Copyright 2010 EJA THE WOLF By EJA Chapter One The mountain range bisected the country for more than two thousand miles and the forest at its base formed a vast bristly beard. Whole communities lived and worked within the forest but the residents could go for years without seeing another living soul, save those of their village. Also within the confines of this forest could be found deep pools that were fed by run-offs from the mountains. These pools would be, for the most part, hidden away from people's eyes and very few ever saw them. There was one pool that was mountain-fed, just like the others. It was deep within the forest but someone had found it. The boy named Davy had discovered it when he was nine. He had gotten lost and had climbed up on a tall spur of rock to see if he could see his village. What he actually found was not only his village--or, at least, the recognisable approach to it--but a shimmering pool that looked inviting in the heat from the afternoon sun. Now that he knew where he was the boy realised he had a couple of hours to spare before his father came home from the fields. So he went for a swim. And that was the start of his love affair with the pool. By the time he was ten, the boy was able to find his way through the Great Forest to it and he would swim and just let the worries of his home life just fade into the background. Just before Davy found the pool his mother passed away. From that moment on, without her to protect him, the boy's life became a nightmare. He was expected to cook his father's dinner, prepare him a breakfast as well as pack a lunch for him to eat while he worked the fields. He was also expected to keep the house clean and tidy as well as care for the lawn outside the cottage. Davy was uneducated but he had a quick and retentive mind. He found he could do complex sums in his head. But his greatest talent was his ability to know what an animal was thinking. He found he could encourage hens to lay eggs, guard dogs to protect the lambs from predators and any other chore the various animals in the village were needed to fulfil. But then life changed for him. He had been coming to the pool for better than three years and, as usual, he was hurrying to reach it. Because of his haste Davy failed to observe the fact that no birds were singing. They had sensed that a predator was nearby. The wolf had been separated from his sire and family for almost as long as Davy had known of the pool. But, for the past year, he had been searching for a mate; someone he could take back to his cave below the tree and make love to. To the wolf he didn't care if this mate turned out to be male or female; he just wanted something he could bury his big cock--all of fifteen inches of it--inside. He found himself on a spur of rock and spotted a pool close to the tree line. Below him was a path that led around the spur and descended toward the forest boundary and the enticing pool. Suddenly his sensitive hearing picked up a wayward sound. He stood rock still and listened intently. Although it had been a few years, he recognised the sound as that of human footsteps coming along the path just below his vantage point. Davy was eager to see his pool and skipped happily along. He passed the rock he had passed many times before and barely gave it a glance. At one time he had climbed atop it to search the terrain for signs of his village but, since then, he'd not bothered with it in the slightest; it merely served as a reminder that his objective was close at hand. Had he been more vigilant he might have heard the wolf's thoughts as the great beast studied the blonde-haired child moving below him. His body was encased in clothing that did nothing to enhance his more natural beauty. But the wolf appreciated his beauty nonetheless. His cock started to swell and began to snake its way out of the protective sheath. Davy reached the water's tiny beach and began to shed his inadequate clothes, throwing them behind him; his need to get in the refreshing liquid was uppermost in his mind and he ignored any stray thoughts that seeped into his mind. In scant minutes Davy was as naked as the day he was born and, without hesitation, he launched himself into the water. The splash could clearly by heard to the wolf hiding nearby; he had moved off the spur and approached the pool along the same path the boy had taken. He took care not to be heard--he was an expert at that--and reached the fringes of the trees a short distance from the water's edge. To his intense pleasure Wolf saw that the boy's clothes were far removed from the small sand bar and that there was ample room for him to stand and intimidate the boy. His cock, still rigid from his lustful thoughts, swayed between his hind legs. Just then an aberrant thought slipped into his mind and made him wonder where it had come from. **Mmm, this water is lovely** it clearly said. Wolf shook his head as if to clear it; he wasn't in any water so it couldn't have been him. And, since there was nothing and no-one else nearby, the wolf concluded that it was the boy who had spoken. But that caused another question to pop into his mind. How could the boy have spoken to him if he didn't know Wolf was there? He was underwater, too, so he couldn't have spoken. The answer came in a blinding flash of intuition. The boy could communicate with animals. This gave the big creature an idea. Maybe he wouldn't need to force the lad to accompany him to his home. A short conversation with a little persuasion might be all that would be necessary to encourage the lad to come back to his lair. Since he didn't want to scare Davy out of his wits and betray his true intent--not that wolves were capable of lying, just evasion--Wolf willed his cock to soften and return to its sheath. He stepped out of the trees and moved toward his objective. Davy had been cavorting like a dolphin, his lithe young frame almost at home in the water than out on dry land. Lost as he was in the euphoria of the cooling liquid, the youth failed to notice that he had a visitor waiting patiently on the shoreline. At twelve years of age Davy had become used to all manner of things in and out of the water. But, when he decided that it was time to return to his duties, he was startled to discover a large wolf was sitting on the sand bar, watching him. The boy gulped audibly but moved purposefully toward the great beast. When he reached the sloping underwater incline that led to the sand bar Davy placed his feet firmly on it and walked out of the water. He sensed that the great creature had no ill-intent toward him so he moved cautiously toward him. But the creature simply barred his way off the bar by remaining where he was; Davy, curious now, stood and stared into the almost hypnotic eyes and found himself being mesmerised by them. **I know you're unhappy,** the wolf told him; he had sensed as much from the thoughts he had read while waiting for the lad to return to dry land. **If you come with me, I will change that,** he promised. Davy was startled; he had heard someone speaking but there was no-one around other than the beast before him. He stared at the wolf. **Are you talking to me?** he asked. **How is this possible?** he continued, receiving an affirmative. **I am as much in the dark about it as you are,** the beast continued. **I can only think that it's a particular talent of yours. I've never come across it in others--others like yourself, I mean,** he added, then went on, **Would you be willing to come with me?** he asked. **Together we could explore this talent of yours and see where it leads us.** **I should get home,** Davy "thought" to the wolf. **My father gets angry if his meals aren't ready on time.** **If you live with me, I would never ask you to do anything you didn't want to do,** the wolf replied. **Your time would belong to you. Will you come?** Davy made up his mind. **I will come,** he acknowledged. **Anything has to be better than what I've been doing these last three years.** Since his mother's death, he meant. The wolf had sensed as much and had played on the boy's unhappiness in order to entice him to his lair where a different fate awaited him. ##To be continued## Not much in the way of sex but that will change with Chapter Two.
