I recently had an interesting conversation that someone thought I had written this story about them. The simple answer is no. This is a work of pure fiction, and perhaps I should have pointed it out during the first chapter. Though I guess I thought the magic and such would give it away. The only somewhat real aspect of the story is name Brody. I actually did borrow it from a character on the soap One Life to Live. However, this is not that Brody. He's all straight and in love with a girl named Gigi. This Brody is all about Anthony.which happens to be my middle name. I know real original on my part. LOL! Other than a mild reflection of my own personality, none of my characters are real. If you enjoy the story please let me know at leoinbama@gmail.com . I'd love to hear from you. : ) Under your Spell Chapter 2 Moon Stuck It was around midnight when we arrived at Brody's house. We were both still wide awake and decided to watch a movie in order to wind down. "Oh I can't watch this part." Brody said closing his eyes. "Don't be a baby. It's just a little foot removal." Despite our already scary evening in the storm, for whatever deranged reason we decided to watch "Saw". "I think we should have watched the second one." Brody said after the credits started rolling. "Yeah, it is way better." I agreed. "The good thing is I'm finally feeling sleepy. Why don't you take the bed, and I'll sleep here on the couch." He offered. "What you only have one bed in this house?" I asked not really wanting him to have to sleep in the living room. "Yeah, the extra bedroom has been used as a den or an office for a while now. It's okay though, the couch isn't so bad." He told me. "Then I won't mind taking the couch then. After all you did for me today; I can't just take your bed." I argued. "You are my guest though. Take the bed." He insisted. "Fine, so where is it exactly?" Brody showed me to his room, and I kissed him good night. I stripped down to my briefs and crawled under the bed sheet on the bed. The bed smelled like Brody, and I never wanted so bad to go and get him off that couch. I knew there would be time for that later though. I usually don't sleep well, but on this night I went out pretty quick. I would like to say I had sweet dreams through the night, but that wasn't exactly the case. I kept seeing a reoccurring dream throughout the night. I was walking all alone through a dark cave, and someone or something was following close behind. I could tell he/she was close, but I couldn't go any faster because I couldn't see where I was going. Every time it almost found me I would wake up. The last time I woke up screaming, and Brody was there in bed with me. "It's okay Anthony. I'm here." Brody said and held me closer to him. "When did you get here?" I asked. "After the first time I heard you scream. I don't know what you've been dreaming about, but it can't be very pleasant." "It's that cave. I don't know why, but I don't think we were alone there." I told him. "I didn't want to say anything then, but while we were at the cave it felt like something was watching us." Brody confessed. "I know there was. I hope I never see that cave again, but I know. I know I will." I said with a weakness in my voice. "You won't have to go alone, if for some reason we go back. I'm going with you." Brody promised and held me to him. I knew better though. Brody wouldn't be with me the next time I went to the cave. Though I also felt it in my gut that he would be the reason I had to go. I brushed it aside as just paranoia. I mean I'm not exactly a super psychic or anything. In my heart though, I felt it was true. Who or what was that thing after me? The morning came and Brody was still holding me. I have to admit I was quickly becoming dependent on that feeling. The good news was I knew I could tell him that and it wouldn't push him away. They say when you meet the right one, you just know it. I was really lucky to have found him. Maybe he found me. "Good morning Brody." I said as I wiggled around enough to wake him. "Mmm, a very good morning having you here with me." Brody said. "I couldn't have said it better myself, but you really have to let me go unless you want to be the proud owner of a water bed." "I know the feeling. You go first, and then I've got to piss too." Brody told me. "I won't be long." I said and I walked to the bathroom that luckily wasn't very far down the hall. "So what do you want for Breakfast?" I asked Brody as he walked out of the bathroom a bit later. "Breakfast, it's probably lunch time by now." Brody responded. "Oh I guess so. I hope I didn't through off your sleep schedule." I said worried. "It's fine! I always sleep late on the weekends. Why don't I fix us a snack for now, and we can eat out this evening?" He offered. "I would love that. Listen, I have to ask. Do you think things are moving too fast for us?" I said. "By the world's standards, yes, we are moving pretty fast. However, I have to tell you that I don't think we could go too fast for me. I've not felt this way about another man in years. I feel like I can really trust you Anthony. Maybe it's because we were friends in school, or maybe it's the whole getting lost in the woods.but yeah. I just want to be around you for as much and as long as I can be." Brody said. "I feel the same way, and I was just afraid to tell you. It seems too good to be true." I said with a smile on my face that I thought was lost from years of bad news and bad situations. "It is true though. We found each other, and I'm not backing away from it. From now on if there's anything on your mind just tell me. I'm not going anywhere, and if I was to go somewhere I'd take you with me." He said and kissed me softly on the lips. The whole thing felt like magic, and in truth there did seem to be some magical forces around us. How else would we have wound up lost in my back yard and find a cave in the middle of a forest, that doesn't even exist. I know my back yard; it doesn't even have the first tree. There's a small set of tiny trees growing in the distance, but nothing like last night's forest. The stream, I never stopped to think about, but there was never one of those either. What kind of force would first create a romantic atmosphere just for us, and then try to trap us in a cave? None of it made sense. "If it was supernatural, which seems to be the only logical situation in this illogical situation, then it would seem there had to be two different forces at work. One that was trying to help us and one that tried to hurt us." Brody offered as we discussed it all at dinner that night. "But why would anyone want to do either? I mean I don't know anyone with any kind of magical powers like that, do you?" I asked. "I'm not even sure I believe in magic, but something funny was going on for sure. I have to say I don't think it's over either." "Why's that?" I asked. "Look over there. The moon is full. I looked at my calendar just this morning. The next full moon isn't supposed to be here till next weekend." Our conversation was cut short when the waitress brought our food. "I love full moons; I feel more at ease when I seem them. So that could be good right?" I asked after the waitress had left. "I suppose so. However, it is a bit strange." Brody said. "Maybe you just looked at the calendar wrong?" I asked even though I was sure he was right. "I don't think so. I was planning to go for a walk with you next weekend. It seemed like it would be kind of nice." He said. "Wait, maybe someone was thinking the same thing. Like to lure us back into that forest?" I suggested. "It could be, but wouldn't that only happen if we walked at your place?" He asked. "Maybe, but not necessarily. I don't think we are dealing with any absolutes here. I think we should be ready for anything at this point." I said, though for whatever reason I didn't feel all that worried. I think it was the company. "I'm sure everything will be fine. I don't want you to worry about it, dear." Brody said. "I'm not. I know whatever happens next we'll make it through together." I said and I held Brody's hand under the table. As we were finishing our meal I couldn't help to feel like someone was watching us. Brody went to pay the check, and I went to the restroom. I went into the stall and closed the door behind me. After I emptied my bladder I fastened my pants back, and started to open the door when I heard something.a voice. Very quietly speaking. ".won't get away with this." Then there was a pause. "Won't know what hit..." I quickly threw the door open of the stall and looked for the source of the voice, but no one was there. I looked up and there was a shadow on the ceiling for just a moment, but it was gone before I could really look. It could have been anything, or nothing. I walked out to find Brody was waiting for me. We walked to his truck, and as I was getting inside I felt someone rush by me. "Did you see someone run by just now?" I asked Brody. "No, but I heard something. I don't like it." Brody told me. "Me neither. Let's get going." Things seemed to normalize over the next few days. We didn't see or hear anything else strange, save for one fact-the moon was still full. We weren't the only one's noticing it either. The news coverage was everywhere. Speculation was rampant, but the fact is the moon cycles had come to a halt in our area anyway. The rest of the world seemed to be unaffected, and that lead me to believe there was more to the story. I spent most evenings at Brody's house, as neither of us really felt safe at my place. It was a fear that only time would remove. It wouldn't be till the weekend that things really went strange again. We decided to go visit with my cousin Daniel. He lived outside of town somewhat far into the boonies if you will. We spent most of the evening at his house. "So you guys got lost in a forest?" Daniel asked. "Yeah, it was really strange." Brody said. "Really strange, are you guys taking drugs? Because you know it's always nice to share?" Daniel said. "Listen I know what you're thinking. You know as well as we do, that there isn't a forest behind my house, but there was last weekend." I told him. "Well, if you two don't want to share that's fine, but just don't over do it." It was pretty clear that my cousin wasn't ready to believe us. "Well I think we should head out before it gets any darker. It was really nice to see you again Daniel." Brody said. "I hope you will stick around. I think you might be good for Anthony." Daniel said. "He is. We'll see you again soon man." I said and hugged my cousin before we left. We left and a few turns later we took a small dirt rode that we both knew would take us back to the main highway in our town. However we had been going down the rode for a solid hour or more. We were lost. "I know this rode ends up on Highway 5." Brody said to himself as much as to me. "I know really, but this doesn't look familiar at all to me now. Maybe we should stop if we see a house and ask for directions. It's getting kind of late, and I know you have to work tomorrow." I said. "That would be a good plan, but I haven't seen anything for miles now. In fact look up ahead; the road is.it's disappearing." Brody pulled the truck off the road and parked. We got out of the truck and stared up at the moon. We both saw it right away. There was a shadow over the moon. and it was moving down towards us at a fast pace. "We've got to move!" I screamed and we jumped back into the truck and Brody tried to crank it. It wouldn't start. Soon we heard a thud as something hit the ground in front of the truck. I saw someone in the dark. "Brody get us out of here!" I said and clapped my hands together. Suddenly we were back on the road driving, and we made it to HWY 5. I wasn't sure what to say after that, but Brody said it for me. "You did that somehow. When you clapped your hands, poof, we were back where we should have been all along." Brody said. "But how could I have done that?" I asked. "I don't know, but I'm just glad you did. Whatever that was in the dark, it was bad. It fell all that distance and still got up." Brody said. "It didn't fall it was flying." "But it looked human, and humans don't fly." Brody said. "It wasn't human Brody. I think we both felt that." "Yeah, you can say that again. I don't want to say what it felt like." Brody responded. "No, I think we should wait till daylight to talk about this anymore. I just want to go back to our place and rest." I realized what I said and blushed. "No place like home babe." Brody said and drove to his house. To be continued. Well, hopefully I kept you entertained so far. Do you think you have it figured out? Who or what is after them? If you want to take a guess I'd be happy to artfully doge all of them, and graciously thank you for reading my story.
