I knew before long my wanderlust would make me want to move on. I had discussed my plans with Aldo but he kept talking me into staying. Even though I loved him dearly, my longing for knowledge and adventure was languishing here. It finally came to a head. I told him he couldn't stop me this time, I had to go. He nodded his head in understanding but asked if I would attend a concert with him one time before I left.

It was a very special occasion for us. Aldo insisted that we go shopping and get dress cloaks and go in style. The night of the concert, we were getting dressed and Aldo said "could you bring me my jewelry box, love?" I went to his dresser and picked up the jewelry box and went and sat beside him on the bed. He opened the box and rummaged through its contents searching for just the right thing. That's when I saw a piece that caught my eye. There, underneath some gold rings and things, was a silver-colored chain. Attached to the chain was a pendant with an odd symbol.

"Where did you get this one?" I asked, pulling it free from the tangle of precious metals.

"I've had that since I was young" he said. "I helped a man deter some thieves. The two had set upon him trying to steal his coin purse, I ran to his aid and beat the thieves with a stick from the roadside. The man was very grateful. We talked together at length and then he reached into his robe and pulled out the most peculiar wooden box. It was covered in intricate designs and he touched some symbols on one side and suddenly a lid appeared. He slid it open and inside were two of these silver necklaces. Coming from a family of means, silver was not that unusual to me; I preferred gold. Nevertheless, he said it was a special gift, so I took it and came back home. It's been in the jewelry box ever since."

I sat, lost in thought. Vlad had obviously gifted most, if not all, of the necklaces by now. Aldo had no idea what he held in his hands.

"Aldo, you know that I love you and I've told you I feel like you're my soul mate?"

"Yes, love, I feel the same."

"What if I told you we could be together forever?"

"I would say that you have had too much wine, your drunken stupor will ruin our trip to the concert."

"Listen to me carefully. What you have in your hand is the key to what could well be eternal life. I didn't want to tell you for fear of you thinking I had lost my senses, but that old man came to me in my youth in the guise of a Russian grandfather named Vlad. He gave me my necklace when I was a young Russian boy in 1290."

"That's impossible" Aldo said, "that would make you over 200 years old."

"The current year is 1530, so that would make me 240 to be precise. I have lived several lives already. You can join me. If you put the necklace on, it becomes entwined with your soul. When you become old and sick, you find a new vessel, preferably an infant, and arrange for the child to have the necklace after your death."

"So, we could be together forever?"

"Forever or until you grow weary of me."

"I could never grow weary of you, love. However, this is a very serious matter of which you speak. Let me think about it, after the concert I will make my decision."

"I have all the time in the world" I said.

We made our way through the meandering lamplit streets, across campos to the Rialto bridge where we stood in the shadows and embraced each other in silence. After a time, we continued onward to our concert. Neither of us paid much attention to the music. I was apprehensive that he would deny the gift. Aldo seemed to be torn as I watched the emotions roll across his face. On the way back to the apartment, I held his hand in mine, mentally preparing myself for the worst.

"How does the device work?" he asked me, "What is the mechanism?"

I explained how I had jumped through time up to this point.

"What becomes of the soul of the infant whose body you inhabit?" Aldo asked.

"That is the reason I only choose very young infants" I explained. "I've found that if you choose an infant, there are no memories or attachments. I'm not sure what happens. Either the soul rides along with my own or it goes back to its origin. I don't claim to know for sure. I usually choose an infant in a dire situation, an abusive home or an orphan. Using my knowledge, I give the host a better life than they would have had otherwise."

"So...In your estimation, what you do is beneficial for both you and the host?" he asked.

"I always do my best to make it so" I replied.

"Is there pain involved?" he asked hesitantly.

"Only the frustration of retraining a body to do every basic physical task with every change of vessel" I said.

"And we could be together forever?"

"Eternally, or until you destroy your amulet."

"It's a quite a lot to take in. Let's go to bed and I'll make my decision in the morning" he said.

I slept fitfully until finally, exhausted, I dropped into a deep sleep near the morning hours. When I awoke, Aldo was not there. In a panic, I ran out of the bedroom searching for him, afraid I'd frightened him away with the amulet. Much to my relief I found him sitting in the parlor sipping an espresso. I walked over and sat silently next to him on the divan. We sat silently for a long time just sharing each other's warmth, until he turned his beautiful brown eyes to me.

"You know I could never let you go" he said, opening his dressing robe to show me the faintly blue glow of the amulet beneath!

My heart leapt for joy. I now had someone with whom to ride the waves of time!

Venice was so beautiful; we could have stayed there several more years but we grew more and more curious upon hearing stories about India. The people of the Indus valley had their religion they called Sanatana Dharma. In their religion it was said that life was part of a grand cycle of birth, death and rebirth. Everyone was reborn until they were perfected, then their atma or soul would rejoin Brahma. It was intriguing to think of the possibility that we might only be hastening a natural process. So it was that on the morning of the 18th of June, 1528 we set out to sea in search of new adventures. One of Aldo's cousins would watch after the apartments on the Grand Canal until our return.

We sailed the Adriatic and Mediterranean to the coast of Africa, where we hired porters to take us to the Arabic gulf. From there we booked passage on a trade ship to India.

The rocking of the ship on the waves only intensified the rocking of our bodies as we took comfort in one another's arms. The last night of our sea journey, we stood outside holding the rail, taking in the beauty of the light of the moon rippling on the waves. Early in the morning we were awakened by the cabin boy letting us know we were docked and ready to disembark. Stepping onto the dock, the smell of spices was thick. We set about to hire men to take our baggage to the saray or inn where we would be staying.

We followed the men at a distance; ahead we could see the saray. Out of nowhere a man dressed in an orange robe with a read turban approached us. He looked ancient. He reached out and touched us, then recoiled with horror. One of our porters came running back to see what was the problem. The old man spoke rapidly to the young porter who struggled to translate.

"This sadhu say you have some device...not of nature..." he listened again for a bit, "he say you very old...older than he." The old man continued to speak, the younger was at a loss to translate. "He say something...karma...I do not know these words...forgive me." The old man returned to his group, who all eyed us as we walked into the inn. We procured our room and got our belongings settled and decided we would explore the city since it was still quite early in the day.

Everywhere was the scent of sandalwood, jasmine and an underlying odor of garbage. As we approached the city center, we found children playing in the street. When they saw Europeans coming, they flocked around us, begging for a handout. Aldo gave the throng a few local coins and most of them went away, but one boy became our shadow. He appeared to be early in his change to manhood; from his ill-fitting clothing one could tell he had experienced growth spurts recently. His shaggy black hair was a little longer than most of the other boys and he had just a faint layer of hair over his top lip. In the heat of the city the scent of his transitioning manhood became another enticing odor. He told us his name was Ravi. He offered to be our servant; he was a street boy and had no home. He said he would be our guide and porter for food and a place to sleep. Ravi said he could offer us many `services' to make our stay here very enjoyable. Both of us being intrigued by that statement, we agreed to his deal.

Our first task for Ravi was to show us to a place to eat. Off we went through the winding crowded streets until coming to a rather nice street café with small tables in front. When the proprietor saw Ravi, he began to shout and motion for the boy to stop bothering the travelers. I calmed him and told him we had hired the boy as a guide and asked him to bring us all some food. I had no idea what to order so I left that to Ravi. The man looked at me and nodded my approval. After eating the very spicy food and beer, we went back to our sightseeing until Aldo suggested we go back for an afternoon nap. Our intrepid guide took us back to our inn an entirely different way than we had come to this point originally. When we arrived, the innkeeper yelled at our guide and tried to shoo him off until we explained again that we had hired him as our temporary servant. The old man begrudgingly let him pass with us to our room.

It was quite hot here in the early afternoon; when Aldo and I got into the room we began to remove our clothing to get cool. We lay on the bed in just our undergarments. Ravi watched in silence at first, but then in a flash, he doffed his scant clothing and crawled up on the bed between us stark naked. It was at this point I suspected he was older than first appearance. His brown snake was longer than the width of my hand and ended in the point of his nozzle foreskin. Above this long thin penis was a smattering of hair, mostly on the sides but a small trail of hairs went across the top similar in fashion to the hair on his lip. I looked at Aldo, who smiled and shrugged, then we both removed our last coverings as well. Ravi looked in fascination at our manhood. As if moved by sheer instinct, he reached out and wrapped his hand around my shaft and gave it a quick squeeze. It responded by growing in length and girth; Ravi responded by gently pulling the skin back, uncovering the moist head and lightly running his thumb across it.

At this point, Aldo became very interested in the boy's hindquarters. With one hand on each cheek, he pulled them open to display the wrinkled flesh at the center. Ravi had made his morning ablutions in the river and aside from the odor of a young man in heat, he was clean. This prompted Aldo to lean forward and run the tip of his tongue through the gulley and came to rest on the winking orifice. Ravi shook and lowered his hot mouth onto me. Rapidly he bobbed up and down on my phallus as I wiggled myself around under him and enveloped his now erect member which was hugging his stomach. When I pulled the foreskin back, I was hit with the earthy odor of active teen boy; the elixir of life. I buried his member to the hilt in my throat and he attempted to follow suit with mine, but was not able to get it all in without gagging. I rubbed his back to let him know it was all right.

Deeming the boy ready, Aldo rose up to his knees and aimed his projectile at the boy's now gaping hole and dripped his clear fluid onto the orifice. Then he began to slowly push through the slick substance into the furnace of the boy's body. As Aldo pushed forcefully forward, Ravi was suddenly pushed off balance and my cock went all the way into his throat. He looked up at me with wide eyes, then pulled off it only to plunge down again. He managed to perform this act about a dozen times I'd wager before I snapped and began filling his stomach with my juices. When Aldo changed position to go deeper, he must have hit the youngster's love nut because Ravi exploded into my mouth with the sweet juices of one not yet fully a man. As Ravi's hole clamped and clutched around Aldo's cock, Aldo also began to blast his nectar into our new friend until he finally collapsed onto the boy and then both collapsed onto the bed. We all dozed off until early evening.
