Billy despised this whole idea from the minute it was brought up several months before. His father had been given a job offer in this little town that would apparently pay him almost twice the amount he was making before, so like any money-craving idiot, he accepted the job offer. His parents attempted to sugarcoat the fact that Billy would be leaving his friends, his school, and everything else he held dear back in Memphis, Tennessee by bribing him with promises of nicer and more expensive personal possessions like any other great parent trying to shut their kids up would do. Fortunately though, Billy was determined that he was never going to bite the bate. No matter what they did to make this move seem better, he was going to give them hell for making him leave the only place that he was happy. "You know, Billy, the new school that you'll be going to has a very good soccer team," Billy's dad said trying to sound sensitive and caring even though he was a three hundred pound muscleman who preferred to be called Big Jake as opposed to Dad just because of how big of a fan he was of old John Wayne movies. "Great, Dad," Billy said to his dad. "I'll give it some thought." "Honey, they also have a swim team if you wanna give it a try," Joanne Newman, Billy's mom, suggested. "I suck at swimming," Billy said with one eyebrow raised. "Well, you could always learn," Joanne said. "There's no harm in that." "Yeah, I guess," Billy said unenthusiastically. "Dad, watch out for that bump in the road." "Everything's okay, Billy," Joanne said. "We're almost there." A few minutes later, Jake pulled onto a street close to the end of town where the fields, forests, and hills were right behind the houses. Jake began to slow down and then made a turn into a driveway. "Well guys, here we are," Jake said to his wife and kids as he pulled up into the driveway of the new house. Billy looked out through the window at the old fashioned two-story Victorian style house. The house did actually look somewhat adequate to live in, even a bit cozy in ways, but Billy wasn't about to let on to his parents that he was thinking something like that. As Billy was stepping out of the car, Cody charged out of the same door nearly tripping his older brother. Cody excitedly ran through the front yard starting in on how he and Billy could play soccer there because of how large it was. Billy was about ready to punch the little boy for almost tripping him, but decided to let it pass as he was curious to what the rest of the house was like. He followed his parents inside the house and automatically began to venture through the different rooms on the first floor making sure to appoint quick judgments to himself over every little thing knowing his parents would never decide to move back to Memphis. He realized he was being stubborn and recalcitrant, but he couldn't see himself just lightening up to the whole idea of moving to this small nothing town and never being able to hang out with his best friends ever again. He didn't even want to think about how everything would turn out once school started and he would be considered the new kid. "So, what do you think, big guy?" Jake asked. Billy just stayed silent with his arms crossed as if he was giving his dad the silent treatment for forcing him to move out here. "Ooookay then," Jake said animatedly. "How's about you go up and check out your new room? It's the third door on the left in the main hallway." "Yeah sure, why not?" Billy said. With that, Billy slowly headed up the creaky wooden stairs to go look at his new room. When he made it to the second floor, he glanced into the other rooms as he passed by them. So far, Billy was fairly overcome by the appearance of the house. There was no way he would admit it, but he was beginning to think that maybe this wouldn't be such a bad house to have to live in. When he reached the third door on the left, he opened the door to his new bedroom. Billy was completely astonished at the size of his new room. He walked in and wondered if he had enough furniture to cover the area. He looked over to the side of the room and there were two doors. He went and opened one door which was the door to his new walk-in closet. He knew for sure he didn't have as many clothes as it would take to fill up this whole closet, but it was cool that he had this much space. He shut the door and opened the next one right beside the closet door. Bewilderment came over him as he gazed at his new and very own bathroom that had a huge window overlooking the fields and tree-covered hills behind the house. As he gawked at the bathroom and bedroom, he thought maybe it wouldn't be so bad living in this house. As he walked back into the bedroom, his dad came in from the hallway holding two boxes that blocked his face. "Billy?" Jake said. "Billy, you in here?" "Right here, Dad," Billy said. "Ah, couldn't see ya," Jake said as he put the boxes down. "So what do you think of your new room?" "It's actually pretty nice," Billy said. "Oh finally; a positive comment," Jake said. "I have my own bathroom," Billy said. "Yeah, I thought you should get this room," Jake said. "This room was the last owners' playroom for their kids and I thought it would be nice for you to have this as your bedroom since it's so big." "I don't even think I have enough to put in here," Billy said. "Well, we can get you some new stuff once we've got everything unpacked," Jake said. "Maybe we can put a small couch in here. Maybe even a nice entertainment center to go over on that wall. And here's another crazy thought. Maybe we can even put a new TV and VCR on that entertainment center." "You're trying to bribe me, huh Dad," Billy said. "A little bit," Jake said. "Is it working at all?" "A little bit," Billy said. "Good, then my plan was a success," Jake said. "Tell you what, how about you come and help me and your mom tell the movers where we want everything and I'll give my evil victory laugh afterwards over a nice family supper at the nearest McDonalds?" "Sounds good to me, Dad," Billy said. "Good, and don't call me Dad anymore," Jake said. "Call me Big Jake like all the other cool kids do." "That never caught on in Memphis, Dad," Billy said. "What makes you think it's gonna catch on here?" "Well, Minnesota's a different kind of planet, Billy," Jake said. "We'll see if it doesn't catch on eventually." With that, Billy and his dad headed downstairs with Joanne and Cody as the movers began moving furniture in the house. Billy still wasn't very happy that he had to be here instead of being back in Memphis with his friends, but at least the new house was nice enough to make this move seem a little brighter. __________________ Andy McKinney rode quickly down the street on his bike along with the rest of the Twelve Pack, which was the group he had been a part of since they all formed it together in the kindergarten. No one was allowed to join or leave the group and they were more or less considered the bullies at school who always picked on the nerds, geeks, girly boys, and new kids. Andy was second in command of the group directly under the deeply feared and respected leader, Brett Ellsworth, whose older brother had gone to jail at sixteen years old the year before for brutally beating up another classmate enough that he had to be sent to the hospital for over three weeks. Brett was a very muscular twelve year old who was known to have the ability of beating up anyone who crossed his path. He was also known for beating up the other members of the Twelve Pack who did anything to hack him off. Even though Andy was second in command of the group, he was absolutely nothing like Brett in the way that he wasn't violent and he was in no way muscular and feared of by all the kids and some of the teachers in school. In fact, there were only five kids in the whole including Brett who really had any kind of physical power. Andy was more or less the brains of the group. He and the other boys who had no physical power like Brett always constructed the plans for how to prank the teachers or how to lure their victims into traps. Andy had never felt very good about himself for the things he had sometimes done to torture those sorts of kids in school, but he had been doing it for over seven years now, so it was his life. Brett had always labeled Andy as his best friend and companion, which was why he was second in command in the group. They had met in daycare when they were three years old and they had been friends ever since. Andy was the only boy in the whole group who hadn't been beaten up by Brett at least once. The most that Brett ever did to Andy was push him down on the ground after a plan of his went horribly wrong resulting in two weeks of after-school detention, but Andy had never even been in a physical fight before. As all twelve of them rode their bikes, they could see the moving truck next to the Billman house. When they were about four houses away from the new families' house, they stopped and watched as the movers were carrying furniture and boxes inside. They had heard that another family was moving in, which was significant for two reasons. One reason was that they knew there was a boy in that family their age, which meant a new kid to torture; the second reason was that Andy's grandmother lived next door to that house, so that meant Andy could watch him on weekends when he had to spend the nights there while his parents were out on weekly business trips to St. Paul. Andy constructed this plan so that he would be able to map out this new boy's weaknesses without actually having to meet him. This way Brett would be able to start his ritual new kid torture by the time school was in session for the new year. "Hehe, well, what do we have here?" Brett asked. "Does anyone see the new kid?" "I don't see him," Andy said. "Oh well," Brett gave up. "Alright girls, we're going to the TPF. We got some planning and devising to do." Everyone agreed to the command considering they didn't have many choices in the matter and then headed off the opposite way down the street towards the forest that was right outside of town. It was a one mile ride to the forest and then another two miles following the forest's dirt bike trails until they dead ended into a large dirt campsite that sat next to the Black Maple River. At that campsite, the gang got off their bikes, tied them up to a few trees, and then crossed a huge log that had fallen over the creek years before the boys were even born. Andy had always speculated that the log would eventually rot into nothing but river mulch while they were walking across it, but even years after it had fallen, the dead log was still as sturdy as the Golden Gate Bridge. When they got across the log, they followed another dirt trail that they had made themselves when they were looking for the perfect spot for their fort five years before then. The trail followed the river for about half a mile until they came to a spot where the trail stopped and the river calmed down and the sounds were peaceful. When they made it to that spot, they knew they were close. The next course was crossing the river again using natural boulders that stuck out above the surface of the calm water. Before they prepared to cross the river again, Brett stopped right next to the river as he usually did to call role of the members. "Alright guys, you know the drill," Brett said. "I call your name, you say here. I'll start with me. Here! Okay, Andy?" "Here," Andy said. "Owen." "Here," Owen said. "Gus." "I'm here," Gus said. "Bootsie." "Yeppers," Bootsie replied. "Darrel." "Here," Darrel said. "Otis." "Here physically, but I'm not too sure if I'm really here, you know?" Otis said. "I mean, is anyone really here?" "Shut up, Otis," Brett said. "Ivan?" "Here," Ivan said as he raised his hand. "Alright, this is boring already," Brett said. "JJ, DJ, Edgar, and Lil Davey, are ya'll here? Raise your hands." The last four boys raised their hands and when Brett acknowledged them, they all put their hands down except for Davey who was Owen's little brother. "Umm, Brett, I have a request to make," Davey said. All the boys in the group were the same age except for Davey who was a year younger than everyone. He had always hung around Owen like any pesty little brother who was only a year younger when the boys were all five and he was four, so he ended up getting the twelfth position in the gang to make the numbers even and so the name would make sense. Brett had always picked on him the most just because he was the smallest and most vulnerable member of the whole gang. "What Davey?" Brett asked impatiently. "Umm, I, uh, I was wondering if maybe I could, uh, skip the meeting today," Davey said which even caught his brother's attention. Brett gave him a weird look. "Why the hell do you wanna skip the meeting?" Brett asked. "Well, umm, these're new jeans I'm wearing and, uh, my mom told me that she's slap me bolt-legged if I got them all messed up," Davey explained. "So, would it be okay if I don't cross the river and just head on back?" Brett looked at him angrily and silently for a few seconds. Davey began to show a fearful expression on his face as Brett just stared at him that way. Owen felt like such a horrible brother in situations like this when he couldn't do anything to help his little brother against Brett and he knew it. All of a sudden, Brett quickly walked over to Davey and stood about four inches away from his face. "Do I look like I have stupid written across my forehead?" Brett asked. "Umm, no, but I-" Davey said. "Don't you talk when I'm talking to you, boy," Brett demanded. "Answer this question for me, will ya? What was it that I said about meetings not even six months ago? Tell me that, will ya?" Davey looked over at Owen for help, but Owen just shook his head and shrugged sympathetically. He knew there was nothing he could do about Brett. He was much stronger than him and if he wanted to, he could take Owen and Davey down at the same time without even having to tense a muscle. "Don't look over at him," Brett said. "Answer my question, now." Andy watched in horror as Davey was racking his brain for the answer to the question. He knew that Brett was going to do something bad to Davey no matter what answer he gave and he realized that Davey knew that as well. He though about something he could do to stop Brett from doing anything to the boy, but he couldn't think of anything. "Alright, then let me help you out," Brett said. "I told ya'll that if anyone missed a meeting, they would get the living shit beat out of them. I told ya'll that if you even asked me to skip a meeting, you'd get what's coming to you." "Please Brett, don't beat me up," Davey begged. "Not again." "Fine, I won't beat you up," Brett said. "Take those jeans off now and give them to me." "What?" Davey asked. "What're you, deaf?" Brett asked. "I said take your pants off and give the jeans to me. Now." "Owen," Davey pleaded for help. "Davey, there's nothing I can-" Owen started. "Owen! You don't talk, got it?" Brett demanded. "Brett," Andy called out from behind. "What!?" Brett asked impatiently. "C'mon man, don't make him do that," Andy said. "You know how shy he gets in situations like that." "Shut up, Andy!" Brett ordered. "You fuck with me, I go for weaknesses and you know that more than anyone. Now, I told Davey to take his pants off and give them to me and he doesn't start unzipping very shortly, I'll beat him up with a fucking tree limb. Anyone else wanna bitch about this?" There was complete silence in the group. Everyone had something they wanted to say to Brett except for Otis, JJ, Gus, and Darrel who were the tough boys like Brett. The others though wanted to stop Brett from making the younger boy do this, but they knew they stood no chance in winning against their leader. "It's okay, Davey," Owen said. "Just do it." Davey had a scared look on his face as he stared at his brother and over at Andy who was ready to scream about now. Realizing that he had no options at all, Davey began to undo his jeans. He unbuttoned and unzipped them exposing the front of his small, white Jockey briefs. He slipped his shoes off and then he pulled his jeans down his hairless legs and off and then slowly handed them to Brett as he stood there in nothing but his t-shirt and underwear. "Bootsie, dip these in that mud hole over there," Brett said handing the jeans to Bootsie, another boy who was like Brett. "Brett, c'mon man," Owen said. "You shut the hell up," Brett said. "You fuck with me, you face the consequences. That's how it goes." "But man, he's gonna get hided if those jeans get muddy," Owen said. "Not my problem," Brett said simply. "Bootsie, what're you waiting for?" With that, Bootsie took the jeans and walked over to the mud hole Brett pointed him to. When he made it there, he slammed the new blue jeans into the mud as hard as he could and then picked them back up. Davey started to cry silently when he saw the jeans all muddy. He knew he would get punished by his dad later on for this. When Brett saw him crying, he walked over to Davey and vigorously grabbed him by the shirt with his left hand almost picking him up off the ground. "Are you crying!?" Brett asked. Davey didn't answer. Instead, he began to cry harder. He knew he was probably about to get beat up by Brett and then get beat by his dad later that evening. He had no idea what to do or what to say. "Alright, don't answer," Brett said. All of a sudden, Brett grabbed the waistband of Davey's briefs and quickly pulled them down to his knees exposing his small, flaccid, prepubescent penis to everyone. As Davey's most private parts were being displayed in front of all of his friends, he cried harder knowing he wasn't getting out of this until Brett was finished with him. Owen looked over at Andy for some kind of support, but Andy just shrugged again signaling that there was nothing he could do to stop Brett. "Brett, no, Brett, please!" Davey begged as he still cried. With that, Brett forcefully grabbed Davey's small testicles with his bare hand and squeezed them hard enough to make Davey start gasping. The smaller boy felt weak in the knees and fell to his knees on the ground. Brett kept his tight grip on the boy's balls and began talking. "Now, does anyone else have something to say?" Brett asked. There was total silence among everyone as Brett stood there bending over towards a crying Davey and clutching the boy's balls firmly. "Alright then, this is what happens when you decide you wanna miss a meeting," Brett said. "This is a fucking brotherhood for Christ's sakes! We signed that TPF contract in blood six years ago. No one, and I mean no one will break the rules in that contract, or you'll go through a similar torture as this. How's your balls by the way, buddy? I bet they hurt, huh." "Brett^Åplease," Davey said so quietly that he was barely audible. "What was that?" Brett asked. "I don't think anyone heard you." "Please Brett^Ålet^Ågo^Åplease," Davey begged quietly as he cried. Owen watched in horror as his little brother was being tormented this way by Brett. He wanted to help him, but he knew there was nothing he could do. Andy stared at Davey as his balls were practically being crushed and thought about how horrible it would be to be in that position right now. He looked up at Brett who was still trying to get Davey to talk. "Brett!" Andy called out. Brett looked over at him impatiently. "Don't you think Davey's had enough now?" Andy asked. "He's had enough when I say he's had enough," Brett said. "Brett, maybe I didn't make myself clear," Andy kept on. "Let him go now, or I'll skip the meeting." Andy didn't like using his friendship with Brett to his advantage like this, but he knew that Brett would never do anything like that to him, so he had more power to get Brett to stop than any of the others. Brett stared at Andy silently still gripping Davey's aching testicles. Andy just gave him a cold stare that would stop traffic as if demanding him to let the boy go. Suddenly, Brett took his hand off the boy's balls and then just pushed him to the ground with his underwear still down around his knees. Brett walked quickly towards Andy and just passed him. He stopped a few yards passed Andy and just stared off into the woods with his arms crossed looking as if he had been beaten by Andy. Owen and Andy went over to Davey and helped him get up. Owen looked at his brother's testicles to make sure he wasn't bleeding or anything and then helped him get his underwear back up. Bootsie rinsed the boy's jeans off in the river as best as he could to get the mud out and then rung them out so they wouldn't be completely soaked when Davey put them back on. He gave the jeans to Owen and he helped his little brother put them on. "Andy, can I take him home and get him cleaned up?" Owen asked. "Maybe I can get these pants washed before our parents get home." "Yeah, you two can skip the meeting for today," Andy said. "Everyone else, go ahead to the fort." With that, the other boys crossed the river to the fort while Owen was helping Davey up so they could get going. Andy looked behind him and Brett was still standing there silently. "Make sure he gets some rest when you get home," Andy told Owen. "I will," Owen said. "I'll call you tonight, okay?" "Alright, bud," Andy said. "Davey, I'm sorry for everything, okay?" Davey just shook his head as Owen grabbed his hand and began to walk away with him. When they were out of sight, Andy turned around to face Brett who was still facing the opposite direction. Andy was always the only person in the group who had any power over Brett, but after he did something like that, Brett would always become distant and quiet. "Brett," Andy called after him. "Brett." The bulky boy just stayed silent and facing the opposite direction. "You know I had to do it, Brett," Andy said. "You can't keep going after Davey like that. He's little and he's very shy and today, you too advantage of his size and embarrassed him beyond emotional scarring. That poor boy has enough to deal with at home with his parents and you just keep making his life even more of a living hell. How can you do that?" "You know what, Andy? Shut the fuck up!" Brett said as he turned around to face Andy again. "I am the leader here. I make all the decisions. Not you. I don't care if we're best friends or not; you don't override my decisions in this group by telling me what to do." "Tell you what to do? Brett, you were crushing an eleven year old boy's balls. A boy who's three times smaller than you and over a year younger than you. I had plenty of right to do what I did." "Whatever, Andy, if you do anything like that again, then you'll be the one getting your balls crushed," Brett threatened as he walked away towards the river. With that, Andy just rolled his eyes and followed Brett to the river. They crossed the river using the boulders in the water and then headed up the ladder to their treehouse that they had been using as their fort for the last seven years. The other boys were already inside the huge treehouse waiting for Andy and Brett to arrive. When they did, the meeting was in session and they were going to discuss how to handle the new kid in town. __________________ Sure enough, Billy was right when he said that there would still be a lot of room left in his bedroom even after all the furniture was in. All of his furniture, boxes, and clothes were already in his new room and he had all the furniture placed where he wanted it. He was now ready to start unpacking the boxes. He opened the first box that said "Billy's room" on it and he pulled out a picture. When he looked at it, he automatically became depressed again. He sat on his bed and stared at the old picture of him and his three best friends Eric, Joe, and Bradley. It was a professional picture that all their parents chipped in to have taken. The four of the boys were posing with their arms wrapped around each other's shoulders and they were standing next to a huge white stone fountain with green trees all around it. Billy thought back to that day and how happy the four of them were back then. He remembered how they didn't really want the picture taken, but their parents forced them to take it. Billy felt a lump form in his throat again as he thought about his friends. He missed them more than anything in the world. He rubbed his finger over the image of his best friend Eric thinking back to the times he had with him and how different things were now after everything that happened. Just as he felt a tear fall down his cheek, his mom walked in with a knock on the open door. "Billy, we're about to go out and-" Joanne stopped talking when she saw him sitting on the bed looking at the picture ready to burst into tears. Instead of saying anything else, Joanne went and sat next to her son and wrapped her arms around him. He hugged her back as more tears began to fall. He remained strong and didn't fully cry, but he wanted to. Joanne knew how hard this was for him. The friends of his in that picture that he had left behind were like brothers to him and they had all known each other their entire lives. On top of that, after everything that happened with the four of them recently, everything was harder all the more for everyone. "Honey, I know you miss them a lot, but I promise you that before school starts, we'll go back to Memphis to see Bradley and Joe," Joanne said. "It's not the same though, Mom," Billy complained. "They're gonna go off and get lives of their own without me and it won't be the same anymore." "Oh Billy, sweetheart, they're your best friends," Joanne said. "They're never gonna exclude you from their lives just because you left. Sure, not everything will be like it was before, but it was going to be like that even if we didn't move. You know that. You also know that Bradley and Joe will always have a special place for you in their lives." "How do you know that?" Billy asked. "Baby, I know more than anyone the pain of leaving best friends behind because of parents," Joanne said. "When I was a girl, my dad was constantly being moved from one state to another because of his job in the Air Force. I was always making new best friends and then leaving them behind before I knew it. It was hard, but I managed to stay in touch with all my friends from the past and now I have a good group of friends in pretty much every state in the US." "Even here?" Billy asked. "Well, I know a man in Minnesota, but that town's about two hours from here," Joanne said. "But I'll make new friends here in Black Maple too. That's just how life is, sweetie. Change is all the time and memories of the old days are what makes you the person you are." "Yeah, I guess," Billy said. "Look, we're about to go out for supper," Joanne said. "After that, we're gonna go buy some new stuff for the house. Also stuff for your room and bathroom. How's that sound to you?" "Okay," Billy said. With that, Joanne hugged the boy tightly and then the two of them headed off together downstairs where Jake and Cody were waiting for them. The four of them left the house and drove to the nearest McDonalds which was next to the undersized town mall. After eating supper together, they went to the mall to look around for new furniture to put in Billy's bedroom and in some other parts of the house that needed extra furniture. Billy picked out a new wooden black mattress futon, a humongous, stained, wooden, entertainment center with a nice writing desk attached to the end of it, a comfy black cloth chair to go with the desk, and then he picked out a new television set that would fit the entertainment center. His dad bought all of it without any hesitation, which left Billy wondering why he was being so generous. Later on after everything was bought and arranged to be delivered the next day, the four of them went to the second level of the mall to the toy store where Cody could look around for some new toys. While Jake was walking with Cody through the small toy store, Joanne and Billy stayed right outside the small store sitting on a wooden bench side by side and waiting for Cody to pick out his toys so they could go back home. "Mom, can I ask you something?" Billy asked. "Anything, sweetie," Joanne said. "Why'd Dad buy all that stuff just for me?" Billy asked curiously. "Because you needed the extra furniture," Joanne said simply. "Okay, but why did he pay that much money for all of it?" Billy asked. "I mean, he never would've done something like that in Memphis." "Well, I imagine there's several reasons behind it," Joanne said. "I think he's excited that he'll be making so much more money than before; that's one reason. But I think there's also a part of him that just wants to make sure that you're happy again." "He still blames himself for everything, doesn't he," Billy stated. Joanne became very silent as she pondered the statement made by Billy. "Well, maybe he does a little bit," Joanne said. "He thinks he could've done something different, but I keep telling him that it probably would've happened no matter what. He doesn't believe in stuff like that though." Billy thought about that for a minute silently. He stared at his mom not being able to form any words. He realized and understood why his dad felt the way he did, but he couldn't manage to say anything. When he was about to say something unimportant, Cody and Jack existed the toy store and met up with them carrying three bags full of new toys for Cody. With that, the four of them left the mall and headed home for the night. __________________ Andy usually hated Friday nights such as this one because it was typically just he and his grandmother there and he was never allowed to have more than one friend over at a time. But tonight was different though. He actually had something of importance to do this night. He had been instructed for the night to watch the new boy until he went to bed and try to figure out his weaknesses. While the new family went out that evening, Andy slyly scoped the area looking in through the windows to try and figure out who's bedroom was who's. When he figured out that the older boy's bedroom window could be seen through from the top of his grandmother's large maple tree in the backyard, he felt lucky. He knew that he would be able to spy through the side windows of the boy's bedroom and bathroom without the boy ever noticing he was there. He looked at his watch and speculated that the family would probably be arriving home soon considering it was starting to get late. He made sure his grandmother thought he was already in bed, he grabbed his small binoculars from his duffel bag, and then snuck out into the backyard. He climbed the tree and made himself comfortable with his spying binoculars hanging around his neck and waited for the family to arrive home. He only waited for a few minutes until, finally, the new family's car pulled into the driveway. Andy got his binoculars ready for spying and stayed quiet. __________________ When Billy and his family made it inside the house, he said goodnight to his parents and headed upstairs to his new bedroom to take a shower and get ready for bed. He still hadn't put the sheets and blankets on the bed yet, so he still had to do that before going to bed. When he made it to his room, he closed the door and locked it. Afterwards, he walked to his closet to hang up his clothes and get ready for his shower. He started by taking off his shirt and hanging it up inside his closet. Next, he began to strip his jean shorts off. __________________ Andy watched the boy as he dropped his shorts and hung them up standing there in nothing but his white briefs. Andy looked over his nicely tanned and thin body with the binoculars thinking he was about to start drooling. As that thought entered his mind, he began to winder why he was feeling that way. He decided to think about that later though. He was on a mission right now, so he couldn't let anything distract him. He watched as the boy grabbed a clean pair of briefs and headed into his bathroom. Andy positioned himself in the tree in a way that he could watch through the large window in the bathroom and see almost everything that the boy was doing in there from just below the waist and up. He watched as the boy removed a towel from a cabinet that hung over the sink and laid it down on something that Andy couldn't see. He just figured it was a small table or something that he could grab the towel easily when he was finished showering. The boy stopped moving around and then just stood in front of the large mirror above the sink staring at himself. This was the first time Andy was able to get a really good look at his face. He was a beautiful boy. He had longish blond hair that was styled very much like most of the other boys' hair in the early eighties. From what Andy could see, the boy had bluish eyes and his lips were very smooth and light reddish in color. It was as if he had natural lipstick, which enhanced the features of his smooth, perfect face. Andy noticed something strange on the boy's chest. He looked down at the boy's chest and observed a bizarre vertical mark that looked like a straight line. It seemed to be not more than a few inches in length, the line was as straight as a razor blade, and it was pinkish in comparison to the surrounding skin on his chest. "Oh my god," Andy said to no one in particular. "It's a scar." __________________ Billy stared at the long scar on his chest and wondered if it would ever go away. He knew this was why his dad was being so nice to him lately. There was nothing else that could explain his strange behaviors. Usually, his dad was the type that really had nothing to do with his kids. He would come in from work every day, grab a beer, and just sit in front of the TV without so much as a hello to him and Cody who were sitting right there the whole time. Then all of a sudden, the tragedy happened and his dad was all there and completely alert to the facts. The past several months had been the hardest times of Billy's entire life and he knew he still had a long road to recover ahead of him. Deciding to stop thinking about everything, Billy slipped off his white cotton underwear and jumped into the hot shower, which felt so good at first contact. __________________ Andy tried to get a glimpse of the boy's private parts as he took his tighty whities off to get in the shower, but the boy moved in a way that Andy couldn't see anything. He only caught a small glance of the boy's upper backside as he stepped over the side of the tub into the shower. Andy felt himself getting hard as he watched the boy step into the shower, but then he was out of sight behind the shower curtain. He thought back to that scar on the boy's chest and wondered how in the world he got it and if there was a story behind it. Andy didn't know why, but for some reason, he felt differently about this new boy. He hadn't even met him in person yet, but somehow, it was as if he had really known him for years. __________________ A few minutes later, Billy finished up with his shower, turned the water off, and grabbed the towel off the small, decorative table in the bathroom to dry himself off. When he had soaked up most of the water on his body, he wrapped the towel around his waist and carefully stepped out of the shower onto the cold, tile floor. He picked up the clean pair of white briefs that he laid on the small table with the towel and put them on with the towel still around his waist. After his underwear was on, he took the towel off and then dried his wet hair as best as he could. Deciding that his hair was dry enough, he dropped the towel on the floor along with his last pair of briefs that he took off before the shower and he combed his hair in the style that he always wore it so it would completely dry like that. After he brushed his hair, brushed his teeth, and washed his face, he walked back into his bedroom only wearing his tighty whities and went to his closet. He picked out a long t-shirt that was his dad's at one point and slipped in on over his body. He always slept wearing that long shirt and underwear and that was it. When he had the shirt on, he grabbed his bed sheets and began to stretch them on over the mattress. He was having difficulty with the bottom right corner of the mattress getting the sheet to stay on, so he got on the bed and crawled over towards it to try to straighten it out by hand. As he crawled towards the corner of the mattress, he happened to look outside the window, turn his head away, and then quickly looked back outside in the tree that sat right outside his window in the neighbor's backyard. He squinted his eyes as if that would give him a closer look, but then he was sure of what he was seeing when he noticed a pair of binoculars. Billy's eyes widened and his jaw dropped when he could clearly see a boy sitting on the tree spying on him. He saw the boy put down his binoculars obviously stunned that he was caught spying, and he started quickly climbing down the tree. Billy hastily opened the window. "Hey!!!" Billy called out. "You get back here!!! You-" He stopped yelling and closed the window again. He grabbed a pair of shorts out of his drawer, put them on, slipped his tennis shoes on, and ran out of his room and down the stairs as fast and as quietly as he could. He was determined to catch that boy and find out why exactly he was spying on him through the window. __________________ Andy was scared to death. He couldn't believe he had already been caught spying on the boy. He was trying to climb down the tree as fast as he could and then his shoe got stuck between a couple of limbs. He yanked his shoe as hard as he could to try to loosen it, but it was really stuck. "Hey!!!" the boy called out. "You get back here!!! You-" Andy looked up and noticed that the boy was out of sight. He just knew that the boy was about to come down and catch him. "Shit," Andy said. He yanked even harder on his shoe and shook the limbs as vigorously as he could to loosen his shoe, but it wasn't working. Finally, he untied his shoe and slipped his foot out of it. Afterwards, he climbed down the tree the rest of the way and began running towards the street. About that time, he heard the door to the boy's house open and he saw the boy running towards his house. Andy made it to the sidewalk and began running with everything he had in him. "Hey!!!" the boy yelled. "Stop right there, asshole!!!" Andy ran as fast as he could, but he could tell the boy was gaining up on him quickly. This boy could run fast. It was as if he had done this before. Andy made a sharp turn into the woods where he was sure he could lose the boy. He began to circle around the trees and run through the bushes as much as possible to try to get the boy off his tracks, but it still wasn't working. The boy was too close behind him. Andy leaped as far as he could into a bunch of bushes and then crawled through them. There were so many bushes that there was no way the boy would be able to see where he was. When Andy finally made it to the other side of the bushes, he stood up and looked around for the boy. It seemed that the coast was clear, so he began to head hack towards the road. As he walked, he looked around for the boy and couldn't see him when all of a sudden, he was jumped from behind and knocked to the ground forcefully. He landed on his back on the ground really hard and there was the boy right over him breathing really hard. "Alright man, what the hell were you spying on me for?" the boy asked. "Wouldn't you like to know," Andy said. "Maybe I didn't make myself clear," the boy said right before he slammed his hands down on his shoulders as hard as he could causing Andy to gasp in pain. "Ow!!!! Shit!!!!" Andy yelped. "Now, you got something you wanna tell me?" the boy asked. __________________ "So, this Twelve Pack of yours just beats up every new kid and tortures them daily?" Billy asked. "Yeah," Andy said simply. "And you're second in command of this whole operation?" Billy asked. "Yeah," Andy said again. "And you were spying on me to learn my weaknesses?" Billy asked. "Umm, yeah," Andy said. "And if you don't learn my weaknesses, this guy Brett will probably beat you up for it?" Billy asked. "Yeah," Andy said. "Okay, do you ever say `no' to anything?" Billy asked smartly. "Uh^Åyeah," Andy said. "Look, I'm sorry that I was spying on you like that. I didn't exactly pick the best time to do so, huh." "Not exactly," Billy said. "Do you always spy on your victims when they're walking around in their underwear and - wait, did you watch me when I was getting in the shower?" "Umm, yeah, but if it's any consolation, I didn't really see much. I only saw the top of your^Åbutt?" "Okay?" Billy said. "Well, if this Brett guy is as bad as you made him out to be, I guess I can't get too mad at you for spying, but if I catch you doing it again, I'm gonna have to kill you a little bit." "Deal," Andy said. "I won't do it again. I promise." "Good, cause I think you're probably a nice boy; you just have a lot to deal with with this bully friend of yours," Billy said. "I suppose I can take that as a compliment?" "I really think not," Billy said honestly. "Andy, you seem like a good kid, but you're mixed up with a crowd that'll only get you into more and more trouble as time goes on. The older you get, the more you learn, the more trouble you can get into. That's how it all works." "You know a lot for only being twelve years old," Andy said. "Well, I've been through a lot," Billy said. "I've seen things happen that nobody should ever have to see and I've dealt with things that most people would lose total control of themselves if it happened to them." "Like what?" Andy asked curiously. "Just stuff," Billy said. "I'd rather not talk about that though." "Alright, fair enough," Andy said. "Listen, I know the way we just met was pretty much the most unorthodox way possible, but I was wondering; would you like to hang out tomorrow?" "Umm, sure," Billy said rather nervously. "You're not assembling up some way of getting me to Brett and the others, are you?" "Of course not," Andy said. "I know that's probably hard for you to believe considering you just caught me spying on you through your bedroom window, but I wanna prove to you that I'm not a bad guy." "I don't think you're a bad guy," Billy said. "I'll hang out with you just as long as this gang of yours doesn't try something stupid." "Oh don't worry; they'll never find out," Andy said. "Well, they can know if you wanna tell them, but I just don't wanna have to deal with any crap just because I'm the new kid," Billy said. "That's just the thing though," Andy said. "If they do find out, Brett'll have a cow and both of us are going down. It'd be better if none of them ever find out." "Wait; aren't they planning something against me anyway whether or not they know you're hanging out with me?" Billy asked. Andy looked defeated all of a sudden when Billy said that. He stood from the boulder he was sitting on before and began pacing back and forth thinking of a plan to avert Brett and the rest of the gang from Billy to some other kid; the sound of dead leaves rustling under his shoes as he was pacing around. Billy was beginning to wonder if it was even worth it. To be fair, this boy had just been spying at through his window and now thirty minutes later, they were trying to figure out to be friends without the biggest and baddest bully in town finding out about it. Andy stopped in his tracks looking as if he was about to give up. "Well, I can't really think of anything, but just leave Brett to me," Andy said. "Trust me, he'll stay away from you and he'll never know we're hanging out and talking to each other and stuff." "Is this really worth it?" Billy boldly asked. "Not really, but the fact is if you have me behind you, you'll stand less of a chance of being picked on," Andy said. "Plus, I'm actually a good person to talk to and stuff. I could, like, show you around town, let you meet some people around here, and hopefully by the time school starts I could have everyone know you so well that there would be no way to label you as `the new kid'." "I guess you're right," Billy said. "Alright, I'll hang out with you and let you guide me to `normal, ordinary, everyday Black Maple kid' instead of `new kid'." "Well, I think I oughtta start guiding you by leading you back to civilization and back home before the parents figure out you're gone," Andy said. "Oh, that sounds like a good idea," Billy said. With that, the two boys headed off together through the woods back towards the neighborhood. It surprised Billy at how far they had ran before when it took them almost fifteen minutes to make it to their street. When they arrived at their houses, they stopped on the sidewalk between the two houses to say their goodnights to each other before going inside. "Well a, this night has been^Åsufficiently awkward, but I wanna thank you for offering your friendship and stuff," Billy said. "Not a problem," Andy said. "And I promise that I won't be spying on your through your window anymore." "Yeah, that was a fun way to spend my very first night here," Billy said. "I'm sorry again," Andy apologized. Billy chuckled. "You don't have to keep saying you're sorry about it," Billy said. "I know we'll find a good way for you to make it up to me." "Yeah," Andy said. "Maybe you'll get a chance to spy on me or something." "Sure, something like that, yeah," Billy said sort of mordantly. "Well, goodnight. See you tomorrow, I guess." "Yeah," Andy said. "Goodnight." After the goodnights were said, the boys turned around and headed towards their own houses. As Andy walked towards his house, he kept an eye on Billy who just looked directly ahead of him without looking back. When Andy reached the front door of his grandmother's house, he stopped on the porch and watched Billy as he reached his own front door. Before he opened the door, Billy slowly looked over at Andy who was dumbly standing on his front porch gawking at him. Before walking inside the house, Billy gave Andy a slight, but ever so cute, grin. With that, Billy walked into his house and closed the door. Andy felt like his heart had just skipped a beat after Billy gave him that cute smile of his. He couldn't believe that Billy was actually agreeing to be friends with him after the stunt he had pulled with the spying, but he was glad that he did. With that thought in mind, Andy opened the front door and walked into his house shutting the door behind him. __________________ As Billy got ready for bed again, he thought about Andy and what had just happened between the two of them. He didn't really understand why he agreed to be friends with Andy after what he had just done that night, but there was something about Andy that Billy really liked. He was a descent boy. He was nice, caring, and cute even. When that last thought crossed Billy's mind, he started to feel like a traitor. He grabbed the picture of Eric, Bradley, Joe, and himself from the box he put it in earlier and stared at it for what seemed like forever. He rubbed his finger over the image of Eric again like he had before as if he was actually making a connection with him somehow. "The heart only wants what it wants, huh Eric," Billy said to the image of Eric as if it could hear him. With that, Billy began to cry a little bit again. He decided that since he was alone, it didn't matter how much or how hard he cried. He set the picture down on the nightstand next to his bed, turned out his light, and laid his head down on his pillow still letting tears fall freely down his face. He cried harder as thoughts and memories of his recent past came back. It took a long while, but eventually Billy cried himself to sleep with his head resting on a soaked pillow. END OF CHAPTER ONE Well, if you've read this far without any graphical sex scenes, then congratulations. I hope you enjoyed this story so far. The next chapter should be in pretty soon, so I anticipate that you'll read it and enjoy it as much as you did this chapter. The next one should be better in the "action" area, but I hope that's not what you're reading this for. I'm going for a story that's genuine and in course with reality as much as possible. I don't see the point in stories with no storyline or stories that's just all sex sex sex. Anyway, all comments and criticisms are completely welcome. You can just email me at redneck_boy90@yahoo.com. Anyway, I hope you read the next chapter. Later.
